Hecate had finished setting up her classroom. The tables and chairs were there but the burners were not there. Instead, in their place was a slimey... wet creature, which had the body of a fish and the legs of a frog which just happened to be tied together. A box of tools being used as propping the creature up a bit...
This may be a hard class.
Oh well... maybe they'd like it or maybe... don't really care...
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Antarctica! for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me at the WWoHP, and to Ameh for makin it into a pretty graphic!

SPOILER!!: Professor and Kurumi + frozen Kurumi

Then again, she never thought that she would be sitting right next to him in class...working together. So, no, she did not notice his movements and had finished what she was doing.
Her trembling paused for a brief moment when she heard him speak, her eyes blinking in utter disbelief. His first words to her in months...right there...had been advice...comforting... and she was clearly reading way too much into this. Kurumi bit down on her lower lip, chewing it absently, and turned her gaze away from him and towards the plimpy as he began to do the next step.
Try shaking your hands for awhile...
Which is exactly what Kurumi ended up doing. She shook both her hands at ones, breathing in and out deeply and slowly as she did in attempt to calm her racing heartbeat. She had done it though, taken the first step and had done it properly...hopefully.
The plimpy did look a little ridiculous like that, both its legs out of its sockets and what not. The good thing, for Kurumi at least, was that it was beginning to look less and less like a creature and more like...nothing at all really. Kurumi picked up the scalpel and scooted a little closer to Jonathan - she DID need to be closer to the plimpy for this next bit and seeing as it was closer to his side of the station it only made sense. Her hands were still trembling slightly and she caught his eyes looking at them. "I...I'm okay," she whispered, not actually looking at him as she did and instead slowly inserted the blade into the plimpy and carefully removed its legs and set them on the tray, watching them vanish after a few seconds into storage.

Hadn't that...happened...wait, no, she had only heard about it. Maybe...her memory was fuzzy these days so it made little sense.
Her eyes went towards Sierra. No one in their right mind would cast a spell at Sierra during a lesson, especially a Lafay lesson.
WOAH WOAH WOAH?!
Kurumi's attention spun around to the younger lion who was accusing her of freezing. WHAT was she talking about?! Jaw hanging open slightly, Kurumi simply stared at the girl and shook her head as she leaned over the table just a bit. "Narumi, what are you talking about? I've never fro------"
Kurumi's forward movement came to a sudden stop, but it was not enough to stop her statue-like body from moving forward a bit more and she fell in such a way that she was leaning against his shoulder with all her weight so she was quite literally leaning against him for support. Kurumi's eyes were looking straight head, mouth still open in midsentence, and nothing about her was moving.
Nothing.
Okay, so maybe he had broken that promise about him not ever speaking to her again, but what should he do? Stare at her like he always does? No. Jonathan stiffened when he talked to her, he hasn't done that in a long time nor has heard of her voice for a long time as well. Jonathan didn't bother about it, right now, they need to get this procedure done. Besides, he figured that if they were going to work together as partners for this activity, the least he could do is to actually speak to her. Staring and glancing wouldn't just do.
After finishing rotating the legs from its socket, Jonathan was now ready to do the next step. He took a big deep breath and observed the plimpy for awhile. The next step was to cut along the loose skin, right? Pull them off and then place them on the tray. Then suddenly, Kurumi scooted closer to him. Saying that she was relieved made him at ease. That was a good sign, her not hyperventilating with this activity. She was doing better than expected. So the next procedure was her part, Jonathan placed both his hands on the table and looked at the plimpy while she is now cutting through the loose skin to get the legs. Truth be told, Jonathan felt awkward with how close they were right now, he can even feel hear her breathing in and out. They haven't been this near since... then.
Again, all of a sudden Lafay was raising her voice because Sierra is also frozen? Now who else would do that? Sierra was not the type of classmate that you would freeze and especially in LAFAY's class. Whoever is doing this must probably be suicidal or crazy.
Jonathan's head glanced over to where Sierra was. Indeed the Slytherin Prefect is frozen and Lafay is getting angrier with all of these students freezing in class. What was going on? Was this some sort of April Fool's prank? This was serious. REALLY serious. Jonathan was still staring at Sierra when all of a sudden, he can feel a weight on his shoulder. His eyes moved to Kurumi. It was her... BUT, why would she suddenly? Jonathan's eyes widened when he saw her not blinking, her mouth opened and is completely not moving.
OH NO! This was bad. Jonathan's hand reached out to her head immediately. Well, she chose the most awkward position for him to move and ask for help, he can't just stand up because she will absolutely fall on the floor. So instead, his free arm went around her wait while the other one was on her head. Was he panicking? OF COURSE HE IS. "Kurumi, you're frozen!" dummy, she wasn't going to answer her now, is she? "Professor, Kurumi is also frozen... She just..." he technically didn't know how it happened.
I'm just one of those pretty little liars... | | I'm held down in this starless city...
What in the world was happening?!
Either Nora was totally clueless about what was happening to those who started freezing, either... uh... well, she really was clueless. But honestly now, was it some kind of really tasteless prank? Was everyone going insane? Or was Nora the only one going insane?
The only thing she could do was stare from professor Lafay to the others, sort of glad that she at least had a distraction from the dead plimpy.
Aspen was entirely letting West pop off Plimpy legs. Not that she couldn't do it, but if he did the work, then she could... concentrate on the chaos going on around them and in turn, keep him safe and protected from... Stuff.

