| | Transfiguration Lesson II
The door to the classroom is wide open, ready for you to enter. All the desks are in their usual positions, in fact the only unusual thing is that Professor Magnus' desk is not covered in paperwork and folders.
No, today it has several buckets lined up, each containing freshly cut and neatly tied flowers that Professor Bentley had been so kind as to let the Transfiguration professor take from the greenhouses that morning. They are in four colours - Hogwarts house colours - of red, blue, green and yellow. Some have thorns, hence the request for gloves, but all are ready to be used later in the lesson.
If you are seated near the front, you would also probably see as you walk past, a cardboard box just positioned on the floor in front of the blackboard. Filled with tiny metal things.
Professor Magnus is in her usual place - perched on the edge of her desk ready to greet you, a smile on her face. OOC: The lesson itself won't be starting until later tonight GMT, so please keep any chatting to a minimum. And it will be open for a few days so you guys don't need to worry about it going too fast, or not having time to participate much. I promise to spread my posts out enough to give you all time. ^___^ |

Harvey decided to do it again.. so he got another thimble. He then closed his eyes and saw the vase that he wanted in his head again.. and he then concentrated on that image that he had in his head and decided to try again.. everyone was doing it so why couldnt he.. ok.. not all of them were doing it .. some were turning desks into flowers.. or breaking the ones they make.. but he would get this right .. he wanted to.. he needed to..
So he looked at the thimble and he then tried again.. " Floreneo!" he said as he did the 3 clockwise circular wand movements away from the thimble .. and as before the thimble started transforming.. and just when Harvey thought he had done it.. he saw that the transformation was sprouting some other stuff that he did NOT imagine in his head.. and then he saw it.. his new product.. definitely NOT what he imagined.. why was he suddenly having trouble in Transifiguration.. it used to be one of those fun classes that he got and understood completely. But at least this one could hold some flowers.. but never mind.. there was no harm in trying yet again.

Elise tried the incantation a few times before imitating the wand movement. Once she was confident with what she was doing, she pulled a thimble out of her pocket and set it on the table. Twirling her wand the way Professor Magnus instructed, she then shwished it as if it was a fairy wand.
"Floreneo," she whispered. The thimble grew taller, sure. But it still looked like an oversized thimble. "Reverto."
"What'd I do wrong this time?!" she mumbled before preparing to try again, visualizing the actual vase that she wanted. "Floreneo," she said, a little clearer this time.
The thimble shuddered before turning transparent and spinning around quickly. When it finally stopped, Elise saw a delicate glass vase on her desk. It looked alright... Hopefully it wouldn't break when she touched it.

Harvey put this new vase to one side and got hold of another thimble and decided to try again but this time with more concentration.. he visualised the vase that he wanted.. NOT the ones that he had already created no.. no.. he wanted this yellow one.. so he put the thimble on the desk and got ready to create this vase..
He pointed his wand at the thimble.. " Floreneo!" he said as he created 3 clockwise circles moving away from the thimble.. and once again the thimble started to transform.. it grew and changed shape and for once it was kind of going the way he would imagine it to go for the vase that he wantd to create.. so he continued to watch.. but soon he realised that this was still NOT the vase that he wanted.. and sure enough when the transformation was complete he could see it was NOT what he imagined.. this vase was actually MUCH better than what he had orginally wanted.. the other one was too plain.. but even though this was a mistake he loved this one better.. maybe he did an extra circle and thats why there were four bubble things in this design.. he would count how many he does on the next try.
But he knew that he would have to try and create the one that he had originally imagined.. if he had imagined this one then that would be ok.. but since it wasnt he knew that he had to get the one he imagined as he was still not able to do it correctly.. so he decided to do it one more time and put in ALOT of concentration.. he HAD to get it right this time..

