One of the first things you will notice when you enter Professor Bentley’s office is the aroma, the air is filled with the sweet scent of peppermint tea and flowers. Oh no, you won’t find trowels, dragon dung or dirt in this room, everything is presented in a neat and orderly fashion. The office is decorated in earthy brown tones with hints of pink, green and yellow making the room feel very homey. In summer a light breeze will be drifting through an open window, whereas in the cooler months a fire will be roaring in the open grate fireplace. Behind Professor Bentley’s desk on wall by the window is a large cork board. On this board you will see a collection of photographs of family and friends as well as the occasional note about classes or homework. A new addition to this collection of momentos includes a new photograph, taken just this summer whilst on a trip to Italy. If you look close enough, you might recognise the other person in the photo as Professor Hadley, your Arithmancy Professor. So feel free to come in and take a seat on one of the plush and comfy stools- mind of course you have permission to enter. Don't worry too much about the small bundle of fluff that flits in and out of the room, or lounges at your feet, Caltex doesn't bite. Just be sure your laces are tied, otherwise you might find you wont have any left by the time you leave.
And be careful as you enter... the potted Fanged Geraniums by the door like to play occasionally.
OOC: Please do not post in here until your character has been invited in. To be invited in first please post your character arriving at, and knocking on the door to Professor Bentley's office. Do this in the Outside Professor Bentley's Office (KNOCK HERE) thread.
Ira walked in behind Professor Bentley into her office. This was the first time she had visited a professor in his or her office. So Ira was feeling quite uncomfortable and nervous too.
"Good Morning... professor" Ira greeted as she entered the door. Then she figured that it would be better if she just completed what she wanted to do and then get out of here fast! She removed her golden-wrapped gift from her bag, and said, "Professor Bentley, I made a photo frame for you.."
Bentley has a drop kick dog...Aron doesn't approve XD

But soon there was another knocking. Whoever it was... it was either urgent, or they were simply impatient. "Coming, coming!" she called out, trying to side step Caltex who seemed to think they were playing some sort of game. In the end Seren bent down and scooped the pup into her arms, he could do less damage there, and at this rate he was going to get on the geraniums nerves again.
Finally, she reached the door and pulled it back on it's hinges. "Oh.. Kurumi, so good to...." ... wait, what was that?!
Seren starred down at the pot of beautiful roses on her doormat. "Did you bring these?" she asked her Prefect. She set Caltex on the floor again, nudging him back into her office gently with her foot. Pup vs plants... it was a tough one. But the plant was in her good books right now.
"Please come in, what can I do for you?"
When the door swung open, Kurumi's gaze instantly fell on the Pomeranian in the Herbology professor's arms. "OH MY GOSH HE IS SO CUTE!" Kurumi squealed, bouncing up and down for just a moment before remembering that she had a slightly frightening plant in her arms. The bag shook a bit and some of its leafy bits creeped out from under the paper bag. Oops. It was awake.
Kurumi stepped into the office as Professor Bentley picked up the pot. "It wasn't me, professor," Kurumi replied shaking her head. Besides baked goods, Kurumi wasn't the sort to really give gifts to professors. Besides, the cookie giving was part of her upbringing. One HAD to bring a gift because it is considered proper etiquette. "I think I may have an idea though." If Jezz running away from her office was any indication.
Kurumi too a seat in one of the chair, set the potted plant on her lap, and looked up at Professor Bentley. "There are actually two things," she said, glancing down at the plant. "One...is him." Which would need a little more explaining. "And the other is...to ask permission to perhaps, um, wear a surgical mask during your lessons...especially those where we will be handling plants that have a lot of pollen..."

"I actually made it for my mum, but then I thought about making an identical one for you too!" Sophie handed the frame to Professor Bentley. "I thought you might like it, if you're anything like my mum." she said happily.
"This is a giant ivy. This up here is a flesh eating plant. And these are just regular daisies." She pointed at the thingies in the frame as she explained. "I wish I could make them move, but I don't know any spells to do that... do you, Professor?" she asked looking up at the witch again.
Seren listened avidly as Sophie explained what she had to do for her transfiguration homework, and quite frankly, Seren rather liked the sound of it. Picture frames! .. you really could never have enough of them.
"Oh it's beautiful Sophie, thank you so much for thinking of me... it's rather sweet of you." Badgers, weren't they all lovely and sweet? Well they were if Sophie was anything to go by. She accepted the gift graciously, already trying to figure out which picture to place in it.
As for making them move... "Uhh yeah charms was never really my strongest subject, I'm more of a hands on, down and dirty type of witch. Though I'm sure Professor Schirmer would be able to help you out."
It was probably safer to ask a Charms professor for help with charms... as opposed to a herbologist. Her own knowledge in charms was limited to things which helped plants grow... mm..