"Hufflepuffs, if you are loyal to your prefect, you'll tell me who did this... Ten points for whoever tatles on the person who cast the spell!"
Aspen had questions about these instructions, these requests.
For example, if Aspen pulled her wand out and cast on the Prefects, say... right now? Then tattled on herself - would she get 10 points? She usually reserved her casting for the Head Boy, but Merlin knew Sierra and that Gryffindor Prefect could use a hex or two, too.
Or
If Aspen just told of someone that had cast on the Prefects in GENERAL, would that still be 10 points?
She needed more specifics.

Aspen let her hair fall in front of her face to hide her grin. Look, another Ravenclaw that apparently didn't care about points. Aspen was SOOOO sure that Vickers explaining LOGIC to Professor Lafay would go over soooo well.

In fact, Aspen had heard a story about students being set on fire once. In this classroom. THAT was more Potion Master Style. PMS.

Alyssa decided that all those accusations flying around were just getting a bit too much.
And even though she knew that at this point, Professor Lafay was too angry to notice whether she raised her hand or not, Alyssa raised her hand and addressed everybody, especially the Professor.
"Professor, no disrespect, but I don't believe that Oakey did it. He may have accidentally slimed Sierra but I don't believe that the slime caused her to freeze. Look at Lewis, he froze first and he wasn't slimed."
Then Alyssa looked at Kurumi,"I'm not sure who slimed Kurumi, and even though she now got hit by the freezing charm, doesn't it require someone who knows how to cast the spell to do it and wouldn't that require wand. Not many of us know how to cast that spell except the older students."
"Professor you are the best person to determine who cast the spell. If you could, could you please test our wands? I hate to see friends become enemies because of what is going on in class right now."
'Plus I want to get back to harvesting this Plimpy and get out of this class.' Alyssa thought to herself.
If it wasn't Oliver, it would be Williamson... So that's who showed them and suggested the prank... "I have potions to control pestilence..." she said ominously... She was going to have to pay the goon a visit.
---
"An orb? What are you talking about? A bludger must have hit you in the head! Vindictus froze because he's a tired old man..."
Woops...
She shouldn't have said that out loud...
Ok...
Back to the lesson.
"Alright, if you are quite finished having your fun... let's return to the plimpies." She put on her gloves. "Gloves on. Take your scalpel, clean it, and cut an incision under the scales by the fins." She demonstrated on the floating creature. "You then remove all the fins from the body, and place them in your tray. Don't worry when they disappear, they are being placed in the ingredients storage." She said waving a slimey gloved hand.
"Now, you will want to rotate the legs one at a time, widely, until you hear them pop out of the sockets, then you may cut along the lose skin, pull the legs off and put them in your tray." As she did so, she looked at the class. "You try now."
Elliot simply stared down, trying to get the guts(heehee, punny!) to do what she needed to do...Merlin...She slipped on the gloves, thanking Merlin for their existence! and picked up this scalpel. It looked like a knife. No, it WAS knife...aahh. Elliot was sCAAAAARED.
She listened carefully to lafay, and cut the 'incision under the scales by the fins.' She thought. It was SUPER GROSS, and Elliot had to keep her mouth firmly SHUT or else her lunch would be ALL OVER. Ew. And she didn't think she wanted that...or maybe she did, so she could get out of this?
She finished cutting the fins from the body, which wasn't too bad. There wasn't any blood, which was nice, since Elliot would have had a heart attack if that was the case.
Here came the ickiest part...popping the legs from the socket...she didn't think she could do it..

