When Kurumi's theory about the spell had been debunked, Kurumi simply nodded. Well, it HAD been Latin roots...so there was no wonder that the lioness had no clue. The part that got her was....flowers not being a part of the spell. That meant that the spell wasn't actually going to be used ON flowers, correct? A knot began to form in Kurumi's stomach as she gazed at the thimble in Professor Magnus' hands. It better not be...

"The spell itself is formed from two Latin words..." Picking up the chalk, Issy decided to write it on the board herself rather than use magic. "Flora, meaning flowers, or plants. And Teneo, meaning 'to hold'."

"To hold flowers. A vase. Any kind that your imagination can come up with. And the flowers themselves will be for later, so you can all have some fun arranging them. Now, before I show you the wand movements, could you all come up and collect a handful of thimbles - you'll need some more for homework, so feel free to store them in your bags." Kurumi's eyes sort of glazed over and the explanation about the actual meaning of the spell essentially went in one ear and out the other. Flower arranging...they were going to do flower arranging. Her heart sank in her chest and the magenta spot hidden by her ribbon grew just a bit wider. Her mother had taught her flower arranging, or ikebana, and now that she was trying to avoid things that reminded the prefect of her...it was a bloody class and homework assignment.

"Now you all have your thimbles, I'd like you to pay close attention to the wand movement I am about to show you." Rolling her sleeves up, Issy took her wand back out of it's holster and placed her thimble on the front of her desk so they could all see. Although it was more her wand they needed to be keeping an eye on. "You need to point your wand directly downwards, vertical, right near your object. Then do three clockwise circles, moving your wand further away, and upwards, from your thimble with each one, like so..."

Isabelle did just as she had told them, swirling her wand clockwise and inching it away with every circle, almost as if she was flourishing something from the end of it. "Floreneo!" Almost as if it was growing out of the thimble, a red vase spread upwards and stood, complete, when Issy finished moving her wand.

Beaming at them all, she pocketed her wand again and picked up the vase. It was made of rubber, but they didn't know that - so she bounced it on the ground to prove it had worked properly. It came rebounding back up towards her face, and she caught it just before it hit her nose. "There we go. Mine is rubberised, just to show you the sort of thing you can do. Now, those of you with questions, please ask - the rest of you can begin with practice."

Kurumi's eyes came back into focus when Professor Magnus demonstrated the wand movement and she looked down at her parchment to draw a simple diagram of the movement plus some notes that she had missed earlier and then set her quill down when they were asked if there were any more question.

It was then that she heard Oakey lean over and ask her a question. "Sure," she said with a force smile back at the Hufflepuff. She was getting pretty good at wearing a mask these days. Transfiguration was one of her better subjects, but with her own magic acting haywire these days...she was concerned that she wouldn't be the role model that he was hoping her to be. "Just as long as you don't mind me melting a thimble or two on my first try." Or third...of fourth...there was no telling how her spellwork was going to go today.

Lily watched as the professor showed the class the wand movements. That looks difficult... Lily thought once the professor had successfully made a vase. After writing down the movements, Lily decided she would practice each part separately and then try combining them. So she started muttering, "Flor-en-eo...Flor-eneo... Floreneo" That was good enough for Lily.

Next she decided to practice the movements. Pulling out her wand, she re-read her instructions on what to do. "Start with a downward facing wand... then make 3 clockwise circles, getting further away and higher as you go..." Lily muttered over and over as she practiced the movements. It wasn't as easy as she had hoped. After a bunch of attempts to practice the movements she decided it would be time to try out the spell.

Weasley174 02-15-2012 12:08 AM

Laura looked at the Professor, seriously why did she always want them to practice, well at least she couldn't turn the think back into a tree, well she hoped she couldn't though it probably would be fun if that happen, just thinking about it made Laura giggle, seriously though she was sure someone would be annoyed if that happened.

Laura decided that she was ready to practice and so she did the spell and then tried to remember what the sentance was, suddenly she thought the professor had said. "Ferula." Laura said, but nothing happened, what was she doing wrong, well anyway at least nothing major had happen which was a good thing.

Transfiguring metal finger hats. Easy enough, right? Selena allowed several of the thimbles to pop off of her finger as she wiggled them. She would have to transfigure them into vases after all. Selena watched the professor work her magic and almost cringed. Darnit. It didn't exactly seem easy. Sighing, she watched the vase bounce back up into the professor's hands and smirked. Selena wanted a vase like that. But not red. Because red wasn't as cool as GREEN. Heh, she totally got this...

First off... testing the sound of it. The spell looked funny after all. "Faaall- Florianaoooo, Floreneo." HAH. SHE HAD GOTTEN IT. Selena didn't like the way it sounded though. Pulling out her wand, she twirled it between her fingers, staring at the thimbles before her. So the movement was apparently three circles going counterclockwise while moving up and away. Psht. That didn't sound too hard.

Selena closed her eyes trying to picture her vase. GREEN. Lots of it. And pygmy puffs. Or maybe ballonos. No. Pygmy puffs. Selena liked pygmy puffs. Opening her eyes, Selena looked at the metal finger hat again. Yes, she was not going to call it a thimble. That was a stupid name for a metal hat. Selena pointed her wand at the metal finger hat and turned her wand counterclockwise, moving it up and away. Why was moving a wrist so much easier than... actually... saying the word? Floreneo. Did it really need so many syllables?

Floreneo. Definition? Annoying hard to say. She was pretty sure the word would make a good tongue twister. Maybe she ought to get someone to say it over and over again till their tongue actually twisted. "Floreneo. Floreneo. Floreneo. Floraablehhhhhhh."

Was there a shortcut for this word?

TakemetotheBurrow 02-15-2012 12:35 AM

When Ella had practiced saying the Floreneo correctly and the movement, she picked up her wand, ready to work. Ella pointed her wand at the thimble the way the Professor had told them to. She imagined a beautiful glass vase that was curvy and colorful and like nothing she'd ever seen before. She began turning her wand in the clockwise circle motion, inching it away with every new circle she created. "Floreneo!" she said, hoping the thimble would change. She looked down at her desk to see that the thimble had changed but not the way she had hoped. It now looked like a rainbow colored tiny glass bedpan. "Erm-that's not right..." Ella turned the thimble back to its original state and sighed, hoping the next try would be successful.

That was a good question.

"In theory yes. But it works best on anything that has the quality of a container - like the thimble, a cup, a bucket etcetera."

The kids were full of good questions today, she liked it.

"You're quite right, a charm could be used to make them like the buckets. But it is the more complex, and different, styles and materials I want you all to aim for today. No plain metal pots." Although if that's what they got on their first try, she wasn't going to scold them for it.

"You will indeed, and Professor Bentley has given us permission to use Greenhouse Three for that. But I'll explain when I post your homework later." Isabelle gave the girl a nod and smile, before walking round to the front of her desk.

Justin watched as the professor showed them the wand motions and was amazed when she dropped the vase she had just made. And to his relief it bounced back up into her hand. Wow, that was quite a feat.then Justin took a thimble and placed it in front of himself and held his wand vertically over his thimble and traced it clockwise thrice and said, " Floreneo" Nothing, so he tried it again, " Floreneo." and his his thimble resembled something close to a vase.

Sophie nodded and went back to her seat. She sat up straight to watch as Professor Magnus demonstrated what they were supposed to do. Vertical position, clockwise, three circles, move wand further away... that seemed easy enough! The red vase looked pretty cool and Sophie couldn't wait to make her own!

She was about to get her wand when Professor dropped the vase. Sophie's eyes widened as she waited for a big crash sound. Instead, the vase REBOUNDED BACK UP! "Wicked!!!" She exclaimed with a big smile on her face. Nice vase for clumsy people!

Rubber vase! Rubber vase! Would Sophie be able to transfigure her metal thimble into a BOUNCING RUBBER VAAAASE??? She really hoped so! Finally grabbing her wand, she pointed down at a thimble, in the vertical position Professor Magnus had just showed. Oh, wait. It would be best if she practiced the incantation first, no? Meh.

Sophie put down her wand and stared eagerly to one of the thimbles. Okay, just a couple of times then actual practice!! "Florr-" She was so focused on the thimbles she had totally forgotten the word. She glanced at the blackboard. "Oh, right. Floreneo! Floren- Floreneo. Floreeneoo! Floreneo." That was it, wasn't iiit?

ShadowButterfly 02-15-2012 01:10 AM

She began muttering the spell under her breath,"Floreneo. Floreneo. Floreneo. Floreneo."

WhittyBitty 02-15-2012 01:18 AM

Once Amelia had the incantation down she decided that it was a good time for her to start practicing the wand movement. Pulling out her wand, he recalled how Professor Magnus had created the vase. She'd try to do that in a bit but first she wanted to get the movement down as perfectly as possible.

She made sure to move the thimbles on her desk off to the side for the moment; she wasn't going to do the vase yet so there was no need for her to have any thimbles in the area. Pointing her wand vertically, she made the first clockwise movement, then the second, and then the third. She made sure to move upwards with each circular movement.

It seemed pretty easy to her and it was almost time for her to start trying to make a vase.

FireboltAvis88 02-15-2012 01:26 AM

Alyssa jotted down in her journal what the Professor told them about the spell and what they would be doing with it before watching closely as the Professor demonstrated the wand movements to change the thimbles into vases. Once the Professor gave them permission to practice the spell, she first practised the incantation, carefully pronouncing each syllable. "Floreneo.....Floreneo.....Floreneo....Floreneo"

Then she unholstered her wand and practised the wand movements. Pointing her wand downwards vertically, making sure that she started off near the thimble, she swirled her wand clockwise and as she made each circle, she made sure that she was circling out and away from the thimble.

