The door to the classroom is wide open, ready for you to enter. All the desks are in their usual positions, in fact the only unusual thing is that Professor Magnus' desk is not covered in paperwork and folders.
No, today it has several buckets lined up, each containing freshly cut and neatly tied flowers that Professor Bentley had been so kind as to let the Transfiguration professor take from the greenhouses that morning. They are in four colours - Hogwarts house colours - of red, blue, green and yellow. Some have thorns, hence the request for gloves, but all are ready to be used later in the lesson.
If you are seated near the front, you would also probably see as you walk past, a cardboard box just positioned on the floor in front of the blackboard. Filled with tiny metal things.
Professor Magnus is in her usual place - perched on the edge of her desk ready to greet you, a smile on her face.
OOC: The lesson itself won't be starting until later tonight GMT, so please keep any chatting to a minimum. And it will be open for a few days so you guys don't need to worry about it going too fast, or not having time to participate much. I promise to spread my posts out enough to give you all time. ^___^

Ready to start practicing Hannah placed one of her thimbles in front of her she grabbed her wand and concentrated on everything the professor had said to do earlier. She thought about what she wanted her vase to look like. She felt like she was ready so with three clockwise circles that inched a bit away with each circle she said "Floreneo." She looked at the thimble disgustedly...why didn't it work? Maybe she was thinking too much of how she wanted her vase to turn out instead of concentrating on the spell itself.
She took a deep breath and again imagined what she wanted the vase to look like. This time she really concentrated on the spellwork. She again made three clockwise circles and inched them away from the starting point a little at a time. "Floreneo." This time she had managed to get it right. A beautiful purple vase appeared before her eyes. I did it she thought! On the second try no less!

Amelia was determined to give this spell another go now and see if she could get the vase to look exactly like the one she had drawn.
She moved her vase off to the side and grabbed another thimble, placing it in front of her. Concentrate, Amelia. See it in your mind as well as on the paper Looking at her drawing, she then pointed her wand downwards and repeated the clockwise movement while moving it away from the desk. "Floreneo."
This time, her vase looked absolutely perfect. She was proud of herself. "I did it!" hehe To no one in particular.
She pointed at her thimble again said the spell with the wand movements,"Floreneo." She saw it looked really ugly again. She picked another thimble and tried again.

Now that she knew that there didn't need to be a specific inflection or anything to the incantation, as Professor Magnus had basically said that in her response to Kurumi, Stella felt a bit more positive about trying out the spell herself. Of course, by waiting she'd also found out it was possible to use the spell on more than just thimbles, but she wasn't planning on making any desk vases any time soon. Besides, that was what visualization was for. And in that respect, it was time to actually do more than just think about the spell components and perfect each of them on their own. It was time to actually try to change a thimble into a vase herself, and hopefully not break it.
Setting one thimble on the desk directly in front of herself, she moved the rest to one side so they didn't get in the way. She didn't want to waste any of them, after all, or end up with some mutant multi-thimble vase. She wanted something elegant, and as she set herself to cast, she thought about a simple, slender vase. "Floreneo," she cast, slowly circling her wand over the thimble as had been demonstrated multiple times, focusing on the picture in her head. She wanted the spell to work, and as she lowered her wand, a slow smile crept onto her face as the vase she had pictured blossomed out of the tiny thimble. It wasn't necessarily as pretty as some of the others that had been created, but she liked it. She could always try more complex vases later on.

Nodding at Professor Magnus went into further explanation about the way the spell worked, Kurumi made a little on her parchment about the wand movement being more important than the incantation for this spell. It made Kurumi wonder about other spells, and just what property it was behind the spell that made one more important than the other. Was in the the nature of the spell? For example, a charm versus a transfiguration spell? Or the complexity of the wand movement? For example, a wand movement that merely required a point when casting a spell implied that special caution should be taken with the incantation? It certainly gave the Gryffindor more to think about.
"Thank you, professor," Kurumi nodded. Focus on the wand movement. She could do that, hopefully.
Feeling confident now that she could attempt the spell, Kurumi removed her wand and held it downwards. Three clockwise circles later, Kurumi's wand was further away from where she had started, meaning it was higher up from the table. That should do it, right?