She was about to pop the sockets..ew, when suddenly Lafay blew up on them...oh no...Elliot dropped her scalpel, but quickly picked it back up, speechless. She didn't have any idea, honestly...she was very confused...why were all the prefects freezing up...hmm? Quite weird. Elliot simply watched as everyone spoke, offering up their own opinions...but she remained silent...it was not her place to speak, since she honestly didn't have anything meaningful to input.

Erin listened intently towards Professor Lafay's instructions and observed carefully at her demonstrations. She reached for her gloves and put it on, both of her hands. Using the Scourgify spell, she thrusted her wand onto the scalpel - that was like ritual in Potions - and cut through the scales by the fins of the plimpy. One by one, Erin removed the fins and put it on the tray. She then repeated the process for the other fins and put it over the tray.
That was easy.
...and the legs...

Oh Merlin, if Lafay wasn't going to use him in her next potion after protecting Roro from her evil ways. This would most certainly be the next best way for it to happen.

Sierra froze and Oakey Gunter gotten to be blamed. He was the unluckiest creature EVER, really!
Poor Gunter. Well, if he was taken out points, Ravenclaw would be like way over the Hufflepuff? But this was just all so unfair. Erin witnessed herself what happened to CoMC with Professor Williamson freezing out and the incident on here was almost like that.
And he actually thought it was him. WHAT? Hufflepuffs were just too good. Nod. Nod.
And...
Not yet the end. Another one by the name of Kurumi Hollingberry frozen out too...In the middle of all this chaos between Oakey and Sierra and...and...Vickers reasoning out from Professor Lafay about the weird something happening at Hogwarts...and a Slytherin girl blaming Professor Lafay?
WHAT?
Instead of making any more fuss about this, Erin just reversed her focus onto the Plimpy lying in front of her, making no more sound, defenseless, unlike the jungle inside the Potions room.
She started to rotate the leg of the Plimpy and...
POP! That was probably the socket. At least, that made her happy.

Ever so slowly, Sierra lowered her pointed finger and turned to face Lafay. She knew the woman wouldn't tolerate this much longer, and when she'd reached her boiling point, which Sierra thought may happen soon, Sierra didn't want to be doing anything to put herself in the line of fire.
So Gunter was claiming not to have done the casting, but even so, he was doing something suspicious, and it just so happened to be at the exact time something else happened. Something did happen, that much was obvious, but the last thing Sierra remembered was being hit with that slime.
Like she'd said, whatever happened, happened when Gunter threw that slime. A distraction from the actual caster, maybe? Either way, Gunter was now on 'THE LIST'.

Nothing.
Terrified, sweating, and wishing he could shrink down to the size of an ant. Oakey's wish almost became true when Kurumi froze up, he turned his head with a look of horror on his face. If Kurumi's freezing up wasn't proof enough that he wasn't the culprit he didn't know what else would be.

But now several people were yelling, culminating in the grand, terrifying holler from Lafay. Sierra froze? What did Oakey do? Then Sierra started moving again-- just like Lewis!
Oh but wait "Slime?" his repeated eyes wide in palpable fear between Oakey and Sierra, finally resting on the now seething Slytherin Prefect. With a shaky gloved hand he points and utters "bodily-fluid contact."

