Sheesh, talk about a girl being impatient. But Mikey listened, ignoring the headache he was suddenly getting from Hailey not making up her mind. They were right; girls were very indecisive. Don't forget dramatic. Instead of looking down, Hailey looked out the window and towards the sky. He let out a snort, though he was trying his best to keep it inside. Well, no one told Hailey to be dramatic about the current situation. Oh. So she did like him back. Okay. It just took Mikey a few seconds to process what had just happened. He sighed, nonetheless, rubbing his temples.
"Alright then let's start dating. I'm not going to deny you either. That would just be mean," he smirked. But thankfully, she wasn't looking at him.
Hailey had to look at him when he sighed. "Now?" She asked suddenly, somewhat surprised. What she meant was, 'Let's start dating now?' but her shock only allowed one word of that sentence to be conveyed. But he knew what she meant.
Fortunately, some of the tension was gone now; she felt much more comfortable talking. So Hailey encircled her hand in his once more and said, "What do you mean, you're not going to deny me?" She asked with a half-grin. But he was right--that would be mean. Except Mikey wasn't mean--he was a teaser.

"No, in the next ten years," Mikey rolled his eyes. Wasn't it obvious that he meant now, as in this very moment? Considering this was all being said right now, it would only make sense. When Hailey took his hand in hers, the nerd knew he couldn't say no to her. He didn't want to break his little vampire's poor heart. He was a teaser, not a mean person. "As in, if you want to date me, I won't say no or protest,"
So were they official now? Mikey couldn't tell nor did it feel like it. To him, this relationship seems the same; two best friends and kissing is just added. No big deal.

Hailey giggled at his comment; of course he meant now.
When he explained about the denying part, she smiled and leaned in to rest her head on his shoulder. "Good because I want to date you," She whispered in his ear.
It was getting dark outside; she could tell because all of the owls had suddenly started waking up and rustling about.
"Let's just stay here for a while," Hailey said. Just to get away from the hustle and bustle of the school.

"Good, so I guess we're dating now," he said, nodding his head. He never knew why people had to make such sappy moments for when two people decided to enter a relationship together. Somehow, he had just entered a relationship with a sappy person. Looking around, Mikey dared not to ruin Hailey's moment by mentioning he'd rather have this sappy moment somewhere else. Somewhere else where it didn't smell strongly of owls. More like a place that was mostly owl free. Not to mention clean too. But he guessed this would have to do for now. Ehh.
"Um, we should go somewhere else," he finally said, not wanting to hear more owls hooting and whatnot. "Somewhere cleaner and with fresh air,"

"I guess we are," Hailey repeated. Although it had been quiet only moments ago, now the owlery was flooding with hoots and screeches. So Hailey was somewhat glad when Mikey decided they should move somewhere cleaner.
"I agree," She said with a laugh. "Where shall we go?"

Where to go? "Anywhere that doesn't smell like something died in it," he said, pulling Hailey towards the entrance and out the door. This place needed to be cleaned at least once a week or something. And maybe throw in some air freshener here too.

