Default The Pathways

A set of paths link the courtyard to various areas of the grounds. It's nice to walk along either on your own or with a friend. The trees on either side of the path help to create a light atmosphere. So go on, take your time and soak up the fresh air, heaven knows students need it.

"I er...I think so. Yeah I do." Logan said, remembering in Herbology when he used it to put water on his plant. He was terrible at pronouncing spells, but if he needed to know this one he'd try his best. Then he nodded. "Yeah, I get what you mean." Logan replied with a slight nod. Being much taller and fitter than the little Hufflepuff, Oliver lost the girl somewhere on the grounds as he ran towards the pathways. Still, as fit as he was by the time he reached said pathways, he had a stitch in his side and was gasping slightly for breath.

He needed to workout more apparently.

He came skidding to a halt when he saw what the Hufflepuff girl had been talking about. This was one of those times when he needed William or even Waylon would have come in handy at this point in time.

Oliver had really sucked at Care of Magical Creatures.

Spotting the two boys, he made his way over to them. They seemed unharmed which was a good thing he supposed. "You two okay?" He was totally stalling for time here because he had no idea how to stop one of these things.

was all Oakey said to the Gryffindor boy. Keeping his gaze on the Crab-Hybrid Oakey He responded quickly to the younger boy who was now Logan.

I'm fine. Professor... Oakey took his eyes of the creature for a second to see who it was...Jenkins. He lied to the Ancient Runes Professor. He had taken a hard hit to the side from the Crab-Hybrid after the thing decided launching itself with it's farts was easier than running away. He would have been in much worse shape if he hadn't dodged Ella's misguided stupefy. Thank Merlin he was wearing his charmed rabbit's foot and lucky Quidditch goggles today.

What is that crab-thing Professor?
He asked wand still out at the creature.

Ella caught up with the Professor a few minutes after he arrived, breathing quite heavily. "Y-you see? I t-told y-you. T-That thing..." she bent over, grabbing her sides. She hadn't run like that in a long time. "S-sorry Professor just Professor W-Williamson wasn't t-there."

Ella listened to Oakey as he told the Professor he was fine. Fine? Fine?! Had he not just been yelling at Logan and her about finding help and hurrying and all that. He seemed panic stricken then but now he was fine...Here Ella was thinking that weird crab-lobster claw thing was going to eat him or worse, eat him and Logan! She shot him an incredulous look and walked up next to the Professor, looking down at the thing. She reached for Logan's hand once again, trying not to be upset with Oakey and this whole situation.

Right. Well, that was unfortunate. "He likes to bury himself under books and hide in the Common Room." A very silly thing, if you ask her. He should get out more. "Especially with OWLs." Honestly, she was surprised he survived like that at all. "But you could catch him before or after practices." Because as far as she knew, that was the only time Max emerged aside from classes.

.....

He wasn't coming back. That was when Ellie cast around for a bench she could sit on. Alas, there was none in the immediate vicinity, so she dug her fists further into the pockets of his jacket.

She rolled her eyes. "That was the general idea," she muttered more to herself than for Treyen's sake. It was her plan. To go through it slowly, and gradually build speed.

And why did he answer 'no' anyway? She wasn't asking for his permission to do this. Help, perhaps. So maybe he was answering that he wasn't going to help her but...she wanted his help. Of course, she could find someone else she trusted, then. Like Max. But honestly, no offense to Max, but he wasn't Treyen.

Okay...SERIOUSLY? "Walk through it?" He was being completely....ridiculous. She breathed a laugh at the irony of it. How they were just talking about it, and it ended up being the perfect word to describe his current state. Maybe he was right. Maybe she was never the ridiculous one. Treyen was clearly ridiculous enough for the both of them. "What good is that going to do? It wouldn't be anywhere near the same thing." In fact, it might even be counter productive. She might get too used to walking it and be completely disoriented on a broom.

....

Ellie wasn't expecting to hear what had been said next. So basically, she couldn't get someone else to help her, or word would get back to him and then what? THEN WHAT, Treyen? "Or what?" she asked, annoyed at this point. What was SO bad about her trying this? It made SO much sense to go ahead and fly under there while she could control when and how fast and with who.

