The Pathways

A set of paths link the courtyard to various areas of the grounds. It's nice to walk along either on your own or with a friend. The trees on either side of the path help to create a light atmosphere. So go on, take your time and soak up the fresh air, heaven knows students need it.

Pfft..Why was she here?

Err..perhaps to reminisce on her first year at Hogwarts? Maybe. That pretty much was it, this place held a few significant memories during her first year at the school and right now she just wanted to remember those memories.

"'Cause if there's a chance we might've missed. And if there's a ray of light in this.." Beezus sang softly as she walked.

"Erin might appear today!" Erin surprised her bestfriend. And Beezus was actually chanting the right words. The memories. The first year memories. The happy times towards the Gazebo. The dance. Beezus refusing to join the dance class. It was all swirling, like she was in the Pensieve Scott once told her about, the one at Headmaster Tate's office. That was the real magic. Memories were precious.

"We're second years now," Erin said in delight but with so much worry and loneliness too. They were moving forward, great! "You didn't wait for me last night. I told you to stay up," mocked Erin.

Laura walked along the pathways. This was gonna be her first year in this school.She had both wonderful and not-so wonderful encounters with people. She was thinking about all that.It was then that she noticed one of the girls whom she had met at the start-of-term feast over there. She smiled at her and mouthed a 'hi'

"La la la la la la"

Katie sung as she skipped along the pathways, she had missed this place, though it wasn't much it just seemed so awesome this place. She could skip around all day there just going LA LA LA as she did, that was the life-

BAM!

Katie stumbled backwards as she banged into someone, "oops" Katie said to herself "I"M SORRY! PLEASE TELL ME YOUR ALRIGHT DO YOU NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL WING?" Katie said overacting, of course the girl was okay right? She had to be, otherwise Katie would feel so bad and would never forgive herself.

Woosh.

Beezus almost lost her balance when Erin came in and surprised her.. "Just what's with the surprise thing?" She lost her concentration that now she couldn't even remember what song she was singing. This girl, pffft... But Beezus sure was very happy to see her.

"Yeah. Time sure flies fast, don't you think?" Of course that would be answered by a yes, ought to be. The first time she step foot on Hogwarts was like just yesterday and now she was back for her second term. Then, off to their supposed to be conversation last night. "I'm sorry.. Aurora dragged me somewhere and I guess I got really tired after talking to her.." She admitted, with her puppy dog eyes.

Oh! She was doing what again?

"Are you singing?" Erin was sure, Beezus got some tune in that one. A Muggle song perhaps? Wasn't that a made-up chant? "I love surprises! And I am in a good mood today. Hogwarts is happiness!" she said twirling and smelling the fresh scent of the trees. De javu? Didn't she already do it before? With Beezus as well?

"I will definitely miss the hard to understand Professor, won't you?" she smiled at her friend. Even if Erin was lagging in his classes, she still learned a lot from him and he did quite leave a legacy. Erin needed to listen hard so that she could catch up with the lesson. "Admit it. He's one of your favorite professors after all!" And the talk they should be having last night, "Aurora? The Slytherin? Not our Aurora."

"You bet I was." She replied proudly.If truth be told, Beezus was a way better singer than a dancer. She had two left feet. "Just why is Hogwarts happiness?" She looked at her best friend while she narrowed her eyes. Sure, Hogwarts was their second home but it feels like there was more to it just being their home. Something happened that caused her friend to act this way, the complete opposite of how the girl acted yesterday.

What? Hard to understand Professor?

..... ...... ........ ............. Oh! Him.. That Tristan Christiansen! She remembered. "Yeah, I would. He was not really one of my favorites but I always felt comfortable with him and he was always helping me too even if I couldn't understand him quite well." That man sure did became a second father to her, he always did guide her during his classes. "Yeah. Aurora..the Slytherin.." She answered as she nodded. Our Aurora? She wondered what Erin meant by that.

"Did you somehow compose that or something?" asked Erin. Because she swore to God, it seemed familiar yet unknown. It must be a made-up chant fitted into an already available tune. And why would Beezus ask something about happiness in Hogwarts. "I'm just happy. That's all." Memories again. This was the very place, Erin and Beezus exchange their family stories together. The deaths. The problems. That may be the start of their great friendship. Erin could say, Beezus was one of those people who she would fight for.