Laura looked at Lana and sighed. "I looked all over but I couldn't find you and I was worried you were mad with me and I was scared you'd want to dissown me after what happened." Laura sighed, it was out she hadn't wanted to tell her sister that, she knew she had made a few mistakes and she knew he sister would be mad at her for losing house points.
Laura looked away from her sister with tears in her eyes, she quickly wiped them away before turning back to her sister. "I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that." Laura sighed, "It's just Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs sometime fight and I was worried."
She turned away from her sister and looked at Kurumi, she knew her sister was right, she shouldn't have spoken like that. "I'm sorry Madame Kurumi." Laura gave her a weak smile. "Can you forgive me."
She turned back to her sister and stared at her, seriously her sister wanted her to leave. "I'm I getting this straight? you want me to leave you alone." Laura was sad now, but if he sister want her to stay out of her was Laura would do it for Lana, though she'd have to send an owl to mummy on her own later on.
Lana was just being overly sensitive about this and it was just her way of acting out. She really wasn't like this at all, but at times these things just came out. Deep down she knew her twin hadn't meant to tease her, but there was still a part of her that saw it the other way. To be honest, they were kind of growing apart. Seriously, she hadn't thought it was possible. Yet there they were fighting unlike how they used to when they were back at home. It was different now for sure.
With her arms crossed, she listened to her twin. "You know I could never disown you, even if I could or wanted too!" They were family after all and there was no getting around that fact. They were stuck together for life, good or bad really.
Shaking her head again, she frowned again. "Yes, Claws and Puffs fight and so do sisters. What difference is that? You know we are going to fight from time to time. To be honest, if we didn't fight; mummy and daddy would be worried about us." There was bound to be some amount of fighting between them. There was no way that they could get through their childhood with out fighting on some level, right?
Watching her sister, she nodded as she apologized. She knew Laura was better than that and she didn't want people to start to think that she was rude or anything. That just wouldn't do at all for either of them. Laura wasn't at all how some people saw her and she didn't want people to get the wrong idea about her. They were fighting, but that didn't mean that she didn't care how people viewed herself and her sister.
Shaking her head, she frowned. "I didn't say I wanted you to leave. I just don't want to talk about this right now." All this arguing was getting nowhere fast and maybe it was just best to let it go for now. "I think we should just talk about this all another time, that's all."

Laura looked at her sister, she was sad about the fact, that they seemed to have just gone seperate ways, they would normally spend as much time together as they could when they were at Home but here they were fighting even though they hadn't seen each other for ages.
"Well when we fight at home we always made up straight after because we see each other always." Laura said truthfully. "But here i'm not so sure, because well we hardly ever see each other." Laura really wished that her sister was in Hufflepuff, then things wouldn't be like this.
Laura was glad that Lana wouldn't disown her, she would miss her sister, even though she teased her she loved her sister loads, she just wished there was a way to go back to how they used to be.
Laura smiled as she looked at her sister and then hugged her. "I love you Sis." Laura said seriously. "I know I can be a pain and tease you sometimes but I won't do it so much, if it annoys you." Laura was glad her sister didn't want her to leave.

Lana didn't want to fight any more but she knew this wasn't completely over by any means. They honestly didn't think that they were going to be separated like they were, but it had happened and there was no way around it now. They were after all two very different people to and the sorting hat saw that and placed them accordingly. Lana was a 'Claw and Laura a 'Puff, but they would always be sister. Fighting sisters it appeared.
"We make up because mummy and daddy make us make up," she added. Okay, they also made up because they wanted to make up as well; but in the grand scheme of things, being angry at each other at home was just something that could work. Their parents would not allow that for one moment. Yet, they weren't at home and being angry and fighting here was a different thing completely.
"You know I'm happy to be a 'Claw and I would never change that." It needed to be said. She was proud to be in her house even if they weren't well liked at times. She loved her house mates and her team mates as well. They were her family here. "You know maybe us being apart is a good thing." It could all be a blessing in disguise now that she thought about it.
Return the hug to her twin, she smiled. "I love you too, but do try to lay off all the teasing please." It was one thing to tease at home, but the teasing here just didn't seat well with her at all.

Laura walked to the owlery to see her owl. She was about to leave, when she spotted this. Hey, she had met her before. Her name was...Laura tried to recollect...yeah Laura! She was a Laura too. She walked up to her and said 'Hi Laura'.It was weird to be addressing someone with your own name!

Laura looked at her sister. "I'll try and remember not to tease you as much here." Laura smiled, though at home she might have a few teasing sessions with her but she was sure that her parents would stop her when she was annoying her sister too much.