"Oh, thank you dear," she said smiling, sitting on the corner of her desk to unwrap it. ".. you really shouldn't have though." Even after two years of teaching at Hogwarts, Seren hadn't quite gotten used to accepting gifts from students... it was just strange.
But alas, her smile grew a little as she looked down at the beautiful teal and gold picture frame. "Ohh thank you Ira, it's lovely."

Hhhmm so it wasn't Kurumi.. oh well, whoever it was, did a lovely thing--surprising her like this. Admiring the colours, Seren placed the pot on the cabinet beside her window for the time being... she would have to find a suitable spot for it.
Turning to give Kurumi her full attention. Him? ... surgical mask? ..

Interesting.
Seren blinked a few times, lips pursed. "Well certainly you may wear a surgical mask... should you choose to do so. Though if you have allergies I'm sure Healer Tillstorm can help you out." After all, allergies could be easily managed.
Now... him? "So.. um, what's the problem with... him?"

As for the breaking couples up thing... well that was a little intense. "Well.. if I may offer you some advice," she started, not really sure where she was going with this. "Miss Hollingberry is a very bright and strong willed young lady.. you'd do well to leave her be." Sure Kurumi looked all innocent and sweet on the outside with her delicious baked goods, the girl was probably a force to be reckoned with should it come to that. "Just keep things professional." The last thing she wanted was to have her two prefects sitting in the Lovers Lair having to explain some awkward and horrific incident...
No... that wouldn't be good at all.
Yep. Her reaction was one Adam could believe. An now, his Professor, his head of house knew their 'friendship'.
Adam nodded as Bently told him to stay away from Kurumi's personal life. Something everyone told him. Hopefully, so far at least, he had not done anything to her, this would be his redeeming year. They had certainly kept it professional so far, even when Adam an Kurumi talked about he being a prefect, nothing got out of control. "Don't worry Professor. For me, I've done better this year. I haven't argued with anyone at all. Perhaps it is my turning around year." He spoke up the last bit more to himself. Standing up Adam grabbed his bag an placed it onto his shoulder. Adam didn't want his Professor to get too involved with his an Kurumi's 'friendship' he just thought it prudent she know the jest of information, in case she needed to put judgement on anything.
"Thanks, Professor. I think I'll be heading out now, I don't think you want to hear my full history here at Hogwarts. Besides, your other students must be growing impatient." An with that goodbye he headed out the door an opened it an left the room.
Seren listened avidly as Sophie explained what she had to do for her transfiguration homework, and quite frankly, Seren rather liked the sound of it. Picture frames! .. you really could never have enough of them.

Sophie's eyes smiled when Professor Bentley held the picture frame and complimented it. "You're very welcome, Professor. I'm glad you like it!"
She listened as the older witch said she wasn't good with charms. She giggled. It was nice to know that professors weren't good at everything they did either. "It's okay, I was going to ask Professor Schirmer, but then I thought you might know a spell or something." She finally closed her bag. "I'll go ask her! Then I can come back and try to make them move for you, if you want!" Sophie loved learning new spells and seemed to be good at it. It would be nice if she could make the fake plants in the frame move!

Naawww, wasn't that just the sweetest thing! Seren felt her cheeks grow a little warm, no doubt becoming a little pink at Ira's comment.
"Well thank you, it's a lovely gesture.... and uhh of course you may go to class, I'd hate for you to get into trouble. Enjoy the rest of your day," she said smiling. Obviously Lions getting to class on time was a priority. The last thing she wanted to hear was that her students were being tardy. ".. and thank you. Hopefully it'll be a good term."

His redeeming year? Well certainly prefecthood had that effect on some, and it was good to know Adam was one of them. "Good, there's no better time to turn a new leaf than the present."
With a quick glance to her office door, Seren heaved a light sigh. It was that time of year again, when throngs of students came and went.. and right now they were coming more often. "Yes... thank you for stopping by. I'm sure I'll be seeing you soon, and good luck with your classes now that you're back."

