It was such a nice day outside, the weather was mild, not quite warm but not cold either, and it was perfect for the first lesson of the term. Seren stood just inside the entrance to greenhouse two, waiting for the students to arrive. It was fairly dark in here, with creeping ivy curling an crawling its way up the sides of the glass panels, but there was still enough light to see clearly.
Tapping her heel excitedly and stroking the moving tendrils of a nearby ivy, Seren waited patiently for the students to arrive. "Just form a group here please," she said to them indicating to the area just in front of her. Yes that's right... just stand there, no need for sitting just yet, or at all.
OOC: The lesson has officially started, do not announce yourself arriving from this point onward, just pretend as if you've been here the whole time. If you haven't done so already then please read through the Herbology Rules and Expectations and the SS Site Rules. All SS Board Rules apply. IC rule breaking will result in IC punishment, OOC rule breaking will result in OOC punishment. Please behave appropriately and most importantly... have fun. If you have any questions don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Taylor noticed that one of her friends were close by her so she waved slightly to her friend and then getting back on task, she brushed off the soil from her gloves. Taylor made another mark on her notes.
Violet saw someone wave a hello to her at the corner of her eye. She looked up to see that it was her friend Taylor and Violet waved back and moved onto the next step of the assignment.
Now it was time to plant the seed. Violet quickly pulled on her dragonhide gloves and carefully picked up her fire seed. She gently placed it on top of the soil and seeing there was no more soil in her spot, went to see if another place had some to cover her seed.
She came back with more soil in hand and crossed off the third step off.
Text Cut: Violet's notes
1. Charm pot to heat itself. 2. Fill half of pot up with soil and let it rest for several minutes to warm up. 3. Carefully take a single fire seed with dragon hide gloves and place on top of the soil.
4. Cover fire seed with soil, so that pot is filled. Pat the soil down a little (not too much, you don't want to suffocate it).
5. Water the fire seed with boiling water, without drowning it.
For boiling water, add water (via aguamenti) to the watering can and heat it. This will ensure you 1. control the temperature and 2. don't over water your seed. Use a VERY small amount, simply enough to moisten the soil.
Next step was to water the seeds. Giving the heap of soil one last pat, Lewis reached for the watering can next to the pot and his wand. He held his wand a little awkwardly for a moment before deciding that it was safe to take off the gloves for now. He wasn't going to be touching the plants anymore, after all. And he was going to put them on again RIGHT AWAY after he had cast the spell. Or spells actually.
After he had gotten the gloves off, Lewis reached for his wand again and pointed it at the watering can. "Aguamenti." He said clearly, and watched as a couple of water droplets dripped off the tip of his wand. Err."Aguamenti!" He repeated a little more forcefully and was quite happy to see some water emerge his wand this time and go into the watering can. This hadn't been too hard. Maybe somebody else could do the rest of the last step for him and he would just go around filling everybody's watering cans? Probably not an option...
Once his watering can was filled up, Lewis stopped the spell but didn't lower his wand. "Chaudensis!" He said, twisting his wrist a little in circular motion. Putting his wand away, he then proceeded by glancing into the watering can and since he couldn't really think of another way to check its temperature dipped the tip of his index finger in. Right, that was pretty warm already. Great.
Biting his lip a little nervously Lewis reached for the watering can and...jus began to pour water into the pot. Okay, how much was enough? How much was too much? He was just going to go by- HANG ON! Was the soil supposed to swim like that. Was that the seed he saw right there in the little brownish puddle inside his pot? Was that supposed to be like that? Was the seed supposed to come back out of the heap of soil?

"Uhh what cow?" she asked a little perplexed. How on earth had the boy come to the conclusion of... cow... in the incantation? Chaudensis... there was nothing cow-like about it at all.
"Chaudensis dear... chaw-den-sis."
Well on the whole it looked as though the students were getting along quite nicely. While they continued practicing the wand movement, Seren summoned a box of goggles--because you could never be too safe, and another small cart of watering cans.
Feeling around in her robes pocket, she plucked out an old silver tin and screwed the top off. Inside where the fire seeds, all hot and red hissed a little as it met more oxygen.
"Alright everyone, I trust you all have your notes ready.." and that they were paying attention.
"First things first, you must perform the charm on your pot... now you will know if it has worked because you will feel the sides begin to warm, it wont be hot, just warm to the touch. Then come up and get your materials and follow the instructions on the board."
Simple, yes?
Tapping her wand on the blackboard once more, another line appeared beneath he instructions.
"So everyone come and claim a pot and goggles and get started. ONLY come for your seed when you need it."
"Also should you wish to mark your pot for whatever reason, feel free to do so." ... because she expected at least SOME of them to visit their seedling as it grew.
OOC: To be eligible for full participation marks you need to complete this activity following the following rules:
[1] This must be done in 5 posts, no more, no less.
[2] Do NOT double post.
[3] Title each post with which number you are up to. i.e. #1 ... #2 etc etc
[4] If you require Bentley's assistance write Bentley in the title as well, i.e. #3 Bentley! ...
[5] Have fun, remember you have gloves and goggles so you shouldn't get hurt. If you do you will be asked to leave the class to see the nurse and therefore miss out on the rest of the activity.
Harvey listened to what Professor Bentley was saying.. once she had finished instructing them Harvey did as he was told and went to claim his pot and goggles. Once he had claimed his pot and goggles he went and took his seat. he then marked his pot.. and took out his wand.. he then traced a circle on the inside of his pot "Chau-den-sis!" he then felt the pot.. but nothing happened it was just as cold as it was before.. so he tried again. He then traced the circle around his pot again "Chau-den-sis!" he then felt his pot and again nothing.. he then took a deep breath.. and concentrated on charming the pot to heat itself. He then for the third time traced a circle around the pot "Chau-den-sis!" he then felt the pot and was happy to feel the pot slowly warm up.. he breathed with relief or he would had no choice but to call .... Professor Bentley..
He then edited his parchment by crossing out the first task on the list..