Lewis was keeping to himself a lot lately, even more than he usually did. He tried to convince himself that it was only because he had so many things to do for school what with OWLs and finals just around the corner. But there was definitely more to it. He was avoiding...people. One person in particular really. And if anybody had asked him why, he wouldn't even have had a answer.
Not a very conclusive one anyway.
So he did what any rational human being would do. He avoided the confusing things and concentrated on...well, not so confusing stuff. Like homework. Or sending letters. Though the latter proved not to be that easy after all. He was still sitting there, in the Owlery with an empty parchment on his lap, a quill in his hand and a blank look on his face.
What was he supposed to write about? His mind kept on drifting off to things he wasn't sure Valerie would be interested in. Or would like to hear about in the first place. Maybe writing a letter hadn't been such a good idea after all.

Another letter from home later, Kurumi found herself looking for somewhere nearby to sit and just...unwind. She had letters to be owled to people, but really...she just needed to sit down and not think about anything.
Which was impossible for the Gryffindor these days.
Entering this part of the Owlery, Kurumi scanned the rows of perched owls hoping to spot his owl here...but no such luck. She should have known that she wouldn't, but its absence still brought a deep frown to her face and her eyes to slightly water. It was all happening again, just like with Adam. No matter how many letters she wrote...none of them came back. If he really wanted to write her, he would have found a way, wouldn't he? It hurt her. A lot. She had never felt this sort of pain in her heart before and at times she felt as though it were literally breaking into bits and pieces. She needed him so much right now...
Walking forward a bit more, Kurumi was too distracted by all these thoughts to see where she was going and ended up bumping into someone as she made her way towards the exit. "S-S-S-Sorry," she said quickly with a polite bow. "Oh, Lewis...hi!" Her expression noticeably lightened and the corners of her lips even curled up into a slight smile.

Dear Valerie, Yes that sounded like a good start. Only what now? He should probably apologize for taking so long to reply to her last letter. Not that she would be mad. She'd understand if he told her that he'd been just too busy with school and Quidditch to write. Especially Quidditch. She'd probably forgive him for ANYTHING since he'd started playing Quidditch.
Only the problem was that these things were only a yes, considerably large part of the reason he hadn't written her sooner. There was something else too, though. Something he had felt he couldn't not mention but didn't really want to write in a letter. Which was also the reason his quill just still hovered a few inches above the parchment and the only thing he'd written so far was Dear Valerie.
Completely lost in his own thoughts, Lewis didn't notice that he wasn't alone in the Owlery anymore until that somebody literally bumped into him. "No, I'm so...rry." He trailed off upon noticing WHO it was who had bumped into him. Kurumi. And while it felt like his heart made a little YAY-sort dance in his chest, the words oh no immediately came to his mind. "H-hi." This was not good. Or was it? She was smiling. So maybe it was all good after all.
So smiling back sounded like a good idea, right? Right.

Kurumi wasn't sure, but she felt as though Lewis wasn't nearly as happy to see her as she was to see him. She knew she shouldn't have told him about everything that was going on. She had wanted to tell him, so she had no regrets about that, but she knew how heavy the conversation had been regarding her mother. How could you really act normal around someone after hearing that? Knowing that every day when they looked at the clock they were not looking to see how much time was left until class was dismissed, but watching as precious seconds of life ticked away.
So...Kurumi looked at the ground, missing his return smile.
She noticed the parchment and quill in his hand and her own hands fumbled in her pockets for her own letters that she needed to send and swayed on the spot. She should probably act normal in this situation, right? That might help make Lewis not seem as awkward and help her feel more at ease as well, yes.
"Hey...I've missed seeing you around," she said. Way to act normal, Hollingberry.

His own smile faded when hers did and he watched her look down at the ground. She looked...uncomfortable? Or what was it? Did she feel just as awkward as he did? Was there something he was supposed to do...or say? Only what? Where was he supposed to start? It wasn't like he was in these kind of situations on a daily basis. Which made him ask himself what kind of SITUATION this was in the first place. Nothing had...happened. So why did he still feel like he was suffocating or something being in the same room with her?
It was a miracle he was even able to speak, it seemed.
Even though she was presumably intentionally not looking at him, Lewis just couldn't stop looking at her while he thought of something to say. When she started fumbling about with her letters, he automatically folded his own so she wouldn't see who he was writing to. Not that it would make any difference. Or he had any reason to do that. But it was just like how he couldn't think of what to write into that letter.
"I've been...busy, you know." Right. And that was true too! Then, biting his lip but still not averting his gaze from her face, he added a little more quietly, "How are you?" Like with all that was going on. He was still feeling extremely bad for just abandoning her down at the lake.