After a few more tries at transforming the thimble into a vase with varying success, Silvia prepared to try one more time. She concentrated on the image in her head. Then, once again, she pointed her wand at the thimble and said "Floreneo," as she made the proper circling motions with her wand. It finally seemed to work properly! The thimble grew larger and changed color, and eventually transformed into a simple but nice wooden vase. Silvia hadn’t tried to go for anything too fancy yet; that would probably have been more difficult and besides, she was happy with the result. She shifted the vase to the side and placed another thimble at the center of the desk, deciding to practice a little more.

| A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
GASP!
Had the Professor just called him Daichi? Instead of Mr.Katharos?!
Now he KNEW he was doing something good! The Slytherin beamed brightly as he smiled back before looking at his thimbase on the desk. He wanted to try again and... hopefully it wouldn't break like that students vase did...
Grabbing his wand, Daichi pointed it at his thimbase and moved it in a circle. "Floreneo!" he said as he circled his wand three time clockwise while concentrating with all his might. His tongue stuck out a little bit in concentration and he frowned.
Slowly, the ThimbAse started to change again and to his suprise it changed further than his previous attempt. Biting his lip , he did a little prayer and hoped it would work. When the vase was done Daichi looked at it as his mouth dropped open for a second time. He was really getting better at this! ...Magic thing! "Cute Duckies! I did it~!"
Grinning PROUDLY, Daichi lowered his wand and holstered it back in his wrist holster. He looked at his vase and thought it was funny how the bottom was still made of transparent glass while the top was still the greyish colour from the thimble.
But who cared?! He had done it! Doing a little victory dance by moving his hips from side to side and held his arms up in mid air in silent celebration... cause he wanted to celebrate this historic moment for him hehe.

Ella looked at her beautiful rainbow curvy vase and smiled. She decided since she had another perfectly good thimble on her desk she'd try and change that one as well. She could definitely use the practice. She pointed her wand at the thimble the way the Professor had showed, doing the circle motion as well. "Florene-aaaa-aaa-chooo!" Ella couldn't hold the sneeze in and flubbed the incantation. She looked around sheepishly, hoping not many people had noticed the incident. Thankfully nothing burst into flames and her thimble didn't even change, just shook a little. Probably more from the sneeze than from any magic Ella had produced. She decided she'd clean it before trying again. She pointed her wand at the items on the desk. "Scourgify!" |

Then again, seeing at how much the Gryffindor was struggling to concentrate right now it wouldn't surprise her all that much.
Shaking out her hands and flexing her fingers, Kurumi took a few deep breaths before repeating the wand movement. " Floreneo," she said with a little more vigor in her voice this time. This time, the thimble began to shake and spin in a clockwise motion just like her wand movement had been. It began to glow a faint silvery color, much different than the white glow from when she had melted the thimble previously. In a few moments time, the thimble morphed into a vase. The material and texture wasn't any different from the thimble it had been moments earlier, but at least it hadn't melted and it looked like vase without any holes in it.
Oakey watched as Kurumi attempted her second try on a new thimble. He took note of her wand movement and repeated the image in his mind over and over until he felt he had it down. When Kurumi had finished the vase she had look devine. Wow Kurumi! That's a really cool looking vase My turn. Oakey took his second thimble and pushed aside his enlarged thimble to the side of his desk. Okay Oakey just repeat a what Kurumi did and you'll get just as cool of vase as hers. In a clockwise motion Oakey moved his wand upwards in circles. The thimble followed it twisting amd growing with his movements. As he moved his wand away to finish the transfiguration the bottom of the vase had fallen on itself and formed an ugly result.
He blinked at this one and then looked at her vase and back at his. It's uh an artistic representation He tried for this excuse.

Right. Practical application of a learned spell. That should have been pretty simple, but Selina had been dazing for a majority of the lesson, which was her fault in all aspects, but still she was sort of lost. Thankful she had caught the back end of Mangus' directions as to what they were doing. So the Gryffindor had a pretty good idea as to what was going on... for the most part.
With the thimble laying flat on the table she slowly outlined the direction of the spell. She slowly twisted her wand to move clockwise three times slowly. With each time she turned it she said the spell carefully. Along with that she moved the wand up and away from the thimble and back down with each circle. Finally with one last, "Floreneo!"
She watched as the spell seemed to do nothing. What in Merlin's beard. Finally, it seemed to respond, but not as well as she would have liked. It seemed that her vase was a tad.. off.