"Fine," she said, softly but sarcastically, "I'll just go in blind the next match. Cross my fingers and hope for the best." Was THAT what he'd rather?

She rolled her eyes again. More at herself this time. She so desperately wanted him to come back. To take his hand and tell him it wasn't a bad idea. That it made the most sense. That it was going to be fine and increase her chances of being fine in a match. But Ellie wasn't going to be the one approaching him. In case he only backed up further.

Right. He'll keep that in mind, chances are he won't ever have to, but...he knew he had permission, just in case.

Heh. Yeah, Max sounded more like a Ravenclaw than the ones he's known so far. James didn't study that much, and Tiberius wasn't around much to actually notice his behavior around books and such. Though, he liked to study, for sure.

Vashti was the one that most resembled a Ravenclaw. Sort of. Didn't matter. "Well, I'll keep an eye out for him." Just because he liked Max. And the boy was probably another Arrows fan, yes?

Back to the most important part of whatever it was they were doing, whether it was arguing or not, Treyen chuckled once she spoke. Of course. He knew that. It was fairly obvious that she'd want to go full speed once she felt she'd dominated the stands or something.

And...yes. Walk. He got that, by the way, he knew it wasn't the same thing, but he wasn't going to be supportive of this.

What good could come of that? No good was coming out of this discussion either. "None whatsoever. And to me, neither does your proposal." IT DIDN'T. Was it bringing them both joy right now? Not really. Will it help her after Hogwarts Quidditch is over? Not really. Was there a slight chance of her getting hurt? There was always the chance, and he was trying to deal with it.

What? Oh, he finally looked at her. "It wasn't a threat, Eliana! I just don't want to hear about it." Ellie was free to do as she wished, and there was nothing he could do about it, okay? He'll just be terribly upset by knowing she'd been exposing herself to unnecessary risks. And you know what? She didn't get his point of view because she didn't worry when Quidditch came around. Yet Treyen always was.

She should go ask Max. He'll say yes. He'll help her.

Either way, his eyes focused on the snow again, before she said that one last thing. That was...VERY mean of her, if she's ever seen Treyen a little bit angry, then she probably recognized the face, if not...then there's always a first time. What set it apart from a normal frowning face was the fact that his eyes only got lighter in color.

Those same eyes were back on her, only they changed the second her blue eyes were in sight. This was...sad, wasn't it? He wanted to make sure she was alright...but at the same time couldn't bear knowing what she wanted to do. And then she mentioned...crossing her fingers and hope for the best?! This was torture. SHE knew he'll never stop worrying about her, then why do this? Why subject him to this?

"Stop." He said, looking down. He also took one small step towards her, but that was of no importance. "I can't do this anymore."

"Okay.." Logan replied. Oakey. What a cool name. Then, finally, someone came to help.

"Stop." He said, looking down. He also took one small step towards her, but that was of no importance. "I can't do this anymore."

Ellie nodded. It wasn't incredibly important to her if they hung out or whatever. It just seemed natural that they would have found each other's companionship. But...yeah, if Treyen could catch him, or vice versa, or whatever, she was certain they'd get along swimmingly.

His chuckle caused her to tilt her head, skeptically. Did he also realize he was being ridiculous? Finally?

He still seemed to be holding true to this realization when he ADMITTED that walking wouldn't solve anything. Then it was pointless, no? To walk through.

Oh wait. 'Neither does your proposal'. And that meant...? Well, whatever it meant, it wasn't along the lines of him being ridiculous.

Personally, Ellie thought her proposal would do a lot of good. Did it not make perfect sense to try and learn how to perfectly navigate through the support beams below the stands? They weren't ever going to change. She could use what she learned in the next match, and the next, and next term, even.

She flinched at the use of her full name. Way to further instill one of the reasons she hated it being used. Because it was only ever used when someone was angry at her. And frankly, she didn't appreciate it much. But it got her attention.