Eyes goes to the Gryffindor Prefect, just as someone yells out about Kurumi experiencing habitual freezing just as they were all witnessing now. And as if that weasnt enough, Kurumi freezes RIGHT BEFORE HIS EYES "Body fluid contact..." he repeated again. "Williamson could've gotten in from Roro, or the many animals in his care... this could be a water-borne disease, even moisture in the air-- spreads around the grounds-- that would explain why Professor Vindictus got it too." he said, in an eerily calm voice but one cant mistake the SHEER TERROR that is just shaking with every word.
His eyes returns now to Professor Lafay "Professor, do you still think this is a prank? Isnt it more logical, given the evidences happening right NOW, that we are in the midst of an outbreak? Right now in your classroom, with all of us in here? With Plimpies from the LAKE cut up and open and exposed in such a confined environment? he wants to drop in a fetal position and just CRY, so terrified now that he is seeing DEATH in the EYE. But no not before asking for his ONE HOPE "Can you administer that potion now please? I dont want to get what they've got. I want to graduate from Hogwarts. I want to live "
Wait now Oakey was really confused along with all other horrible emotions going through him right now? Had Vickers just said that He and Sierra exchanged bodily fluids?!?!?! Could Oakey barf now...without freaking the Ravenclaw out even more?

Ten points to whoever tattles?
He fought the temptation to say it was Oakey, too.
FIGHT IT, THEODORE. FIGHT IT. "I think it was the Hufflepuff, too." OH SNAP.
Sorry, those points were too tempting.
Oakey's eyes darted past his BFF Mordy to the little Slytherin sitting beside him! WHAT. Really was this some kind of revenge for lightly hitting his frail body during the pillow fight?
He wanted Mordy to speak up, say something to defend him. Go against the rest of his house and defend his best friend. Maybe Shut the kid up who was sitting beside him.

Oakey shook his head nervously up and down at Alyssa's speech.

Wow, the Professor was going nuts! She had sprayed a girl in the face with water and was now yelling at everyone. Once she heard Professor Lafay say that Vindictus was a tired old man, she just burst out laughing. She even heard a couple others laughing, one was a Slytherin. After regaining composure she looked up at the Professor as she explained the next step for harvesting the plimpy. Pulling her notes over to her she picked up her quill and dipped it into the ink and began writing down the steps as the Professor demenstrated and spoke. It had been a good idea for her to leave room under the first step. Rumaging through her bag she found her gloves and put them on. Picking up her scapel she cleaned it cortesy of the scourgify spell, Scourgify!
Couting the fins she remembered there were five. After taking a breath and appoligizing to the Plimpy she cut an incision under the scales by the fins, after cutting all she needed to she removed the first fin. Going to the nest one she repeated what she had done and then moved on to the remaining three. After taking all five fins off and had placed them into the tray, she took a shaky breath they would be dislocating thier legs.
Even though it was already dead she felt it was wrong. Sighing she gripped on of the legs and rotated it until she heard a pop. Revolted she picked up her scapel and cut along the lose skin and then pulled the leg off and placed the leg in the tray and moved onto the second leg. After rotating it until the pop she picked up her scapel once again and cut along the lose skin and pulled the leg off and began placing it in the tray but that didnt happen. Her hand holding the leg just froze over the tray. She wasnt moving nor did it appear like she was blinking.
ooc: Sorry, didn't see you freeze there luvvie!
As she walked to Sierra she noticed a student with her hand over the tray. She poked her with her wand... This one too?!

A death glare from Sierra Greingoth.
Who did it?!
"He did it," Sierra accused, hearing that last question just as she randomly unfroze. Her finger was pointing right at Oakey Gunter, a mere foot from his face. She was sitting in front of him, after all. "Oakey Gunter slung the slime from his plimpy on the back of my head, and when I turned to face him, I..." Wait. What did happen? She didn't even recall what happened when she'd turned around. The last thing she remembered was Professor's Lafay's voice sounding in the distance, and then she heard that last question about someone...well, doing something. "Whatever happened, happened when Gunter slung his plimpy slime on the back of my head..."
You're gonna get it, Puffer Boy. If not from the professor, then from ME.
"Sierra!" She was back now? Just like the Hufflepuff prefect. "You are in such trouble now..."

Then just as quickly did Sierra freeze did she unfreeze, and started accusing Oakey of flinging slime at her! He never even recalled doing that, he was just doing as Lafay had instructed. He looked around scared half to death of speaking up. He had to say something before Lafay or Sierra ate him...or maybe they both will?

Oh Merlin, if Lafay wasn't going to use him in her next potion after protecting Roro from her evil ways. This would most certainly be the next best way for it to happen.
Was everyone looking at him now? Way to blend into class Oakey.

