Alec closed the door to the compartment and started walking down the train corridor, his hands in his jeans pockets. It was good to leave Anya and Asher for a bit and just... think? Ugh, what was he, a girl?
But as much as he didn't want to think about... things... his mind couldn't help but jump on Adeline. He hadn't seen her since that incident on the platform with her mother. He didn't understand why that woman hated him so much. He hadn't done anything to her! Or to Adeline! Or was giving a girl an ice cream for her birthday really that bad?
Alec ruffled his hair as he continued to walk down the corridor. Maybe he could bump into someone he didn't know and just talk about random tidbits with them. And he could make a new friend! Someone who hadn't witnessed how scared he had gotten when Mrs Holiday told him to stay away from her daughter.

Adeline didn't know what the heck to do. She didn't know where to go. She didn't know who or what to think about. She knew that her mind would slowly be flooded by Alec and how nice he is to her but she just couldn't think about him. She knew that if she did then she would start feeling bad about what her mother had told him and she would possibly start crying her eyes out.
Adeline had walked out of the compartment that she had been in with two people she didn't know. She had to stop and just talk a breather. She couldn't be around those people when she didn't know them that much. She just wanted to talk to someone that would understand what she was going through and that person was herself because she didn't have any friends whatsoever. She wanted a best friend that if she could cry on their shoulder and just be truthful about why her mother gets her so angry sometimes. Most of the time her mother was so understanding but today wasn't the day for her. She wished her mother hadn't acted like her dad. She hated the way her dad acted. If her father had found out about Alec, she would've been going to some other magical school and not Hogwarts at all. Adeline had gotten lucky.
Adeline moved her head up so she could see the people in front of her. Was that Alec? God she hoped not. That wouldn't be good if it was. Well she couldn't hide now. all the compartments were full of older, younger and new students that she didn't know. But what was she suppose to do now?
She walked on and got bumped by someone who then made her run into Alec. Adeline sighed. "I'm sorry." she said not looking at Alec.

Alec ruffled his hair some more as he continued to walk down the corridor. Really. He needed someone to talk to. Anyone. Maybe he could stop into one of these compartments and make some new friends? That didn't seem like such a bad-
BOOF!
Blinking, Alec stepped back from the person who had bumped into him. "I'm so-" Wait, wasn't that- "Adeline?" he asked, looking at the girl carefully. The girl had the same hair and glasses as Adeline. But it couldn't be. Adeline would look at him when he's speaking to her, not avoid his gaze.
Alec frowned. It definitely had to be Adeline. "Hey Adeline," he said, smiling at the girl, "Erm, how are you?" See? He wasn't going to make things awkward. No no. He was just being a friend. No need to bring up what Mrs Holiday had said to him.

Adeline still couldn't make her look at Alec. She felt guilty in a way. It was her fault and she was going to tell herself that it was. It really wasn't but it was.
She didn't look at him. "Yes?" Adeline questioned. She kept her eyes focused on her feet. If she even the slightest looked at him the tears would go streaming down her face. She didn't want to reveal any emotion to seem like she cared about him.
Adeline sighed. "Hi Alec," she told him. "I'm alright." she knew that she looked like a fool for staring at her feet but maybe he would understand without even telling him why she was looking at her feet. "Er...how are you?" she asked him

Mortimer moved through the corridor rather casually ... but in reality he was slightly awed by the whole thing. He had read a lot about the Hogwarts Express and had obvs been to a magical school, but he was seriously... AWED by seeing this all first hand. All the other magical kids flitting about made him grin from ear to ear.
Making sure that his little gecko was safely on his shoulder he looked for... someone. ANYONE he had previously met or SOMETHING. Maybe he would even meet some more new peoples. Hehe.

Alyssa saw Adeline talk with her friend. She looked upset and couldn't even look up at the boy she was talking to. 'Awww. I wish that there was something I could help her get over this awkward moment'' Alyssa thought to herself as she stood there in the corridor.

