Not even ten feet away from Mr. Murdoch's hut sits a nice sized vegetable patch surrounded by a white picket fence. Its four rows of vegetable beds are blooming with produce, all according to season of course, and if you're lucky, Waylon may have left the shed in the back open for you to try your own hand at gardening.
Seeds, spades, gloves and anything else you might need can be found inside, just remember to clean up after yourself when you're finished!

Oliver groaned and rolled his eyes as Willy's darts hit him. He was so going to pay for that! He quickly removed the darts and while his two friends were busy arguing with each other on who forgot to who to the party, he pulled out another of his water pistols. Yeah he had brought all four of them.
Enlarging that one as well, Oliver looked up at the sound of William's voice and rolled his eyes again. What was with all this war talk? His friends had issues.
As William fired his darts at him, Olly did his best to duck out of the way but got hit by afew of them. He raised his pitols and pulled the trigger, firing water at both his friends. And where did William think he was going?
"OI!" Oliver could see what he was doing now. "Waylon, protect your ammo." Otherwise that slingshot was going to be useless.
He knew he should have put something other than water in the pistols.

Perhaps he should have went for the garden hose instead?
He didn't even have time to answer his own question, though, because a few things had happened. Remembralls were mentioned, war was declared and.. he was under attack. Arms raising to cover his face from the darts and water being shot at him, Waylon began to blindly head in the direction of his bucket. He may not be able to use his slingshot to hit the both of them, but at that moment, he was willing to forget the thing altogether.
Both his arms worked perfectly fine.
Although, it seemed he wasn't the only one that had that idea. Uncovering his face when he heard Oliver telling him to protect his ammo, he narrowed his eyes at William, just DARING him to try and take the balloons before doing the only thing he could think of to protect them; planking himself right on top of the bucket. "You'll never get them now!"
"Don't listen to him, Waylon----" Willy started to call out, sprinting across the veggie patch now to get to the water bucket before his friend realized what was happening. Oliver's warning was too well-timed, however, as Waylon was suddenly.... lying prone across the bucket....?!
Hold up, hold up, hold up. This pose seemed familiar. William halted as he drew up beside the bucket and tilted his head. "Are you planking.... AGAIN?" he sighed at his friend. "I thought that fad went out of fashion like sixty years ago."
Oh well. There was an easy solution to this one. First, Waylon received a gunload of darts to the bum. Then, hehe, it was out with his wand. "Levicorpus!" Will muttered, flicking it at the prone groundskeeper.
Hehe. Now he had access to all the water balloons he wanted! William smirked across the garden at Oliver and flicked his wand at Waylon again. "Oi Olly, catch!" he called out, sending the levitating man sailing through the air toward his friend. Haaaaha! Hopefully he'd stay airborne long enough for the waterballoons he sent after him to hit their mark...

Sophie finally got to the Vegetable Patch. It was so adorable, even covered up with snow. She pulled her robes closer to her body as she passed the gates. N'aawww! These picket fences were so pretty!
She had been wanting to come see the Patch for a long time, but was always busy with homework and classes that she was only able to visit now! It was alright, though, after all, she still had six terms ahead of her to explore every single part of Hogwarts!

Vickers decided to head towards the vegetable patch, trying to see if he can start his reading for the Nocturnal. He looked up in the sky just as the moon was rising. Eagerly he opened up his book bag and took out the device, then tried to peer into the sight hole for the North star.
He found it after a few minutes, faint but identifiable, but he kept peering out of the sight hole because he had trouble looking for the reference star of the Big dipper. For one thing he wasn’t sure if what he was looking at was an arm of the Big dipper or if its the Small dipper instead.
Leaning against the fence he thought to wait a few minutes when he heard the clock tower sound off for their meals. Well now he knows what time it really was, but it also meant that he wouldn’t be able to complete his homework before dinner. Brain was telling him stay a while longer, tummy was being loud more persuasive.
Quelling a sigh Vickers hurriedly tucked in the nocturnal back into his bag then turned for the castle.

"Phew!" Tayla caught up with Sophie. She liked seeing the puffs of air she was blowing out because of the cold. "I...I like snow!" Tayla said again, not sure whether Sophie had heard her when she ran off from the fourth floor.
Tayla laughed. "That was a long way running!" And it felt good!

Sophie was still catching her breath when she heard Tayla. She turned around smiling. "I love snow! Isn't it great??" She looked at the vegetable patch once more. It was all white and shiny. "It's so pretty!" Sophie admired it just like she had just admired the Tapestry up on the fourth floor. "We should build a snowman!" It's tradition! Every year Sophie had to build a snowman!
Kneeling on the ground, she started playing with the snow, making balls of all sizes and humming Deck the Halls.

Tayla laughed some more then bent down and started making snow balls. "Maybe we can charm the snowman to sing 'Deck the Halls' when we're done," Tayla suggested, although not sure how exactly to do that. Still, she liked the idea.
On a sudden urge, she took a small fist of snow and threw it at Sophie. "A snowball fight would be fun if there were many of us, don't you think?"