She practiced the wand movements a few times before going back to pronouncing the incantation again. "Floreneo....Floreneo...Floreneo..."

So it was a thimble.

Gideon wrote it down within his notes aloneside the spell from earlier as he listened to the professor further explain what they would be doing for the class. Transfigurating something into a vase certainly made sense when involving flowers. When the breakdown of the spell was added to the board, the 5th year added it to his parchment wanting to be fully prepared for their task and anything later on they might need the information for...like homework. As instructed, once he finished the last of his notes for now, he got up from his seat to the box, grabbing a bunch of thimbles for himself before returning to his desk to await them moving on.

And move on they did, Professor Magnus grabbing their attention once more and speaking of the wand movement needed for the spell. Gideon watched with close and apt attention to make sure he could get it right and be able to mimic it. It was probably well that he was so focused seeing as it certainly seemed one of the more complicated spells at least movementwise. Point down at object---three clockwise circles gradually pulling upward.

Eventually the woman had a nice red vase. A nice...bouncy vase as she demonstrated as she threw it on the floor. That had been a surprise! One that was never to be expected. Gideon wrote down what they were taught, debating with himself if he had any questions but simply staying quiet for now.

WhittyBitty 02-15-2012 01:54 AM

Amelia thought that now she would start practicing the spell with BOTH the wand movement AND the incantation.

Pointing her wand directly downwards she made her counterclockwise movements while moving her wand away from the desk. "Floreneo."

He asked holding up his note pad to her. He set it back down and poorly recreated what Kurumi had put in hers.

Kurumi managed to giggle at Oakey's response. She liked this Hufflepuff and was glad that he hadn't been eaten a plant in his first year. Of course, Kurumi had only heard rumors about that, having not been there herself, but she was glad nonetheless. That Ravenclaw Quidditch captain had been a weird one anyway. "I am sure you will do just fine," she nodded. He would probably have to calm her down the way things were going. "You mean my notes?" she asked, pushing them a little closer to him to be able to see. "Of course not, go right ahead." Although, her notes were a little...incomplete at the moment. Her mind was rather distracted.

Glancing back at Professor Magnus now, Kurumi raised her hand. Best to try and ask questions that would prevent her from doing too much unnecessary melting, right? "Professor, it sounded like there was just a little bit of inflection at the end of the spell when you said it. Do we need to place emphasis on any part of the spell, or it it more monotone?"

Bazinga 02-15-2012 02:20 AM

Minerva put her hand up. "Professor, so if we think of the design of the vase we want that is what will come of the thimble, kind of the like the frames?" she wasn't sure why she was still amazed at all the things she could do with magic, but it still amazed her. She looked at the thimble and couldn't wait to make it into something nice and purple. She started practicing saying the word "Floreneo, Floreneo" she then decided to pull out her wand and practice the movement without saying anything.

WhittyBitty 02-15-2012 02:26 AM

Amelia had an idea what she wanted to try out. She wondered if she drew a picture of the vase she wanted and looked at it while doing the incantation, keeping it in her mind... if it would work when it came to doing the spell.

She took out a piece of paper and a pencil from her bag and started to sketch it.

Annabelle put the thimble down on her desk. She had a memory of what the wand movements the teacher did. She hoped she wouldn't mess it up. "Alright downwards, vertical right near the object." she told herself as she wrote it on her notebook. She mimicked it. "Then three clockwise circles moving far away and upwards each time." she told herself. Then she did the movements once and it failed..."Hmmm what did i do wrong?" she wondered. Maybe she didn't concetrate more. "Professor could you help me do the clockwise cirlces? I am kind of confused on it?"

SilverDragon 02-15-2012 04:24 AM

Silvia repeated the incantation several times to herself. "Floreneo...Floreneo..." After reciting it for a minute or two, she pulled out her wand. Holding it vertically above one of the thimbles, she practiced the clockwise circles. What seemed like a simple task turned out to not be as easy as she thought. The angle required of the wand when making the circling motion was not the most comfortable and tired her wrist quickly. She would have to build up more endurance in her arms. For now she ignored the tired wrist and kept practicing.

Alyssa decided to practice the wand movement for the spell Floreneo. Pointing vertically downwards near the thimble, she swished her wand clockwise three times, making sure that with every circle her wand moved outward and upward away from the thimble.

Once she was sure of the wand movements, she decided to concentrate on what she wanted her vase to look like. She pictured in her mind the various shapes she wanted them to look, and decided that once the Professor had given instructions for them to actually cast the spell, that she would try out transfiguring some of the thimbles she had into some of the designs she had pictured in her mind.

"I would say two should be enough, because we won't be putting any water in them until you're all sure you like your designs. And before that you can revert them back to keep trying," Isabelle grinned, eyeing the handful the girl had.

OOC: I'm off to bed now. Isabelle will still be there, but I'll reply to questions tomorrow. You may chat with each other about the task, but nothing else please. Have fun!

Vickers noted down the incantation with the proper wand movement onto his parchment. Just as he glanced up he thought the Professor dropped her newly transfigured vase! Gasping, he nearly lunged forward to catch it-- just to see it bounce from the floor and back to the Professor's hands.

"Its made out of rubber"

Then they were told to try the spell themselves. Nodding eagerly he practiced the wand movement over a vacant part of his desk whispering the incantation and performing the wand stroke alternately. When he could feel he's gotten the hang of it, the Ravenclaw reached out for a thimble and set it at the center of his desk. Wand pointed down, he paused for a moment before starting to turn his wrist around clockwise thrice "Floreneo" he uttered as he drew his wand hand upward. Almost immediately the thimble transformed into a simple glass vase.

"Alright!" the boy whispered exuberantly to himself, having gotten it right on the first attempt....

... but as he stared he could see various imperfections in the glass. He reached out, thinking of turning the vase around gently with its brim when---

Listening as Professor Magnus answered the other questions that had been posed, Stella found herself going back to the idle ring-spinning. Until her own question was addressed, and she nodded. As long as they had Professor Bentley on their side, they wouldn't have to forage for flowers. At least, as long as they respected the rules of the greenhouse. But either way, apparently Professor Magnus wanted to focus on the spell for the lesson, and the flower discussion would happen later.

The demonstration didn't go unnoticed by Stella, either, as she paid close attention to the wand movement as well as the pronunciation of the spell itself. She kept thinking of it all as either a spiral or concentric circles, and the vase that sprouted from the professor's thimble got the slightest of intrigued smiles. She thought it was rather simple, really, although she flinched as the vase then got dropped. A rubberized vase could actually be useful, aslong as the water and flowers didn't spill out if it got dropped. But then, right now it was just an empty vase, and they'd been instructed to practice.

She didn't want to go straight into actually trying the spell, even if she thought she'd be able to manage it. Visualization was always key, so she ignored the thimbles still scattered over her desk as she flicked her wand out of its holster. Practice, then actually trying the spell out for real. Floreneo. Flo-ren-e-o. Floreneo, she repeated silently, before saying the incantation aloud a few times. Minus the wand movement, even if she thought it wouldn't do much to her desk by itself. "Floreneo. Floreneo. Floreneo," she said, glancing over as Kurumi asked about inflections. That was another thing that could be important, and just meant that they should hold back that much longer. She could practice the wand movement, at least, so she chose a blank spot on her desk. Pretending a thimble was there, she pointed her wand downward and swirled it in a tight clockwise circle, widening it slightly as the first finished and continuing until she'd circled the imaginary thimble three times.

Only to jump a little as she heard something shatter nearby, and she glanced over to see Vickers with a pile of broken glass. At least it wasn't an explosion.

"It is a thimble, correct. But we won't be turning the flowers into anything," Issy grinned at the Hufflepuff.

"A cup is very close actually. Something similar."

"It certainly does, but the origins of the spell lay in Latin, as is usual. And we won't be using the flowers yet, as I just said." Smiling at the Prefect, Issy moved on to the next answer.

Issy's eyed strayed onto one of the Slytherin prefects when she spoke. And then widened when her words sunk in.

Something other than snot?

What on earth was this child feeding her pets? It was --- "Umm, not quite, no. But thank you for the...input, Selena."

There certainly were some interesting answers coming forth today. Mini microphone top. Well it was knobbly, so she could see that. "I suppose it does look a bit like that, but a thimble it is."

Now that was a good idea for a game. Unfortunately, it had nothing to do with spell work, so wasn't what they were going to be doing. Isabelle smiled at the suggestion though. "As fun as that sounds, we won't be doing that I'm afraid. And the thimble is going to be something FOR the flowers."

"Good guess, both of you, but no."

They all seemed to be distracted by the idea of the flowers. Maybe she should have hidden them until the time to use them. "Not turning anything into flowers today."

"You're right on the first part of the word, but the flowers are not actually part of the spell. Good guess though."

"In Spanish neo might mean new, but not in this case," Issy winked.

A wastebasket? "Well yes, I guess it does really," Isabelle said. "And you are quite close with that idea..."

Ohhh, ding! ding! They had a winner.

Isabelle beamed as she looked at the child. "You are exactly right! Well done!"

Flipping the thimble over in her hand, Isabelle turned her grin to the rest of the class. "Those of you who said this is a thimble are quite correct. But we won't be using it for sewing today - we'll be transfiguring vases for these flowers to go in later on," she gestured to coloured blooms in the buckets.

Now, before I show you the wand movements, could you all come up and collect a handful of thimbles - you'll need some more for homework, so feel free to store them in your bags." Isabelle used her foot to shift the box to the front of the room. It was a little heavy, as there were hundreds of the things in there.