It was a relief to see that Sophie wasn't disappointed at her lack of charming skills, but it was always better to ask an expert in the field. She wouldn't expect anyone to go to Dash for help with Herbology for example. Now THAT would be a disaster in the making.
Pulling herself away from the amusing thought of Dash floundering with a Peruvian Flying Fern, Seren offered Sophie a bright smile. "Sounds brilliant, I look forward to hearing how it went, you're more than welcome to stop by again at anytime." Because a moving picture frame would be just that little bit cooler, and Seren liked to think she was 'cool'.

"Perhaps...you have a secret admirer, professor," Kurumi said with a small shrug. If Professor Schirmer had received a letter, it was very possible that someone would deliver her flowers. Although, Kurumi was pretty sure that Jezz had been the one to set those flowers there.
"I am sure he is more behaved than Walnut," Kurumi laughed nervously. That shouldn't be too hard to do. Surely Professor Bentley's dog hadn't attempted to pee on the Headmaster, right?
*blink blink* Talk to...the Healer? Kurumi would rather spend the entire day with Dragon Lady. That woman did not like her...at all...and Kurumi had no idea what she had even done. "Thank you," Kurumi said with a small head bow. "They are only just developing and, at least for now, I would rather do what I can without medicine or potions." Keep things natural and all that. And...on that note... "Your next lesson...does it involve flowers or pollen of any sort?" Like...exploding puffapods or anything?
Slowly, Kurumi removed the paper bag from on top of Xavier and flinched a bit as he recoiled in the light. "I...don't think I can keep him in Gryffindor Tower anymore, professor. He...ripped all the fur out of Walnut's tail." And tried to devour several bugs and DID eat a mouse...

A secret admirer? ... "Oh heavens no... that's... not possible." Surely. Just the very idea of there being a secret admirer, within the school made her feel uneasy. Not because it would be so bad, per se, but simply because it would be weird and awkward.
"Developing or not, I'd still suggest looking into it."
Because allergies could severely hinder ones progress in Herbology, should they let it. Greenhouses weren't exactly the most comfortable places for people who suffered from allergies, the humidy, warmth.. mingling with the pollen and spores. Mm.. recipe for madness if you ask her. "Well pollen won't be an issue given the current season, but that's not to say there won't be traces of it, and spores are usually always present." So in other words. No, no flowers, but yes to allergens. Good times.
Ahh, now this was something she knew, and knew quite well. Seren inspected the fine little specimen, he was growing quite nicely, and certainly had a charm about him. "Ahh.... well, yes. I wouldn't suggest keeping him in the tower either, once he grows some more he might attempt to snack on a first year instead of your cat." More meat on first years.. cats were too hairy and bony. "It's a Bloody-Red Rose.. a flesh eating shrub.. they are very active flesh-eaters, and are not afraid to hunt for prey. I'd suggest taking him to greenhouse one. He's dangerous, but not too dangerous, not to mention he's probably been desensitised to human contact."
"I'll see to it that he gets an adequate diet of course." Meat scraps in this school were not difficult to come by, and it helped that plants of this nature usually didn't feed on a regular basis.

Waful flew across the grounds silently towards the greenhouses. The same couldn't be said for his companion. The other obviously less awesome owl was flying noisily and the snowy owl couldn't be ready for the packaged to be delivered so he could be rid of the bird.
"Hoo."
When he spotted the woman they were delivering their package too, he glided down at what felt like snails pace to the graceful creatures. And Waful gave to other owl what could be considered an annoyed glance. He flew into the window, leaving the other silly creature on the outside while the carefully placed the large package on the windowsill.
He then proceeded to fly back out the window without waiting for a treat or pats from the humans in the building, attempting to shake the other bird so that he could do some hunting.