Kurumi nodded. Fifth year was a very busy year for all sorts of reasons. "I understand," she nodded again. She had been busy too...but still....she couldn't shake the feeling that he had been avoiding her because of their conversation and its intensity. Kurumi's eyes momentarily widened when she relived that day at the lake inside her head. Wait, was he avoiding her because of...
Kurumi blushed. She still didn't know what to think about that. Not only what he had been feeling and thinking, but her as well. If made her uncomfortable and it wasn't Lewis' fault for that.
"I've been...alright," she finally replied. Neither good nor bad, just sort of coasting through every day life and studying for OWLs to keep her distracted. News from home was always the same thing, the disease was progressing...but Kurumi didn't think that Lewis wanted to hear about that. "Lewis...I'm sorry for...putting such a burden on you." You know, all the emotional stuff which was probably what caused....that to happen in the first place.

When it took her some time to reply, Lewis did finally glance back down, feeling just a tiny bit awkward to be staring at her for that long. He should probably feel awkward staring at her in the first place. Especially because he wasn't any good at reading facial expressions anyway so there just was no plausible reason for him to look at her face for so long.
Well, except for the fact that somehow he just liked looking at her face.
Which he shouldn't.
Glancing back up at her when she did finally reply, Lewis frowned, actually frowned at what she said. "What, no! You don't have to apologize. I'm...glad you told me." He had even got up from his seat as if that would help her see that there was absolutely no need for her to be sorry. No need. He kept his distance, however, so it would be a little easier for him to say what he said next. "I'm sorry for just...leaving you down at the lake." He muttered, this time pointedly not looking at her but rather down to the ground.

Wait...he was? Now Kurumi was really REALLY confused. If he hadn't been avoiding her, or seemed to at least, about what she had said about her mother and all that emotional baggage...then that left only one option. Kurumi bit her bottom lip and shuffled her feet some more, aimlessly kicking what she thought was a stone but was really the skull of a mouse. Good thing she didn't notice this. She would have wibbled.
"Lewis...what...happened?" she asked, averting her eyes as well. "I mean...why did you run away?" Kurumi bit her lip again, both wanting to know and not wanting to. She felt confused, more confused than she had been for a long time and her right hand gripped the letter in her pocket - the one to Jonathan. Why couldn't he just be here right now? She felt like a firecracker ready to explode. Even if the Slytherin wasn't much of a talker, he was a good listener and his arms was really all the comfort the Gryffindor needed.
But...he wasn't here...and she needed that emotional connection...which frightened her. She looked up now, towards Lewis that is, and waited.

Okay, he really wished he hadn't got up from his seat right now. He felt pretty awkward just standing there. But then again, he'd probably be feeling pretty awkward sitting too. This whole situation was just way too awkward for his liking. Which was why he'd been hoping to avoid it. Avoid this sort of conversation. Avoid having to actually think about everything. What it all meant. And what exactly was happening.
Lewis only glanced up at her again for just a second upon hearing the question he had dreaded the most. Yes, what HAD happened? And even though he really wanted to take a step forward he instead took one back, almost stumbling over a little stone on the ground in the process. "I...nothing. Nothing happened." He started pinching the bridge of his nose absently, still not looking up at her. He wanted to leave. Badly.
"Nothing. I'm sorry." At this he did finally look back up and met her gaze, biting his lip subconsciously. No, nothing had happened. Nothing at all. And nothing would ever happen. Right?