"Aurora. Is she somehow inclined to Mordred?" asked Erin pretending to be serious but she was actually in a goofy mood...AGAIN. Erin didn't knew Aurora personally but she was sure, she and Beezus had a very special friendship. So, she should meet her soon enough. A year could be spent for finding the right time.

Compose? Oh, she was good at singing.. But composing, nuh-uh. "No, of course not. It's a song from centuries back." Yeah, centuries ago. "If I'm not mistaken, around year 2011..I dunno, it was sung by the Saturdays.." She didn't know how her grandmother had a copy of the song when it was popularized a very long time ago. Probably used magic. Now to the happiness part. "Hmmm..." She looked at Erin suspiciously. "I'll let you go this time. But tonight, you have to tell me about that thing which is bothering you." Beezus demanded.

...They were talking about Mordred again. Sigh....

"She is. They're best friends." Beezus answered casually. She knew what was swirling inside Erin's head and she knew where the current conversation would take them so she decided to change the subject immediately.. "By the way, have you seen Daichi?" And why was that the alternative topic that popped out from her mind?

Salima walked out of the castle passing thought the pathways towards the lake. She needed to clear her mind and be alone...

"Oh! I see." Erin would never know that then. She was never an ancient song lover. "I prohibit you to sing that again. You can try The Sundays. They're so popular at this era," Erin nodded towards her friend. She should try to be more active in her era. Duh? Live your life Beezus.

Tonight, let it be Erin. "Yeah. I needed to talk to you anyways." She snorted.

Beezus was avoiding the Mordred topic again. "Daichi? Isn't he with Jonathan Kim all the time?" Erin was a STALKER, hello? "Why talk about Daichi? Is he..?" Erin gave Beezus a stare that would most likely melt the girl.

It was a beautiful day outside, and for a change Renesmee was in a fairly good mood. Back in the Hufflepuff common room it was crowded and boring. There were better things to do than sit in the common room the whole day, like exploring the castle. The grounds at Hogwarts were really beautiful, and there was always something new to see and explore, even for the people that thought they had seen everything.

Being the nice pet owner she was, Nessie took Puffles with her for a walk. She knew he'd loose his mind if he stayed in the common room the whole day, and so she was kind enough to let the pygmy puff join her. There wasn't anywhere particular she wanted to go, she just walked and walked. It was probably the last few weeks of warm weather as the winter was near by and Nessie didn't like the cold, she preferred the warm weather which was why she enjoyed it whilst she could.

The little indigo pygmy puff walked beside her. He seemed to be all happy, as he ran along and played with himself and for once he wasn't being such a nuisance...or at least she thought he wasn't. She took her eyes off him for not even a minute and when she looked back he had disappeared again. He always did this to her, she hated it and she honestly didn't feel like playing hiding seek with her pygmy puff. "Puffles? Where did you go now?" It was worth a try, but he didn't respond. She bit her lip and started searching for him, she didn't have much of a choice.

Laura was lost in thoughts when she suddenly felt someone bang into her. She almost fell down but managed to stop in time. 'Oh!!Thank god!..' she remarked.

The girl was looking very apologetic.She smiled at her..'Hey..I'm alright..don't be so sorry,' she joked

"A-are you sure your alright?" Katie asked, "You didn't break any bones?" Katie added, she was being a nervous nelly at the moment, she was just worried she had hurt the girl, Katie smiled at the girl as she circled her to see if she was fine.

"I'm Katelyn by the way"

Prohibit her to sing that song? NOO! She loved that song. "Erin, that's one of my favourite songs you know..I'll just avoid singing it in front of you." Okay, cool? "The Sundays? Does that group even exist?" She asked her best friend with one raised eyebrow. Surely she was just mocking her since she said that that song was sung by the Saturdays so Erin immediately came up with the Sundays.

Yes, tonight. She was getting curious more and more.

And another brow raise. "You know Jonathan Kim?" She asked. Something sounds a bit fishy. "I don't know if they're always together.." She really did not know, after all she just knew about this Jonathan through Kurumi. "Huh? Is he what?" Beezus inquired when Erin asked about Daichi. By the looks of it, Erin was already concluding something in her own mind.

There. He'd signed up for Quidditch and all he needed to do was wait for Keefer to let them know when they'll be needed at the Pitch. Granted, he felt the need to be there at the Pitch for a little while.

Yet the Head Boy couldn't be taking today off. Classes had started, after all, and he'd failed to study over summer break, so he still needed to begin his study for NEWTs, that's why he was walking all the way up to the Castle. Whistling from time to time...and understanding why Rufus loves Hogwarts so much.