Aurora went to collect a pot and goggles and set about preparing it. She put on the goggles and gloves then marked the pot with her name and pointed her wand at it. ”Chaudensis.” she said, moving her wand in a circular motion. She felt the pot warming under her gloves.
And finally, add water. Pam grabbed a watering can, eager to get things going. Taking her wand back out, she tapped the watering can. "Aguanmenti." She only filled a little bit of the can though. She didn't need a lot of water, and she didn't want to drown the poor thing. Using the same movement and incantation as before. Just a little, to heat the water. Once it was warm, she poured a little bit in the pot. But just enough to make it look moist. She didn't know if it was enough, or if it was too much. But it looked fine. She put the can back on the table, and looked back up at the professor.
Ariella scribbled the steps down onto a piece of paper. Chaw-den-sis, she repeated over in her head as she rolled up the parchment and placed it next to her on the table.

She pulled on her gloves and goggles and retrieved her pot. Grabbing her wand and gripping it tightly, she pointed it towards the pot.
"Chaudensis!" she said firmly, moving her wand in the circular motion that Professor Bentley had shown them. She put down her wand and took a deep breath, fretting about looking into her pot. Ariella nervously glanced into it, feeling a nice warm wave of air fan over her face. Had she done it?! She had!

Violet scooped up the soil and poured it into her pot to until it covered her seed. How much was enough? She kept pouring more until the soil reached almost to the brim. Violet was getting worried. Did she put too much soil in? Violet hoped not and continued to pat the soil. How much was not too much patting? Sigh. She just needed to relax and do it step by step. Gently.
She quickly crossed off the step and went to get a watering can for the last step which was to water the plant.

Third intruction she was flying this.. She took her gloves off and felt the soil now it was warm perfect in fact.. she put her dragon hide gloves back on and made a little whole in the soil for the seed she picked one up carefully and quickly put it into the slot and looked odd even if she did say so her self she then looked down at her notebook for the next instruction
Silvia checked the soil; it was warm. Okay, next step, she thought.
3. Carefully take a single fire seed with dragon hide gloves and place on top of the soil.
Silvia slipped her glove back on and walked over to the tin. When the short line of students waiting to get their fire seeds in front of her was gone, she carefully reached into the tin. She could feel warmth emanating from the tin, but her glove protected her as she pulled out a fire seed. Careful not to drop it, Silvia made her way back to her pot and gently set the fire seed inside it.
Rightios, time to get started. Selena picked up a pot, looking at it. She should start decorating it... she was pretty sure she had some stickers in her bag somewhere - because stickers were cool. Nah, she'd do it later. Selena tossed the pot up and down a little, before stopping because she realized she could easily break it. Sel set the brown pot back down and took her wand. She rotated her wrist, saying clearly, "Chaudensis." Selena then slipped on her gloves, just to check if it was warm, and touched the side of the pot. "Owwwh...." Selena pouted, it was warm. Which means... task one... completed. Epicalness right there.

Aurora took some soil and filled up her pot half way. Right... now to wait... Tumtitum... This could take a while. How long did it take to warm up some soil?
Glenn collected her pot and goggles. She marked her pot with her name, Glenn Reyes, then put on her goggles. She looked around her and thought that the goggles made everyone look a little funny, no doubt she looked a little funny too. With her blonde curly hair and goggles magnifying her blue eyes.
She drew a line through the first activity in her journal that she was going to do and turned to her pot. The badger drew her wand and recited, "Chaudensis.” while moving her wand in the circular motion they had practised before.
The pot warmed then cooled again. That was weird. "Chaudensis!” she said again. The pot warmed and stayed warm this time. Good.