And then utter chaos seemed to hit. First, it was the Slytherin prefect getting smacked with slime. Then, the Gryffindor prefect seemingly following the example of her Hufflepuff counterpart. Gloves. She already had her gloves on. Scalpel, right, clean it. "Scourgify." She muttered, watching her scalpel be rid of it's dust. Hmm. It didn't seem that dirty. One of the mysteries of Potions, that everything needed to be perfectly clean.
Slimey. Gross. Glenn refused to be all girly about it and cut off all the fins in her best effort which wasn't very good. She placed them on the tray and turned to the next task of popping the frog/fish's leg sockets. She rotated them until she heard the pop. That sounded... lovely.
She cut the loose skin and put the legs in the tray as she had with the fins. Could she take of her slimly icky gloves now?
WHAT? MORE people freezing?
So, the Slytherin girl had come unfrozen and was... blaming it on Oakey? Glenn threw her a glare at the other people accusing *cough*Dylan*cough* them of faking it. It didn't look very fake. With a significant glare in his direction, Glenn went over to Kurumi and waved her (still covered in slimy gloves) hands in front of her eyes. "I don't think they're faking it." She responded, while she may or may not have flecked Kurumi and that old Slytherin she was leaning on with slime.
And the Oakey thing? "Merlin, did anyone actually see anyone with a wand out? It'd be pretty hard to hex someone without a wand... unless you're an adult or teacher" The blonde said perhaps a little too loudly, eyeing the first year snake who had piped up saying that they thought that Oakey had done it too. Ugh. It seemed all these people worried about were points.
"Are you accusing me as well?" She said grumbling.

What in Merlin's beard is happening to students?
OH NO... "Did you freeze too!??!"

Seriously?
Lea looked around. People were freezing and still freaking out about plimpy parts and...well...many many things that she regarded pointless was happening. It more looked like the work of some attention seeker person but since she was sitting in the front row, she could not observe enough to have an idea who that attention seeker was.
So she simply snorted and rolled her eyes.
Then the professor was trying to deal with all the frozen stuff.
Lea rotated the plimpy leg some more and with a 'pop' it was out of the socket.
''Professor, why don't we leave them frozen and go on with the class?''

Kennedy was somewhat relieved that Sierra seemed to be fine. It was still strange. Why did she freeze up...just like that? His mind was already racing to find an explanation, but it only ended up at a dead end. He'd talk with her later.
Then...Kurumi froze. Although it didn't worry him as much as Sierra had, he still worried. He considered her a friend, so yeah. Was it a Prefect thing? He certainly hoped not. Kenney looked down at his badge. It wasn't that doing...doing THAT. Was it? In that case he needed to toss it into the lake...but he liked his badge too much to do that.
When Lafay spoke to him he was tempted to raise an eyebrow but didn't. She understood his anger? Really? And then...
She was poking him...
...on his ticklish spot.
Kennedy shied away from her wand and gave her a confused stared. "I assure you I won't...freeze, Professor." At least, he hoped not because he wasn't giving up his badge. No way.

Hearing her name, Sierra glanced up in Lafay's direction with a bewildered expression on her face. In trouble?! Her? ...but what had she done? It was all that Puffer's fault. That did it. If she was in trouble, then that Puffer was definitely on 'THE LIST'.
She still had no idea what had happened directly after she'd turned to face Gunter...
Five points from Slytherin? Only five? In a way, Sierra was annoyed that they'd lost five points, but at the same time, she was honestly surprised the girl hadn't gotten hexed or something. Ha. That would have been amusing to watch, though...
At the sound of the spell being cast, Sierra took a long look around the room, waiting to see what effects it would bring.
Upon hearing the spell being cast Nate jumped a bit. He wasn't paying atttention to what the professor was saying because she didn't say anything to him. So he just kind of went on with his normal buisness.
Nigel just sat in his chair and watched everything unfold. It seemed like more people were freezing and the even the Professor did not know why. She even poked one of her Prefects to see if he was frozen, which he was not.
After he heard Lafay cast the spell he took a good look around the room to see if the spell did anything .