Pointing his wand down at the small thimble he swirled his wand upwards and spoke Floreneo. The thimble grew bigger and took the shape of a vase...but that was about it. It still made of metal and had the texture of a thimble. Wh-what'd I do wrong?!? He picked up his notes again and eyed them intensely. He had done exactly as he sketched out.
Hearing Oakey, Kurumi looked at his...rather large thimble. She hadn't seen him perform the spell, so she wasn't exactly sure where he had gone wrong if anywhere. "S-Sorry, Oakey," she said with a small smile. "I didn't see what you did. Did you perform three clockwise circles? It might just be a concentration issue. We can't all get our spells right on the first try."
In fact, Kurumi hadn't even attempted hers yet. Grabbing a handful of thimbles, Kurumi set them in a neat row on her desk and repeated the wand movement. Making tight clockwise circles. Kurumi moved her wand in the same manner as Professor Magnus had. "Floreno," she whispered and...erm...that wasn't supposed to happen. Her thimble was now a metal puddle on the table. "See?" she laughed.

Selena stared at the metal finger caps on her desk. "Alright little hats, time to turn into vases," Selena chirped, beaming at them before looking around. She twirled her wand between her fingers as she did so. Spotting the Gryffindor Cookie Prefect's melted puddle of something Selena was struck with a thought. "Your thing looks like snot. Would a pygmy puff eat it?" Selena asked with a smile on her face. Because a pygmy puff miiiight. It did look like snot after all. Right. Pygmy puffs and snot. What should Selena's vase look like?
Squeezing her eyes shut, Selena thought hard about what she wanted it to look like. GREEN. A lot of GREEN. And maybe... Slytherin-y? Yup. She opened her eyes and looked at the metal finger cap. Selena performed the wand movement, three turns clockwise going up up and away, and said clearly, "Floreneo."
Selena looked at the vase-- if you could call it a vase, that is. There was a green thingy that somewhat resembled a pygmy puff... except for the hole at the top, which she supposed was where she was supposed to put the flowers. Well... she had made a vase, so that was good enough, right? Selena took her wand and poked it. Ehhhh? It was... gooey? "EEEEWWWWWWWWWH. SNOT VASE."
Kent would love that. What was Selena going to do with a vase made of SNOT?!?!?

Sophie was now staring at Professor Magnus rubber vase. She wanted hers to look exactly like that one! Especially the bouncy part.
Okay. Focus. FOCUS!
Sophie looked down at her thimble and pictured the vase in her head. Rubber! Getting up and grabbing her wand once again, she pointed it down at the thimble. Concentrating even more, she made the three circles clockwise and moved her wand upwards. "Floreneo!" She watched as the thimble transfigured into a rubber vase that actually looked like it was made of clay! In a way.
Oh! OOOHHH!!! Sophie quickly put her wand on the desk and dropped the vase on the floor.
Boing.
A big smile spread on Sophie's face as she held her bouncy vase when it came back up. "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!" She herself bounced up and down, holding her vase up like a trophy. Oops... she was in class... "Sorry, Professor!" She quicky said before sitting down and placing her cool vase on the desk in front of her.
It was perfect that it looked like clay. Any of the flowers would look lovely in it! Sophie sat there, admiring and poking her bouncy rubber vase.

