Justin quickly entered the classroom and greeted the professor, " Good day , Professor Magnus. " he said as he gave a slight bow before finding an empty seat and getting his book out along with his parchement and all his supplies. |
Harvey entered the classroom and immediately saw the buckets of flowers and instantly wondered what they were for.. were they going to change the flowers into something else?! like they did the paper last lesson.. he wondered many things.. before snapping back to reality to greet his professor "Good day Professor Magnus.. How are you today? I like the flowers.. they are certainly beautiful professor.. but I cant help but wonder what we are going to be doing with them today." he said to the professor smiling.. before he realised that she wouldnt tell him anything since that would ruin the lesson.. so he took his seat and took out everything he needed and waited for the lesson to begin. |
Walking into transfiguration, Stella smiled as she saw the flowers covering Professor Magnus's desk. They were gorgeous, and obviously magical. It was still pretty much freezing outside, after all. She made her way to an open desk before saying anything, though, and set her school bag down carefully. Oberon was in there today, along with everything she needed for class, and she didn't want to startle the little figurine. Not when she was fairly certain it wouldn't be allowed to come out in this lesson, since it wasn't Charms. "Good morning, Professor Magnus," she did say, once she was settled in her seat. There didn't seem to need to be much more discussion, and she idly twisted the ring on her finger while she waited for the lesson to start. Although she wanted to find Professor Bentley later and tell her how gorgeous those flowers were. She was definitely curious what they were going to be using them for in Transfiguration, in any case. |

Kurumi was feeling much more relaxed in terms of Transfiguration since last term. The special meditation lessons she was having with the DADA professor were working as well...untill winter vacation happened. Then all her abilities went haywire and the fifth year found it nearly impossible to control. Like now. Kurumi wore a rather large crimson bow on the side of her head, something that was very uncommon for the Gryffindor to do - look THAT girlie - but she needed it to cover up the bit of dark magenta hair that refused to go back to black. Walking into the classroom, Kurumi sort of froze for a moment when she saw how many people were already there, and quickly shuffled her feet towards the front of the room where she promptly sat down and looked at Professor Magnus. "Good day...professor," she said with a forced cheerfulness as she took out her textbook, parchment, and quill. |
Lily made sure that she had her herbology gloves with her as she reached the door to the classroom. Smoothing her skirt quickly, Lily entered the classroom. As she passed the desk up front, she greeted the professor. "Good morning Professor. How are you today?" Lily asked grinning widely. She had somewhat enjoyed the last class but was hoping that this one would be even better. She continued through the class and took a seat off to one side, waiting for class to begin. |
Alex entered the Transfiguration classroom and began to search for an empty seat. "Hello Professor", she said as she walked by. Finding a spot that was to her liking, Alex removed her backpack and sat down. She then began to ready herself for the start of the lesson. |
"Hey Magnus," Ellie greeted as she entered the classroom. The buckets were noticed, but unconcerning. What WAS concerning was where she was going to sit, seeing as she wasn't exactly the first one. And she actually liked Transfiguration and usually tried to sit relatively toward the front. But she didn't see an open seat today. So, back of the classroom it was. Lucky no one was freakishly tall in front of her. |
CLASS HAS BEGUN! No posting coming in from now on please. Isabelle grinned at each of the remaining students as they came in and found a seat, speaking to her as they passed. "Good morning all of you! Welcome." Although her smile faltered a little bit when she saw the huge bow on Kurumi's head. What...Hmm. She wouldn't ask. No, on with the lesson. "Alright then, lets get started, shall we?" Flicking her wand at the board, the chalk rose up and wrote one word: FLORENEO Walking over to the box, Issy picked one of the metal objects out of it and held it up so they could all see. Or hopefully all see, it was rather small. "The spell we will be doing today is there on the board for you to see. And it requires one of these, and a little later, a bit of fun with the flowers. Now, I'd to hear what you think this is, and what we'll be doing with it today..." Any ideas welcome. She raised her eyebrows slightly and looked around the room. OOC: One answer each please. I'll be picking up again tomorrow to give everyone a chance to reply. And you can discuss ideas for what we'll be doing with each other if you want, but please don't chat excessively. Thanking youes. |