SPOILER!!: Letter and Package
The letter is attached to a rather large, heavy package.
As quickly as they had arrived, they were gone again. Seren had watched curiously as two owls arrived, leaving a package on her windowsill. Was that for her?
Slowly standing, she made her way over and detached the letter from the package. It appeared as though she had mail... and she had her suspicions as to whom it was from.
Opening the letter, Seren read the few short words and smiled to herself, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink in the process.
Resisting the urge to giggle, Seren picked up the heavy package and gently took it back to her desk. That goofy smile still lighting up her face.
What was inside?!
Untying the brown string and pulling away the drab brown packaging paper, she soon revealed a beautiful pot of white carnations. Pulling her fist to her mouth in an attempt to hide the even bigger grin that appeared, Seren felt her cheeks grow warmer, no doubt turning a few shades darker. Merlin that man knew how to get to her.
Flowers have a language of their own, so I will let these speak for me.
Well they most certainly did.
After clearing her throat nervously, Seren folded the letter and placed it in her top drawer for safe keeping. She had a feeling she would be holding onto it for a while. But now... she had an idea... a way to return the gesture.
"Goodbye dear," she replied with a small wave and a big smile.
A secret admirer? ... "Oh heavens no... that's... not possible." Surely. Just the very idea of there being a secret admirer, within the school made her feel uneasy. Not because it would be so bad, per se, but simply because it would be weird and awkward.

"I'll see to it that he gets an adequate diet of course." Meat scraps in this school were not difficult to come by, and it helped that plants of this nature usually didn't feed on a regular basis.
Seren smiled and bowed her head in greeting as Ryan entered her office. Oh bless, was he asking for permission to use the greenhouses?! "Of course you can dear, the greenhouses and student garden are there for you to use as you please, just be sure to clean up after yourself when you're done."
''Ah Thanks Professor.''He said smiling when she said that.''Well I'll head over there as soon as I get the chance.''He said rising from his seat and said''Well good Day Professor and Look forward to seeing you soon.''He said giving her a friendly wave.

Pushing the thought of an alleged secret admirer out of her mind, and instead nodding at what Professor Bentley had to say about the allergies. With the potion they had brewed with Professor Lafay, Kurumi could be cured for an entire year...but Kurumi had a hard time accepting things from that woman. Her overly cheerful mood sort of had her freaked out as well. Kurumi didn't say anything, but she did nod to acknowledge that she was listening.
In the next moment, Kurumi's jaw dropped and she looked back and forth between Professor Bentley and Xavier. "A...Bloody-Red Rose?" she managed to squeak. Weren't those...one of the more dangerous of flesh eating plants?! Merlin, no wonder Walnut hadn't taken to the plant. The feline had tried to pee on it once...and that had NOT ended well at all. Still, Professor Bentley said he was still dangerous, and probably not something that a fifth year like her should just jump in and replant without supervision of some sort...right? "So, I should...replant him there?" Kurumi asked, looking for confirmation. "How does one do that?" Kurumi slowly reached for her bag on the ground to take out some parchment for notes if needed.

"Not a problem, see you later," she replied with a small wave, watching as Ryan left the office.

Watching the expressions on Kurumi's face change, she couldn't help but smile. After all, flesh-eating plants were kind of her thing, of course she could understand that most others were... not so taken with the darlings.
"Yep.. oh well it's not too hard. It's the same as if you were planting a flutterby bush... though you might want diced meat scraps to distract it while you do so. I'd be happy to walk you through it if you like." They really were quite friendly once you got to know them, and once you got past the whole biting and trying to eat you thing.

Alyssa stepped into Professor Bentley's office and turned to greet the Professor who had opened the door for her."Good afternoon Professor it is nice to see you again. I know that you are very busy, so I'll try to make my visit short." Alyssa looked around for Caltex and sure enough he was hiding under a coffee table peering up at her. She waved at him before turning back to the Professor.
Before she made her request, Alyssa held up the basket she was carrying. "Uh...Professor I made a batch of Blueberry Streusel Scones this morning and was wondering whether you would like some." Alyssa uncovered the towel that was keeping the scones warm and handed the basket over to Professor Bentley.
"The reason I'm here is because I would like to get your permission to enter Greenhouse Five to help take care of it. I know that you rarely allow anyone inside it and I promise that I won't touch anything that you don't want me to. But I noticed that after class today, that we had made a mess and I was hoping that I could help clean up there like I do with the other Greenhouses." Alyssa paused to wait to hear what the Professor had to say.

Same as a flutterby bush? Yeah, if flutterby bushes suddenly sprouted vines and wanted to EAT you sort of thing, then, sure, Kurumi would believe that it was just like planting a flutterby bush. Still, Kurumi smiled somewhat confidently.
"I think, just because this is a new species of plant that I have not dealt with before, I would feel more confident if you walked me through it, professor," Kurumi said with a small bow of her head. "I am confident in planting flutterby bushes, but I haven't handled a flesh eating plant on my own yet." Just having some sort of supervision would be appreciated, even if the prefect was doing all the work.

