It was such a nice day outside, the weather was mild, not quite warm but not cold either, and it was perfect for the first lesson of the term. Seren stood just inside the entrance to greenhouse two, waiting for the students to arrive. It was fairly dark in here, with creeping ivy curling an crawling its way up the sides of the glass panels, but there was still enough light to see clearly.
Tapping her heel excitedly and stroking the moving tendrils of a nearby ivy, Seren waited patiently for the students to arrive. "Just form a group here please," she said to them indicating to the area just in front of her. Yes that's right... just stand there, no need for sitting just yet, or at all.
OOC: The lesson has officially started, do not announce yourself arriving from this point onward, just pretend as if you've been here the whole time. If you haven't done so already then please read through the Herbology Rules and Expectations and the SS Site Rules. All SS Board Rules apply. IC rule breaking will result in IC punishment, OOC rule breaking will result in OOC punishment. Please behave appropriately and most importantly... have fun. If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a PM.
After making sure that Xavier wasn't in a position where he would get too much direct sunlight - he got really agitated and tried to pull out Walnut's hair more than usual when the plant was in that state - Kurumi had tied her hair back in a pony tail and made her way to the greenhouses for Herbology. The class was always very hands on, so having her hair falling loosely around her shoulders and down her back wasn't the greatest of ideas, especially if there was the potential for pixies to be involved.
Kurumi was a bit surprised when Professor Bentley indicated for them to not sit down just yet and couldn't help but wrinkle her nose slightly at the ivy that was...moving. Please don't let this one have fangs or attract pixies...
"Good day, Professor Bentley," Kurumi smiled as she took a standing position beside her new Head of House, her eyes eyeing how the professor toyed with the plant so care freely.
Next class Herbology. Messer was not really sure about this particular subject. He didn't hate it per se but he never really fond with plants or flowers. They're too girly. He made his way towards the greenhouse. The weather was pretty nice today maybe after the lesson he could go and enjoy the mild weather.
When he entered the greenhouse several students already there and he also saw the Herbology Professor standing inside the entrance. "Good day, Professor." Yup. Its such a good day indeed.
Then Messer eyes went to the older girl standing beside Professor Bentley. Kurumi wasn't it? "Hello, Kurumi." he gave the older girl a smile. "How are you?"

Did that ivy just move? was Sky's first thought when she entered the dim greenhouse. Surely it was just her mind playing tricks on her… right? Either way, she was glad she'd thought to put her hair in a ponytail before coming to class. Wouldn't want any of that may-or-may-not-be-moving ivy to grab it or anything…
"Hello Professor," she said, keeping an eye on the ivy.

Half asleep and half awake, Nora made her way to the greenhouses to find the one they would use a bit dark in the inside, but thankfully, she was too sleepy to notice the ivy, or else she would probably start worrying.
"Hello, professor," she smiled at the woman, and joined the others in the group they were forming. No sitting today?
"Hello, Professor Bentley!" Tayla said and joined the students. She eyed the plant thing the professor was stroking and shuddered. She never did like moving plants much.
As more students arrived, Tayla looked around for some familiar faces and suddenly wondered if the little tornado of a girl, Lea Carter, would come any time soon.
SPOILER!!: Kurumi

So she decided on a spot toward the back and off to the side a bit. She still didn't know very many people yet.
Then Tayla spotted a girl whom she saw at the Gryffindor tower the other day. She decided to introduce herself. She liked making new friends. "Hello," Tayla smiled "I'm Tayla. Third year. What's your name?"

"Professor Seren, good day!" She said, followed by a small bow when she saw the Herbology Professor right inside the entrance. When she gave them instructions, Beatrice followed immediately and went over to the place that they instructed them to proceed. Then she noticed that the greenhouse was a bit darker than usual and as she roamed her eyes, she found the cause of the semi darkness.
There were ivy tendrils all over the glass panels!
"Errr--isn't it a bit dark in here Professor?" She asked.
"Morning Beatrice dear," she said, offering the bright Ravenclaw a smile. Of course it didn't surprise her that a Ravenclaw would question the darkness of the greenhouse. "Why would it be too dark?" she asked with a wink. As always, there was a reason for everything.