Flipping the thimble over in her hand, Isabelle turned her grin to the rest of the class. "Those of you who said this is a thimble are quite correct. But we won't be using it for sewing today - we'll be transfiguring vases for these flowers to go in later on," she gestured to coloured blooms in the buckets.
"The spell itself is formed from two Latin words..." Picking up the chalk, Issy decided to write it on the board herself rather than use magic. "Flora, meaning flowers, or plants. And Teneo, meaning 'to hold'."
"To hold flowers. A vase. Any kind that your imagination can come up with. And the flowers themselves will be for later, so you can all have some fun arranging them. Now, before I show you the wand movements, could you all come up and collect a handful of thimbles - you'll need some more for homework, so feel free to store them in your bags." Isabelle used her foot to shift the box to the front of the room. It was a little heavy, as there were hundreds of the things in there.
Vlimia took notes on the spell meaning and incantaion, and then walked up to the box of thimbles. They really were quite shiny, all together in a box. She grabbed a handful of them before they blinded her, and stashed a few in her bag when she got back to her seat. Vlim stuck a thimble on her thumb, and tapped it against her desk softly. After tapping out her favourite song from an old band, The Weird Sisters, she took the thimble off.

Beaming at them all, she pocketed her wand again and picked up the vase. It was made of rubber, but they didn't know that - so she bounced it on the ground to prove it had worked properly. Vlima listened intently and wrote down the wand movement carefully as the proffesor said it.

Vlim practised the movements without pointing at anything for a while, just to get the hang of it. When she was pretty confident, Vlimia did the complex wand movement. "Floreneo!" She said, watching her thimble transform into quite an odd vase. It kind of looked like a rainbow heart... but darker than an ordinary rainbow. She hadn't even been aiming for a certain vase, and her subconscious mind gave her this? When she looked at it more closely, Vlimia actually found that she liked it quite a bit. She was very proud of the vase she had made.

Thimble now in her possession, Sierra glanced up toward the professor and watched the demonstration. She regarded the professor's transfiguration with an eyebrow raise then turned away to begin practicing. She placed her thimble on the desk in front of her then got a good grip on her wand. She pointed her wand just as she'd been shown--downwards, vertical, and right near the thimble.
After moving her wand in three clockwise circles that drew her wand further away and upward, she cast. "Flor..." Pause. "Flor..." Dear Merlin! What was the incantation again? Sierra lowered her wand then peered slowly around the classroom. Maybe she could pick up on the incantation from someone else's casting. No way would she ask another student for help...

Violet had 3 thimbles in her hand as she made her way back to her seat. She placed one of them on the table and put the rest of them in her pocket. As she watched the professor do the wand movement, Violet followed her movements very slowly with her wand. It was a very complicated task for her and it made her head hurt from concentrating so hard. The professor sent them off to work and Violet kept practicing the wand movement slowly until she was confident that she got it right.
Violet turned towards her thimble and doing exactly what she had been practicing, she pointed her wand down vertically, circled it three times clockwise, and then swished it up wards as if were a little children's fairy wand. The thimble gave a little wobble here and there and Violet smiled as it sproud into a beatuful blue vase She raised up her hand excitedly, "Look professor! I did it on my first try!" She beamed up happily at the teacher.

Alyssa looked at the two vases that she had transfigured so far and decided to try again. She placed another thimble in front of her and pictured an image of what the vase would look like in her head. She then picked up her wand, and pointing it vertically down right next to the thimble, she concentrated on the transfiguration spell. She swished her wand in clockwise circular movements each time moving her wand upwards and outwards as she completed each circle. First circle....second circle....third circle. "FLORENEO" she said on completing the spell. A beam of light shot out of her wand and surrounded the thimble in front of her.
As the light disappeared in its place was the most lop sided vase she had ever seen. She started to giggle when she saw it. 'Oops looks like I lost my concentration there for awhile' Alyssa thought to herself and was going to revert the vase back into a thimble but then decided to keep it just to remind herself that she needed to really concentrate on the spell AND the image of the vase she wanted in order for her to properly transfigure the thimble into the vase she wanted.