That Hufflepuff boy was slowly starting to get extremely annoyed. And Lewis was NOT somebody who was easily annoyed. Except for when his girlfriend was sitting next to her ex-boyfriend in Potions class. Ahem. So the feeling that was washing over him when he looked at the other boy was barely known to him but it was becoming more and more persistent and extreme by the second.
Why did the guy insist that he had anything?!
"Yes!" Well, actually he couldn't say for sure that he didn't but something bugged him about the way Hufflepuff's accusation. And then he was talking about betting every galleon he owned on that. Well, that was a good question to be honest and the answer would have probably be 'no' but then he went on and said something which distracted Lewis from the question. "I didn't do anything." Still focusing on his hands, Louisa took her wand out and "Scourgify," at what she thought was her scalpel lying. Her eyes however were on his sleeves, and as if on cue the cuff of his sleeves bleached.
O,o oopsie daisie.
Louisa was torn between laughing could get her into the torture chamber in the dungeon or pretend it was nothing. She cleared her throat and whispered, "sorry," you know for bleaching his sleeves. She looked away from them at her wand and saw it pointing toward Lewis NOT toward the scalpel. Must be her subconscious tugging at her brain to figure the boy out. "will explain later," she added so that Lewis didn't feel... threatened. Or more confused that he already was.
Lewis probably wouldn't even have noticed the bleaching of his sleeve if Louisa hadn't apologized. No, he was too focused on not thinking about what Professor Lafay could possibly want from him. Oh and also about Kurumi sitting next to Jonathan. He was NOT thinking about that either. Plus there was a Plimpy in front of him which needed dealing. Though, he was done with that so he was mainly trying to keep himself occupied with the first two things.
Not too successfully though.
"Hmm?" He raised his eyebrows at the Ravenclaw next to him, glad for some sort of distraction. It was only when he followed her gaze that he noticed the slight change in color of his robes' sleeve. Which made him frown slightly but shake his head at the same time. It was fine. It could happen.
When he looked back up at Louisa he found a wand still pointed at him which made him lean back a little quite suddenly, away from the wand. Okay, SERIOUSLY?! Only then she lowered it again, making him sigh in relief. He wasn't sure he would have been fast enough to get his wand if she had tried to hex him or something. Just nodding when she said she would explain later, Lewis looked at her face for a moment longer - trying to figure out exactly what she was talking about - before glancing down at his Plimpy again.
So Professor Lafay. And Kurumi and Jonathan. He wasn't even sure which made him feel more uneasy.

Lewis had happened to look at her right when it happened since she'd been very loudly complaining about something so he got to witness it first hand. With his mouth slightly hanging open. Which was still like that when she suddenly unfroze and...didn't provide any clue or explanation as to what had just happened.
Oh wow.

What in Merlin's beard is happening to students?
Lewis was still trying to figure out how exactly he was related to Sierra's freezing when he heard something that made him whirl around in his seat so suddenly he almost fell off his chair. Jonathan's voice. And he was addressing Professor Lafay. And he had bad news. Extremely bad news. News that almost made him miss the fact that Kurumi was sort of leaning against the Slytherin and he had his ARM AROUND HER WAIST!
Kurumi was...she looked...she looked bad. "Kurumi..." She wasn't moving. Just like Sierra a moment ago. Only this was far worse. Lewis actually cared about Kurumi. Hence it was far worse seeing her like this. Seeing her this...this lifeless almost. He opened his mouth as if he were about to say something but there was nothing coming out, no sound, no nothing. It almost seemed as if he had just frozen again but for different reasons than a moment ago. This time he was very much aware of it. This time it was because he was in shock and completely at a loss of what to do.
Also why was Jonathan the one holding her?!

