When not in use for games, the Quidditch Pitch is open for students to practice their Quidditch skills before attending team tryouts, and it's also open for students to practice their flying skills (make sure you get a broom from the Broomshed!)
Once the Quidditch season officially begins, team captains can 'book the field' with Professor Vindictus for practice and non-team members can watch practices occur. When practices aren't in session, the pitch is open for flying practice.

Ella smiled at Zhenya happily. "Nice to meet you too! No, I'm not on the quidditch team..." She said, disappointed. The more she talked about it, the more she wished she had tried out. "I'm definitely going to try out next year though!" Yup. Her mind was made up on the matter.

Ella smiled as Logan flew up. She was always a little nervous to carry on conversations when she was flying, not wanting to fall to the ground or anything but she'd chance it for him. "Hey Logan, what's up?"

Ella turned her attention back to Logan and smiled. She looked at him mischievously and before he could react, tapped him on the shoulder saying, "You're it!" Then she was off, leaning forward on her broom to pick up speed.

Zhenya twisted her mouth to the side, thinking about the match. Oh it would be really scary, she knew that past Ravenclaw teams had been good, well of course they were all good. The best 7 players in the house were on the team. But who knew? "I guess... I guess we will find out Saturday. I mean last year we won the cup, but I know there were some really experiences 7th years on the team, but they have left now. Although they too had to train into great players so... I guess we will too?" she said.
SPOILER!!: Ella

Zhenya said "Oh, well... at least it was that you didn't try out! You have all this year to practice your flying skills so I'm sure if... well when you try out next year you will get on. I almost tried out last year but didn't which I regretted, but then having something less to think about let me spend more attention on Homework and trying to remember rules and everything," she said.
Zhenya knew she would be playing against this girl next year. Well, that was if Zhenya got back on the team.

Daisy practically ran onto the pitch, her broom in her hand. She didn't even think about it as she swung a leg over and mounted it, kicking off into the air. She had finally made it into the Quidditch team, and now she had expressed all happiness, it was sinking in that she needed to not only work on her ball skills, but her speed and swerving. Hufflepuff were going to win this year, hands down, and she was gonna put all the practice in. Even if it did mean tiredness, hunger and lower marks in certain subjects. After all, Quidditch was what she did best, and she needed that by far the most for her career.
'WOOOO,' she grinned, doing a couple of fast laps of the pitch. That was another great thing about flying and Quidditch; the views. Especially over the lake and mountains and the forest and the castle.

Yup. Janice is OFFICIALLY happy. First, she made it into the Quidditch team, with other super competitive and extremely good fliers from the Hufflepuff house. Second, err, well, there are no seconds or thirds, but that is sufficient enough to refill her spirit up after she got some minuses. She took her new broomstick down to the pitch, remembering the time when she had bumped into Alyssa, also re-stocking her Quidditch supplies.
Just as she went into the Field, she spotted Daisy, her fellow team member and one of her best friends, already practicing some moves. She waved towards her, mount her broom, and kicked off the ground, which sent her to the air right besides her.
"Hey!" she screamed to overcome the soaring wind. "Mind if I join you?"

'Hi,' Daisy yelled back as Janice caught up with her on her broom. 'Sure you can fly with me,' she grinned, flying at the same rate as her friend. 'I'M SO EXCITED,' she screamed, knowing Janice wouldn't mind and herself not caring about the other people that were probably giving her weird looks...
She zoomed around on her broomstick, the one she had been given as a present from her parents for her birthday. 'I've never asked,' she grinned at Janice, 'what Quidditch team do you support?'

"Me TOO!" Janice screamed in reply. She did the loop-the-loop trick her cousin had shown her earlier this summer, and ended up laughing quite hard. She had never known that screaming in the air is sooo fun.
"Quidditch team?" she repeated. "The Holyhead Harpies, of course!"
Daisy grinned, copying Janice.
'Awesome move!' she yelled.
'REALLY?' Daisy almost fell off her broom in excitement, 'I LOVE THE HARPIES,' she yelled, scaring a couple of passing birds. It was Daisy's ambition to play with the Harpies, who's home was in Wales, like Daisy's. She'd supported them since before she could remember, and her aunt had once played as a beater with them, which was exactly what she herself wanted to do in the future.

Keefer strode out onto the pitch, feeling slightly odd to be here without a practice going on. He needed to get in some Keeping practice, just in case. So far he had been unimpressed with the what he had seen in practices. His plan was to bewitch Quaffles to fly at him, but somehow that didn't seem like it would be satisfactory.
He spotted... Hadley and Romanos? What are they doing here? Well, I guess people don't stop enjoying flying just because they've graduated. He chuckled to himself. Somehow seeing these particular professors in the air was amusing.

He spotted Daisy and Janice. It was refreshing to see some of his team members putting in a little bit of time outside of regularly scheduled practices. "Hey, fancy seeing you two out here! I was actually going to practice my Keeping a bit. If you guys want some goal-shooting practice, I'm sure real life Chasers would be better for me than bewitching Quaffles."
Maybe not better for his pride, but certainly better for improvement's sake.

Daisy grinned and flew over to Keefer. Hufflepuff certainly were keen this year, and ready to win the cup. She didn't see any other houses with such devotion, and although Daisy had never been on the Quidditch team before, she had a great feeling about the matches this year, but would keep her mouth shut, in case something happened and Hufflepuff didn't do too well....
'Hi,' she grinned at Keefer, nodding. 'Yeah, goal-shooting practice would be great fun,' she nodded enthusiastically, 'have you got any quaffles on you?'