"Treyen." Yeah, she could use HIS full name, too. Even if she usually always did but STILL. "I would have thought you'd want to be the one to be there." You know, in case anything DID go awry, wouldn't HE want to be there? Or did he trust whoever she was with enough to bury himself away while she was practicing this potentially risky behavior?

While Treyen's eyes roamed Merlin knows where, Ellie kept hers trained on him. So, yes, she saw that flash of anger. And swallowed. For whatever reason, she felt the need to continue. To convince him. Because, really, she'd only feel guilty doing so against his will. The softening of his eyes gave her the extra confidence. "I've been in there loads before. I shouldn't let one incident stop me from doing so again." So help? Please?

Or stop. Fine. Ellie eyed the step he took and wondered if she should match it, but didn't. "Can't do what?" Resist her logic? Because that sounded like an excellent plan to her. To just agree and help her like she wanted him to.

Eyes entirely locked on hers when his name was mentioned. There was something true about her statement, though, he'd want to be with her, yes, but not at the mercy of his heart. He'll even get wrinkles from all the frowning, yes? He opened his mouth, but closed it again.

No comments, apparently.

Ah, but..., "You've been there loads before? Then why bother?" wait, he could explain his reasoning behind the questions, right after he shrugged, "It seems that it doesn't matter how many times you've been there, you still don't know your way inside the stands." When he said it like that...he may be right. Then again, it didn't matter if one knew the structure by perfection, the adrenaline and super speed on game day will probably play tricks on one's mind. So, see? He didn't want her to put herself through this, never mind how much she did.

There HAD to be another way for him to help her. HAD to be. This couldn't be IT.

SIGH.

He couldn't do this. Them. This relationship. He loved her, but Quidditch always managed to put them against each other, and he hated that. He hated not being able to understand her passion completely. He hated that he couldn't fully enjoy a game if she was playing. That's what she loved, and all he loved was her.

She didn't understand either. How he felt.

One more step was given towards her, but that was the last one he'll possibly take. "Us." BUT..., "Arguing." Because THIS was an argument, whether she liked it or not. "I hate it. I don't want to fight with you." Who would want to? Ravenclaws were brilliant when it came to winning arguments, no?

"I'm sorry." He bit his lip and looked away. Feeling oh-so-vulnerable right there. "I just need you to understand my perspective. AND she understood, she was just too stubborn to accept it.

Eyes and tone, everything was softer than before.

Those were fantastic questions. Questions that Ellie had no idea how to respond. Until he continued, that is. Then she was answer ready. "All the times I've been in there, my eyes have been on a Snitch. I wasn't paying attention to the beams aside from avoiding them." Obviously. She'd done a pretty good job of it, too, though. Only that one really bad time. And that other time she scraped her shoulder.

"I just think that if I can go in there at my own pace and like...make some kind of mental map, going through the stands'll become second nature." Basically. She had an analogy, too, though. Wait for it. "Like, remember when you first came to Hogwarts? How the castle was massive and it was so easy to get lost in?" Surely he did. They've all been there. "But you keep exploring and roaming and eventually you learn all the paths you can take. Which tapestries have passages behind them. And which of those result in dead ends. And which stairs to skip." Ellie was a little first year and behind the stands was her Hogwarts. In the analogy. "I just have to explore and then I'll know when beams'll pop up, and how to turn to avoid them."

And then Treyen sighed. And his sighs scared her more than his angry eyes.

She felt defeated, but smiled. She didn't mind their arguing, honestly. But for underlying reasons that Treyen was probably too RIDICULOUS to see. So...whatever. "I'm sorry." For arguing.

He was free to take another step closer. And another. And he should.

Actually, she NEEDED him closer. So Ellie reached out her hand for him. "Come back? Please?"

No, really, he HAD to come. Because ALL BAD THINGS WERE HAPPENING. The sighing was bad, but she could and has dealt with it on several occasions. The lip biting, though, was AWFUL. Ellie'd only seen him do so a couple times and it was HORRIBLE every time. So she needed him.