Kurumi tapped her wand against the vase she had just transfigured, sending a sharp tinking sound into the air, before looking at Oakey. " You are really giving me too much credit," she half laughed half sighed. As a fifth year, she really should be able to go much more than simply changed the shape of the thimble and make it grow. She could produce similar, if not the same, results with charms. " The base material is still the same as the thimble..." Unlike his that had actually changed materials. See, Oakey, too much credit.
Kurumi watched as Oakey gave it another go. When the transformation was complete, Kurumi tapped his result with her wand and it made a very different result than her own had. " Artistic representation or not, you managed to change the properties of the base material," she nodded in approval. That was the hardest step, to her at least. " Just a little more concentration and I am sure you will get the shape right." Besides, there were probably people out there that liked that folded on top of itself look.
Picking up thimble number three this time, Kurumi repeated the wand movement, making more graceful and less sharp clockwise circles this time. " Floreneo," she said once more, pleased to see the same glow that had happened minutes earlier. Soon, her thimble had changed shape again into that of a simple glass vase. Phew.
Please that she had changed the base material, Kurumi leaned back in her seat a bit. She needed to clear her mind of all her...distractions...so that she could make something a little more elaborate on her fourth attempt.

| Toothless - Napoleon of Crime - Gryffinclaw - Owl Emissary - Pirate Auror - DoctorDonna When the professor gave them permission to start practicing on the spell in earnest, Gideon starred at his collection of thimbles. Only three since he had already stuffed the rest he had grabbed in his bag for homework. The 5th year tried to think of what he was looking for in a vase before picking up his wand once more ready to give it a go. "Floreneo," he cast as he moved his wand into the required point and clockwise circles. His hand slowly moving it up as they had been shown and his classmates and already tried as he pictured a random vase in his mind. As Gideon watched for reaction, the thimble seemed to be changing, gradually taking the form similar to itself yet obviously larger. He was soon greeted by a metal vase-like object and looking it over he let out a sigh of relief that at least it seemed half-way decent. Putting it back down on the table, he gave a simple "Reverto" to bring it back to normal which certainly moved more smoothly.

Zhenya looked back down at her silver, thimble looking vase. She shook her head and pointed her wand at it and said "Reverto," and it went back to a thimble.
She put her wand down and shook her hands, maybe there was some BAD energy in them! Then she rolled her head around and heard a few cracks. That felt better.
She picked her wand up again, and pointed it at the thimble saying "Floreneo!" and it popped upwards and outwards. It was STILL silver, STILL resembled a thimble and STILL had the same design pattern as the thimble. What was happening? She was getting quite frustrated and raised her hand. "Professor, what am I doing wrong? It won't turn into a vase that's not just a big thimble," she said, her voice slightly breaking in frustration.

Violet was really happy that the professor praised her for her vase creation. She took out her second thimble from her bag and placed it on the table. She pointed her wand down vertically, turned it three times clockwise and said out loud again. "Floreneo!" Instantly the thimble started to wobble again and fell over. Violet frowned at her thimble. Why didn't it change to a vase? Then, it popped in her mind. I forgot to swish it back upward! She did the movements again, but this time she swished her wand upwards and the thimble started to wobble. After a few seconds, it morphed into another pretty purple purple vase. She clapped delightfully at the beautiful vase she had made and placed both of them in front of her wand. Now which vase to choose from? The blue one or the purple one

Vlimia decided to try again on her second thimble, this time going for something a little less odd than her previous creation. Or at least a little less anatomically heart-shaped, and weirdly rainbow. "Okay Vlim, you can do this - you can make a vase that isn't totally weird." She said to herself, looking at her second silver thimble. As she got ready to do the spell, her mind drifted to a game of chess she had played with her big brother. Shaking that from her mind, Vlimia did the complicated wand movement and said "Floreneo!" Vlimia watched her little thimble morph into a vase... if you could call it that. It was more of an optical illusion or two halves of chess peices put together. At least it definitely wasn't rainbow.