Harvey listened as the professor explained what the thimble was for.. and he was surprised that they were going to turn that little itty bitty thing into a vase?! well that was cool! He then heard the professor say that they were to go and collect a handful of those itty bitty thimbles.. so thats what he did.. he went and collected a handful and put half into his bag and the rest onto his desk..

Harvey watched carefully not wanting to get it wrong.. he saw the wand movement that she did as well as the incantation that she said.. he then watched as she bounced her vase to prove it was rubber.. and since he had no questions he went on with practice.. he first decided to practice incantation.. "Floreneo...Floreneo...Floreneo...Floreneo...Floren eo..Floreneo...Floreneo...Floreneo...Floreneo" he chanted as he was supposed... he then took out his wand and practiced the circular wand movement that the professor had done.. he kep on practicing and practicing.

Messer jotted down some notes onto his notebook after Professor Magnus explained to them about the spell and what the thimble was for. Errr..Did she say that they're gonna try and transfigure that thimble into a vase?! Well, in that case he need a lot of thimble because he might melt down some of them. Messer went to the box in front of the classroom and collected a handful of thimble before he went back to his table. He put some of the thimble in his backpack like the Professor said.

The young badger's eyes went back to Professor Magnus when she demonstrated to the class how to do the spell. He tried to remember all the movement she did, so he won't get anything wrong when he tries the spell. When she gave them a green light to practice, Messer decided to practice the pronunciation first. "Flooorrrrr-eeeeee-NOH..fLooor-EEEE-NOOOOOO..FlooOOOo-eeee-new.." No that was just wrong. What was it again? "Flooorrr--EH-neo..Floreneo." That was it, wasn't it?

After getting her thimbles from the front of the classroom, Alex listened to the Professor's instructions. Once the Professor was finished, Alex got to work on practicing the spell. First, she repeated "Floreneo" to herself several times. Then she silently practiced the circular wand movement. "OK, time to put it all together", Alex said.

Laura suddenly realised where she was going wrong the spell was the wrong one and hopefully she wouldn't get into trouble for saying it. "Floreneo, Floreneo, Floreneo, Floreneo." Laura said as she shook her wand, she then was shocked to see that instead of a vase appearing, the desk had disappeared and the floor where the desk was had turned into flowers, seriously had Laura missed the thimble by a bit and hit the desk, this was weird. "PROFESSOR HELP!!!!!!!!" Laura was freaking out, what had she done wrong.

OOC: Sorry for any confusion. My OOC comment last night was in reference to off topic chatter, and not to do that. It didn't mean you couldn't go ahead and start practice - YOU CAN. Please do, if that's what any of you were waiting for. :)

So there were a couple of questions, although it seemed most were okay to start on their own. But, Kurumi first...

"In this instance the wand movement is more important that any emphasis on the word. There is a tiny inflection on the O at the end, but the spell won't go horribly wrong if you don't do that. Just make sure the movement is correct, and you should be fine."

She looked at the thimble and couldn't wait to make it into something nice and purple. She started practicing saying the word "Floreneo, Floreneo" she then decided to pull out her wand and practice the movement without saying anything.

Walking from the prefect over to the Hufflepuff, Isabelle smiled at her question. "Yes, exactly. The intent you put behind the spell, and the end result you imagine, is what should happen. If you're clear enough."

Maybe she didn't concetrate more. "Professor could you help me do the clockwise cirlces? I am kind of confused on it?"

Oh, not a question, but some help was needed. Folding her sleeves back again, so they didn't get caught, Isabelle wandered over to the girl. "Of course I can help, which bit are you confused on? Here, give me your hand and I'll show you how it's done."

Isabelle took hold of the girls wand hand very gently, and pointed her wand downwards, directly towards the desk. "Now what you do is go clockwise three times slowly, as you say the spell. And with each circle you make, move you wand upwards and away from the thimble, like so." Slowly she moved her hand round in one circle, then pulled it up a little as she made the next circle. Then the same again as the did the last circle. "See? It's not as hard as it could look on first viewing. Go ahead and try it a few times before putting it together with the incantation if you're not sure."

Okay, that wasn't a very good sound.

Having shown the young one how to do the wand movement again, Isabelle was just about to go on a walkabout when the sound of breaking glass made her spin on the spot. She blinked a few times at the mess on the boy's desk, before looking him directly in the eyes. "Having problems Mister Vanderbilt?" That wasn't an amused smirk. No. And at least he had managed to make something, however fragile it turned out to be. "You can vanish that and try again. We've got plenty of thimbles."

But THAT was not something she expected to happen. What kind of magic did this Hufflepuff possess that made every spell she tried do something it wasn't supposed to?

At the shout for help, Isabelle rushed over and flourished her wand at the mess. Everything sprung back to how it was supposed to be - desk included. "Miss Hyde! Please try and be more careful! Honestly, I've never known anyone able to make spells do something they aren't designed to - aside from the odd melting," *coughKurumicough* "Pay close attention to the incantation, and please just say it the once when performing the spell and wand movement together. I don't want to be too hard on you because you're a first year, but I really am at a loss as to how you do it." The only explanation was the wrong spell being said. Surely that had to be it. It wasn't possible to change the floor and desk into flowers otherwise.

"Any more lack of concentration and care and I shall be forced to take points from you. Somebody could get hurt." Carelessness causes injury.

Taylor practiced the wand movement and then the spell, "Floreneo, Floreno Floreneo." After she felt comfortable with the wand movement and the spell, she put her thimble on the desk and held her wand vertical. "Floreneo." She said as she moved her wand in three clockwise circles, moving the wand upwards and increasing the size of the circle with each round. Tay invision a beautiful glass vase with a rose pattern on it but what she got was just a cloudy glass vase. Taylor tilted her head and smiled. She was happy that it wasn't that bad.

DuckyLinJi 02-15-2012 03:54 PM

Daichi looked at the thimble in front of him before looking up to watch how the new spell was performed. He bit his lip in concentration as he looked at after the Professor was done demonstrating he picked up the thimble and placed it closer to him on the desk. His eyes were suddenly drawn back to the Professor has she picked up her vase and...was she going to drop it?! The Slytherin jumped out of his seat and hid under the table, only his hair was sticking out from the surface. He was sure it was going to shatter and hurt them all! But....then it bounced and slowly Daichi got up from under the desk with an embarrassing blush on his cheeks while pretending he had dropped something earlier....

Letting his Phoenix feather wand fall out of his wrist holster, Daichi held it in his hand and stood up. Allowing himself better access to perform the spell. He pointed his wand downwards and took a breath for a second. Lafay had told him last year he needed to concentrate when performing magic. It was the key thing he lacked and it was one of the reasons why he failed many times. But this time , he was determined to succeed in one go!

Still holding the wand downwards, he circled his wand three times clockwise like intructed and said "Floreneo!" and inched his wand away with every circle. Slowly...slower than how he had seen the thimble of the Professor change, his one did too.

Daichi's mouth fell open as he stared at the piece of glass on the thimble. The thimble was still very visible, but Daichi only had his eyes turned on the bottom of the thimble where the glass of a vase was clearly visible.

"Professor! look! i made a ThimbAse!" he said and pointed to the his half thimble half vase with pride. Hey, he was doing better than ever! Normally he would fail at the first attempt..second too..three years later as well so this was BIG!

Tayla took some thimbles for herself, setting one aside to use for class and keeping the rest in a pocket inside her bag. She took notes as the professor gave her lecture.

SPOILER!!: Tayla's Transfiguration Notes

FLORENEO
- incantation to be used to turn something (a thimble) into a flower vase
- from two Latin words: Flora 'flowers, plants'; Teneo 'to hold'
- wand movement: point wand directly downwards, vertical, right near the object to be transfigured; three clockwise circles, moving wand further away, and upwards

Imagination!!!

Tayla made an extra note ("Imagination!!!") to herself in her notebook. Professor Magnus used it well to transfigure objects so nicely. She hoped she could do the same.

"I want my vase made of clay," Tayla decided.

"Floreneo...Floreneo...Floreneo," she said repeatedly without the wand movement. Then she practiced the wand movement without the words. That was a little trickier. "Point directly downwards...vertical, near object...three clockwise circles, moving farther away and upwards..." she said as she did the wand movement step by step. Tayla repeated the movements until she got more used to them.

"Okay!" she said finally, taking her shiny metal thimble and setting it at the center of her desk. She pointed her wand as the professor did and braced herself. "One, two, three...Floreneo!" She moved her wand in three clockwise circles going farther from the object and upwards.

"Cool," Tayla smiled as she saw the thimble changing. But she frowned a little when she realized it wasn't a clay vase at all. "Metal..." she sighed. "It doesn't look so bad to be honest," she thought to herself. "But it's not a clay flower vase." It looked like her shiny metal thimble just became longer and more slender.

Instead of turning the metal vase back into a thimble, Tayla set it on one side of her table and decided to use another thimble.

A question suddenly popped into her head. She looked around for the professor, and spotting her, raised her hand. "Professor Magnus, would the incantation be different if we'd want to turn an object into a flower pot instead of a flower vase? Or would we only need to imagine it differently?" Both the pot and the vase could, after all, be used 'to hold flowers' as the incantation literally meant.

Alyssa decided that she was now read to try transfiguring one of the thimbles into a vase. She placed aside two thimbles as the Professor had suggested before picking up another one and placed it in front of her. Taking out her wand, she pointed it vertically downwards as near to the thimble as possible. Then she swished her wand in clockwise movements and as she swirled, she made sure that her wand movements moved upwards and away from the thimble. As she swirled her wand she conjured up the first image of what she wanted her vase to look like in her mind, and concentrated on it and the spell.