sorry for her silence :( rough times ahead Kurumi noticed the look about the bow on her head from Professor Magunus. She probably should explain things a bit. After all, she did promise the professor full honesty in regards to everything, but seeing as it probably wasn't going to interfere with the lesson Writing the usual, name, date, lesson at the top of her parchment, Kurumi copied down the word Floreneo in big letters as well and then just sort of stared at it. Latin again, no doubt. Something Kurumi knew nothing about despite the five years she had been studying spells primarily based on it. Sighing softly, she pushed the parchment a little further away from her. Her best guess was that the FLOR in it had to do with flowers and that maybe NEO had to do with new. So...new flowers? Maybe. Kurumi just did not feel like venturing a guess today though. Her heart wasn't in it. She did look up when Professor Magnus showed them a thimble - something she was very familiar with because of her mother's constant insistence on her learning things that a proper lady should know how to do. Her heart sunk a little bit more and her eyes drifted to the colored roses and then back to the thimble. What did all this have to do with the spell and a possible activity? Well, Kurumi would venture a small guess there she supposed. But then she realized that the spell had an extra e that she had missed before. FLOR and ENEO? Hmm...maybe she would venture a guess with the spell instead. "Are we...turning flowers into metal?" she asked. "Flor means flower and I think eneo means copper or bronze in...Spanish." And then sewing with it? |
Gideon's attention was drawn back to the professor when she stood up and began class in ernest. A spell appeared on the board and he picked up his quill to write it down in his notes as he listened to Professor Magnus speak a bit and finally pick something out of the curious box. What was it? The Gryffindor had no clue as to what it was, or anything to begin guessing about it. He would simply have to wait for some of his other classmates to try and answer instead, his eyes glancing around slightly trying not to appear too obvious that he was clueless. Maybe it was a more muggle-used item? A thimble? He heard that answer and looked to the Ravenclaw who had made it. And then Kurumi's breakdown of the language of the spell. Okay something into metal...that made that object...that thimble metal obviously. His gaze returning to Professor Magnus for confirmation on what was being said. |
Amelia's attention peaked as the Professor started the lesson. She was really interested in knowing what they were going to be turning the flowers into even though it was a real shame to spoil their loveliness. When they were asked to identify the object and think of what they'd be doing with it she raised her hand. "That's a thimble and I think we will be turning the flowers into those." Because why else would they have so many flowers in the classroom? She was sure there was some Latin root to the spell that explained everything, but she was no expert at Latin even if she was good with languages. |
Minerva put up her hand "Professor that is a thimble my grandma has one she uses when she is knitting. Could we be turning it into a cup." It was round like a cup, so maybe Minerva thought. |
Justin looked at what the professor was holding up and instantly knew what it was, " Professor I believe that that is a thimble. " Justin answered after having raised his hand. |
SPOILER!!: Kurumi Having been sitting at the same row as a certain lion Kennedy couldn't help but notice the large bow on her head. It was...quite attracting to one's eyes... or at least his. He sent a small wave her way. Kennedy turned his attention to the front of the room and listened as Professor Magnus began the lesson. He didn't feel the need to volunteer his thought on what the thimble was because a Ravenclaw had already said it. Instead he thought about the spell and what they might be doing today. After a while, he raised his hand. "As Kurumi said, Flor means flower in Spanish," he said. "I think...we'll be transfiguring the thimble into a flower...and the flower into a thimble?" Yes, no? Maybe? |
Florenoe? Adeline looked around. Was she the only one that has NEVER heard of this. Is Florenoe even a word? Not in the muggle world though. Everything here was different for her. It was harder. But more fun filled. Now what could this word mean what could it do. Adeline looked around. Maybe someone could say something to the teacher and she would be able to get some hints. Just to jog her memory or really her mind in general. |
F-fa-flor- FLORENOE say what? Selena blinked blankly at the word. Then blankly at the metal thingy they were supposed to use. "I think it's a thingy used to feed pygmy puffs something other than snot." Selena offered. Because it was very much possible. If it was so. Selena needed one. And figure out what the pygmy puff would eat out of the metally thingy. As for the spell? Flowers? Maybe they would be feeding pygmy puff flowers. |
Ummm...Hannah looked at the object that the professor was talking about but she really didn't have a clus as to what it was. She didn't want to not participate in the lesson but she didn't want to make a fool of herself either. The other students seemed to be in agreement that this thing is a thimble...still Hannah had never seen anything like it. |
SPOILER!!: Magnus and Kurumi Oakey's thought's continued on what today's lesson in Transfiguration would be. Then Kurumi walked in rather silent and sat in front of him wearing a large bow on her head. When the Professor had began talking she took something from a box that Oakey had not seen and showed it to the class. Oakey couldn't see it though, Kurumi's bow was to large and Oakey had to lean to one side to see that Magnus was holding a thimble. After Kurumi finished giving her answer Oakey leaned forward Kurumi? Oakey said to get her attention. I'm only good at changing an objects color. Could you help me during this class, today's seems kinda hard. His eyes kept going up to the giant bow on her head and he kept trying to bring them back down. He couldn't help it though, and was that some magenta in her hair? Did she dye it over break and it didn't come out well? Was that why she was trying to hide it? Did the bow have to be that big? |

Ella looked at the object and raised her hand with a smile. "Professor, it looks a lot like a thimble. My mom wears one when she sews. It could also be the top to a mini microphone. I mean they look kind of like that too." She said this with a shrug, wondering if they even had microphones in the magical world. |
SPOILER!!: Proffesor! Vlimia had sat down and had been busying herself by writing her name at the top of her journal, and adding unnecessary curliques to each letter in a different colour of ink. The end result looked quite nice, she thought. When Vlim was done, she waited for the proffesor to start speaking. When she did, Vlimia listened intently. She raised her hand to answer "Proffesor, that is a thimble, commonly used for sewing." But what could they use it for? "Are we transfiguring the thimble into... a blue thimble-flower?" She asked. Because they did exist. "Or are we having a competition between the houses to see who can water the flowers - or fill the bucket - with water, using a thimble?" She guessed, noticing that the flowers were all in house colours. But... what did that have to do with Transfiguration? If anything, that activity belonged in Herbology. |
Silvia raised her hand. "Well, the beginning of 'Floreneo' sounds like flora, which I think means flower. So maybe we'll be turning the thimbles into flowers?" Silvia had no clue what the rest of the incantation meant. |
Annabelle raised her hand. "Professor would we turn the thimble into a specific type of flower?" she asked timidly. |