Barging out of her compartment, Louisa dropped her novel on the floor. She didn't bend right away and pick the book up, however, instead she glanced at both sides of the corridor apparently looking for someone. Disappointed, she picked up her book with a big pout on her face and opened it. If Joao was not looking for her the same way she was looking for him, he was in HUGE trouble. One of her joke products found their victim pretty early this year, it seemed.
Trying to walk in the narrow and a bit crowded corridor while your face is in a book was impossible. The girl bumped few younger kids before giving up and shutting the book up. FINE. She'd wait for him without reading. Leaning against the windowed wall, she crossed her arms and observed...
O___o
"You have a bug on your shoulder!" The girl shouted at the boy passing by. She flattened herself against the wall and was holding her breath. IT WAS A LIZARD NOT A BUG!

... Why was that strange girl acting so... strange? Mortimer got a bit wide eyed and looked around to make sure she was shouting at HIM. And yes, yes she was. Funtimes. Getting shouted at the first time on the Hogwarts Express. FUN.
"It is not a bug. He is my pet. It's a Westland Green gecko. He is indigenous to New Zealand. My brother brought him back to me from his travels. I feed him fruit and nectar mostly. You can touch him if you like... his skin is rather velvety." See. Touch my lizard. Yep.

Alec blinked at Adeline. Why wasn't this girl looking at him? Did she hate him as well? Just like her mother? And to think he thought they weren't alike.
But wait, this wasn't that hatred thing. She was just... not looking at him. That had to be it. Ugh, girls confused him and he wasn't even thirteen yet. That's when all these confusing things happen. But at least she knew he was there. If she hated him, she would have ignored him outright.
"Erm, hey!" Had he said that already? "I'm glad." Now she could look at him! You know... if she was 'alright' and all. As for him... "Erm, yeah, i'm okay. You know, just... wandering around..." Oh way to go, Alec! "So you excited about Hogwarts?" See? They could be friends... even if her mother didn't approve.

... And then there was someone else there. The girl seemed very familiar for some reason. Had he met her before? Maybe on the platform? No, that was Cody. But this girl did look a bit like Cody. In a really weird way.
Alec thought for a minute before ruffling his hair and smiling at the girl. "Erm, hey!" he said, giving the girl a single wave of his hand. Maybe she could knock some sense into Adeline and get the girl to look up properly. Girls understood each other. And he was a boy. He didn't understand girls at all.

Louisa's eyes couldn't get any wider as she stared at the small SCARY thing... while the boy babbled. If her heart wasn't hammering against her chest, she would've moved her gaze toward the boy and told him to cut down on words but that lizard-like bug was too overwhelming. In a bad way.
TOUCHIT?
"N-n-no." Clearing her throat and letting her feet touch the ground once again, for she was standing on her tiptoes for some weird reason, the girl pulled her eyes away from the nasty animal to its owner. "C-c-can you move a bit farther?" Not that he was too close or anything but... at this distance his monster could leap at her and sink in her hair.
"Sorry I startled you by the way," she didn't say it sweetly or apologetically, just matter-of-factly. Louisa was like this with strangers. Especially if they had monsters on their shoulders.
Mortimer decided pretty quickly that this girl was crazy. And clearly she was a bit daft as well. Pursing his lips slightly he looked at her and shook his head. Muttering something in Greek he began to walk past. "How very rude... He is just a harmless little gecko," he said sorely. "And thanks for the apology..." he added as an afterthought.

The girl's jaw dropped open. "Excuse me? Did you just say rude?" Seriously? Because she didn't like his lizard? The boy was walking away but she blocked his way, raising her palms up. "Wait a second. There is no need to scold me in more than one language." She said, coolly but a bit sternly. "I don't really like... reptiles." In fact, she thought nobody did. Until now. "Did I..." Gulping and blushing slightly, she went on choking on her words because this was NOT like her, "...hurt your feelings?"

Adeline ran her hand through her dark brown hair and turned away from him because her neck was hurt and she wasn't going to give in like her heart wanted her to she wasn't going to give into this...this...moment. She knew what she felt and she was slowly starting to lie to herself about it.
*awkward*
He said that already! "Hi." she told him. "You are?" she asked. She was about to turn around but she made herself stay the way she was. Even looking at his face would throw her off. "I'm just wandering around too. Yes I am. You?"