Stopping not too far from where the professor was standing, she smiled as she took in what was around her. She hadn't really explored the area around there yet, but it was definitely on her list now.
"Good day, Professor," she smiled as she waited where they were instructed to wait.
Seeing the ivy, she tilted her head slightly and blinked. She was a bit curious about said ivy now. She had never seen ivy move like at and it kind of made her excited for what was going to happen next.
"Good morning dear," she welcomed warmly.

So, Kurumi had decided it would be a brilliant idea to set Selina's alarm clock right next to her ear when she went to sleep last night. The usually unbelievably heavy sleeper had woken up to the sound of ringing in her ears. In fact, the clock was so loud that she fell out of her bed from fright. That was why she was now walking down the the Greenhouse with time to spare.
As she rounded the corner to see Greenhouse number two Selina entered the door. She saw Professor Bentley the Gryffindor Head of House just as she stepped inside the Greenhouse. It was so nice to see Bentley again and she smiled at her Professor, "Morning ma'am, I mean Professor."
Then she did as she was told and filled into the hoard of students now filling the greenhouse.
Seren smirked a little as Selina called her ma'am again. "Morning Selina," she said with a wink.

The Herbology professor was standing by the door. "Hello," she said timidly. "I'm Jessie," she said as she passed by.
Once inside the greenhouse, Jessie had a look around. These plants were...well, magical! Some where huge, almost tree-like! Some could fit in the palm of her hand. Jessie wandered around while she waited for class to start.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Jessie." ... "I'm Professor Bentley...and uhh welcome to Herbology."
Merlin that was an awkward greeting. But of course she felt it was necesary, new students probably wouldn't know her name after all.

What if they covered something she was supposed to have known from the last semester? What if they had a pop quiz? Sure during her time away she'd voraciously kept up with her independent studying but what about the practical part???
Taking a calming breath, the brunette concentrated on the crunch of fall leaves beneath her feet as she walked slowly to the second greenhouse. There was no use counting her chickens before they hatched. Best to not get ahead of herself. Besides, she'd always loved herbology and it would do her no good to go in there wound up tight. Plants sensed those kinds of things after all. At least, she liked to think they did. A bit more relaxed now, she let her mouth perk up in a friendly smile as she noticed the Professor just inside the entrance. "Good day, Professor Bentley," she greeted as she stepped just nearby where the group was forming. "Beautiful day for a lesson."
"Good morning Ivory," she greeted the former Prefect... her absense had been concerning, but it was good to see her back. "It is indeed."

"Hi Professor Bentley." Harlow beamed and she threw her arms around the woman's legs. She hugged her tight and let her go in case someone else wanted to hug her. Professor Bentley always smelled like juniper and tea, which Harlow thought was an appealing combination.
Grinning from ear to ear, Seren pat Harlows back as the little snake wrapped her arms around her leg. "Hello Harlow, had a good summer?" she asked.

That didn't mean she'd necesarily be biased, after all.
She'd still made sure her hair was tightly braided before this lesson, though. It always paid to be prepared for anything, and she blinked as her eyes had to adjust to the dimness of the greenhouse. "Bonjour, Professor Bentley," she said with a smile once she'd located the professor. Yes, she'd ntentionally used French, but then she figured if it had amused Professor Bentley last term, it wouldn't be to bad if she continued it. At least a little. She was still curious what they were going to be working with this lesson, and as soon as she found a position in the cleared out area, she started looking around. All she could see was ivy, but that didn't mean the lesson wouldn't be interesting.
"Ahh bonjour Stella, I trust you had a nice summer?" she greeted brightly.

She had rolled her sleeves up but hadn't bothered tying her hair up for this lesson. It was so short anyway. 'Hi' she greeted the person next to her, no clue who they were.
"Good morning dear", she greeted with a warm smile.

"Good morning," she greeted the young Badger.

