Laura suddenly realised where she was going wrong the spell was the wrong one and hopefully she wouldn't get into trouble for saying it. "Floreneo, Floreneo, Floreneo, Floreneo." Laura said as she shook her wand, she then was shocked to see that instead of a vase appearing, the desk had disappeared and the floor where the desk was had turned into flowers, seriously had Laura missed the thimble by a bit and hit the desk, this was weird. "PROFESSOR HELP!!!!!!!!" Laura was freaking out, what had she done wrong. |
OOC: Sorry for any confusion. My OOC comment last night was in reference to off topic chatter, and not to do that. It didn't mean you couldn't go ahead and start practice - YOU CAN. Please do, if that's what any of you were waiting for. :) Quote:
"In this instance the wand movement is more important that any emphasis on the word. There is a tiny inflection on the O at the end, but the spell won't go horribly wrong if you don't do that. Just make sure the movement is correct, and you should be fine." Quote:

Isabelle took hold of the girls wand hand very gently, and pointed her wand downwards, directly towards the desk. "Now what you do is go clockwise three times slowly, as you say the spell. And with each circle you make, move you wand upwards and away from the thimble, like so." Slowly she moved her hand round in one circle, then pulled it up a little as she made the next circle. Then the same again as the did the last circle. "See? It's not as hard as it could look on first viewing. Go ahead and try it a few times before putting it together with the incantation if you're not sure." Quote:
Having shown the young one how to do the wand movement again, Isabelle was just about to go on a walkabout when the sound of breaking glass made her spin on the spot. She blinked a few times at the mess on the boy's desk, before looking him directly in the eyes. "Having problems Mister Vanderbilt?" That wasn't an amused smirk. No. And at least he had managed to make something, however fragile it turned out to be. "You can vanish that and try again. We've got plenty of thimbles." Quote:
At the shout for help, Isabelle rushed over and flourished her wand at the mess. Everything sprung back to how it was supposed to be - desk included. "Miss Hyde! Please try and be more careful! Honestly, I've never known anyone able to make spells do something they aren't designed to - aside from the odd melting," *coughKurumicough* "Pay close attention to the incantation, and please just say it the once when performing the spell and wand movement together. I don't want to be too hard on you because you're a first year, but I really am at a loss as to how you do it." The only explanation was the wrong spell being said. Surely that had to be it. It wasn't possible to change the floor and desk into flowers otherwise. "Any more lack of concentration and care and I shall be forced to take points from you. Somebody could get hurt." Carelessness causes injury. |
Taylor practiced the wand movement and then the spell, "Floreneo, Floreno Floreneo." After she felt comfortable with the wand movement and the spell, she put her thimble on the desk and held her wand vertical. "Floreneo." She said as she moved her wand in three clockwise circles, moving the wand upwards and increasing the size of the circle with each round. Tay invision a beautiful glass vase with a rose pattern on it but what she got was just a cloudy glass vase. Taylor tilted her head and smiled. She was happy that it wasn't that bad. |
Daichi looked at the thimble in front of him before looking up to watch how the new spell was performed. He bit his lip in concentration as he looked at after the Professor was done demonstrating he picked up the thimble and placed it closer to him on the desk. His eyes were suddenly drawn back to the Professor has she picked up her vase and...was she going to drop it?! The Slytherin jumped out of his seat and hid under the table, only his hair was sticking out from the surface. He was sure it was going to shatter and hurt them all! But....then it bounced and slowly Daichi got up from under the desk with an embarrassing blush on his cheeks while pretending he had dropped something earlier.... Letting his Phoenix feather wand fall out of his wrist holster, Daichi held it in his hand and stood up. Allowing himself better access to perform the spell. He pointed his wand downwards and took a breath for a second. Lafay had told him last year he needed to concentrate when performing magic. It was the key thing he lacked and it was one of the reasons why he failed many times. But this time , he was determined to succeed in one go! Still holding the wand downwards, he circled his wand three times clockwise like intructed and said "Floreneo!" and inched his wand away with every circle. Slowly...slower than how he had seen the thimble of the Professor change, his one did too. Daichi's mouth fell open as he stared at the piece of glass on the thimble. The thimble was still very visible, but Daichi only had his eyes turned on the bottom of the thimble where the glass of a vase was clearly visible. "Professor! look! i made a ThimbAse!" he said and pointed to the his half thimble half vase with pride. Hey, he was doing better than ever! Normally he would fail at the first attempt..second too..three years later as well so this was BIG! |