Bypassing the door a sliver shaped wolf ran into the office and stopped right infront of Professor Bentley. Opening its mouth as if to howl a voice the clear voice of Professor Roslund could be heard in its stead
"Professor Bentley, come to the balloon party tent ASAP! Some things have happened. I need your assistance with the students." With its message given the silver wolf dissapeard in a shroud of mist.

It appeared as though her popularity was still in tact after the Snargaluff lesson... something she hadn't quite anticipated. Poor dears were often misunderstood.
As Alyssa entered, Seren eyed the basket. For her? Really? "Oh thank you dear, but I ate not long ago... would you mind if I save them for later?" After all, there was only so much a Herbologist could eat in a day, she still had figure to maintain.
At the Hufflepuff's request, Seren shook her head. No, no, no, no, no. "I'm afraid it's much too dangerous to be wandering around greenhouse five at all. It is strictly for lessons under my supervision... wouldn't want you getting hurt... or going missing."
Seren was fairly certain Fina would have her head on a silver platter if anything happened to a Badger in her greenhouses.
SPOILER!!: Kurumi

Seren smiled brightly. Yay, there was nothing better than getting out of the office to do some replanting. This would be an experience and a half. "Certainly, not a problem at all... do have time now? I'm free."

She had been about to snooze off in her armchair, when the a familiar voice resonated within the walls. Eyes fluttering shut, Seren watched the wolf patronus in confusion as the heard the sound of Edvard's voice fill her office.
Some things have happened?
Assistance with the students?
...
What in the name of Merlins stop watch was going on?!
It was a good thing she hadn't dressed for bed, though even if she had, it still wouldn't have bothered her. The students were their top priority, so if they required her assistance, then she would be there with bell flowers on.
Without a moments hesitation, she rose from her seat, summoned her wand and raced out of the office, locking it swiftly behind her.

Kurumi's eyes lite up. She wasn't expecting her kind-of-private-lesson to be so soon. In fact, Kurumi didn't even have her school bag with her...nor was she wearing the proper attire to really do any gardening.
"I do, actually," Kurumi said with an eager nod. More distractions were always a huge plus and she wasn't having any of her private meditation sessions with Professor Romanos until later in the week. "Would it be alright if I met you there, professor? I'd like to change into something more comfortable and grab my Herbology equipment." Because, Kurumi never wore a skirt to Herbology lessons, it just wasn't practical.

Then she heard the Professor tell her that she wouldn't be able to work inside Greenhouse Five. Alyssa was disappointed but understood the Professor's reasons. "That's okay, Professor. I understand your reasons. I'll just continue cleaning up and helping to take care of the other Greenhouses. I know that you're busy, so I'll be going now. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me."
With a wave and a smile, Alyssa left the Professor's office.

Brilliant! Well that settled that!
It would be nice to get into the greenhouses and DO some one on one tuition. Large classes were fun, but oh so tiring.
"Not a problem, let's say we'll meet in... a half hour?"That would give her time to find her favourite gloves, and prepare some meat scraps.

Honestly, she was relieved that Alyssa understood... she knew the girl liked to be hands on, and was very involved. But some things just were not possible, and she didn't ahve the time to chaperone her - otherwise she would have. "Well thanks for stopping by. I'll see you in class."

"Sounds perfect," she responded with a nod. Kurumi took that as her cue to start heading back to the common room to get her things. "I'll...just leave him with you, professor," she said referring to the plant. After all, it would be rather counter productive to bring it back to the common room only to bring it back down to the greenhouse.
And with that, the Gryffindor stood up, bowed once more politely, and then made her way out of the office. Walnut would be pleased that he would be able to sleep soundly at night and not have to worry about something trying to tear out his fur.

"Of course," she nodded brightly, giving the plant an affectionate glance. They were such darlings.
Giving Kurumi a nod and even a bow--though she'd never really bowed to a person before, unless she was engaging in a duel-- which felt odd, but nonetheless it felt right at the same time.
Now. Onto the fun stuff!
Turning first to rummage through her draws, Seren spent some time looking for her favourite gloves, sure they were slightly worn out, but they were still the best pair she owned.