Louisa smiiiiiiirked for a nanosecond before starting to frown and look the other way where Jonathan was announcing Kurumi's freeze out. AGAIN.
"I told you it wasn't a prank!" she hissed before looking expectantly at Lafay, now what?!
...........and wasn't just her or did it seem like the Prefects were the only one freezing out?
O_______________O
"My god... I don't wanna freeze," she whimpered looking at Lewis. As if the almighty freezing powers were in his hands.
Lewis was pulled out of his stupor when he heard Louisa next to him. And the way she said the words actually made him turn his head to glance at her for a moment. She was scared. She had basically whimpered just then. He wanted to tell her that it was going to be fine. That she wouldn't freeze. That she didn't have anything to worry about.
Only he couldn't. Because frankly he just didn't know. He didn't know anything.
Swallowing hard he gave her a concerned look before slowly turning back to look at Kurumi AND JONATHAN! again. Professor Lafay seemed to have absolutely no idea what was going on either. Somehow he hoped that her spell would work though. That it really was only a prank. Though, what else could it be. It HAD to be a prank. What else made people freeze like that? He doubted there was a Basilisk nearby. Or Medusa.
Unable to stand it any longer, Lewis quickly got out of his seat without another glance at Professor Lafay and hurried over to where Kurumi was sitting...no leaning against Jonathan rather. He gave the Slytherin a quick look which wasn't really much of anything, his emotions being all over the place right now, before focussing his gaze on Kurumi again. Taking her hand which was sort of, well, frozen it seemed, he tried squeezing it softly. "Kurumi." Lewis whispered, chewing on his lower lip nervously, concern cleared plastered across his face. It almost felt as if he were pleading with her to come back to life.
Not literally, of course. Since she WAS still breathing.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

*blink*
He wasn't being hexed, cursed, eaten, or made into ingredients?
He was just told to calm down...
*blink*
MERLIN THAT WAS WAY TO MUCH FOR HIM TO HANDLE! Oakey let off a large sigh of relief and look down at the Scarab charm he was grasping tightly in his hand. Maybe this gift did work after all.
He smiled at the idea that he wouldn't need to look for his Rabbit's Foot anymore with such a trustworthy item with him.
SPOILER!!: Sierra

She still had no idea what had happened directly after she'd turned to face Gunter...
Five points from Slytherin? Only five? In a way, Sierra was annoyed that they'd lost five points, but at the same time, she was honestly surprised the girl hadn't gotten hexed or something. Ha. That would have been amusing to watch, though...
At the sound of the spell being cast, Sierra took a long look around the room, waiting to see what effects it would bring.
His smile was directed at the charm but it was definitely facing Sierra. Who, to his surprise was the one in trouble, and not him.
*Blink*
She hadn't seen that smile had she? He was going to die if he ever ran into her again.
He would need to start making THE LIST of people to avoid, and she would be tied for first along with Maniac Jogger and Crazy Ravenclaw.
He turned around to avoid her glare again and picked up his chair setting it back up and sitting down. As this was all going on Lafay who was now only a few people away from him now, cast a spell to prevent more students from freezing he guessed.

Eyes still looking straight ahead and vacant, Kurumi react at all to Jonathan's arm wrapping around her waist or his hand holding up her head. Nor did she react to Lewis whispering her name and squeezing her hand. Not a single muscle in her body, not an eyelash, nothing moved. Her body did shift a little as Jonathan moved, leaning a little more against his arm, but not of her own free will. The Gryffindor was still very much frozen in time, almost like icing on top of a cake.
Not even Professor Lafay's spell had any effect as the Gryffindor remained exactly as she was.

Why were most of the prefects frozen one by one???
Wait! Are the prefects only involved in this because if it is then a student who had always dreamt of becoming a prefect is to be blamed for this or you know, the basilisk of Hogwarts but that was a rather long time ago and it was already dead, or so the history books says. It'd be scary if it was still going around the school... roaming... and making students at Hogwarts frozen. Jonathan was still carrying Kurumi with his hand around his waist and his hand on her head. If she'd fell on the ground, that'd be just worse than getting frozen.
Professor Lafay did move to their area as soon as Jonathan asked for her helped, Jonathan nodded several times to the professor when she asked the question. "What's going on, Professor?" with all the students just randomly freezing in class. It was no longer funny and WHAT/ WHO is causing all of these pranks? Was this a message to send to the faculty or to the Headmaster?
Sigh.
Jonathan looked at Kurumi, she was still frozen. Not a word was coming out from her mouth. However, before he could further observe her, Mr. Prefect came into the rescue. Wow, even took him time to come save his girlfriend. Jonathan cocked an eyebrow and stared back at Lewis. His eyes once again scanned the Hufflepuff boy from top to bottom in a stone expression. Then he rolled his eyes and turned back to what was more important, which is getting Kurumi unfrozen. Jonathan saw Lewis take her hand which caused Jonathan to groan sarcastically, enough for Lewis to hear. Rasting, she won't be unfrozen by squeezing her hand. Pfffffffft....
Now he waits for Kurumi to be unfrozen by Professor Lafay, she has done it once by electrocuting Lewis, so same goes for Kurumi.
Louisa's mouth was now formed in a pout, and Lewis' whisper of Kurumi's name didn't help the girl calm down. She just stared at the Gryffindor Prefect and then her eyes found another NON-Prefect.. all frozen up, too. Was it mean to say that the Ravenclaw almost sighed in relief at this? Probably... well she thought it!
Although being the Prefect of the girl's house made Louisa feel a sliiiight of responsibility. She let out a shaky sigh taking in the poor little girl's frozen body.
When the professor did the spell, the girl instinctively froze. Oh, no, she did it on purpose and only her eyes moved before her whole posture relaxed again and her head started moving from side to side trying to spot any kind of change. One good thing came out of Lafay's spell though... they knew nobody had pulled a prank with their wands on the students hence Louisa's head growing bigger... figuratively speaking.
....
Kurumi seemed to stay frozen in place. WHAT IF THIS WAS PERMANENT? Since she already froze before!? The girl swallowed and kept her eyes hanging on the girl in anticipation.