SPOILER!!: Professor Magnus Tayla took some thimbles for herself, setting one aside to use for class and keeping the rest in a pocket inside her bag. She took notes as the professor gave her lecture. SPOILER!!: Tayla's Transfiguration Notes Tayla made an extra note ("Imagination!!!") to herself in her notebook. Professor Magnus used it well to transfigure objects so nicely. She hoped she could do the same. "I want my vase made of clay," Tayla decided. "Floreneo...Floreneo...Floreneo," she said repeatedly without the wand movement. Then she practiced the wand movement without the words. That was a little trickier. "Point directly downwards...vertical, near object...three clockwise circles, moving farther away and upwards..." she said as she did the wand movement step by step. Tayla repeated the movements until she got more used to them. "Okay!" she said finally, taking her shiny metal thimble and setting it at the center of her desk. She pointed her wand as the professor did and braced herself. "One, two, three...Floreneo!" She moved her wand in three clockwise circles going farther from the object and upwards. "Cool," Tayla smiled as she saw the thimble changing. But she frowned a little when she realized it wasn't a clay vase at all. "Metal..." she sighed. "It doesn't look so bad to be honest," she thought to herself. "But it's not a clay flower vase." It looked like her shiny metal thimble just became longer and more slender. Instead of turning the metal vase back into a thimble, Tayla set it on one side of her table and decided to use another thimble. A question suddenly popped into her head. She looked around for the professor, and spotting her, raised her hand. "Professor Magnus, would the incantation be different if we'd want to turn an object into a flower pot instead of a flower vase? Or would we only need to imagine it differently?" Both the pot and the vase could, after all, be used 'to hold flowers' as the incantation literally meant. |
Alyssa decided that she was now read to try transfiguring one of the thimbles into a vase. She placed aside two thimbles as the Professor had suggested before picking up another one and placed it in front of her. Taking out her wand, she pointed it vertically downwards as near to the thimble as possible. Then she swished her wand in clockwise movements and as she swirled, she made sure that her wand movements moved upwards and away from the thimble. As she swirled her wand she conjured up the first image of what she wanted her vase to look like in her mind, and concentrated on it and the spell. Counting off the circles as she swished around in clockwise circles with her wand, the moment Alyssa completed her third and final circle, Alyssa said "FLORENEO". A beam of light appeared from her wand and enveloped the thimble. As the light disappeared over the thimble, in it's place stood a tall glassy looking vase. Alyssa smiled. This was exactly what she had wanted her vase to look like. Simple but classy. Alyssa figured that as she practiced, that she would get more creative with her designs. But for now, she was just happy that her spell had worked. |
She put a thimble in front of her and the others to the sire. She did the wand movements and said,"Floreneo." She saw it didn't like quite like she imaganged it so she tried again,"Reverto." |

Laura took up her wand and did the wand movement and said. "Floreneo." But as she said it she knocked the table and the thimble went off onto the floor and Laura couldn't stop the spell, where the table had been was now a vase. "I'm sorry Professor." Laura sighed, seriously it was an accident, hopefully the Professor would know that, well at least the spell worked. |
