I kid you not, this is one tree you don’t want to mess with. It's best you keep a safe distance from the Whomping Willow's tree limbs or you may end up with a few broken limbs yourself.
The smile that had been on his face from the moment he saw her, simply widened. She didn't want to keep it, eh? Perfect! Because he wasn't giving it away. It was probably the first piece of clothing he'd chosen on his own. He couldn't remember whether it had been during the summer before his second year, or his first.
Basically, he's known that scarf longer than he's known Ellie. Maybe even Aaron. Shocking.
"Good." That was his reply. Plus the smile from before.
Right. She wasn't really considering it since she was already saying she couldn't see herself as blonde. But...it all didn't matter. Ellie...wait, what? Because it was his birthday? She'd do it? See, it was fairly obvious she wanted to keep the red she had, yet she was willing to change it...just for the fact that it was his birthday today.
But you know, it wasn't that he was a little biased, "A lot, not a little." He corrected, with a wink, before adding something else, "Can you blame me?" And...another wink after that, of course.
"I wonder what else I could ask for...," a smirk resurfacing again, "...since, as you put it, it's my birthday."
His eighteenth birthday. It felt incredibly strange to be already eighteen, truth be told.
Well, he thought of something, perhaps a little bit too evil for a Hufflepuff, and for him...but..., "Say I'd rather hang out at the library today...would you come with me?" YES, very evil Lockhart, but maybe this was the only way, like Arya had mentioned before. Yet he knew there was no way Ellie was going anywhere close the library, much less inside it.
As much as she'd like to get OFF of this topic, Ellie kept thinking of things to add. And might as well, since they were already on it, right?
About the scarf, that is. Not so much the reason behind WHY she wanted his scarf, or why he was willing to give it to her. "You should...like...carry it around 'til then." Not wear it. It was April. People didn't wear scarves in April. "Just to...make sure." Make sure the smell didn't fade some over the warmer months, when it was just sitting...in his trunk, probably.
She HATED mentioning this on his birthday...but again, they were on topic..ish. And she didn't want to forget to mention it later. And... "Will I see you? Over the summer? Or are you particularly busy?" Because that wasn't their thing, hanging out during the summer. Not that they never saw each other it just...was never...enough. But it had always been okay, because they'd see each other over the school year....but...she wanted to make sure she saw him...enough this year.
Ellie wasn't looking at him when she asked that. No. She'd curled her legs up and was hugging her knees, but looking up at the Willow. Mhm.
She wasn't sure how serious he was being, since he didn't give her a direct 'go ahead' to change her hair. So her wand was staying in its holster for the time being. Her eyes were back on Treyen in time to see his wink, and consequently blush. "I disagree, though." But he knew that.
"Anything, probably," she shrugged. It was his birthday. So...yeah, anything.
Anything BUT that. Ellie averted her gaze again, imagining being in such a horrid place as the library. She gave an involuntary shudder just at the thought. "That's cruel," she mumbled, shaking her head rather aggressively. No, Treyen, she would not go into the library. Sorry. It was too nightmarish for her.

What? The scarf?
That's what she meant, right? That he should carry the scarf around? At all times? Why exactly? It made no sense to him. Then again, many things didn't. At least he knew she didn't mean for him to wear it all this time. Or so he thought.
"Make sure of what?" he wouldn't forget to lend it over, if that's what she was talking about. Even if he did, she could always remind him.
WAIT.
Where did that come from? They were barely discussing a scarf and now they were discussing...something he definitely didn't want to discuss, mainly because he'd been trying not to think of the fact that he'll be away from her in a few months.
Treyen wasn't quick to reply, though, it took a more seconds than he'd originally thought before he could muster a word. "I'm going to Simon's...for a week, or two, or three." He really had no idea he knew he HAD to be there for at least a week, but Simon will probably want him to stay a bit longer. "But, other than that...," here's where his smile got wide again, "...I'm all yours, if you want me." So, basically, she WILL be seeing him. And a lot, if she so wished.
He did notice the change in her position, but thought nothing of it. She was probably tired of the old one, anyway.
Ah, but he knew that! That she'd disagree. "I hope there comes a time when you won't," he had to be the one to ensure that time came along, no? Not the easiest of tasks.
NO, NO, WAIT. He didn't mean it! The library bit.
At least now he knew just how much she hated it. Only now he hated himself for bringing it up. As soon as Ellie answered, he sat up and placed an arm around her, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it." He kissed her cheek once. "Truly sorry." He did the same one more time. "Try to forget I ever said such a thing." He kissed her cheek again. And, no, he wasn't bringing up the library ever again, nor books for that matter."Please, forgive me?" Another kiss should make her forgive him, no?