Oh. Right. Floreneo. She'd just try that one again, Sierra as she didn't even get past the Flor sound earlier. Just so she wouldn't run into the same issue she ran into before, Sierra said the incantation out loud a few times. "Floreneo," she said. "Floreneo." Pause. "Floreneo." There. That should do it. She really should remember the incantation this go round.
She went through all the wand movements once again. She pointed her wand downwards, vertical, and right near the thimble. Remembering that intent was also important, she focused for a moment on a pretty, green vase. It was wide at the bottom and more narrow on the top. Then she moved her wand in three clockwise circles, drawing the wand away from the thimble each time she completed a circle. "Floreneo!" she said.
She blinked as the thimble transfigured into the same pretty, green vase she'd imagined.

"But, uhhh, the flowers are real, so....Maybe keep trying?" He was still staring at his hole-y creation when he heard the Professor comment about it. He looked up, trying to think of a reasonable explanation, but instead uttered "Yes Professor. A vase that can hold water." best to to accept that his spells still needed work than to offer a porous argument.
Vickers reached out for a third thimble, this time making sure he familiarizes himself with the feel of the metal object. After rolling the piece a few times in his fingers he set it back down on the table then repeated the wand movement. "Floreneo!" The thimble swirled once again, growing wider and larger and for the first time, keeping its metal properties. With a rolling clunk the new vase settled solidly onto the desk.
Gasp. "It worked?"
Eager hands takes hold of the vase as bespectacled eyes examines the new creation. No holes-- other than the one on top where the flowers would go in. He rasps his knuckles against the body-- it sounded nice and solid and unbreakable. He puts the vase back down, happy that he finally had a successfully transfigured ugly vase.

| Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia Vashti decided to practice the wand movement before doing any spell-casting. The incantation seemed simple enough to say; it was the wand movement that looked tricky. So she tried it, pointing her wand down vertically and slowly moving it in the three clockwise circles. She did this a few times, trying to get the feel of it before she attempted it with the incantation.
Finally, she decided it was time to actually practice the spell. Placing one thimble in the middle of her desk, Vashti carefully performed the wand movement and said, "Floreneo." Slowly the thimble grew and enlarged and changed its shape into the typical curved vase-like shape...but it still looked exactly like a thimble. A vase-sized thimble. That...definitely wasn't right. "Reverto." The thimble went back to its original state.

While Alyssa waited for the Professor to tell them to stop practising, she decided to try transforming another thimble into a vase again. This time she decided to be a little bit more adventurous. She imagined what her vase would look like. She decided on the color and the shape. While concentrating on the shape of the vase, she picked up another thimble and placed it in front of her. Pointing her wand down in a vertical position, Alyssa swished her wand in a clockwise circular motion three times, each time as she completed one circle, she moved her wand upwards and outwards and away from the thimble. When she completed the third circle she said the incantation " FLORENEO" while still concentrating very hard on the shape of the vase and what she wanted the spell to do.
As like before a beam of light shot out from her wand, and engulfed the thimble. As the beam slowly disappeared, Alyssa was delighted to see that her vase had turned out exactly the way she wanted it to be. This lesson was getting really interesting.

Then she shook her head. "Oh no I went counter clock wise instead of clock wise with her wand movement. "Reverto" she said as the thimble went back to it's normal. She looked over at Laura "How are you doing Laura? You look like your getting the hang of it." Minerva smiled at her friend and turned back to the thimble thinking about how she wanted it to look.

| ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jory wanted to get this right- not like his disastrous performance with the photo frame.
With the thimble in front of him, Jory visualised a white vase with simple blue clouds painted on, its shape would be shaped like a beaker from a science lab.
Pointing his wand in the vertical position, and switched his wand in the clockwise circular motion three times, moving the wand away everytime a circle was completed. "Floreno!'' he said concentrating with all his might and ready to control any excitement. He had learned well from his previous practice attempts.
After the light had cleared, which had shot out of his wand rather brightly, Jory was extremely pleased to see there was an exact replica of the vase he has visulised in front of him.