"Hello Professor," she said, keeping an eye on the ivy.
"Good morning Sky," she replied, watching in amusement as the girl eyed the ivy. "They're not dangerous... you're safe," she reassured the Snake.

"Good morning Nora." Poor girl looked rather tired, hopefully todays activity would wake her up.

SPOILER!!: Kurumi
"Hi, Kurumi!" Tayla greeted, seeing one of the students she knew.
Then Tayla spotted a girl whom she saw at the Gryffindor tower the other day. She decided to introduce herself. She liked making new friends. "Hello," Tayla smiled "I'm Tayla. Third year. What's your name?"
Continuing to observe her fellow students, Tayla noticed a boy with glasses arrive. Ravenclaw. She wondered who he was.
"Good morning dear," she replied, unable to hide the smirk from her face. Why was it students didn't like moving plants? ... it just didn't make sense.
Quickly stealing a glance at the pendant watch around her neck, Seren bit her lower lip... just a couple more minutes, no doubt there would be a few late comers.
OOC: The lesson has not started yet, so feel free to RP arriving still. The lesson will start officially in approximately 7 hours form the time of this post.

She smiled as the Professor returned her greeting. It was such a wonderful day, and it certainly was appropriate for their first Herbology lesson this term.
Hmm..why indeed? Of course she caught that wink. But what exactly did it mean? Looking around once more, Beatrice reminded herself that the reason behind the darkness was the ivy all around the greenhouse. So...maybe...
"Oh!" She suddenly exclaimed, as if guessing what the Professor meant. Then she frowned a bit, surely those ivy aren't dangerous. Professor Seren would never cause harm to the students. "Err--Professor Seren, they don't bite, do they?" She asked, head gesturing the ivy tendrils that the Professor was seemingly playing with.
Amelia was running late, something that was unusual for her in normal circumstances. However she still didn't know her way around the school all that well and so had ended up in the wrong place and then had to retrace her steps and ask a second year for directions. Merlin was that embarrassing. But she had made it to class.
Puffing slightly from the run she waltzed into the greenhouse. "Hi Professor," she said as she found a position to sit. Hopefully the professor wouldn't be mad at her for not being precisely on time.
The weather was wonderful, it wasn't hot nor cold it was just perfect just the way Nessie liked it. They were having their first herbology lesson today, and Ness was sort of excited about it, even though she didn't particularly like the subject, she liked the professor. She walked into class with a small smile on her face. "Morning Professor Bentley." she said as she walked passed the professor.
Looking around, Nessie noticed that the greenhouse was rather dark, and that there wasn't much light coming in the room. She also saw that there was ivy all over the place, she wondered why there was so much of it, but she'd probably find out later in the class. Walking a few more steps, she positioned herself in a good spot and then waited for the lesson to start.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Hades, settling into Hogwarts alright?" she asked. Hades seemed to be a pleasant Slytherin.
"Indeed, I'm," beamed the fourth year. Bentley seemed friendly with the students. Don't think he'd be pranking her.

Hades tilted his head down slightly as he felt like someone was closing to him. "Oh. Hey there, Sam!" greeted the elder boy with a smile. "Excited for Herbology? You should be. It's a fine subject," merely fine to him. It wasn't much of his cup of tea.
As Gwen came in the Greenhouse, she squinted and blinked as her eyes adjusted to darkness.
"Good day, Professor," greeted Gwen with a smile, hoping she was saying this in the right direction, since she couldn't see very well and the inside of the Greenhouse looked like a dark blur to her. Fortunately, she didn't bump in to any of the plants or step on to anybody's feet.

Kurumi had never met an ivy that was curious...unless it was somehow related to Devil's Snare - which would also explain the reason for things being so dark. She chewed on her bottom lip a little. Playful...right...playful to Professor Bentley when it came to plants usually meant something different to the rest of society. You know, the non-Herbologist people. Kurumi smiled and nodded. "Well...it's cute," Kurumi said with a surprisingly convincing smile on her face.
Kurumi looked around and noticed that Jonathan hadn't arrived yet, but Vickers had and she offered him a small wave.