"Make sure it smells like you," she said. Clearly, it was very important to her. And she wanted to make sure that the one piece of Treyen returning next year, had as much Treyen on it as possible.
...Not in a creepy way or anything. Promise.
The silence was killing her. No, really. Ellie's heart sank, and the hold her teeth had gotten on her lip got stronger, with every passing second of it. He was probably recounting all his plans, no? The dozens of people he's promised to visit or meet with. And trying to figure out just where he could fit her in.
She nodded when he mentioned Simon's, but barely, waiting for him to continue. When he did, that was certainly not what she was expecting. He didn't have ANY other plans? At all? None?
Grin.
Of COURSE she wanted him. "Good." And NOW she was done, okay? Completely finished with that conversation. She could contently move on. Treyen was willing to do the same, no?
Hmmm. Ellie didn't see ever considering herself 'beautiful'. Regardless of hair color. Or length. Or what she wore. She was just...Ellie. But she didn't really think she had a good definition of 'beautiful' anyway. She'd probably have to figure that out first. "We'll see." Maybe there will be a time she'll agree with him. In the very distant future.
Oh!
She SO didn't expect him to react that way. And, actually, ended up smiling. Also, giggling. The kisses were probably most to blame. "I know you didn't, it's okay." Really, she didn't think he meant it. It was just like someone dangling a spider in front of your face, when they knew you hated them. Frightening, but not actually a threat. Especially when you trusted the one with the spider.
But it was okay. He could get away with whatever today, remember? That still held true.

Logan carried his bag that held all his art supplies down to the Whomping Willow, his kitten, Peeta, poking his head out of the bag. Logan found a good spot to sit, and sat down. Peeta crawled out of the bag, and meowed at a caterpillar that was inching by. Peeta sniffed the caterpillar, sneezed loudly, and wasn't so interested in it anymore. Peeta curled up in a ball and fell asleep, as usual. Logan took out his Ipod, sketchpad, some jellybeans to snack on, and a quill. He turned his Ipod on, and played one of his favorite songs, and began drawing Peeta, eating a few jelly beans once in a while.

Cardigan *walked along outside, dragging her guitar on the ground behind her. Not the wisest choice, mind you. *Sure, it would get dirty and all, but it could be fixed, no doubt about it! She pushed her Sunglasses to where they completely covered her eyes as she steered herself towards the Whomping Willow, her preferred place to play Guitar. Cardigan quickly noticed that Logan was also there! It had practically become a sense, her being able to find her friend so easily. She noticed how deeply immersed he was in what ever he was doing. With a sigh, she scampered along to a spot not too far away from her friend as she began to play a song, singing along softly, which was one of the first she mastered. Oh yeah; Sunglasses repositioning**time!

Logan finished the song and put the guitar off to the side, and lay down on his back looking at the sky when he heard a familiar singing voice near him. He turned his head a little and saw Cardigan, singing and playing guitar. She was good. He closed his eyes for a second, listening to her voice and guitar. After a while, he got up and walked over to her, smiling at her. "You're good." he said quietly. "I like that song. Maroon 5 is good." He said, still smiling.