OKAY! Sophie felt ready now! Boucing vase! Boucing vase! She couldn't wait to have one of those! "Floreneo!" She exclaimed one last time. Yep, she was ready! Grabbing her wand, she stood up in front of her desk to make it easier to point it down vertically. Professor Magnus wouldn't mind, right? A lot of students were still walking around getting thimbles and this kind of stuff. Right! She had a big smile on her face and almost couldn't keep herself together. She reeeeeally wanted her vase to be all rubbery and bouncy!! Finally pointing her wand down at the thimble, she stared at the metal object for a fraction of seconds with wide eyes. Clockwise. Clockwise. OH, RIGHT! She shook her head and made the circular motion clockwise. She did it three times while moving her wand upwards. "Floreneo!" The thimble seemed to be pulled up with the wand. But it was just Sophie's impression. What had really happened was that the tiny object grew longer as her wand went upwards. It was now a long, slim and crooked metal... thing. ?????? Sophie put down her wand and stared at it. That was definitely not a bouncy rubber vase. She had been so excited that her spell lacked concentration. Sophie thought for a few moments. Would 'Reverto' work here? She pointed her wand at the metal... thing. "Reverto!" The metal object shrinked and was now a thimble again. |
Alyssa decided to keep the vase she had created and pulled another thimble over to practice the spell again. She first practiced the incantation just to make sure that she remembered it. "FLORENEO...FLORENEO...FLORENEO". Then she practiced the wand movements to the spell. Pointing her wand vertically downwards as close to the thimble that she could, she swished her wand in a circular spiral clockwise movement moving upwards and outwards away from the thimble, with every circular movement she made, counting off the circles. One....Two...Three... Now she was ready to transfigure another thimble. She pictured another image of the shape she wanted the vase to transfigure into. Concentrating hard on the image and the spell, Alyssa performed the wand movements and when she swished her wand to complete the last circle, Alyssa said,"FLORENEO" A beam of light shot out and surrounded the thimble. When it disappeared, in the place of the thimble, stood another colorful glass vase. Alyssa punched the air in triumph glad that she hadn't messed up the spell yet. |
Lilly stared at the thimbles in front of her, motionless. Oh yeah, they were meant to practice. "Floreneo!" she said firmly, pointing her wand at the thimble in front of her and doing the movements witha small flick. But she didn't do it well enough, because the thimble turned a pale blue, then back to a thimble. Maybe Lilly needed to picture the vase. Yes, that was it. She decided on a plain glass vase (she didn't want to make it too hard) carved with a few patterns, nothing too fancy. "Floreneo!" she said, concentrating hard on what was in front of her. A beam of light shot out from her wand after she finished the movements (point wand directly downwards, vertical, right near the object to be transfigured; three clockwise circles, moving wand further away, and upwards). Yup, that seemed to have worked. In front of the lioness, on the desk, standing there was a vase, not exactly as Lilly had pictured, but close enough anyway. She beamed, quite proud of what she'd produced. "Reverto!" Lilly said, as the vase shrunk and turned back into a thimble. |

Once Amelia was done with her sketch, she looked it over carefully. It was a skinny vase that moved outwards a little as it reached the rim. It was to be clear glass, and she had drawn pretty flowers on it. She proceeded to now colour the flowers in; some were yellow and some were purple. Standing up again, she now picked up a thimble and placed it at the front of the desk so that she was right before it. She then picked up her wand again and pointed it directly downwards near her thimble. She looked over to the drawing as she started moving the wand in the clockwise motion while moving it away from the desk. "Floreneo!" She had a vase that looked almost exactly like the drawing she had made. The shade of purple was just off a bit. |
Sighing probebly from a bad thought that might happen, she put her thimble on her desk and pointed her wand downward at it. She moved her wand 3 times in 3 clockwise circles (small) and moved her wand upward a little bit with each one. Jen thought a minute as she tried to figure out what the professor had said, she couldn't understand her a bit. "Flereneo!" |
Alex positioned her thimble on the desk and readied her wand. She concentrated and visualized the vase she wanted to create. It was a glass vase with pink and green swirls. She began to move her wand in a circular motion and said, "Floreneo". Well, the vase was glass and the swirls were there. Unfortunately, the shape was a little bit off. "I guess that's not horrible for my first try, Alex said. "I'll have to practice a few more times". |
Zhenya put a thimble in front of her work space. She looked over at Laura who was having a stern word said to her, and smiled. "Hey Laura, what kind of vase are you making?" She pulled her wand out and pointed it at the thimble just like Professor Magnus did. Then she said "Floreneo," and did three circles in the air, moving them upward as she continued. Nothing happened though, but the lip of the thimble spread out a bit. Well... it looked like a mini thimble vase. Maybe she could put grass in it? |