She wasn't going to say that she understood him. Though she thought she did. "You don't have to apologize."

What is that crab-thing Professor?

Oliver looked at the creature again and rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. WHAT WAS IT??

"Blast-ended skrewt." he announced suddenly. It had just come to him out nowhere and he really hoped that he was right.

Not a Bang-Ended Scoot. Smh. *BURNS* *STINGS* *BITES*

BLOOOOOOOOOOOFT!

The Skrewt was a bit disconcerted to see a big human person pop up beside the other little ones. One of them seemed to be weakening, all out of breath as it was, and the skrewt had the idea to head for that one first. Whenever he came out of hiding, that was, which might not be too soon.

This big human had a bigger wand. The skrewt couldn't hear his firing off spells, but he did feel a slight tingling as they hit his hard shell and bounced off.

Blast! They were trying to attack him! Time to engage the rear.

The skrewt churned his little crab-like legs rapidly, kicking up some dirt in the forest as he prepared to charge. He hoisted his stinger above his head and backed his rear up, getting ready for a fart.

Just you wait, human snacks, YOU WAIT.

Sam shouted pointing the snowball 'cause he felt that Gwen try to run away.He came to the position to attack her back but suddenly he felt a pain grows in his injured leg.Maybe that pain has appeared in his face as well "oh damn it".
Woops. So she missed the target. Time to run, the girl told herself and took a few steps backwards. The girl made another snowball and was about to throw it at Sam, but then she noticed that...he seemed to be… injured? ‘Are you all right?’ It didn’t seem so. Moving quickly over to Sam, Gwen couldn’t figure out what could have caused him that pain. Narrowing her eyes suspiciously, the third year waited for a reply from him.

Hmm. Maybe it was a fracture. Maybe it was an open wound. Or maybe… the last Healing lesson had way too big influence on Gwendolyn. ‘Erm… what happened?’, she asked again and looked at Sam. Really. He definitely wasn’t fine. He was everything but fine. Or so it seemed…

He ran his hand over his face to clean it. "Ah...snow. Wait, try this" he said and got down. Taking some more snow in his hands he threw it on her and smiled.
Yes! Finally someone other than her was hit ‘There you go!’, the Ravenclaw called out and started grinning. His face covered in snow was simply… priceless. Too bad I can’t take a picture of it now. It I probably the thing muggles refer to as ‘a Kodak moment’… Possibly. Although she tried to, Gwen couldn’t help laughing. However, she suddenly stopped. ‘EEeep’ Another snowball coming straight to her.

*Gulp*

Phew. The handful of snow thrown by Zack hit her before she could duck. She had some lousy reflexes sometimes… ‘Ugh… You’, she looked back at him as she made another snowball. The girl threw it, but it didn’t even get close to Zach. Hmph. One more time…, she told herself as she gathered some more snow.

On her way back from visiting the whomping willow, there was a big group standing at the path. They were yelling and blasting and something seemed to be up. I better check it out. She snuck her way through the clump of people and got to the front. IT was a blast ended skrewt! She quickly stepped behind the professer with the other kids. "Id always wondered what skrewts looked like! "And the blasts from the wands seemed to be annoying it. "This things gonna blow!"

As the Skrewt back up some Oakey had an idea! Professor! it's gonna shot itself again! When it does why don't you hit it with some water! It could work right? The Skrewt used it's flame-fart to propel itself forward, so what it they Jenkins dowsed it's rear flame out?

Ella backed away from the skrewt and stood behind the Professor. She was glad she hadn't been too far fetched when she thought of the stunning spell as that was what he was now doing. Of course hers hadn't gone the way it should have-nearly taking Oakey out...good thing he had fast reflexes! Plus, she was sure if Professor Williamson was here he wouldn't be pleased about the stunning. Oh well, she was happy to have an adult here to help.

Ella was nervous as the thing-the skrewt appeared to be eying her. Why was it eying her? Was it going to attack her? She took a few more steps back, wanting to have a good head start if the thing charged. "Er-what is it doing? The-the stinger, sir! He's going to come for us..."