It saddened him, really, and he wished he could still spend her last year at Hogwarts with her. Or that he wasn't leaving this year. Was she going to miss him that much? He...had no idea. He wasn't asking either.
Treyen took her hand. "I will." Make sure, somehow. A reassuring smile was given to her.
Since his eyes were on her, he noticed what was actually worrying. Even if she was going to have him for the majority of the summer, it wasn't enough time. Not at all. Time went by so fast these days that soon enough September will come and take her away from him. He...probably shouldn't be thinking about it now, but it was her fault, she was the one to bring it up.
He was putting an end to it. That's why he wouldn't comment, he simply nodded and tried to match her grin. He succeeded.
Very gladly, he welcomed the former and current topic of 'beautiful'. It wasn't until now that he realized a very important thing. "Perhaps you will. At least now you let me call you 'beautiful'."Wink. See? That was what he'd failed to realize, because she used to make a face at the word a couple years ago. They'd definitely improved, then.
And she was back to smiling!
He could go back to being the happiest Lockhart today, no? Definitely. He wasn't sure if he wanted to lie back again, though. He'd rather keep her as close as he had her now. The only change? He laced their fingers together. With the hand he was holding, of course. "Thank you," for forgiving him. Or trusting him enough not to believe he'll make her do what she most feared. Even if it was a rather irrational fear, books did no one any harm. Though, perhaps Dallin would say otherwise.
"So...," there was one topic that wasn't settled and he wasn't letting it go, "...you're going blonde, then?" A shade darker than the one Brielle had could work...or half a shade lighter than he used to be, if that made any sense. Three shades lighter than he was now was probably the same thing. He had no idea.

Right. Well, good.
Honestly, Ellie wasn't totally against talking about him leaving. That wasn't what upset her. It was more the fact that she could miss him seconds after they parted ways for the day, and now wouldn't be seeing him for months. However, she was sure that the idea of not coming back to Hogwarts - of leaving it for good - was upsetting to Treyen. Who liked the school enough to spend Christmas here.
So she made no comment beyond a nod and a returned smile.
Why, yes, she did allow him to call her that now. She wasn't going to tell him how she'd stopped refusing because it contradicted her 'you should say whatever you mean' ideology. But she did say, "I believe you think so. " Because she did. "Crazy as it is."
Just like he was crazy for loving her. Ellie still believed he did.
"I wouldn't let you spend your birthday in the library anyway." Even if she wasn't bibliophobic. Libraries were for studying. Something banned on birthdays. Something that should ALWAYS be banned, but unfortunately, something even Ellie couldn't avoid forever.
Crud.
She was hoping he'd forgotten about that. That he'd gotten too distracted from thoughts of summer, or from scaring her and trying to make it up to her. But no. "Fine," she said, rolling her eyes.
She flicked her wand from its holster, cast around for nosy busy bodies, and tapped her head. Blonde. "Ristaris." It was probably a good idea to NOT try it nonverbally. How awful would it be if she messed up?
The redhead blonde looked down at her shoulder to see if it had worked. And, too quickly for her taste, the red was washed away by a much more blonde color. She picked her head back up and looked at Treyen, cheeks tinged pink. Happy, Birthday Boy?

Cardigan practically jumped when she heard a very very familiar voice above her. She did not see that coming! She looked up and blushed instantly, seeing it was Logan. Avery sat down near the wild tree and watched it's branches sway, in a weird way it made her think of her past four years in hospital fighting cancer. She was so happy she beaten it, now she hoped it would never return. All she wanted was to find new friends and be happy. Of course a boyfriend was out of the picture, who would want to go out with the freak who has only just started attending Hogwarts because she was seriously ill, the one knew next to no magic, so had to study constantly. No matter how beautiful she was, no one would look twice at her. So friends was her aim, no higher, no lower.
Avery brought her knees up to her chest and sighed, as a single tear fell down her cheek.

"Vanillaaaaa!!"
Lewis usually wasn't one to call out for somebody or do anything that would draw attention to him. His cat Vanilla was an exception, though. And she'd been missing for quite a while now. At first he hadn't been too worried, she was old enough to take care of herself. Plus as long as she stayed in the castle she was safe. But now that the end of term was just around the corner, he had started to get a little anxious about getting her back. Where WAS she?!
He stopped dead in his tracks when he came face to face - well, not literally but you know - with the Whomping Willow. She wouldn't...right? Now he was chewing on his lower lip so hard that he was about to draw blood. Oh but there was somebody sitting close to the huge tree. Maybe she'd seen something. Completely oblivious to the girl's misery, Lewis approached her and asked quite bluntly, "Have you seen my cat?" He wasn't entirely sure if he wanted the answer to be 'yes' or 'no'.