Anya eyed her thimble. The more she looked at it the more Peter Pan came to mind. She smiled a little at the thought of a boy confusing a thimble and a kiss.
Huh? Um... right. Practicing. They were supposed to be practicing. She repeated the word under her breath until she got it right.
Alright. She held her wand directly above her thimble with the wand tip facing down. "Floreneo." she said as she pulled her wand back in progressively larger clockwise spirals.
The thimble grew in front of her. She blinked a few times seeing the final product.
Umm... she can just pretend she wanted a vase like that right?
Reaching over she grabbed a quill and quickly scribbled a note on her parchment.
'Note to self... STOP thinking about Peter Pan.

After practicing for several minutes, Silvia decided it was time to actually give the spell a try. She pointed her wand vertically at the thimble, swished it around clockwise three times and said "Floreneo."
She watched as the thimble grew larger and...huh? It still looked like a thimble, only larger and a bit flatter on the bottom. Well, she guessed she could technically use it as a flower vase, but it really wasn't attractive at all. "I must not be concentrating on what I want it to look like enough," she muttered to herself. It was definitely a disappointment for one who supposedly had a good imagination; but then again, it was just her first try and she had been focusing on the incantation and the wand movements. "Okay, just need to concentrate and try again." She closed her eyes for a moment and tried to picture in her mind what she wanted the vase to look like.

Jen thought a minute as she tried to figure out what the professor had said, she couldn't understand her a bit.
"Flereneo!"
The thimble had spun and fell on the floor. Oh no... Jen thought. She looked on the ground. The thimble was still there un transfusormed.

No. And at least he had managed to make something, however fragile it turned out to be. "You can vanish that and try again. We've got plenty of thimbles."
Blushing furiously, the Ravenclaw started to stammer "I-I-I... I dont-- I mean it wasnt very--" strong? durable? "-- good. I mean the quality.... it broke easily." Yeah so much for getting it right the first time. Hurriedly he vanished the broken pieces then meekly reached out for a new thimble.
He sat there staring at the small metal piece, trying to visualize something far more durable than the first one he conjured up. Finally he mustered up the courage to try again, pointing his wand and twisting his wrist thrice in the upward, clockwise movement "Floreneo." The thimble swirled in its spot, growing in size until if finally settled to look like this.

Banishing the mild disaster that was her first attempt, Kurumi reached for thimble number two and set it in front of her on the table before flashing a nervous smile at Oakey. This would be...slightly embarrassing if she wasn't able to at least make her thimble grow in size this time around. Then again, seeing at how much the Gryffindor was struggling to concentrate right now it wouldn't surprise her all that much.
Shaking out her hands and flexing her fingers, Kurumi took a few deep breaths before repeating the wand movement. "Floreneo," she said with a little more vigor in her voice this time. This time, the thimble began to shake and spin in a clockwise motion just like her wand movement had been. It began to glow a faint silvery color, much different than the white glow from when she had melted the thimble previously. In a few moments time, the thimble morphed into a vase. The material and texture wasn't any different from the thimble it had been moments earlier, but at least it hadn't melted and it looked like vase without any holes in it.

Good job she had a strong voice as the next question came from the other side of the room. Listening intently, she nodded, ready to respond. "There is another spell that would do that, it has a slightly different meaning to it. Can't remember what it is off the top of my head. Though, there is no reason why you couldn't try and make the vase shorter and more squat, if you wanted."
Tayla nodded as Professor Magnus responded. "Thank you, Professor."
She decided to practice once more. "A nice, clay flower vase please, Tayla!" she talked to herself. She closed her eyes and imagined it with her head before performing the spell on her next thimble.
Keeping the picture in her head, she pointed her wand directly downwards and vertical near the thimble. She made three clockwise circles moving farther away and upwards as she said, "Floreneo!" A sudden thought of a flower pot appeared in her head and Tayla quickly tried to focus on the vase she had in mind a moment ago.
Tayla watched as the thimble transformed gradually into a clay vase - sort of. It looked like something between a vase and a pot, and deformed, too. "Hmm...well, it's clay!" Tayla sighed. But she definitely needed more practice.
Laura was not happy at all, the Professor was just being mean, this Professor had just gone from being one of her favorates to being one on her list of Professor she hated, she was going second just behind the evil nurse.
Laura looked at the Professor and jumped as she slammed down the thimble on her desk, on that was in she was very angry now, it wasn't as if it was her fault that the floor was slippery was it, she hadn't actually fallen on purpose and there was no way she could stop the spell once she had started it.