Charm the snowman?? "This would be wicked!" A singing and dancing snowman! Hah!
Sophie laughed when she got hit with snow. She had seen it coming. "If there were many of us would be a war!" Taking one of the snowballs she made, Sophie got up and threw it at Tayla. "It takes two to fight!" Saying that, she ran to hide before getting hit again. On her way, she bent down and took some more snow to make another ball and threw it back at Tayla again.
So August needed to find somewhere with enough sunlight so that he could use these sundails in order to find out what time it was. Where could he go? Well that question had an obvious answer....
The Grounds.
After leaving the Castle with the day sundail in his hand, the Gryffindor marched to the vegitable patch where there were no tall trees blocking the bright sunlight coming down from the clear, blue sky--a respite from the wintry weather of the past few days.
Once he had found a clear patch of ground, Auggie sat the instrument on the snow and knelt down out of the way so that it would be hit with the light.

The vegetable patch seemed like a safe place to come and knit. She could sit on a large pumpkin or something and knit at least one sweater...hopefully. The duck pond was her first option, seeing as she was knitting for the ducks, but after having a hippogriff show up last time, well, Kurumi wasn't too optimistic about the whole thing.
Knitting supplies in a small bag held in her right hand, Kurumi made her way to the vegetable patch when she saw August there too. "Hey August," she waved. "Astronomy homework I assume?"

As he looked into the sky again the Gryffindor saw that it would be getting dark soon. Initially one would think that dealing with sundails that would be a bad thing but since he had to test out both a regular one and a nocturnal one he was actually pretty lucky with his choice in the observation time.
Turning his face down to look at the instrument before him he was just beginning to see the shadow forming of the pointy part that would indicate the relative hour that August would have to interprut.

Just as he was leaning in closer to see what time it was, trying a few times before having to move because his head and hair were in the way, he heard a voice and the crunching of snow as he was going to be getting company it seemed.
It was Kurumi, someone he wouldn't mind to have around while doing homework. She could probably helped if he needed her to. "What gave it away, this old thing?" he said with a chuckle. "Yeah, you know the other day after the Astronomy lesson I was like 'Hey, why do I even need a watch with this sort of technology?'. So right now Im just trying to determine if it's time for me to go back inside or not." he joked around with the Prefect.
He wondered what she was doing out here in the cold, well knitting but still.

Kurumi glanced at the horizon and then back at August. "I think the setting sun is enough of an indication that you should be thinking about heading back inside," she laughed. "What time do you have on it?" Not that Kurumi really wanted to know the time to be entirely honest. It was part of his assignment though, telling the time.
Taking out her knitting needles and some red yarn, Kurumi began to wrapped the thread around them and started making the base. A nice tomato red sweater for a very cute brown duck...hopefully it would bring out the color of its dark eyes. Yep.

The light was beginning to fade but there was still just enough to further the shadow being created by the dial. Finally finding a spot where he could see the time without blocking the little sunlight that was left, Auggie scribbled down the time he expected it to be, according to the sundail at least.

"Yes, that works too but I need to use the sundail Kurumi, you are suggesting a form of cheating." He chided as he continued to scribble down his guess and drew a crude diagram of the sundail and the shadow position.
"Well I have six, almost half way 'til seven." That made since, the sun was beginning to set, and with it being winter that happened alot sooner than in the summer. But looking at the shadow on the sundail, it had landed between the marks he had designated for six and seven.

Oh, August was being sarcastic with her! That was sarcasm, right? Kurumi was still pretty terrible at picking up on it - which often caused serious confusion between her and some of her peers. Deciding to simply nod at his wit, Kurumi continued to knit a bit more. "That sounds about right," she nodded. "Hey, do me a favor? Tell me when it is 7:30? Should probably be heading towards the Great Hall for dinner around then."
August was Mr. Timekeeper for now. Working quickly, Kurumi continued to knit a bit more, forming a solid base for the sweater. She forgot how long knitting took to do. Maybe she wouldn't finish one before dinner.

Good.
Kurumi's acceptance of his time decree was good enough to him for agreeing that he must at least be close to an accurate reading. To be sure though, the Gryffindor pulled his watch from his bag, where he had placed it for fear of peeking, and saw that he was indeed relatively correct in his time telling. Sundails really could be used to get a pretty close reading of the time in good sunlight.
"Sure thing, I still need to eat too. Can't go without that now can we?" He said nodding as he searched in his bag for the nocturnal astronomy instrument he had picked up outside of Professor Roslund's office. Once he found it, the fourth year leaned up against one of the large pumpkins and waited for it to get a bit darker, and once he could see some lights coming on up in the Castle up higher behind Kurumi, the Gryffindor decided it was time to get the second reading.
So now he set up the nocturnal sundail and watched the instrument intently as it was sitting there.

Kurumi continued to knit, but was finding it more and more difficult to see what she was doing due to the sun setting. Kurumi glanced up and saw that the sky was now dotted with stars and she sighed. Well, at least she had started on one of her duck sweaters, right? Maybe she could just finish up the rest in the common room. It was a nice distraction from thinking about...well...that...
Kurumi's tummy rumbled a bit and she gave up on knitting anymore, instead settling for putting all her things away. "Must be getting close now, yeah?" she asked hopefully. She was really craving some pumpkin juice and some of those garlic mashed potatoes.

Ignoring the rustling around of his friend close by, Auggie squinted at the instrument he was supposed to be able to read the time from--the only problem was he wasn't 100% sure how it was supposed to work.
Finally he thought he could see what was supposed to be happening and read the time as being a bit past nine. "Nine o'clock!? Kurumi we are late for dinner!"
The Gryffindor quickly jumped up and grabbed all of his things in a hurry before he checked his real watch and saw that it was only 7:45. "Oh sorry, false alarm it's only forty-five after. You ready for dinner?"