Nerida just stared without blinking like she was daydreaming. Arm still holding the plimpy legs over the tray. Nothing was moving, not her muscles, not her eyes, not even her fingers that seem to always move. She just stood there frozen. If she would have been pinched no sound would have escaped her. Not even Professor Lafay's spell seemed to jolt Nerida. She just continued not moving...

Anya Phillips had remained quiet for most of the lesson. She didn't believe in dissection. It creeped her out. And made her sad.
But when nothing seemed to help Kurumi... she slowly snuck away from her spot watching the older students work.
Not really caring what would happen to her, considering her Prefect was practically dead, she soon found herself next to Kurumi. "Don't die here please..." she said. Somewhere else would be WAY better. Somewhere else where they couldn't use her color changing eyes as a potion ingredient.
She then looked around at the concerned faces. "Maybe someone should kiss her..." she suggested.
What? The Professor's idea didn't seem to work. She should be allowed ideas too!
And it worked in fairy tales... And Hogwarts was pretty fairy tale-ish... so... same rules applied, right? Especially since she looked JUST like Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.
And for the record, Anya'd want a kiss if she was ever frozen like that. Or you know... in general. Kisses were completely acceptable and welcome.
"Or... CPR..." she said once again suggesting something. She knew how to do that. If anyone was interested.

He gave a slight jump in his seat with the Professor yelling at him this time, so tightly wound were his nerves at this point. He would've begged to differ about the freezing since they had more people freeze in this class than anywhere Vickers have so unluckily witnessed. But WAIT!... Professor's wand was suddenly up in the air!
Out of sheer instinct he moved his arm to shield himself... just to realize a moment later that it was the mother of all Quit charms. There was a part of his rational thinking (the one fully convinced it was a contagion) that would say it wont work, but that ever hopeful side of him (the one that always says IT'S MAGIC!) peered out across the classroom hoping it was by some miracle that they were all cured.
Eyes goes straight to Kurumi-- who MOVED!
Oh no wait its the Slytherin boy next to her who moved.
His eyes was searching the other one that the Professor was referring to when she exclaimed if he/ she froze too. Did this work for that student?? That nagging voice in his head that said this wouldnt work was getting stronger now, and was just about to give voice once again to this MOST SOUND reasoning when he caught Sierra STARING at him. Did she freeze again? But then caught Aspen STARING at him too.
Why are they staring at him? They're not expecting him to freeze up like the others are they?
He wants to put on the bubble head charm on himself now. Seriously.

Penelope had been attempting the plimpy leg popping stuff, but she was quickly distracted by all the randomly freezing people and the yelling and the accusations flying everywhere. This sure was an interesting Potions lesson. Were all of them like this? That would be cool. It might become her favorite class, given how it was kinda entertaining in a way.
But then it seemed Kurumi wasn't recovering like the others who had frozen were. That was probably bad. The first year watched as the professor cast a spell to try and help and then listened when her friend Anya suggested something.
Hm? Someone should kiss her?
"He should probably do it," she said, pointing to Lewis, the Hufflepuff Keeper Penelope had seen Kurumi kiss after that one Quidditch match. It was only on the cheek, but still. It seemed fitting that he would be the one to kiss her and wake her up if that was what it would take.