Counting off the circles as she swished around in clockwise circles with her wand, the moment Alyssa completed her third and final circle, Alyssa said "FLORENEO". A beam of light appeared from her wand and enveloped the thimble. As the light disappeared over the thimble, in it's place stood a tall glassy looking vase.

Alyssa smiled. This was exactly what she had wanted her vase to look like. Simple but classy. Alyssa figured that as she practiced, that she would get more creative with her designs. But for now, she was just happy that her spell had worked.

ShadowButterfly 02-15-2012 06:06 PM

She put a thimble in front of her and the others to the sire. She did the wand movements and said,"Floreneo." She saw it didn't like quite like she imaganged it so she tried again,"Reverto."

Laura stared at the Professor, seriously had the Professor just said next time she would take points, that wasn't fair, it was an accident and well Laura couldn't help it, this Professor was mean saying she would take points of next time, but well Laura wouldn't let that happen.

Laura took up her wand and did the wand movement and said. "Floreneo." But as she said it she knocked the table and the thimble went off onto the floor and Laura couldn't stop the spell, where the table had been was now a vase. "I'm sorry Professor." Laura sighed, seriously it was an accident, hopefully the Professor would know that, well at least the spell worked.

Hey Ju 02-15-2012 06:38 PM

OKAY! Sophie felt ready now! Boucing vase! Boucing vase! She couldn't wait to have one of those! "Floreneo!" She exclaimed one last time. Yep, she was ready!

Grabbing her wand, she stood up in front of her desk to make it easier to point it down vertically. Professor Magnus wouldn't mind, right? A lot of students were still walking around getting thimbles and this kind of stuff. Right!

She had a big smile on her face and almost couldn't keep herself together. She reeeeeally wanted her vase to be all rubbery and bouncy!! Finally pointing her wand down at the thimble, she stared at the metal object for a fraction of seconds with wide eyes. Clockwise. Clockwise. OH, RIGHT! She shook her head and made the circular motion clockwise. She did it three times while moving her wand upwards. "Floreneo!"

The thimble seemed to be pulled up with the wand. But it was just Sophie's impression. What had really happened was that the tiny object grew longer as her wand went upwards. It was now a long, slim and crooked metal... thing.

??????

Sophie put down her wand and stared at it. That was definitely not a bouncy rubber vase. She had been so excited that her spell lacked concentration.

Sophie thought for a few moments. Would 'Reverto' work here? She pointed her wand at the metal... thing. "Reverto!" The metal object shrinked and was now a thimble again.

FireboltAvis88 02-15-2012 06:49 PM

Alyssa decided to keep the vase she had created and pulled another thimble over to practice the spell again. She first practiced the incantation just to make sure that she remembered it. "FLORENEO...FLORENEO...FLORENEO". Then she practiced the wand movements to the spell. Pointing her wand vertically downwards as close to the thimble that she could, she swished her wand in a circular spiral clockwise movement moving upwards and outwards away from the thimble, with every circular movement she made, counting off the circles. One....Two...Three...

Now she was ready to transfigure another thimble. She pictured another image of the shape she wanted the vase to transfigure into. Concentrating hard on the image and the spell, Alyssa performed the wand movements and when she swished her wand to complete the last circle, Alyssa said,"FLORENEO"

A beam of light shot out and surrounded the thimble. When it disappeared, in the place of the thimble, stood another colorful glass vase. Alyssa punched the air in triumph glad that she hadn't messed up the spell yet.

george is cool 02-15-2012 07:56 PM

Lilly stared at the thimbles in front of her, motionless. Oh yeah, they were meant to practice. "Floreneo!" she said firmly, pointing her wand at the thimble in front of her and doing the movements witha small flick. But she didn't do it well enough, because the thimble turned a pale blue, then back to a thimble.

Maybe Lilly needed to picture the vase. Yes, that was it. She decided on a plain glass vase (she didn't want to make it too hard) carved with a few patterns, nothing too fancy. "Floreneo!" she said, concentrating hard on what was in front of her. A beam of light shot out from her wand after she finished the movements (point wand directly downwards, vertical, right near the object to be transfigured; three clockwise circles, moving wand further away, and upwards). Yup, that seemed to have worked.

In front of the lioness, on the desk, standing there was a vase, not exactly as Lilly had pictured, but close enough anyway. She beamed, quite proud of what she'd produced. "Reverto!" Lilly said, as the vase shrunk and turned back into a thimble.

"Any more lack of concentration and care and I shall be forced to take points from you. Somebody could get hurt." Carelessness causes injury.

After the professor helped her, it didn't seem complicated anymore. As she practiced the spell some more, she got the idea of it! When she just practiced the wand movements. Then she tried the incantation the first time. It didn't work at first. Then a second time, she was almost there. Then the third time, it worked! She did it three clockwise spins and each one she moved farther and upward. She said "Floreneo!" Then a red vase with a little style appeared. "Yay Professor i did it!" Annabelle smiled happily!

WhittyBitty 02-15-2012 08:30 PM

Once Amelia was done with her sketch, she looked it over carefully. It was a skinny vase that moved outwards a little as it reached the rim. It was to be clear glass, and she had drawn pretty flowers on it. She proceeded to now colour the flowers in; some were yellow and some were purple.

Standing up again, she now picked up a thimble and placed it at the front of the desk so that she was right before it. She then picked up her wand again and pointed it directly downwards near her thimble. She looked over to the drawing as she started moving the wand in the clockwise motion while moving it away from the desk. "Floreneo!"

She had a vase that looked almost exactly like the drawing she had made. The shade of purple was just off a bit.

2111jen 02-15-2012 09:20 PM

Sighing probebly from a bad thought that might happen, she put her thimble on her desk and pointed her wand downward at it. She moved her wand 3 times in 3 clockwise circles (small) and moved her wand upward a little bit with each one.
Jen thought a minute as she tried to figure out what the professor had said, she couldn't understand her a bit.
"Flereneo!"

Daydreamer11 02-15-2012 09:26 PM

Alex positioned her thimble on the desk and readied her wand. She concentrated and visualized the vase she wanted to create. It was a glass vase with pink and green swirls. She began to move her wand in a circular motion and said, "Floreneo". Well, the vase was glass and the swirls were there. Unfortunately, the shape was a little bit off. "I guess that's not horrible for my first try, Alex said. "I'll have to practice a few more times".

Zhenya put a thimble in front of her work space. She looked over at Laura who was having a stern word said to her, and smiled. "Hey Laura, what kind of vase are you making?"

She pulled her wand out and pointed it at the thimble just like Professor Magnus did. Then she said "Floreneo," and did three circles in the air, moving them upward as she continued. Nothing happened though, but the lip of the thimble spread out a bit. Well... it looked like a mini thimble vase. Maybe she could put grass in it?

Once Lily was ready to attempt the spell, she pulled out a thimble and placed it on her desk. Focus... that was what she needed to do this spell, and hopefully with a better end than some people in the class that ended up with a lap full of glass... Lily closed her eyes, trying to picture what she wanted her vase to look like... maybe colorful with animals or something. After opening her eyes, Lily started the wand movements. "Floreneo..." Lily said as she finished with the movements and her vase appeared, all colorful but still full of holes... "Well, that's not right.." Lily said as she looked at her vase. "Reverto." She muttered turning her vase back into a thimble. Sighing Lily muttered to herself, "I guess I'm going to need to try again." Maybe next time she would have better luck.

Since Ella's first attempt at a vase turned into something more resembling a doll toy she figured she would try again. She pointed her wand back at the thimble and concentrated on what she wanted to create-a colorful vase that was made of glass and quite curvy in build. If it came out correctly, maybe she could even give it to her mom for a nice gift. She brought herself back to the task at hand and once again began turning her wand in the clockwise circle motion, inching it away with every new circle she created. "Floreneo!" She looked down to see the thimble transformed into a beautiful Vase! She smiled wide and clapped her hands, feeling giddy. "I can't believe I did it. I actually did it! It looks amazing!" she said aloud to no one in particular.

"I slipped as I was saying the spell and the next thing I knew was that the table was a vase." Laura picked up her thimble and looked at it, this was the cause of all this trouble. "What about you?"

A thimbase was a new word, but that more or less perfectly described what Daichi had made. And it was pretty good. Isabelle smiled over at him from her position next to Laura (yes, she hadn't moved yet) - "That's a good start, Daichi. Interesting design."

Good job she had a strong voice as the next question came from the other side of the room. Listening intently, she nodded, ready to respond. "There is another spell that would do that, it has a slightly different meaning to it. Can't remember what it is off the top of my head. Though, there is no reason why you couldn't try and make the vase shorter and more squat, if you wanted."

Waving her wand, the desk was back to normal. Bending down, Issy picked up the thimble from the floor and slammed it down on the desk. "Be. More. Careful. Please," she said, emphasising each word. It was almost as if the child was doing it on purpose.

Zhenya looked as Professor Magnus snapped at Laura. She tried so hard not to let out a giggle, because Professor Magnus was obviously very frustrated; she didn't want to make it worse. It... wasn't funny!

She said to Laura "Did you want some help? Well I haven't managed to turn it into a vase yet, but... the lip of the thimble sort of looks like a vase now. But it's still the same size," she said holding it up.

Laura was not happy at all, the Professor was just being mean, this Professor had just gone from being one of her favorates to being one on her list of Professor she hated, she was going second just behind the evil nurse.

Laura looked at the Professor and jumped as she slammed down the thimble on her desk, on that was in she was very angry now, it wasn't as if it was her fault that the floor was slippery was it, she hadn't actually fallen on purpose and there was no way she could stop the spell once she had started it.