Mortimer did not have a temper per se, but he most certainly did not appreciate being scolded by RUDE strangers. Not one bit. And the girl stood in his way. He would hate to have to push her aside.
...
No instead he simply turned on his heel and began to walk the opposite direction. Only pausing to look over his shoulder and say something. "Yes, I said rude. You shouted and blocked my way merely because I don't appreciate being... accosted in the corridor of a train. Where I come from that is indeed rude. And lastly, it would take more than that to hurt my feelings... but I think you hurt his feelings." Yep. She did hurt his gecko's feelings.

Blink. Blink. Blink.
Was he serious? Louisa didn't move but her pout grew, "I didn't accost you. I thought it was something threatening." She hated this voice she used like a little girl whining, "And I didn't block your way in a rude gesture. I didn't want you to leave without understanding my... attitude." Where he came from. Hmm. That meant he was new. And not from England. Well then, way to go Louisa. "You're a new student? I'm so sorry!" She hurried behind the boy.
Noooow she got it, he came from a place where they lived in jungles and had lizards, crocodiles and miniature lions as pets. Yep, that was the only explanation. Luckily, this gecko wasn't some traditional token or a sacred figure to his people. Louisa might be in grave danger if his tribe found out about her insult!
...nope, her novel had nothing to do with this melodramatic explanation.

She hadn't REALLY accosted him, no. But Mortimer did feel violated in some way. Great first train ride right here. GREAT.
"YOu thought my gecko was threatening? Why would I bring something onto a train full of people that could possibly harm someone. He's a gecko... he doesn't do much," Mortimer said defensively as the girl basically chased after him. What was WITH women wanting to fangirl over him so?
"Yes I am new to your country and the school. Thank you for being so welcoming," he said sardonically.

The first thing she had noticed about the Hogwartians, as they would come to be called by her, was how many of them there were. And how noisy they were. She couldn't even use her muggle-music-i-pod-contraption to try to block out all the shouts and exclamations of pre-study joy and post-greeting giddies.
Perhaps it was best, for if she had been plugged into her music she probably wouldn't have heard the shout of surprise and horror that belted from down the corridor. Swinging her violin case onto her shoulder, and giving a quick over-the-shoulder apology to whoever she hit with the case, Tasia pushed herself up onto her toes to try and see down the corridor.
Oh! Was that a verbal scrap? Wait....that was Mo, wasn't it?
Letting out a huff of air, Tasia dropped back onto the balls of her feet and started forward with a face set of determination. First day, not even, and already Mo was getting himself in trouble. Or was someone getting in trouble with him? Either way, that person was looking for a clobbering. No one picked on her cousin----
Was this about his gecko? Blinking, Tasia drew to a stop as she broke through the corridor crowd to see Mo and some....girl blocking his way. Well, at least he didn't make her move and resolved to go in the opposite direction; it was more than she could say she would have done. As it was she was already folding her arms and frowning at the apparently-problematic-girl.
And now she was chasing Mo? Just.....what?

"I don't know!" Still trotting behind the boy, "I was just so surprised. I never saw a gecko in person before." Making it sound like an honor, while really Louisa would've done without the gracious meet. And there you go, he was indeed new which makes him number two. She'd been rude to a foreigner last year too but that turned out really well later considering the fact that he was her boyfriend now. See? She wasn't all bad.
"I said I was sorry, you can stop running away from me now." Before this accosting thing, she wouldn't have cared whether he walked away or not, but now she was obliged to make him feel comfortable and welcome. Him and his monster.
...also, why was this girl running forward? Pfft. Never mind. Louisa had insulted one of the foreign country's animals, it seemed.

She was gonna give in and she wasn't going to like it one bit. Adeline turned around and started to look at him. She wasn't going to cry. She wasn't going to cry. She wasn't going to let her mother or Alec do this to her. She was now fighting the urge and she was doing a better job than she thought.
She looked at him and saw his face. The face that she had been trying so hard not to look at. "I dunno. I think I'm excited for Quidditch. My father can't stop me this time." she said as tear started to fall.