Laura did her deep breaths and then sat down, she was too scared to practice anymore incase the Professor took more points of her for no reason what so ever.
Something about this child made Isabelle want to sigh very loudly - probably the excuses. But she managed to hold it in. Instead she just gave her a stern look and raise of the eyebrows. "Laura, you have to remember that spell casting can be a dangerous thing. You need to make sure you are properly prepared before doing anything."
Now she did sigh a little when the girl sat down, seeming intent on not doing anything. "I don't want to be mean to any of you, but it's my job to make sure you all practice safely. Now, please, just take a few deep breaths, calm yourself, and make sure you are completely ready before trying again. But DO try again. Nobody gets anywhere by giving up."

Having left Laura to continue practice, under the watchful eye of her friend, Issy carried on her walk around the room - where she came across some very odd shaped vases. None more so than the one the Slytherin prefect had made. Interesting. "Perhaps you should try NOT thinking about snot so much? Just a suggestion..."

"Very good, Violet! It's very pretty. See if you can try something else different now, eh?" Because Issy wanted them all to be sure of their designs before they put any flowers in them.

Huh? Um... right.
Hmmm, a vase with lips prints all over it. Interesting.
"Valentine's Day is next month, Miss Phillips," Isabelle winked at the girl as she passed. A little gentle teasing never hurt.

Jen thought a minute as she tried to figure out what the professor had said, she couldn't understand her a bit.
"Flereneo!"
The thimble had spun and fell on the floor. Oh no... Jen thought. She looked on the ground. The thimble was still there un transfusormed.
"Ok, what did i do wrong this time?" Jen said outloud
Picking up the thimble off the floor as she came up to the Slytherin's desk, Issy placed it back down for her. "It could be because you said 'Flereneo' instead of 'Floreneo'. Take a deep breath and try again."

*blink*
Uhm ok.
Vickers reached out and hesitating for a second, took hold of the vase. It was made of hard plastic. Certainly this wouldnt break now... thing is he'd be hard pressed to think of flowers that wouldnt need water either.
O____________o
Well, that wasn't going to hold any water.
Isabelle had done a full circle of the room and was now back near where she'd started. And she was staring at the vase Vickers had just produced. "It's pretty," she said, nodding her head. "But, uhhh, the flowers are real, so....Maybe keep trying?"

Harvey now decided to actually attempt the spell and wand movement on his itty thimble. So he put a thimble in front of him and imagined a yellow vase.. he then rubbed his hands and picked up his wand and got ready to attempt this spell.
He then went over the incantation in his head Floreneo... Floreneo.. Floreneo.. he looked at his thimble and then he pointed his wand down over the thimble "Floreneo!" he then moved his wand in 3 clockwise circles moving away from the thimble and slowly but surely the thimble got bigger and changed color and just when Harvey thought he would have the vase he imagined the tranformation stopped and showed Harvey his final product.. now he did NOT imagine THAT.... Harvey raised a brow at what he had created .. nope definitely NOT what he wanted. He guessed more concentration was needed..

Jen repeated the circles with her wand vertical near the (well, above) the face
"Floreneo."
The face had transformed into a purple vacs with yellow spots.

Amelia had already made two vases so far, but she didn't see why she couldn't make some more right now. She did have plenty of thimbles after all, and she liked flowers. Maybe she could also give some of them to people as gifts. :3
This time she decided that she was not going to have a drawing when she attempted the vase. She wanted to try to make this vase red with gold swirls all around it. It would have a wide, circular base, and taper out need the top. The rim would be gold as well.
She held the image in her mind as she picked up another thimble and placed it in front of her. Pointing her wand downwards, she circled her wand three times clockwise, moving away from the desk. "Floreneo."