Laura looked at the Professor. "Professor I didn't do it on purpose you know, the floor was a bit slippery and I slipped." Laura was trying to be calm what was it her head of house had told her, oh yeah deep breaths.

Laura did her deep breaths and then sat down, she was too scared to practice anymore incase the Professor took more points of her for no reason what so ever.

Minerva looked over at Laura and Professor Magnus. She turned and pointed her wand at her thimble "Floreneo!" nothing happened. She needed to get the point loss that just happened out of her head. She took a deep breath and pointed her wand again "Floreneo!" this time her thimble turned into a nice purple vase. She smiled "Reverto" then she looked back to Laura. "Professor would you like me to help Laura?"

Jessiqua 02-16-2012 12:13 AM

Zhenya reached her hand over and patted Laura on the back. "'Sokay, you'll make the points back! Just practice again, you will get it Laura, I promise!" she said, smiling at her.

Then she looked down at her own thimble and said "Floreneo," and her thimble enlarged. It still looked like a thimble, but it was vase shaped, and sized.

Uncle Moose 02-16-2012 12:14 AM

Hmmmm Okay Oakey try pronouncing the spell first. Flori-nio, Flora-neo, Flore-neo Ah! that last one sounded about right! All right here I go He looked to Magnus and to Kurumi. Picking up his note paper he looked over what he drew to help him out. These look like swirls going upward He thought while deciphering his own poorly copied notes. Pointing his wand down at the small thimble he swirled his wand upwards and spoke Floreneo. The thimble grew bigger and took the shape of a vase...but that was about it. It still made of metal and had the texture of a thimble. Wh-what'd I do wrong?!? He picked up his notes again and eyed them intensely. He had done exactly as he sketched out.

MudInMyBlood 02-16-2012 12:35 AM

Ready to start practicing Hannah placed one of her thimbles in front of her she grabbed her wand and concentrated on everything the professor had said to do earlier. She thought about what she wanted her vase to look like. She felt like she was ready so with three clockwise circles that inched a bit away with each circle she said "Floreneo." She looked at the thimble disgustedly...why didn't it work? Maybe she was thinking too much of how she wanted her vase to turn out instead of concentrating on the spell itself.

She took a deep breath and again imagined what she wanted the vase to look like. This time she really concentrated on the spellwork. She again made three clockwise circles and inched them away from the starting point a little at a time. "Floreneo." This time she had managed to get it right. A beautiful purple vase appeared before her eyes. I did it she thought! On the second try no less!

WhittyBitty 02-16-2012 01:09 AM

Amelia was determined to give this spell another go now and see if she could get the vase to look exactly like the one she had drawn.

She moved her vase off to the side and grabbed another thimble, placing it in front of her. Concentrate, Amelia. See it in your mind as well as on the paper Looking at her drawing, she then pointed her wand downwards and repeated the clockwise movement while moving it away from the desk. "Floreneo."

This time, her vase looked absolutely perfect. She was proud of herself. "I did it!" hehe To no one in particular.

ShadowButterfly 02-16-2012 01:16 AM

She pointed at her thimble again said the spell with the wand movements,"Floreneo." She saw it looked really ugly again. She picked another thimble and tried again.

SilverTiger 02-16-2012 01:16 AM

Now that she knew that there didn't need to be a specific inflection or anything to the incantation, as Professor Magnus had basically said that in her response to Kurumi, Stella felt a bit more positive about trying out the spell herself. Of course, by waiting she'd also found out it was possible to use the spell on more than just thimbles, but she wasn't planning on making any desk vases any time soon. Besides, that was what visualization was for. And in that respect, it was time to actually do more than just think about the spell components and perfect each of them on their own. It was time to actually try to change a thimble into a vase herself, and hopefully not break it.

Setting one thimble on the desk directly in front of herself, she moved the rest to one side so they didn't get in the way. She didn't want to waste any of them, after all, or end up with some mutant multi-thimble vase. She wanted something elegant, and as she set herself to cast, she thought about a simple, slender vase. "Floreneo," she cast, slowly circling her wand over the thimble as had been demonstrated multiple times, focusing on the picture in her head. She wanted the spell to work, and as she lowered her wand, a slow smile crept onto her face as the vase she had pictured blossomed out of the tiny thimble. It wasn't necessarily as pretty as some of the others that had been created, but she liked it. She could always try more complex vases later on.

Nodding at Professor Magnus went into further explanation about the way the spell worked, Kurumi made a little on her parchment about the wand movement being more important than the incantation for this spell. It made Kurumi wonder about other spells, and just what property it was behind the spell that made one more important than the other. Was in the the nature of the spell? For example, a charm versus a transfiguration spell? Or the complexity of the wand movement? For example, a wand movement that merely required a point when casting a spell implied that special caution should be taken with the incantation? It certainly gave the Gryffindor more to think about.

"Thank you, professor," Kurumi nodded. Focus on the wand movement. She could do that, hopefully.

Feeling confident now that she could attempt the spell, Kurumi removed her wand and held it downwards. Three clockwise circles later, Kurumi's wand was further away from where she had started, meaning it was higher up from the table. That should do it, right?

"S-Sorry, Oakey," she said with a small smile. "I didn't see what you did. Did you perform three clockwise circles? It might just be a concentration issue. We can't all get our spells right on the first try."

In fact, Kurumi hadn't even attempted hers yet. Grabbing a handful of thimbles, Kurumi set them in a neat row on her desk and repeated the wand movement. Making tight clockwise circles. Kurumi moved her wand in the same manner as Professor Magnus had. "Floreno," she whispered and...erm...that wasn't supposed to happen. Her thimble was now a metal puddle on the table. "See?" she laughed.

Floooooreeeeeneeeeeeeeeeooooooo.

Selena stared at the metal finger caps on her desk. "Alright little hats, time to turn into vases," Selena chirped, beaming at them before looking around. She twirled her wand between her fingers as she did so. Spotting the Gryffindor Cookie Prefect's melted puddle of something Selena was struck with a thought. "Your thing looks like snot. Would a pygmy puff eat it?" Selena asked with a smile on her face. Because a pygmy puff miiiight. It did look like snot after all. Right. Pygmy puffs and snot. What should Selena's vase look like?

Squeezing her eyes shut, Selena thought hard about what she wanted it to look like. GREEN. A lot of GREEN. And maybe... Slytherin-y? Yup. She opened her eyes and looked at the metal finger cap. Selena performed the wand movement, three turns clockwise going up up and away, and said clearly, "Floreneo."

Selena looked at the vase-- if you could call it a vase, that is. There was a green thingy that somewhat resembled a pygmy puff... except for the hole at the top, which she supposed was where she was supposed to put the flowers. Well... she had made a vase, so that was good enough, right? Selena took her wand and poked it. Ehhhh? It was... gooey? "EEEEWWWWWWWWWH. SNOT VASE."

Kent would love that. What was Selena going to do with a vase made of SNOT?!?!?

Hey Ju 02-16-2012 01:35 AM

Sophie was now staring at Professor Magnus rubber vase. She wanted hers to look exactly like that one! Especially the bouncy part.

Okay. Focus. FOCUS!

Sophie looked down at her thimble and pictured the vase in her head. Rubber! Getting up and grabbing her wand once again, she pointed it down at the thimble. Concentrating even more, she made the three circles clockwise and moved her wand upwards. "Floreneo!" She watched as the thimble transfigured into a rubber vase that actually looked like it was made of clay! In a way.

Oh! OOOHHH!!! Sophie quickly put her wand on the desk and dropped the vase on the floor.

Boing.

A big smile spread on Sophie's face as she held her bouncy vase when it came back up. "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!" She herself bounced up and down, holding her vase up like a trophy. Oops... she was in class... "Sorry, Professor!" She quicky said before sitting down and placing her cool vase on the desk in front of her.

It was perfect that it looked like clay. Any of the flowers would look lovely in it! Sophie sat there, admiring and poking her bouncy rubber vase.

Now, before I show you the wand movements, could you all come up and collect a handful of thimbles - you'll need some more for homework, so feel free to store them in your bags." Isabelle used her foot to shift the box to the front of the room. It was a little heavy, as there were hundreds of the things in there.

Vlimia took notes on the spell meaning and incantaion, and then walked up to the box of thimbles. They really were quite shiny, all together in a box. She grabbed a handful of them before they blinded her, and stashed a few in her bag when she got back to her seat. Vlim stuck a thimble on her thumb, and tapped it against her desk softly. After tapping out her favourite song from an old band, The Weird Sisters, she took the thimble off.

OOC: I'm off to bed now. Isabelle will still be there, but I'll reply to questions tomorrow. You may chat with each other about the task, but nothing else please. Have fun!

Vlima listened intently and wrote down the wand movement carefully as the proffesor said it.
SPOILER!!: Her Notes
Point wand directly downwards, vertical, right near object. Then do three clockwise circles, moving your wand further away, and upwards, from your thimble with each one.

Vlim practised the movements without pointing at anything for a while, just to get the hang of it. When she was pretty confident, Vlimia did the complex wand movement. "Floreneo!" She said, watching her thimble transform into quite an odd vase. It kind of looked like a rainbow heart... but darker than an ordinary rainbow. She hadn't even been aiming for a certain vase, and her subconscious mind gave her this? When she looked at it more closely, Vlimia actually found that she liked it quite a bit. She was very proud of the vase she had made.