"I said I was sorry, you can stop running away from me now." Before this accosting thing, she wouldn't have cared whether he walked away or not, but now she was obliged to make him feel comfortable and welcome. Him and his monster.
...also, why was this girl running forward? Pfft. Never mind. Louisa had insulted one of the foreign country's animals, it seemed.
Mortimer was on the verge of literally RUNNING away from the girl when he spotted his dear cousin creeping his way. HUZZAH! Making a grabby hand for her he pulled her to his side. "These people are insane, Tas. This girl accosted me in the corridor because I have a pet gecko... why didn't you warn me that Britons have mental issues?" he said beseechingly to her in little more than a whisper.
Glancing back he heaved a heavy sigh and stopped finally. "It isn't I you should apologize to. You hurt Dionysus' feelings. Look how his little head is dropping," Mortimer said as he studied the gecko on his shoulder.

See Tasia... she was a gecko hater. SHE WAS.
The frown didn't decrease on her expression, though it was interrupted by a startled set of features as Mo practically dragged her to his rescue. Stumbling a step, she glanced from her clearly upset cousin to the girl that insisted on following him. For a moment, she eyed the girl, tilting her head and pursing her lips before regarding Mo. "You've met my mother, Mortimer." That should have given him enough of a warning as to the mentality of those that lived on the Great Isle. But the situation seemed to need a bit more of an explanation. "They like their owl's, Mo."
She had an owl as her familiar too, but hey, it was easier to send and receive messages by. How long would a lizard take? Weeks? Months? If it didn't get squished by a car or a wizard or witch that thought it was somehow evil.
Her thoughts and attention finally returned to the girl as she wiggled her hand free of Mo's grip. Or attempted to. "You know, people don't usually run unless they are being 'chased'." See the problem? She did. But then, she was a little biased. A pause of curiosity. "What type of familiar do you have?"

Alyssa knew that she had made a mistake taking a walk along the corridors. Now she had the Head Boy asking her why she was crying. "It's nothing, Treyen. Really. I was just missing my family. I always do this every time I have to say goodbye to them." Alyssa told Treyen, hoping that he would believe her lie. "I guess I should go wash my face before I alarm someone else. Thanks for asking though." Alyssa thanked him as she quickly headed to the nearest washroom.
Nothing? Tears were never for nothing. There was always a reason. Oh, wait. Family? Oh, well, that made sense. Not that Treyen had been in that same position before when it came to family, but he knew goodbyes were emotional.
He nodded, his face slightly saddened by the fact she'd been crying. "It's okay. I understand." Plus, he had been emotional enough when his favorite Professors weren't returning. Granted, it wasn't the same situation or anything, but it was close enough.
Another nod came around when she spoke again. That would be wise if she didn't want anyone else to notice. So, he let her go, and left the other two with the bird after a 'See you around' was said.
Jessie ambled down the train corridor trying to find a car. The problem was, she didn't know ANYBODY yet, and jumping in a car full of seventh years seemed quite frightening indeed. Her baby owl hooted at her; he seemed to want out of his cage. She walked a little further to find, to her extreme happiness, the very last empty car. She unloaded her trunk, and let her new little friend out of his cage. "You know," she said aloud to him. "You still need a name. I can't keep calling you 'little boy' or 'baby' forever." She sat thinking about a name when there was a knock on the door.

Louisa found herself facing a gang. Of two. Foreigners. With a little monster. Where was Joao again? Gulp. The girl seemed way more scary than this gecko creature. And the boy was saying things to her, Louisa caught mental and frowned at him. Before blinking when he said that his monster was hurt. "I'm sorry but I'm not going to apologize to a reptile." She folded her arms across her chest nervously, "It doesn't even understand our language." And there was no way that Louisa would do one of the reptile sorry sounds. If there was any, but who knew? For all she knew nobody had a reptile as a pet before!
Turning her eyes to the rescuer girl, Louisa scoffed. Owls. Yeah, right. Whatever. ANOTHER scoff. "I beg your pardon but I wasn't chasing him!" Louisa dropped her arms and gestured with one at the boy, "I was walking after him to apologize. And I did! He just wants to make things impossible." Pooooout. Where were they from? Louisa thought England had the most stubborn people on earth! Hmph.
Her familiar? "You mean pet? I..err.. have a kitten." Who was nowhere to be seen. She was lazy, shoe-licking and stubborn so Louisa rarely took her out of the compartment in the train.