Text Cut: my own post so I know where I left off Once Lily was ready to attempt the spell, she pulled out a thimble and placed it on her desk. Focus... that was what she needed to do this spell, and hopefully with a better end than some people in the class that ended up with a lap full of glass... Lily closed her eyes, trying to picture what she wanted her vase to look like... maybe colorful with animals or something. After opening her eyes, Lily started the wand movements. "Floreneo..." Lily said as she finished with the movements and her vase appeared, all colorful but still full of holes... "Well, that's not right.." Lily said as she looked at her vase. "Reverto." She muttered turning her vase back into a thimble. Sighing Lily muttered to herself, "I guess I'm going to need to try again." Maybe next time she would have better luck. |
Since Ella's first attempt at a vase turned into something more resembling a doll toy she figured she would try again. She pointed her wand back at the thimble and concentrated on what she wanted to create-a colorful vase that was made of glass and quite curvy in build. If it came out correctly, maybe she could even give it to her mom for a nice gift. She brought herself back to the task at hand and once again began turning her wand in the clockwise circle motion, inching it away with every new circle she created. "Floreneo!" She looked down to see the thimble transformed into a beautiful Vase! She smiled wide and clapped her hands, feeling giddy. "I can't believe I did it. I actually did it! It looks amazing!" she said aloud to no one in particular. |

"You see, this is exactly what I mean about being careless, Miss Hyde!" It wasn't often that Isabelle snapped, but when the children were not taking any care with how they performed the magic, she couldn't help it. "I'm sorry, but you have done it on more than one occasion. Once I could see as an accident, more than that is pure carelessness. Five points from Hufflepuff." Waving her wand, the desk was back to normal. Bending down, Issy picked up the thimble from the floor and slammed it down on the desk. "Be. More. Careful. Please," she said, emphasising each word. It was almost as if the child was doing it on purpose. |
Zhenya looked as Professor Magnus snapped at Laura. She tried so hard not to let out a giggle, because Professor Magnus was obviously very frustrated; she didn't want to make it worse. It... wasn't funny! She said to Laura "Did you want some help? Well I haven't managed to turn it into a vase yet, but... the lip of the thimble sort of looks like a vase now. But it's still the same size," she said holding it up. |

Laura looked at the Professor and jumped as she slammed down the thimble on her desk, on that was in she was very angry now, it wasn't as if it was her fault that the floor was slippery was it, she hadn't actually fallen on purpose and there was no way she could stop the spell once she had started it. Laura looked at the Professor. "Professor I didn't do it on purpose you know, the floor was a bit slippery and I slipped." Laura was trying to be calm what was it her head of house had told her, oh yeah deep breaths. Laura did her deep breaths and then sat down, she was too scared to practice anymore incase the Professor took more points of her for no reason what so ever. |
Minerva looked over at Laura and Professor Magnus. She turned and pointed her wand at her thimble "Floreneo!" nothing happened. She needed to get the point loss that just happened out of her head. She took a deep breath and pointed her wand again "Floreneo!" this time her thimble turned into a nice purple vase. She smiled "Reverto" then she looked back to Laura. "Professor would you like me to help Laura?" |
Zhenya reached her hand over and patted Laura on the back. "'Sokay, you'll make the points back! Just practice again, you will get it Laura, I promise!" she said, smiling at her. Then she looked down at her own thimble and said "Floreneo," and her thimble enlarged. It still looked like a thimble, but it was vase shaped, and sized. |
Hmmmm Okay Oakey try pronouncing the spell first. Flori-nio, Flora-neo, Flore-neo Ah! that last one sounded about right! All right here I go He looked to Magnus and to Kurumi. Picking up his note paper he looked over what he drew to help him out. These look like swirls going upward He thought while deciphering his own poorly copied notes. Pointing his wand down at the small thimble he swirled his wand upwards and spoke Floreneo. The thimble grew bigger and took the shape of a vase...but that was about it. It still made of metal and had the texture of a thimble. Wh-what'd I do wrong?!? He picked up his notes again and eyed them intensely. He had done exactly as he sketched out. |