Thimble now in her possession, Sierra glanced up toward the professor and watched the demonstration. She regarded the professor's transfiguration with an eyebrow raise then turned away to begin practicing. She placed her thimble on the desk in front of her then got a good grip on her wand. She pointed her wand just as she'd been shown--downwards, vertical, and right near the thimble.

After moving her wand in three clockwise circles that drew her wand further away and upward, she cast. "Flor..." Pause. "Flor..." Dear Merlin! What was the incantation again? Sierra lowered her wand then peered slowly around the classroom. Maybe she could pick up on the incantation from someone else's casting. No way would she ask another student for help...

Violet had 3 thimbles in her hand as she made her way back to her seat. She placed one of them on the table and put the rest of them in her pocket. As she watched the professor do the wand movement, Violet followed her movements very slowly with her wand. It was a very complicated task for her and it made her head hurt from concentrating so hard. The professor sent them off to work and Violet kept practicing the wand movement slowly until she was confident that she got it right.

Violet turned towards her thimble and doing exactly what she had been practicing, she pointed her wand down vertically, circled it three times clockwise, and then swished it up wards as if were a little children's fairy wand. The thimble gave a little wobble here and there and Violet smiled as it sproud into a beatuful blue vase She raised up her hand excitedly, "Look professor! I did it on my first try!" She beamed up happily at the teacher.

FireboltAvis88 02-16-2012 04:34 AM

Alyssa looked at the two vases that she had transfigured so far and decided to try again. She placed another thimble in front of her and pictured an image of what the vase would look like in her head. She then picked up her wand, and pointing it vertically down right next to the thimble, she concentrated on the transfiguration spell. She swished her wand in clockwise circular movements each time moving her wand upwards and outwards as she completed each circle. First circle....second circle....third circle. "FLORENEO" she said on completing the spell. A beam of light shot out of her wand and surrounded the thimble in front of her.

As the light disappeared in its place was the most lop sided vase she had ever seen. She started to giggle when she saw it. 'Oops looks like I lost my concentration there for awhile' Alyssa thought to herself and was going to revert the vase back into a thimble but then decided to keep it just to remind herself that she needed to really concentrate on the spell AND the image of the vase she wanted in order for her to properly transfigure the thimble into the vase she wanted.

LilFox06 02-16-2012 05:03 AM

Anya eyed her thimble. The more she looked at it the more Peter Pan came to mind. She smiled a little at the thought of a boy confusing a thimble and a kiss.

Huh? Um... right. Practicing. They were supposed to be practicing. She repeated the word under her breath until she got it right.

Alright. She held her wand directly above her thimble with the wand tip facing down. "Floreneo." she said as she pulled her wand back in progressively larger clockwise spirals.

The thimble grew in front of her. She blinked a few times seeing the final product.

Umm... she can just pretend she wanted a vase like that right?

Reaching over she grabbed a quill and quickly scribbled a note on her parchment.

'Note to self... STOP thinking about Peter Pan.

SilverDragon 02-16-2012 05:12 AM

After practicing for several minutes, Silvia decided it was time to actually give the spell a try. She pointed her wand vertically at the thimble, swished it around clockwise three times and said "Floreneo."

She watched as the thimble grew larger and...huh? It still looked like a thimble, only larger and a bit flatter on the bottom. Well, she guessed she could technically use it as a flower vase, but it really wasn't attractive at all. "I must not be concentrating on what I want it to look like enough," she muttered to herself. It was definitely a disappointment for one who supposedly had a good imagination; but then again, it was just her first try and she had been focusing on the incantation and the wand movements. "Okay, just need to concentrate and try again." She closed her eyes for a moment and tried to picture in her mind what she wanted the vase to look like.

2111jen 02-16-2012 07:29 AM

Sighing probebly from a bad thought that might happen, she put her thimble on her desk and pointed her wand downward at it. She moved her wand 3 times in 3 clockwise circles (small) and moved her wand upward a little bit with each one.
Jen thought a minute as she tried to figure out what the professor had said, she couldn't understand her a bit.
"Flereneo!"
The thimble had spun and fell on the floor.
Oh no... Jen thought. She looked on the ground. The thimble was still there un transfusormed.
"Ok, what did i do wrong this time?" Jen said outloud

Okay, that wasn't a very good sound.

Having shown the young one how to do the wand movement again, Isabelle was just about to go on a walkabout when the sound of breaking glass made her spin on the spot. She blinked a few times at the mess on the boy's desk, before looking him directly in the eyes. "Having problems Mister Vanderbilt?" That wasn't an amused smirk. No. And at least he had managed to make something, however fragile it turned out to be. "You can vanish that and try again. We've got plenty of thimbles."

Blushing furiously, the Ravenclaw started to stammer "I-I-I... I dont-- I mean it wasnt very--" strong? durable? "-- good. I mean the quality.... it broke easily." Yeah so much for getting it right the first time. Hurriedly he vanished the broken pieces then meekly reached out for a new thimble.

He sat there staring at the small metal piece, trying to visualize something far more durable than the first one he conjured up. Finally he mustered up the courage to try again, pointing his wand and twisting his wrist thrice in the upward, clockwise movement "Floreneo." The thimble swirled in its spot, growing in size until if finally settled to look like this.

*blink*

Uhm ok.

Vickers reached out and hesitating for a second, took hold of the vase. It was made of hard plastic. Certainly this wouldnt break now... thing is he'd be hard pressed to think of flowers that wouldnt need water either.

Laura looked at the Thimble saying that she'd show everyone she could do the task, she picked up her wand and then did the incantation and then said the spell. "Floreneo." Laura looked at the Thimble as it started to turn into a vase, but stopped half way, she decided to revert it back to being a thimble. "Reverto." Laura said as she did the incantation for the spell, and this time it went back to a thimble.

Banishing the mild disaster that was her first attempt, Kurumi reached for thimble number two and set it in front of her on the table before flashing a nervous smile at Oakey. This would be...slightly embarrassing if she wasn't able to at least make her thimble grow in size this time around. Then again, seeing at how much the Gryffindor was struggling to concentrate right now it wouldn't surprise her all that much.

Shaking out her hands and flexing her fingers, Kurumi took a few deep breaths before repeating the wand movement. "Floreneo," she said with a little more vigor in her voice this time. This time, the thimble began to shake and spin in a clockwise motion just like her wand movement had been. It began to glow a faint silvery color, much different than the white glow from when she had melted the thimble previously. In a few moments time, the thimble morphed into a vase. The material and texture wasn't any different from the thimble it had been moments earlier, but at least it hadn't melted and it looked like vase without any holes in it.

Tayla nodded as Professor Magnus responded. "Thank you, Professor."

She decided to practice once more. "A nice, clay flower vase please, Tayla!" she talked to herself. She closed her eyes and imagined it with her head before performing the spell on her next thimble.

Keeping the picture in her head, she pointed her wand directly downwards and vertical near the thimble. She made three clockwise circles moving farther away and upwards as she said, "Floreneo!" A sudden thought of a flower pot appeared in her head and Tayla quickly tried to focus on the vase she had in mind a moment ago.

Tayla watched as the thimble transformed gradually into a clay vase - sort of. It looked like something between a vase and a pot, and deformed, too. "Hmm...well, it's clay!" Tayla sighed. But she definitely needed more practice.

Something about this child made Isabelle want to sigh very loudly - probably the excuses. But she managed to hold it in. Instead she just gave her a stern look and raise of the eyebrows. "Laura, you have to remember that spell casting can be a dangerous thing. You need to make sure you are properly prepared before doing anything."

Now she did sigh a little when the girl sat down, seeming intent on not doing anything. "I don't want to be mean to any of you, but it's my job to make sure you all practice safely. Now, please, just take a few deep breaths, calm yourself, and make sure you are completely ready before trying again. But DO try again. Nobody gets anywhere by giving up."

She twirled her wand between her fingers as she did so. Spotting the Gryffindor Cookie Prefect's melted puddle of something Selena was struck with a thought. "Your thing looks like snot. Squeezing her eyes shut, Selena thought hard about what she wanted it to look like. GREEN. A lot of GREEN. And maybe... Slytherin-y? Yup. She opened her eyes and looked at the metal finger cap. DarkStorm 02-16-2012 02:49 PM

Harvey now decided to actually attempt the spell and wand movement on his itty thimble. So he put a thimble in front of him and imagined a yellow vase.. he then rubbed his hands and picked up his wand and got ready to attempt this spell.

He then went over the incantation in his head Floreneo... Floreneo.. Floreneo.. he looked at his thimble and then he pointed his wand down over the thimble "Floreneo!" he then moved his wand in 3 clockwise circles moving away from the thimble and slowly but surely the thimble got bigger and changed color and just when Harvey thought he would have the vase he imagined the tranformation stopped and showed Harvey his final product.. now he did NOT imagine THAT.... Harvey raised a brow at what he had created .. nope definitely NOT what he wanted. He guessed more concentration was needed..

2111jen 02-16-2012 04:09 PM

Jen repeated the circles with her wand vertical near the (well, above) the face
"Floreneo."
The face had transformed into a purple vacs with yellow spots.
"Cool"

WhittyBitty 02-16-2012 04:23 PM

Amelia had already made two vases so far, but she didn't see why she couldn't make some more right now. She did have plenty of thimbles after all, and she liked flowers. Maybe she could also give some of them to people as gifts. :3

This time she decided that she was not going to have a drawing when she attempted the vase. She wanted to try to make this vase red with gold swirls all around it. It would have a wide, circular base, and taper out need the top. The rim would be gold as well.

She held the image in her mind as she picked up another thimble and placed it in front of her. Pointing her wand downwards, she circled her wand three times clockwise, moving away from the desk. "Floreneo."