So far, so good. Warm pot, warm soil, seed in the middle, more soil on top. now she had to water it. With boiling water. That was the next step.
Ellie pulled out her wand and grabbed a watering can. Now, not too much... "Aguamenti," she said and put a filled her watering can just a little bit. There. That looked good enough. Now she just had to boil it.
"Chaudensis," she said, twisting her wrist in a circular motion... Now what? It wasn't boiling yet. So maybe she just had to wait, because it took a while for the planting pot to get hot. So, Ellie waited, rocking a little on her heels for mild distraction until...
... it was ready! Ellie saw boiling bubbles coming to the surface. She bit her lip and picked up the watering can with her gloved hand. Slowly, she watered her seed, making sure not to drown it.
Once it looked good, Ellie set the watering can back down and crossed the last thing off her checklist.

Well, Ariella had managed to accomplish the first task without setting the greenhouse on fire. She supposed that was a good sign. Glancing down at her notes, she re-read step two.
Grabbing some soil, she filled up her pot about halfway with it. And now she would wait. How long did it take for soil to heat up anyway? She tucked her notes into the fold of her notebook and drummed her fingers on the table as she waited, checking the pot every so often.
LuLu picked her her shovel and carefully covered the slot with the soil more in untill she had enough.. set sat on her toes lazily blowing her hair out of her face since she didn't want to damage her hair with the dirty gloves which she was possibly burning after the lesson.. She stood back up again the chances of pins and needles, sitting like thar, sore...
Selena then took some soil and started to fill up her pot. She shook the soil in slowly, watching as it created lumps and stuff inside. When it was about half-way filled, she smiled and let the soil sit there for a few minutes. Lalala... time was ticking... Selena didn't like waiting. It wasn't much fun.

Glenn got herself some soil and filled half the pot up. Just like the instructions said. It also said to let it rest for a couple of minutes. She took her eyes of her pot and watched the others going about their business, some were further ahead than herself and others were just starting.
She tapped her foot and watched the pot. Deciding it had been long enough, she crossed off the next instruction and moved on.

The soil should be sufficiently warm now. Aurora checked that her gloves were on properly and went to collect a fire seed. Ahh, this was so cool! She placed the seed carefully on top of the soil in her pot.

Ella checked the list to see what the next task would be. Fill half of pot up with soil and let it rest for several minutes to warm up. Ella touched the pot gently one more time, yes, it was definitely warm enough. She handled the soil carefully as she poured it into the pot, making sure not to spill any. After filling it half way, she sat back with a smile. Okay, so I'm really enjoying this class so far...even if I am planting something that could be potentially dangerous! Ella knew that the experience she had at home in her mother's garden was nothing to what she would experience here. Alrighty, what's next? Ella crossed off step two and glanced down to see what she should do next.

Two steps down, three more to go. Ariella tightened her gloves and gently lifted her fire seed. She placed it carefully into her pot, adjusting it so that it was sitting on right top of the soil.
Glancing at her notes, she saw that she would need some more soil for the next step. She retrieved another handful and began to carry it back to her pot, slipping her notes back into her notebook.
After a few minutes, and touching the soil, and pouting because it was HOT again, she went off to take a fire seed. Selena made sure her dragon hide gloves were on properly, though she wasn't quite sure how she could even put on gloves wrong and went off to pick up a fire seed. A fire seed... because that was one. Selena placed it on top of her pot with satisfaction. Part three... completed. Now she'd just have to get more soil. Fun.

Ella was a little nervous about this next step. She was actually going to handle a fire seed and she wanted to do so carefully. Ella made sure her gloves were on securely and picked up one fire seed. Was it just her or did she feel a little warmth even with the gloves on? She wasn't sure if she was just imagining things and it wasn't hurting her so she continued. She gingerly placed the seed on top of the soil and took off her gloves. She was happy to cross another step off the list.
Selena found the soil, and started to pour it once again into the pot. The seed seemed to stay there till there was more soil inside and she smiled. There. The seed was covered and probably all cozy with his soil blanket - which was gross because who liked blankets made of soil? She pat down the soil, gloves still on, making sure that the soil wasn't too tightly packed. Rightios, now what was the last thing to do, again?

Post 5 Watering da fire seed :D (and a bit of Bentley)
Trencher for Life||Avril Lavigne|| Ni hen piao liang (You're very beautiful)
Violet returned to her pot with the watering can in hand. She placed it on the table and took oiut her wand. The augamenti spell can't be that hard can it? She pointed her wand to the watering can and said clearly and loudly, "Aguamenti!" Instantly a fountain of water spurted from the end of her wand. She filled the can up and said "Chaudensis," and waited until bubbles formed in the water showing that it was boiled up good.
How much water was enough? She checked her to-do list again and saw that you only needed to pour a tiny bit of water until the soil was moist. Okay. That seemed easy enough to do. She picked up the watering can, which was quite heavy and sloshed some on the floor which had almost burned her skin and sprinkled it slowly into the soil. Then Violet placed her finger on the soil to test how wet it was and was glad to feel that it wasn't flooding the soil.
Violet was glad her mother had taught her a bit of gardening and crossed off the last thing off her to do list. She raised her hand and waited for the professor to check on her pot just in case she had really done something wrong.