"I was just about to go grab one from the locker room. Be right back."
He walked off and out of sight, returning a few minutes later with a Quaffle. He threw it to Daisy. "Catch!"
He mounted his broom and kicked off. After a few laps around the stadium, in which he almost knocked Hadley off her broom, he yelled to Daisy. "I'm going to go cover the goal hoops and you just shoot whenever you're ready."
He swooped high above the field and made his way to the scoring area. He did a loop-the-loop to let off some excitement, then settled in right in front of the hoops, poised to move at the first moment he needed to.

Daisy nodded, and zoomed around on her broom while she waited for Keefer to get a Quaffle. Daisy didn't really know Keefer outside of Quidditch, and although he was a couple of years older, it would be nice to know him, and all of the team better, so they'd work better as a team. Maybe he'd suggest it at sometimes.
Daisy grabbed the Quaffle and placed it under her arm as Keefer flew over to the goals. If he wanted practice, she was going to catch him off guard...
He was good, and concentrated all the time, which made her happy they had as good captain. Finally, Daisy chucked the Quaffle at him as he blinked, knowing she had to throw it sometime.
'CATCH.' She grinned, zooming round on her broom.

Daisy seemed to be stalling on purpose. He didn't like that. It made him edgy. But finally she tossed it, yelling for him to catch it, though Keepers often could only deflect shots. As it raced toward him, he lunged to his right, hands outstretched. To his amazement, he was able to not only prevent the shot from going in, but also catch it.
"I did!" he laughed. "Good one! I am definitely going to improve today, I can tell."

Janice watched Daisy and Keefer as they played catch. Both of them are really good. And looking back, she began to wonder if Keefer chose her to be part of the team simply because she had been in the team last year. A lot of good players went for the try-outs, but only some got in. Maybe, she is that good, only that she had not realized it.
"GO DAISY!" She screamed, still on her broom 20 feet above the ground.

'WOOOO,' Daisy cheered back to Janice, who was below her on the ground, 'GO JANICE, AND KEEFER, AND DAISY,' she giggled, the Quidditch putting her in such a good mood she felt slightly hyper. Janice was probably used to hyperness, but Daisy didn't want to go completly bonkers in front of Keefer, so she shut her mouth and released energy by flying crazily in a loop.
'Yay, you caught it,' she grinned, 'we all are,' Daisy said, turning her head to Janice, 'COME UP HERE AND JOIN IN,' she yelled. It would be harder with three people, but they would manage, and it would definitly be more realistic. Maybe one day she'd meet the whole team on the practice pitch, that'd be awesome, but unlikely.

"OKAY!" Janice answered, giggling. She was feeling particularly high that day, and doing some practice would probably release some of her energy to the air. She caught the Quaffle and slightly closed her eyes, trying to figure out which way she should throw it to score.
"There!" she screamed to Keefer while throwing the Quaffle to the right hoop, hoping that he would catch it.

These girls are crazy!
Well, they were! Both were having a fit of giddiness and flying in tons of loops or circles. What's gotten in to them today?
Then Janice was shooting. He pulled himself out of his revery and shot to his left, but to no avail. The Quaffle went sailing through the hoop unmolested. "Nice one!" He should've been paying a bit more attention.

Daisy clapped Janice for her shot, doing a couple more spins on her broom before hovering in the air. With a wide grin, she pulled a small bottle of Dr Pepper out of her pocket and took a couple of sips.
'WOOOOO. FLYING,' she said, the Dr Pepper her source of energy and hyperness. 'We're not crazy,' she giggled, looking at Keefer and then Janice. 'Anyone want any Dr Pepper? I feel a little too hyper for serious flying now,' she said, looking down at the ground, which was spinning worryingly... 'Maybe I should get off my broom...' she trailed off, her head spinning.

Keefer looked over at Daisy as she began to speak. You know, she does look a bit too hyper... almost worryingly so.
He flew over a little closer to her. As he did so, he noticed that she didn't look so great. Then she began trailing off and saying she should get off her broom. He didn't like where this was heading...
He sped up, arms outstretched, and unholstered his wand. He was afraid she was about to fall. Reaching her, he put his arms around her to steady her. "Let's get you back on the ground right away. Janice, come help me out, here," he said calmly, waiting for Daisy's consent before he began to guide her. "You don't look so good. Do you need the hospital wing?"

Daisy watched Keefer fly towards her, and allowed him to steady her, after all, neither of them wanted her falling off her broom so close to a Quidditch match in case she injured herself and couldn't play; Hufflepuff needed that cup. Daisy nodded slowly, allowing Keefer to help her... Everything seemed to be a bit out of proportion, and spinning slightly.
'Maybe...' she muttered, clutching her stomach in hope she wouldn't be sick in front of everyone. Especially on Keefer or Janice, that would be extremely embarassing... 'If there's a potion, I do feel a bit... ick,' she frowned, closing her eyes and trying to block everything out.

"Okay, let's ease you down slowly." Though he didn't want her to be sick all over him, he was more concerned that she didn't fall and held on tightly. They descended slowly so as not to induce further nausea or dizziness. Finally back on the ground, he wrapped her arm around his shoulder to help steady her. "Easy does it," he said. "One step at a time. We should probably get you up to the hospital wing." He left the broomsticks lying on the pitch, figuring Janice could either put them away or take them back to the common room.