Nothing? Is that really what that had been? Nothing?
Kurumi pouted her lips for a moment, not necessarily disappointed, but more because now she was even more confused than before. She had been known to be rather clueless when it came to boys and reading signals. Not to mention that she was even more clueless when it came to her own feelings. She had told Jonathan that she liked French bread for Merlin's sake!
Her pout was a little more obvious when he took a step backwards, clearly meaning that she had done something wrong. Why else would he avoid getting closer to her? Kurumi didn't want to think about that, so she tried to focus her eyes on something...anything else... but not even the beautiful snowy owl up in the rafters was enough.
"Nothing..." she repeated softly. "It...didn't feel like...nothing..." Had she misunderstood what was going on? Was she being toyed with? The latter seemed very unlikely, Lewis was no Slytherin, so it must be the first one, yes? She had misunderstood what was going on. Subconsciously, Kurumi's have went to her nose and she touched it while she continued to chew on her bottom lip.

Subconsciously, Kurumi's have went to her nose and she touched it while she continued to chew on her bottom lip.
What he saw when he looked back up made him swallow hard and chew on his lower lip some more. Kurumi looked pretty upset. This was bad. And he didn't even know why. Wasn't that the truth? Nothing HAD happened and it was probably best to keep it that way too. No, not probably, definitely. He had only said what he thought she wanted to hear. Which was him reassuring that nothing had happened down at the lake. So why was she upset?
Oh. He had hurt her feelings?! Really? How? "No...I meant...it's not that it didn't-" Lewis struggled for words, not really sure what to say or what she wanted to hear. And the fact that he could feel his cheeks flushing with color and his heartbeat increase wasn't helping. Of course it hadn't been nothing. But he couldn't exactly SAY that, right? All he wanted right now was to be anywhere else but here.
Or well, all he dared to want right now.
"-it wasn't nothing." He finally ended up saying softly, averting his gaze back down to his hands. After a short moment of silence he cleared his throat and added, "I just meant...it's fine." Whatever it was. All he knew was that this conversation wasn't going to end well. Or at least he couldn't really see a way for it to do that. So it was probably best to just stop talking about this now.

Kurumi sort of just stood there while Lewis fumbled around his words. Her mind was blank. Nothing was happening at all. It was like someone had turned off the lights and left a vacancy sign stuck to her forehead. Kurumi's body didn't move, hand still on her nose, and her eyes remained frozen and unblinking looking down at the floor.
Suddenly, Kurumi looked up and her body untensed just in time to hear Lewis say it's fine. Wait...what was fine? Kurumi realized that her hand was still on her nose, and she quickly removed it and shoved it back into her pockets, her cheeks flushing more. What...did Lewis mean by it's fine? Confused, Kurumi cocked her head to the side and debated sitting down. She wasn't feeling too well all of a sudden. "What do you mean...it's fine?" she asked slowly. "You mean...we are still friends?"
Kurumi squirmed uncomfortably in the crate she was now sitting on. Her left hand began to play with a few strands of it, twisting it around her finger and glancing between the floor and Lewis. He was going to say yes, right?

Kurumi squirmed uncomfortably in the crate she was now sitting on. Her left hand began to play with a few strands of it, twisting it around her finger and glancing between the floor and Lewis. He was going to say yes, right?
Lewis glanced up just in time to see Kurumi giving him a confused look with her head slightly cocked to the side. Why was SHE confused? Yes, HE was confused but why was she confused too? He was trying to 'unconfuse' things for her so she could just go on living her life and not think about what had happened...or almost happened, or whatever. She had enough problems as it was. No need to add to the pile. That would be a selfish thing to do.
So why on Earth could she not just let it go?!
After a moment of just watching her while chewing on his lip, Lewis ended up just nodding in reply to her question. "Yes. Friends...just friends." He hadn't intentionally stressed the just but it had somehow come out that way anyway. So now that they'd defined their err relationship, things could just go back to normal, right? Only why was it still not any less difficult to be in the same room with her, then?
Lewis barely contained a small groan of frustration as he rubbed the back of his neck absently, his eyes now on the grate Kurumi had sat down on. This normal thing wasn't going to be easy. And what was 'normal' anyway?