Oh, Kurumi remembered this boy from Diagon Alley and she smiled in his direction as he came closer. "Hey Messer," she replied. "I'm well, eager for class..." She trailed off just a bit to look at the playful ivy. "You excited for Herbology?" Hopefully he remembered his gloves.

Stella had to struggle to hide the grin that had resulted from Professor Bentley's response to her greeting, but she managed to get it down to a simple smile quickly. Which she turned to the professor upon the subsequent question that had been posed. At least she knew that, even if other things had changed when it came to the Herbology professor, she wasn't about to have issue with the occasional French being spoken. Maybe she'd still be able to keep bilingual, beyond occasionally testing Matt's knowledge of the language.
"I did. My summer was very nice," she replied, even as it seemed the professor was anxious about the time. Certain things about her summer were better than others, namely what had happened during her birthday surprise once she was back in London, but she really couldn't complain. She wasn't about to say much more, though. Especially if class was going to begin soon.

Nono- I can't be late!, Gwen thought while rushing along the corridor, hoping she would get to the Herbology class in time. There was no way she could do well in that class, so maybe she could at least try not to loose points from her house by being late. Grr. Anyway she was going to screw something up with those plants.... Finally arriving in front of the Greenhouses, Gwen realized she wasn't late. Phew. After waiting a couple of minutes to regain her breath, the Ravenclaw finally came in.
'Hello Professor Bentley', she smiled and then joined the large group.

Lea simply rushed into the place of plants. ''Hello, professor!!!'' That was what it was called, right? Because it had plants inside. Herbology meant...well...she was not sure but she knew it had something to do with plants. Even the place was a bit gloomy, the dark haired little girl shrugged it away and took a position near other people with Gryffindor uniforms until she CAUGHT something MOVING from the corner of her eyes.
There was this long, green ivy thing moving!!!! Oooh...interesting!!! Unholstering his wand quickly she started to poke the moving thing with it. Also she had a question that she had been dying to ask about magical plants and flowers so she did while still poking the vine so. ''Professor, is it true that there are HUGE and VERY DANGEROUS plants and flowers that can eat flesh like animals and PEOPLE!!!! I wanna see how they attack and consume the flesh!!!''

"Yes thank you, and I hope you enjoyed your summer too" Katie smiled to the professor, she then looked at the windows... something was there, but what was it? Katie couldn't remember, "Um Professor, whats that?" Katie asked pointing to the plant growing on the windows.

Amethyst blushed deeply as she walked into the classroom. This was her favorite class of all, and she was running on the possibility of being late. Fabulous! Saber was lying over her shoes, thus hiding them from plain sight. She was relieved when she saw others still arriving. She nodded to the Professor, "Good Day, Professor Bentley. I hope your day is going fabulously already." After she finished greeting the professor, she want and took a seat next to Alyssa, Minnie, Harvey, and Butterfly

Herbology!!! She was waiting for it to start she wouldn't call it her strongest subject... But proffeser Bently was the nicest Proffeser ever (at Hogwarts) She smiled at her the room was dark and creepy... Not somthing you'd do when you welcome the new and old students back... But what the hay maybe it would be... Fun!

Jez walked into the greenhouse almost bouncing with happiness. She'd realised early on that Herbology was her favourite subject, and could hardly wait for the first lesson of the term to start! She smiled brightly at the teacher as she came in. "Hello Professor Bentley! Did you have a good holiday?"

How could this happen? She had never been late for class, NEVER in two years, and she didn't plan to start today. Therefore, the third year Gryffindor ran for it, combing her hair on her way to the greenhouses. She entered quickly, glad to notice that class hadn't started quite yet.
'Hello, Professor.' Ariadne greeted after catching her breath and joining the group. Were they going to do some kind of group activity? If so, she hoped to be paired with someone more skilled at Herbology than her. Which could be almost anyone.
Elliot meandered into the greenhouse, not quite feeling up to herbology today. She was a little more tired than usual....it was weird. She had her bag slung over her shoulder and her notebook tucked under her arm. She was ready to take notes....Whooh....