Now she had her pretty red and gold vase. :3

DarkStorm 02-16-2012 04:28 PM

Harvey decided to do it again.. so he got another thimble. He then closed his eyes and saw the vase that he wanted in his head again.. and he then concentrated on that image that he had in his head and decided to try again.. everyone was doing it so why couldnt he.. ok.. not all of them were doing it .. some were turning desks into flowers.. or breaking the ones they make.. but he would get this right .. he wanted to.. he needed to..

So he looked at the thimble and he then tried again.. "Floreneo!" he said as he did the 3 clockwise circular wand movements away from the thimble .. and as before the thimble started transforming.. and just when Harvey thought he had done it.. he saw that the transformation was sprouting some other stuff that he did NOT imagine in his head.. and then he saw it.. his new product.. definitely NOT what he imagined.. why was he suddenly having trouble in Transifiguration.. it used to be one of those fun classes that he got and understood completely. But at least this one could hold some flowers.. but never mind.. there was no harm in trying yet again.

laurange 02-16-2012 04:33 PM

Elise tried the incantation a few times before imitating the wand movement. Once she was confident with what she was doing, she pulled a thimble out of her pocket and set it on the table. Twirling her wand the way Professor Magnus instructed, she then shwished it as if it was a fairy wand.

"Floreneo,"
she whispered. The thimble grew taller, sure. But it still looked like an oversized thimble. "Reverto."

"What'd I do wrong this time?!"
she mumbled before preparing to try again, visualizing the actual vase that she wanted. "Floreneo," she said, a little clearer this time.

The thimble shuddered before turning transparent and spinning around quickly. When it finally stopped, Elise saw a delicate glass vase on her desk. It looked alright... Hopefully it wouldn't break when she touched it.

DarkStorm 02-16-2012 05:28 PM

Harvey put this new vase to one side and got hold of another thimble and decided to try again but this time with more concentration.. he visualised the vase that he wanted.. NOT the ones that he had already created no.. no.. he wanted this yellow one.. so he put the thimble on the desk and got ready to create this vase..

He pointed his wand at the thimble.. "Floreneo!" he said as he created 3 clockwise circles moving away from the thimble.. and once again the thimble started to transform.. it grew and changed shape and for once it was kind of going the way he would imagine it to go for the vase that he wantd to create.. so he continued to watch.. but soon he realised that this was still NOT the vase that he wanted.. and sure enough when the transformation was complete he could see it was NOT what he imagined.. this vase was actually MUCH better than what he had orginally wanted.. the other one was too plain.. but even though this was a mistake he loved this one better.. maybe he did an extra circle and thats why there were four bubble things in this design.. he would count how many he does on the next try.

But he knew that he would have to try and create the one that he had originally imagined.. if he had imagined this one then that would be ok.. but since it wasnt he knew that he had to get the one he imagined as he was still not able to do it correctly.. so he decided to do it one more time and put in ALOT of concentration.. he HAD to get it right this time..

SilverDragon 02-16-2012 08:05 PM

After a few more tries at transforming the thimble into a vase with varying success, Silvia prepared to try one more time. She concentrated on the image in her head. Then, once again, she pointed her wand at the thimble and said "Floreneo," as she made the proper circling motions with her wand. It finally seemed to work properly! The thimble grew larger and changed color, and eventually transformed into a simple but nice wooden vase. Silvia hadn’t tried to go for anything too fancy yet; that would probably have been more difficult and besides, she was happy with the result. She shifted the vase to the side and placed another thimble at the center of the desk, deciding to practice a little more.

DuckyLinJi 02-16-2012 09:11 PM

GASP!

Had the Professor just called him Daichi? Instead of Mr.Katharos?!

Now he KNEW he was doing something good! The Slytherin beamed brightly as he smiled back before looking at his thimbase on the desk. He wanted to try again and... hopefully it wouldn't break like that students vase did...

Grabbing his wand, Daichi pointed it at his thimbase and moved it in a circle. "Floreneo!" he said as he circled his wand three time clockwise while concentrating with all his might. His tongue stuck out a little bit in concentration and he frowned.

Slowly, the ThimbAse started to change again and to his suprise it changed further than his previous attempt. Biting his lip , he did a little prayer and hoped it would work. When the vase was done Daichi looked at it as his mouth dropped open for a second time. He was really getting better at this! ...Magic thing!

"Cute Duckies! I did it~!"

Grinning PROUDLY, Daichi lowered his wand and holstered it back in his wrist holster. He looked at his vase and thought it was funny how the bottom was still made of transparent glass while the top was still the greyish colour from the thimble.

But who cared?! He had done it! Doing a little victory dance by moving his hips from side to side and held his arms up in mid air in silent celebration... cause he wanted to celebrate this historic moment for him hehe.

Ella looked at her beautiful rainbow curvy vase and smiled. She decided since she had another perfectly good thimble on her desk she'd try and change that one as well. She could definitely use the practice. She pointed her wand at the thimble the way the Professor had showed, doing the circle motion as well. "Florene-aaaa-aaa-chooo!" Ella couldn't hold the sneeze in and flubbed the incantation. She looked around sheepishly, hoping not many people had noticed the incident. Thankfully nothing burst into flames and her thimble didn't even change, just shook a little. Probably more from the sneeze than from any magic Ella had produced. She decided she'd clean it before trying again. She pointed her wand at the items on the desk. "Scourgify!"

Annabelle trying to take another shot at the spell. "Alright i did it before i can do it again, maybe i can make a bigger vase this time." Annabelle took her wand and did the motions and said "Floreneo!" and it worked! A a clear vase with a little style to it appeared. "I am soo glad i am getting the hang of this. Professor i did a second time!" Annabelle said happily.

Oakey watched as Kurumi attempted her second try on a new thimble. He took note of her wand movement and repeated the image in his mind over and over until he felt he had it down. When Kurumi had finished the vase she had look devine. Wow Kurumi! That's a really cool looking vase

My turn. Oakey took his second thimble and pushed aside his enlarged thimble to the side of his desk. Okay Oakey just repeat a what Kurumi did and you'll get just as cool of vase as hers.
In a clockwise motion Oakey moved his wand upwards in circles. The thimble followed it twisting amd growing with his movements. As he moved his wand away to finish the transfiguration the bottom of the vase had fallen on itself and formed an ugly result.

He blinked at this one and then looked at her vase and back at his. It's uh an artistic representation He tried for this excuse.

Right. Practical application of a learned spell. That should have been pretty simple, but Selina had been dazing for a majority of the lesson, which was her fault in all aspects, but still she was sort of lost. Thankful she had caught the back end of Mangus' directions as to what they were doing. So the Gryffindor had a pretty good idea as to what was going on... for the most part.

With the thimble laying flat on the table she slowly outlined the direction of the spell. She slowly twisted her wand to move clockwise three times slowly. With each time she turned it she said the spell carefully. Along with that she moved the wand up and away from the thimble and back down with each circle. Finally with one last, "Floreneo!"

She watched as the spell seemed to do nothing. What in Merlin's beard. Finally, it seemed to respond, but not as well as she would have liked. It seemed that her vase was a tad.. off.

sweetpinkpixie 02-17-2012 01:14 AM

for some reason...I see a boot when I look at that vase XD

Kurumi tapped her wand against the vase she had just transfigured, sending a sharp tinking sound into the air, before looking at Oakey. "You are really giving me too much credit," she half laughed half sighed. As a fifth year, she really should be able to go much more than simply changed the shape of the thimble and make it grow. She could produce similar, if not the same, results with charms. "The base material is still the same as the thimble..." Unlike his that had actually changed materials. See, Oakey, too much credit.

Kurumi watched as Oakey gave it another go. When the transformation was complete, Kurumi tapped his result with her wand and it made a very different result than her own had. "Artistic representation or not, you managed to change the properties of the base material," she nodded in approval. That was the hardest step, to her at least. "Just a little more concentration and I am sure you will get the shape right." Besides, there were probably people out there that liked that folded on top of itself look.

Picking up thimble number three this time, Kurumi repeated the wand movement, making more graceful and less sharp clockwise circles this time. "Floreneo," she said once more, pleased to see the same glow that had happened minutes earlier. Soon, her thimble had changed shape again into that of a simple glass vase. Phew.

Please that she had changed the base material, Kurumi leaned back in her seat a bit. She needed to clear her mind of all her...distractions...so that she could make something a little more elaborate on her fourth attempt.

When the professor gave them permission to start practicing on the spell in earnest, Gideon starred at his collection of thimbles. Only three since he had already stuffed the rest he had grabbed in his bag for homework. The 5th year tried to think of what he was looking for in a vase before picking up his wand once more ready to give it a go.

"Floreneo," he cast as he moved his wand into the required point and clockwise circles. His hand slowly moving it up as they had been shown and his classmates and already tried as he pictured a random vase in his mind. As Gideon watched for reaction, the thimble seemed to be changing, gradually taking the form similar to itself yet obviously larger. He was soon greeted by a metal vase-like object and looking it over he let out a sigh of relief that at least it seemed half-way decent. Putting it back down on the table, he gave a simple "Reverto" to bring it back to normal which certainly moved more smoothly.

Jessiqua 02-17-2012 02:13 AM

Professor?

Zhenya looked back down at her silver, thimble looking vase. She shook her head and pointed her wand at it and said "Reverto," and it went back to a thimble.

She put her wand down and shook her hands, maybe there was some BAD energy in them! Then she rolled her head around and heard a few cracks. That felt better.