Avery thoughts were interrupted by a boy anxious, but quite plain voice. Wiping her eyes with the back of her hand, she turned to look up at him, he appeared to be roughly a year older than her and she noticed his eyes first of all. His eyes her wide with worry and strangely this made Avery worried too and she knew it would show in her own soft brown eyes.
No, she'd not seen a cat. But part of her didn't want to disappoint him, but she couldn't lie to this boy. "I'm sorry, I've not seen your cat." She said, her voice quiet but strong, then she added. "I can help you look her it if you'd like?" Normally she'd steer clear away from people, she liked to pass unnoticed, though recently she liked having friends, but this boy made her want to help, she felt compelled to do so.

He stared at her expectantly as she seemed to muse over his question for a second. It wasn't that hard, was it? Either she'd seen Vanilla or she hadn't. And it turned out she hadn't. With a sigh he was already half turned away again - making a mental note to come back to Whomping Willow when he coudn't find his cat anywhere else - when he remembered his manners. "Oh, thank you." For nothing basically but you know.
Before he got the chance to walk off this time, the girl spoke up again and his eyes flicked back to her. She wanted to help him find his cat? "Why...?" It wasn't exactly an answer to her question but he just had to have his answered before. Why would she want to run around the castle looking for HIS cat with him? It didn't make a whole lot of sense to him.

"Just trying to be nice." She said biting her lip, she was starting to wonder why she'd even bothered coming back to school. Maybe she would have been better staying in that hospital bed, withering in pain, at least there the doctors and nurses were nice to her.
She brought her knees back up to her chest and sighed, she wanted to help him find his cat, he seemed nice enough and why not? It was like she had anything better to do with her time, having no free tended to lead to that. She wiped a tear that had just fallen away from her cheek, hoping the boy hadn't seen. He probably thought she was pathetic and fragile, or something.
Lewis just looked at her for a moment longer, going over the words in his head once again. That sounded...like a good reason. Once he realized he'd just spent the last few seconds practically staring at her - well, not her per se, he hadn't focused on anything but it must have looked like that - he blushed a little while nodding slowly. "Sure. Sounds good."
The reason sounded good anyway. He wasn't so sure if it was a good idea too but he was bound to find out soon, wasn't he?
It was only then that he actually looked at her for the first, just in time to catch her rub at her cheek with her hand. Not really sure why she was doing it he just shrugged it off, and continued to stand there a little awkwardly. She was going to have to get up if she wanted to help him find Vanilla. "She's a tabby cat. Black and gray. Or gray and black actually." Lewis offered with another glance around as if she would just materialize from behind a bush or something.

Avery waited for him to reply, wiping away more tears as they fell, why couldn't she stop them. She turned away from the boy, who's name she still didn't know and rubbed at her eyes. Then when she turned back he was blushing, why was he blushing? She ignored it and then stood up. "Are we searching together or separately?" She asked him, brushing a stray hair from in front of her eyes.
She wondered absently whether he had noticed her tears, she hoped not..she didn't want to seem weak, when with what she had been through, she knew she wasn't. "Okay then." She said, sending a reassuring smile his way, as she saw him look around anxiously for his cat. His description of his cat sounded exactly the same as her old cat, Coco, who had gone missing quite a while ago..they had never found her, she had belonged to Avery's brother, James.

Even though it would mean going back to Germany. There was only one bad thing about that: her parents. Hopefully they be going on some sort of excursion with their Berlin Orchestra friends. That would be nice. Really nice. Then she could have away time from 'em.

Oh good she was finally getting up. He had already started to wonder if she'd meant like help him by drawing a 'missing person' poster. Which - now that he got to think of it - wasn't such a bad idea. Huh."Together. You don't know what she looks like." He stated quite bluntly, nodding slowly. So if she thought she'd seen her then she could ask him if it actually was Vanilla. Or somebody else's kneazle.
Made sense, right? Right.
He stared at her for a moment when she smiled at him before stopping to bite his lip for just a second so he could return it. Now back to chewing on his lip. Where to start? Lewis took a small step into the Whomping Willow's direction, not really sure where to go first. "She's uhm...a little chubby." He offered just for the sake of saying something and so he seemed like he knew what he was doing.