Ella nodded as Oakey gave the Professor Jenkins the water idea. It seemed he had calmed down a bit and she felt her anger fade. They were all against this flame-farting creature after all..."Yeah, I mean it couldn't hurt and maybe it would get scared and just leave!"

Blast ended skrewt? ..........Ohh! Logan remembered reading about that somewhere in a book in the summer....he couldn't remember what though. Logan nodded, and stood behind the Professor, nervously looking over at the blast ended skrewt.

Logan jumped a little as the skrewt kicked up the dirt, and put its stinger above its head. Merlin's Beard, he wasn't really expecting something like this when he decided to go for a walk today! He gulped and moved closer behind the professor, wanting to just take off and run as far away as possible but he couldn't leave, really. Especially since Ella was there.

And which stairs to skip." She wasn't going to say that she understood him. Though she thought she did. "You don't have to apologize."

Was it going to be ANY different the next time? Her eyes will be on the Snitch, he knew how that worked. Honestly. "I'm sure your eyes will still be on the Snitch the next time you play." She won't be eyeing the beams for fun if she manages to get inside the stands again. Ellie wasn't going to convince him with that.

Er, what?

Getting lost at Hogwarts? Was she even serious now? Treyen chuckled, and shook his head pretending to be amused at a very funny joke. "You cannot compare those two experiences." One, brooms were involved. Two, and most importantly, there were no similarities. You got to choose if you wanted to follow the Snitch or not, while at Hogwarts you were forced to wander around searching for a class. Unless you were simply exploring, but still. Different. Ellie wasn't going to convince him with that either. "No, it's not the same."

There was one thing he didn't understand. WELL, besides a lot of other things he couldn't possibly understand, but...why was she smiling? Was this all a joke? Because she must have known what his answer was going to be for this. No?

She was smiling and she was sorry? Those two didn't go together, but he nodded, "You should be." This was probably the first time he's answered something similar to an apology. Was he even accepting it? Nothing was said in regards to that.

Soon enough he noticed how her hand was calling for him. So was she. How could he not return to her? The Head Boy took her hand, after pondering for a few seconds if he should or not. This discussion wasn't over, but he still took her hand in his and he stood in front of her, just as close as they once were.

Oh? He didn't? But she was wrong. "I do. I said I was going to try and deal with Quidditch when it involved you, yet I'm failing at succeeding to do so." It was the hardest thing to do. Granted. And he wanted to be cool with the fact that Quidditch will ALWAYS come first. To Ellie, at least. It was difficult to accept.

SIGH, again.

"What am I going to do with you, Ellie?" he said, stroking her cheek with his free hand.

SIGH, again.

"What am I going to do with you, Ellie?" he said, stroking her cheek with his free hand.

Immediately her lips pressed together, a 'but' oh-so close to slipping out. Except. She was done. And if she took the time to think it out, she'd realize how completely right Treyen was. Even if she thought her little plan was at least worth a try, who's to say it'll have any payoff when it actually counted? So, fine. "Probably," came out through those pressed lips instead of 'but'. Ellie'll agree with him. Fine.

After all, that was a Seeker's job. To keep their eyes on the Snitch. Not where it goes.

His next counter was wrong, though. It was totally the same. It made SENSE. Therefore....it was the same. Not exactly, but that was why it was an analogy, rather than a detailed comparison. But Ellie wasn't going to say anything. She was done arguing her point.

Well, maybe she'll speak up. To surrender. "Okay. I won't do it." Not with Treyen. Not with anyone. But she'd better NOT hesitate if she had to follow the Snitch there next match. Because that was what she kept picturing. A moment's doubt and hesitation. And against that Hufflepuff Seeker, it could cost the match. Which Ellie was not keen on letting happen.

Not having his help in the one area he could participate during practices meant something else that she'd have to accept. They'd both have to accept. "I guess..." It might not be wise to voice this but that occurred to her too late. "I'll be seeing less of you, then. Until the match, at least. Hopefully." Hopefully it'll only last until the match. Though, Ellie had a feeling that was unlikely. That this was the beginning of less time seeing each other for the rest of the term.