Justin had been practicing the spell for quitw a while. Then he thought of a wonderful vase he had seen once and as he moved his wand clockwise around his thimble he kept that image in his mind as he said, " Floreneo." as he did and bringing his wand up as his spell pulled the thimble tall and it's color changed into a beautiful light shade of purple. Wide at it's base as it flared out only slightly towards it's mouth. He stood back and looked at it. It was just as he had pictured it. He glanced over at Minnie and smiled slightly.

After the teacher said what to do Nate got ready. He made sure he could do the wand movement. Check. He made sure he knew the incantation. Check. He made sure he had his thimble looking thing in front of him. Check. Now that he knew he had everything he was ready. He grabbed his wand from his holster and pointed it at the thimble. He then did the motion while saying "Floreneo!" Before his very eyes the thimble turned into a vase. He then stared in amazement. Unfortunately he had to turn it back into it's original form. So he did the motion while saying "Reverto!" It then turned back into it's original form.

Vlimia focused on her third thimble. Third time was the charm, right? Instead of visualising the vase she wanted (because that turned out to become two large chess peices), Vlim visualized water. What was more simple than water? She pointed her wand vertically, and then did the movement where it looked like you were trying to twirl your magic off the wand like a ribbon. "Floreneo!" She said, visualizing water clearly. After a moment, her little thimble started to grow and transform into something blue and glassy... the end result was, in Vlimia's opinion, her best work. The vase was definitely a vase, not chess peices or a rainbow heart. But she quite liked the other vases, in a different way. She liked this because it was definitely a vase and would probably get her a good grade. She liked the chess peices becuse they were fun to look at. Vlim liked the rainbow heart because it was so unique and fun. Seeing all of them lined up together was very nice. And to think they all used to be thimbles!

Professor i did a second time!" Annabelle said happily. It was so nice when the kids got excited at being able to do something, and this Hufflepuff certainly was. "Well done, Miss Lecium. Very nice!" She put her wand down and shook her hands, maybe there was some BAD energy in them!
Hmm. Isabelle surveyed the vase in front of her and chewed on her bottom lip. "What are you thinking about when you cast the spell?" she asked, putting her hands behind her back and turning her gaze to the girl. "It could be that you're paying too close attention to the thimble, rather than the image of what you want it to look like. Try thinking of something completely different and see how you get on."
Walking back to the front, Isabelle clapped her hands to get the classes attention. "All right everyone, I'd like to move on to the next part of the lesson. Those of you with more than one vase, please choose which you like the best and use that - the others can be reverted back and used for homework."
Clearing the board of the words on there, Issy added a new one instead - AGUAMENTI. "We'll be using this charm to fill the vases and test them out for any imperfections." She gave a little knowing smile to everyone when she said that. Just because they looked good, didn't mean they'd hold water. "Now, we won't be learning it today, even though it could be classed as a transfiguration as well, considering it conjures water from your wand - no what I need is a few helpful volunteers that can already perform it to a standard that they are able to control the jets of water." No mess classroom, that was the aim. And would be nice.
Isabelle looked around at the older ones mainly. The younger students might know the spell, but controlling it was another matter entirely. "You'll be filling your classmates vases for them. Who would like to help, hands up please!" OOC: I'll probably pick 3 or 4 people for this, and then you'll be able to interact with each other more when testing the vases. ;P |

Lilly instantly put up her hand. She liked volunteering for things. She'd heard of that spell, but what did it do? Then the Professor told them. Water, that was it. She was volunteering to fill vases with jets of water? That suited Lilly. She'd never used the spell, but she could try anyway. It couldn't be that hard, saying the incantation and filling up a vase with water. She put the best vase away, of the two she'd done. One still looked very like a thimble.