Avery mentally slapped herself. "Of course." She laughed a sweet laugh, but inside she felt quite crushed. She really did want to help him, but he didn't seem to appreciate it, or at least..if he did he wasn't showing it.
She looked towards the Whooping Willow and back at the boy. "What's your name by the way?" She asked, she might as well know it so she didn't have to keep referring to him as 'the boy' inside her head. Then she said, "I've been her most of the day and I have seen any cats near here, especially not near that tree." She hoped this helped him in some way.
Forever grateful, he was. Treyen didn't want to keep on thinking about June, even if he was constantly reminded of it. But right now, he didn't feel like keeping that month on his mind, especially since it was April. And his birthday.
So, thank you, Ellie, for not making any further comments.
His smile widened when she spoke next. And that was enough for him. That she believed him, because she should. Believe him, that is. But there was something he disagreed with, shockingly, "Not crazy." At all. And he was sure he could find someone else who thought so too. Except...he didn't feel like searching, nor finding, truth be told.
Well, that made sense, Eliana Stone. As much as he loved books, and reading, he wouldn't spend a whole day in the library. Especially not on days like this one. Perhaps an hour or two, but not the whole day. "I wouldn't do it," he said, shaking his head a bit, "I think," because maybe one day he'll be found in any other library during his birthday. Who knew.
See? She was disagreeing with the blonde thing so much that it was actually amusing. Amusing to him, of course. Though, he understood, because he'd disliked (almost hated) glitter!girl for changing his hair color permanently. Yet it was permanent, in his case. Whilst Ellie could always go back to her natural fiery red. Always.
But..., "Wow." She did it. And...she looked just as beautiful as a blonde. Perhaps even more. Truth be told, even more. Why? Because Treyen was currently blushing, and words were failing him.
FAILING HIM.
So, he cleared his throat and tried his best to speak, "You look...," words should come to his mind, seriously, "...I like how that color looks on you." He nodded, still blushing. But then he shook his head, "I mean, not that I don't like how your red hair looks on you, or looked, or...well, yeah, that." And she made him nervous somehow. "I like you with both." She already knew that, no?
Treyen was still smiling, and still blushing, when he leaned in to kiss her.

Treyen was still smiling, and still blushing, when he leaned in to kiss her.
"Is too." Crazy. VERY crazy. And Treyen wasn't winning this if he was going to keep protesting otherwise. Because Ellie was just going to protest back. But, you know, if it WAS crazy and Treyen was crazy for thinking it, then she very much liked him crazy.
It was a good crazy, anyway. Not a Jacob Blunt crazy.
She nodded in an approving way, that he wouldn't ever spend his birthday in a library...until he continued. In which case, Ellie raised an eyebrow. "I better not hear that you stayed in a library all day next year," she said, before remembering that she decided not to talk about next year or summer anymore.
But she stood by what she said. Because she won't be there to intercept him, or make plans before, so he wouldn't get the chance to put even a toe into the library. It was up to Treyen to make sure he spent his birthday responsibly. By spending it irresponsibly, of course.
Ellie decided to try very hard NOT to accidentally see this blonde hair of hers, by making sure it all sat behind her ears and shoulders. She wasn't liking it already.
Treyen wasn't helping.
"Wow?" WOW?!! Wow WHAT?
She looked....WHAT?! The girl raised an eyebrow at him again and crossed her arms. "You like it?" ONLY like it? Because...his FACE was telling her otherwise. Or something. She wasn't sure. She felt she was getting mixed signals.
'Or...well, yeah, that'????????????????????????????? THAT???????? What the hell is THAT???????????
"That's really not-" FAIR, she was going to say. His lips stopped her.

Logan looked at Cardigan's shirt when she gestured to it, and he smiled. "Yeah it's gonna be wicked!" he said. Then he frowned at what she said. He sighed. "Me neither." he said with a shrug, then he put his arm around her and smiled at her. "Unless we hang out all summer. Then it'll be less boring that it normally is at my place." he said with a grin.