Unfortunately.

OH. She SHOULD be sorry. Well, she WAS, okay? So no need to comment, Treyen Lockhart. Yet if he did so to make her feel worse, it worked.

The moment he hesitated was tense for her. With the lip biting and the sighing and the stepping away...he wasn't going to just leave her hanging, right? He wouldn't do that?

No. He didn't. Ellie's entire being, if possible, lit up. And she felt better. Relieved, even, perhaps. She let out a breathy laugh. "I didn't expect that to last, anyway." So he needn't be sorry about it. "I agreed, didn't I? To not concern over you, too?" She was fairly sure that was the agreement. If he wasn't allowed to worry over her, she wasn't allowed to worry over him. "But I did. At the Championship match." When he was run into by the Seekers and fell fifty or whatever feet. "And at this match." So, honestly, he didn't have to be sorry about fretting over possible injuries when she fret just as much. More, if anyone were to ask her.

WHYDIDHESIGHAGAIN?!!

Based on the actions following, though, it was a different kind of sigh....Right? Despite the wintery cold, her cheeks burned the instant she felt Treyen's hand on them. Did he even know how much she loved that?

He asked a fair question and Ellie thought fast to try and answer it correctly. If he even wanted an answer. "Stay." That seemed most appropriate at the moment. After he'd taken steps away, which she'd hated, but came BACK. She didn't want him to hurry to back off again.

Otherwise, she didn't know. She didn't know why he bothered to deal with her sometimes. Ever. He didn't have to. But she was beyond thankful he did.

It might not be wise to voice this but that occurred to her too late.

No. No 'probably' would cut it. She was going to be keeping her eyes on the golden Snitch, not the Bludgers, and certainly not the Quaffle. It was going to be rather hard to be focusing on both the beams and structure of the stands AND the Snitch...because...if you lost sight of the Snitch...then you lost it. Ellie didn't want that, right?

Yet Treyen decided not to say this, instead, he nodded. Eyes on her, all the time.

Oh? He didn't expect that. Ellie saying she wasn't going to venture into the stands. Not for practice, anyway. "Thank you." That was all he could say at the moment, besides kissing her forehead. He could go on and on about how unfair it was to keep his feelings out of this decision, but the point was made, and they'd reached a conclusion, no?

It sounded like she meant it, which was just as important so he could sleep at night.

Less time to spend together. Got it. He could still use that time to study, yet it wouldn't be the same. "I understand." Especially if it meant her practices weren't going to include some recklessness on her behalf. He was slightly relieved, truth be told. It sucked, of course, but he understood she had to focus on her team as well. "I'll miss you." He knew it needed to be done, though.

Ellie didn't expect what to last? The agreement? Okay. He kept on listening until she was done, and granted, he was ready to start talking and tell her that she didn't need to worry about him, even if he didn't believe she truly did, and that things will be perfectly fine with him at the Pitch, but he remembered the one time they discussed this, and he'd be a hypocrite if he brought it up again. She could say the same thing too. "You were concerned?" He was still commenting...and...apologizing. Again. "I'm sorry." Because he'd caused her to worry over him.

Oh, man. She was forever perfect.

Yes, they argued, and he sometimes thought she'll drive him insane, but he still loved her.

Stay? He finally smiled. Not too big of a smile, though, a small one. "I'll stay." Always. Treyen let go of her hand, and her cheek, only to wrap his arms around her again.

See? He wasn't leaving.

"You're welcome." It was not needed. His worry. And if Ellie honestly and truly put herself in his shoes, tried to see things from his perspective, she'd have been just as persistent as Treyen was about it. If he'd lost consciousness EVER doing anything - Quidditch, for argument's sake - she wouldn't EVER let him play Quidditch again. At all.

Treyen, at least, didn't stop her from doing that. It made her wonder, however, if he ever thought about it. But she wouldn't ask. Because if she knew his answer, and if it was anything like hers would be, she'd have to stop playing. Guilt ridden to stay grounded. And Quidditch was too much a part of her for that.