She picked her wand up again, and pointed it at the thimble saying "Floreneo!" and it popped upwards and outwards. It was STILL silver, STILL resembled a thimble and STILL had the same design pattern as the thimble. What was happening? She was getting quite frustrated and raised her hand. "Professor, what am I doing wrong? It won't turn into a vase that's not just a big thimble," she said, her voice slightly breaking in frustration.

midnight_thestral 02-17-2012 02:21 AM

Violet was really happy that the professor praised her for her vase creation. She took out her second thimble from her bag and placed it on the table. She pointed her wand down vertically, turned it three times clockwise and said out loud again. "Floreneo!" Instantly the thimble started to wobble again and fell over. Violet frowned at her thimble. Why didn't it change to a vase? Then, it popped in her mind. I forgot to swish it back upward! She did the movements again, but this time she swished her wand upwards and the thimble started to wobble. After a few seconds, it morphed into another pretty purple purple vase. She clapped delightfully at the beautiful vase she had made and placed both of them in front of her wand. Now which vase to choose from? The blue one or the purple one

GinevraWeasley 02-17-2012 02:24 AM

Vlimia decided to try again on her second thimble, this time going for something a little less odd than her previous creation. Or at least a little less anatomically heart-shaped, and weirdly rainbow.
"Okay Vlim, you can do this - you can make a vase that isn't totally weird." She said to herself, looking at her second silver thimble. As she got ready to do the spell, her mind drifted to a game of chess she had played with her big brother. Shaking that from her mind, Vlimia did the complicated wand movement and said "Floreneo!" Vlimia watched her little thimble morph into a vase... if you could call it that. It was more of an optical illusion or two halves of chess peices put together. At least it definitely wasn't rainbow.

Anna Banana 02-17-2012 02:41 AM

Oh. Right. Floreneo. She'd just try that one again, Sierra as she didn't even get past the Flor sound earlier. Just so she wouldn't run into the same issue she ran into before, Sierra said the incantation out loud a few times. "Floreneo," she said. "Floreneo." Pause. "Floreneo." There. That should do it. She really should remember the incantation this go round.

She went through all the wand movements once again. She pointed her wand downwards, vertical, and right near the thimble. Remembering that intent was also important, she focused for a moment on a pretty, green vase. It was wide at the bottom and more narrow on the top. Then she moved her wand in three clockwise circles, drawing the wand away from the thimble each time she completed a circle. "Floreneo!" she said.

She blinked as the thimble transfigured into the same pretty, green vase she'd imagined.

Well, that wasn't going to hold any water.

Isabelle had done a full circle of the room and was now back near where she'd started. And she was staring at the vase Vickers had just produced. "It's pretty," she said, nodding her head. "But, uhhh, the flowers are real, so....Maybe keep trying?"

He was still staring at his hole-y creation when he heard the Professor comment about it. He looked up, trying to think of a reasonable explanation, but instead uttered "Yes Professor. A vase that can hold water." best to to accept that his spells still needed work than to offer a porous argument.

Vickers reached out for a third thimble, this time making sure he familiarizes himself with the feel of the metal object. After rolling the piece a few times in his fingers he set it back down on the table then repeated the wand movement. "Floreneo!" The thimble swirled once again, growing wider and larger and for the first time, keeping its metal properties. With a rolling clunk the new vase settled solidly onto the desk.

Gasp. "It worked?"

Eager hands takes hold of the vase as bespectacled eyes examines the new creation. No holes-- other than the one on top where the flowers would go in. He rasps his knuckles against the body-- it sounded nice and solid and unbreakable. He puts the vase back down, happy that he finally had a successfully transfigured ugly vase.

Vashti decided to practice the wand movement before doing any spell-casting. The incantation seemed simple enough to say; it was the wand movement that looked tricky. So she tried it, pointing her wand down vertically and slowly moving it in the three clockwise circles. She did this a few times, trying to get the feel of it before she attempted it with the incantation.

Finally, she decided it was time to actually practice the spell. Placing one thimble in the middle of her desk, Vashti carefully performed the wand movement and said, "Floreneo." Slowly the thimble grew and enlarged and changed its shape into the typical curved vase-like shape...but it still looked exactly like a thimble. A vase-sized thimble. That...definitely wasn't right. "Reverto." The thimble went back to its original state.

While Alyssa waited for the Professor to tell them to stop practising, she decided to try transforming another thimble into a vase again. This time she decided to be a little bit more adventurous. She imagined what her vase would look like. She decided on the color and the shape. While concentrating on the shape of the vase, she picked up another thimble and placed it in front of her. Pointing her wand down in a vertical position, Alyssa swished her wand in a clockwise circular motion three times, each time as she completed one circle, she moved her wand upwards and outwards and away from the thimble. When she completed the third circle she said the incantation "FLORENEO" while still concentrating very hard on the shape of the vase and what she wanted the spell to do.

As like before a beam of light shot out from her wand, and engulfed the thimble. As the beam slowly disappeared, Alyssa was delighted to see that her vase had turned out exactly the way she wanted it to be. This lesson was getting really interesting.

Bazinga 02-17-2012 02:52 PM

Minerva did her wand movement again "FLORENEO" she saw the thimble change but frowned at the vase in front of her.
Vase

Then she shook her head. "Oh no I went counter clock wise instead of clock wise with her wand movement. "Reverto" she said as the thimble went back to it's normal. She looked over at Laura "How are you doing Laura? You look like your getting the hang of it." Minerva smiled at her friend and turned back to the thimble thinking about how she wanted it to look.

Jory wanted to get this right- not like his disastrous performance with the photo frame.

With the thimble in front of him, Jory visualised a white vase with simple blue clouds painted on, its shape would be shaped like a beaker from a science lab.

Pointing his wand in the vertical position, and switched his wand in the clockwise circular motion three times, moving the wand away everytime a circle was completed. "Floreno!'' he said concentrating with all his might and ready to control any excitement. He had learned well from his previous practice attempts.

After the light had cleared, which had shot out of his wand rather brightly, Jory was extremely pleased to see there was an exact replica of the vase he has visulised in front of him.

Devina Wellheart 02-17-2012 03:27 PM

Justin had been practicing the spell for quitw a while. Then he thought of a wonderful vase he had seen once and as he moved his wand clockwise around his thimble he kept that image in his mind as he said, " Floreneo." as he did and bringing his wand up as his spell pulled the thimble tall and it's color changed into a beautiful light shade of purple. Wide at it's base as it flared out only slightly towards it's mouth. He stood back and looked at it. It was just as he had pictured it. He glanced over at Minnie and smiled slightly.

natethegreat 02-17-2012 03:28 PM

After the teacher said what to do Nate got ready. He made sure he could do the wand movement. Check. He made sure he knew the incantation. Check. He made sure he had his thimble looking thing in front of him. Check. Now that he knew he had everything he was ready. He grabbed his wand from his holster and pointed it at the thimble. He then did the motion while saying "Floreneo!" Before his very eyes the thimble turned into a vase. He then stared in amazement. Unfortunately he had to turn it back into it's original form. So he did the motion while saying "Reverto!" It then turned back into it's original form.

Vlimia focused on her third thimble. Third time was the charm, right? Instead of visualising the vase she wanted (because that turned out to become two large chess peices), Vlim visualized water. What was more simple than water? She pointed her wand vertically, and then did the movement where it looked like you were trying to twirl your magic off the wand like a ribbon. "Floreneo!" She said, visualizing water clearly. After a moment, her little thimble started to grow and transform into something blue and glassy... the end result was, in Vlimia's opinion, her best work. The vase was definitely a vase, not chess peices or a rainbow heart. But she quite liked the other vases, in a different way. She liked this because it was definitely a vase and would probably get her a good grade. She liked the chess peices becuse they were fun to look at. Vlim liked the rainbow heart because it was so unique and fun. Seeing all of them lined up together was very nice. And to think they all used to be thimbles!

It was so nice when the kids got excited at being able to do something, and this Hufflepuff certainly was. "Well done, Miss Lecium. Very nice!"

Hmm. Isabelle surveyed the vase in front of her and chewed on her bottom lip. "What are you thinking about when you cast the spell?" she asked, putting her hands behind her back and turning her gaze to the girl. "It could be that you're paying too close attention to the thimble, rather than the image of what you want it to look like. Try thinking of something completely different and see how you get on."

Walking back to the front, Isabelle clapped her hands to get the classes attention. "All right everyone, I'd like to move on to the next part of the lesson. Those of you with more than one vase, please choose which you like the best and use that - the others can be reverted back and used for homework."

Clearing the board of the words on there, Issy added a new one instead - AGUAMENTI.

"We'll be using this charm to fill the vases and test them out for any imperfections." She gave a little knowing smile to everyone when she said that. Just because they looked good, didn't mean they'd hold water. "Now, we won't be learning it today, even though it could be classed as a transfiguration as well, considering it conjures water from your wand - no what I need is a few helpful volunteers that can already perform it to a standard that they are able to control the jets of water." No mess classroom, that was the aim. And would be nice.

Isabelle looked around at the older ones mainly. The younger students might know the spell, but controlling it was another matter entirely. "You'll be filling your classmates vases for them. Who would like to help, hands up please!"

OOC: I'll probably pick 3 or 4 people for this, and then you'll be able to interact with each other more when testing the vases. ;P

george is cool 02-17-2012 04:03 PM

Lilly instantly put up her hand. She liked volunteering for things. She'd heard of that spell, but what did it do? Then the Professor told them. Water, that was it. She was volunteering to fill vases with jets of water? That suited Lilly. She'd never used the spell, but she could try anyway. It couldn't be that hard, saying the incantation and filling up a vase with water. She put the best vase away, of the two she'd done. One still looked very like a thimble.