Why exactly he had signed up for the Quidditch team Lewis didn't know. Well, he DID know but he didn't know why his normally quite reasonable brain hadn't stopped him from actually SIGNING UP FOR THE QUIDDITCH TEAM! What was he trying to achieve with that? It wouldn't change anything. Not that he had any real chance of actually making it on the the team.

Already almost back inside the castle, Lewis heard somebody whisteling to themselves behind him and automatically turned around. Was that...Squint! Yes, it was. The badge on the front of his robes was unmistakably that of the Head Boy. Maybe he could finally tell him who their Head of House was. And who he was.

Taking a step back, away from the approaching boy, Lewis took a deep breath and said quietly, "Hello!" There. That seemed like a good start.

Treyen noticed. The step. This wasn't the red carpet, though, the boy could still keep on walking wherever he was headed, which had to be the castle, right? There was no other place this path lead to, unless you starting walking away from it.

Blink.

It was a fellow Hufflepuff! Old one too. How come Treyen's never seen him before?

The Head Boy smiled, "Hi there. It's kind of a nice day, isn't it?" as far as cold days went. He stopped in front of him, "You're new to Hogwarts, aren't you?" it was best to ask than to just assume.

Helga strolled along the pathways, not many people talked to her, she had to start the conversations normally, Helga sighed. Being alone stunk!

Laura smiled at the girl as she circled around her. 'Nice to meet you Katie.I think I'll call you that...I'm Laura..Laura Granger, second year..,' she said 'I'm alright, thanks!!'



As Laura looked around she spotted a girl who seemed quite lonely.She hated to see people lonely. 'Holla!!,' she called out.

He was starting to become REALLY good at this conversation thing, wasn't he? Initiating one too. His parents would be so proud. There were people talking to him. And they were nice too. At least the Head Boy seemed nice.

Oh. Smalltalk. Lewis still needed to get a little practice there but he would just answer the questions asked. Should be sufficient for now. "Mhm. It is." For emphasis he pointedly looked around the grounds and up into the sky. ...was it okay if he looked away again now? Had it been long enough?

"I am. Yes." He answered, finally looking back down and at the Head Boy, nodding. "You're the Head Boy aren't you?" Lewis had found that the most important part about smalltalk was pointing out the obvious so, there. And then because it seemed like a nice thing to add, he continued, "Congrats on that, by the way." Compliment other person: Check.

It was times like these that Tom really missed his dog. He would have loved exploring these beautiful grounds with her at his side. She would have loved it too. She really was the lad's best friend: loyal, loving and never judgemental. The pair were inseparable when Tom was at home. ..But even though students were allowed a pet, his ma had said Diego was now too big to keep with him in his dorm. And Tom supposed he agreed, but it still pulled at his heart when he thought about her.

He rounded a corner and spotted someone up ahead. He slowed his pace as she spoke. It was Nessie. What was she doing?

“Ness?” He said as he got closer, looking at the girl curiously. “Wotcha doin'? You lost somefin'?”

Meh! Stupid pygmy puff! He always had to play these silly games with her. It really got annoying at times and it usually made her go all moody. Sighing she continued calling out for him and searching. After a few moments she heard a very familiar voice. It was Tom, she'd recognize his voice anywhere especially because of his adorable accent. She sort of hoped that when she turned to face him, he'd be holding Puffles, but when she did, there was no Puffles.

"Erm..yeah I'm actually looking for Puffles..." Tom did know who Puffles was right? "My..erm..pygmy puff." she added just incase he didn't. Her lips went into a pout as she tried to think of where the pygmy puff could have gone to. "I hate it when he does this, its like he runs away from me because he hates me." Now her pouting lips turned into a frown.

To be honest, she didn't blame the puff ball, for hating her. She didn't think she was that much of an exciting person to hang around with all day and she didn't really understand animals.

Matt strolled along the pathways, grinning, with his rat asleep in his pocket. Suddenly, Romeo jumped out, running away. The second-year really needed to train this rat. Luckily it was tired and pretty slow, but it didn't stop the furry creature crawling under a first-year's leg. Hopefully, she wouldn't be all terrified of them, like some idiots were. Matthew ran towards the girl. "Sorry," he apologised for what he was about to say. "There's a rat crawling round your leg. I'm very sorry. He hopped out of my pocket. I'm Matthew, by the way."