Sure, he understood. It made sense and everything. She had to practice, just as he had to...what? Study? Do his Head Boy thing? Ellie found it hard to comprehend, though. Even if she knew WHY she wouldn't be seeing him, that it was her schedule preventing them from spending time together, it was hard to come to terms with. She hated not seeing him as often as she'd like. She'd miss him to. But it was good practice, wasn't it?

It wasn't until Treyen's arms were around her, and she'd successfully buried her face into his shoulder, that she regretted her answer. Completely. She could have said ANYTHING. Like...that he was going to walk with her back to the castle. That they were going to find something to occupy them for the rest of the day. But no...she said 'STAY'. One word that made her think of things she didn't want to think about. The 'I'll miss you' from before, and subsequent thoughts, didn't help.

So Ellie quickly changed the unspoken subject to something happy. Or something neither here nor there. Like relaying a message. "Eve said 'hi'," she informed his shoulder, because she didn't bother to lift her head. And good luck getting her to.

WHAT IN MERLINS NAME WAS IT DOING??

For a second there Oliver had thought that the Skrewt was gonna make a run for it, especially after seeing its little legs start moving but it didn't go anywhere.

Instead the stinger went up in the air and ohhhhh CRAP! Now Oliver had an idea what it was going to do.

SPOILER!!: The Kids

As the Skrewt back up some Oakey had an idea! Professor! it's gonna shot itself again! When it does why don't you hit it with some water! It could work right? The Skrewt used it's flame-fart to propel itself forward, so what it they Jenkins dowsed it's rear flame out?

It didn't take a genius to work out that the stunners he was firing at the Skrewt were not making any impact at all and Olly was wracking his brain trying to remember how to deal with these things.

Merlin he wished William was here!

And the kids behind him certainly weren't helping. Oliver glanced at the Slytherin who had just walked up and raised his eyebrows. "Ya think?" And he was just going to stand there and watch, was he?

Oliver was not sure about Oakey's idea but quite frankly it couldn't hurt and it could cause a distraction so that he could get a little closer because he just remembered that for any spell to have effect, he would need to get at its fleshy belly.

"Alright this is what we're gonna do. You four..." he turned slightly to look at the youngsters and sincerely wished that he had kids with a little more experience..."cast the water charm at the Skrewt's stingers while I try and get underneath it."

He glanced at Ella and really wished that she had found one of the other Professor's. He was so not in the mood to have any part of his body burned. "You all ready?"

It looked like these people needed some more help.
what it aquamenti would only last for one blast though and it would only make it angrier. And if the water idea doesnt work, we could say diffindo to put the flame out or maybe it will make the skrewt smaller. Or we could cast immobulus so you could get underneath it more easily.
Olivia positioned herself and aimed her wand at the skrewt Ready when you are

It was very likely that Ellie had no idea how much it meant to him that she'd backed out of her brilliant idea...as long as she kept her word...

...also, he would've asked her to 'promise' it, but he trusted her. No need to do that, then.

Would he grow accustomed to deal with this Quidditch thing? Eventually? There will probably be a time in which he couldn't do this anymore, and it was a terrifying thought. Terrifying because he didn't see himself without Ellie right now, but maybe...over time...

...he'd rather not think about it, though.

For now, he'll enjoy the little time they still had left. Today, at least. "You know, we could still practice together, the two of us. I don't think Keefer will be opposed to that." Unless Treyen decided to practice with the Ravenclaw team in its entirety.

Okay, you know what? It was proving difficult to hear her, but that wasn't such a big deal. He'd much rather look into her eyes, truth be told. Was there something else wrong? That he wasn't aware of?

Wait, she said Eve? As in Evelyn? As in the Hufflepuff girl that was born the same day as him? "Evelyn? The sixth year Hufflepuff?" why would she say 'hi'? Actually, why would she tell his girlfriend to say that she said 'hi'? "She was at the game?" the girl liked Quidditch, even if she didn't play it.

Why had she thought of her in the first place?
