Alyssa opened the door into the Greenhouse. She breathed in the scent of soil and the smells of the plants in the greenhouse. She quickly walked in and closed the door. She already had her work robes on and was ready to start cleaning up the place. She quickly walked over to the cupboard where all the tools were kept. She took out a broom, a pair of shears, a shovel, a spade, a dust pan, a watering can and a bucket and carried them over to the middle of the greenhouse. She put on her dragonhide gloves, picked up the shears and started clipping off the dead leaves and branches off the plants. She worked on all the plants before laying aside the pruner on the work table. Then she picked off the dead leaves lying in the flower beds and while she was doing that she removed one of her gloves to test the soil to make sure that it was moist enough. She took note of the flower beds that needed some extra watering before putting on her gloves and moving on to the next flower bed.

Once Alyssa was done cleaning up the flowerbeds, she picked up the bucket and the shovel and walked outside the greenhouse to the back of where the soil was. She shovelled some of the soil into the bucket and carried the bucket back inside the greenhouse. She then knelt down on the ground, and taking up the spade, she slowly filled those flowerbeds that required more soil. Once she had scooped the soil in. She leveled out the soil with her hands, patting it down firmly. After she had ensured that all the flowerbeds had sufficient soil in them, Alyssa pointed her wand into the watering can and said,"Aguamenti." Soon the watering can was filled with water. Picking up the can, Alyssa walked over to the flower beds she had noted earlier whose soil was a little dry and poured water onto them. She made sure that she didn't over water them. Once she was done, she laid the watering can next to the bucket and picked up the broom.

She started sweeping up and down the flowerbeds, sweeping up the dirt, dead leaves and fallen petals that were lying on the ground. Once she had formed a pile, she picked up the dust pan and swept the pile into it. She then carried the dust pan out to the back and emptied it onto the compost pile before returning back inside the Greenhouse. Alyssa knew that there was more that needed to be done, but when she looked at her watch, she noticed that it was almost time for dinner, so she quickly cleaned up the bucket and the tools that she used before placing them all back in the cupboard. As she made her way out of the greenhouse, she took one last look and promised herself that she would come back the next day to finish up her tasks. Alyssa quickly left the greenhouse making sure that she closed the door securely after her.

Sophie entered Greenhouse 2 quickly and went straight to where she had left her pot with her seedling. She was happy and proud that she finally could take care of a little plant all by herself, with no help from her Herbology-freak mum. It was all up to her now! Woop!

When her sight got used to the darkness, she got close enough to the pot and stared at the soil. "Hello there, my dear seedliing!" she waved at it. She looked up at the Ivy that was blocking all of the sun out and smiled. "Thank you for protecting my seedling, pretty Ivy!" she said getting up and stroking the plant as it moved around slowly.

Jezzabelle made her way down to the greenhouses. It was almost time to check up on her plants that she had brought with her, but they were in Greenhouse 3 and her destination at the moment was Greenhouse 2. She entered and searched around in the dark greenhouse until she stumbled upon her lovely little baby. Awww. It had sprouted already and made her very cheerful to see it was doing fine.

However, it wouldn't last much longer if the Ivy didn't keep the sunlight off of the poor thing, for a stray beam of light had made a direct hit on to her plant. She stroked the Ivy gently and cooed softly, "Could you please block that beam of light hitting my plant? I would very much appreciate it." The Ivy gently wrapped around her wrist and then the beam of light vanished. "Thank you lovely Ivy." She looked at the list of things she had to do for her plant and sighed. Item number one done.

It had been almost two days since her herbology class where she had planted the fire seeds. Today, suddenly Ira missed her seedling. So she decided o just check it out in case.

She entered the greenhouse and went a little inside, to the cold and dark place, where her pot was kept. And besides it was Ivy, dutifully blocking out light.

She bent down and gently whispered to her sprouting fire seed, "Hey.. Hi!" It would have been so great if the plants too could communicate with us, right? "My choo chweet baby, you are sprouting very nicely. So that means all the conditions here are suitable for you, right?" she asked.

Then she lightly ran her fingers over the Ivy, stroking it lovingly. "Thank you too.. for protecting my fire seed!"

Sophie then went up to get a watering can and once again pointed her wand at it. "Aguamenti!" she said and watched the can be filled up with water. She placed the watering can on the floor and pointed her wand at its top again, now making circular movements with her wrist. "Chaudensis." Sophie was loving it. So many spells and it was just her second month of school!

She waited for the water to start boiling then picked up the watering can and gave the seedling a LIGHT sprinkling of water, just as Professor Bentley had told them to do. The last thing Sophie wanted was to drown her dear seedling! Sophie put the can down and kneeled down by her pot. Wet earth smelled so good!

Pam walked in excitedly. She was ready to start caring for her seed. She had planted it a couple days ago, and the professor said it would have sprouted by now. She walked along the rows and rows of pots from the class, looking for her own. Once she found the pot with her label on it, she found it had, indeed, sprouted. Alright, She thought. Task number one: make sure he has enough light. She looked up at the windows around it, and realized it wasn't dark enough. There was some light coming through. "Excuse me, Ivy? Do you mind moving over a little?" The ivy plant moved over, so it blocked the light. "Thank you!" She said as she went to hug the plant. As she did so, the plant wrapped it's vines around her for a quick minute. When the hug was done, she said a goodbye to her plant, and left the greenhouse.

Item number two consisted of watering her precious little plant. Jezzabelle grabbed the watering can and pulled out her wand and said, "Aguamenti." She filled up the watering can just a little, enough to water her little baby. She then made a circular motion with her wand and said, "Chaudensis."

She felt the warmth coming off the pot and waited for the water to come to a boil. She continued to stroke the Ivy that seemed to have found a comfortable resting place upon her shoulder. She smiled and continued to stare intently at her water can and when she had finally seen some steam and a few bubbles she moved to pour the water. Just a small sprinkle of water for her ickle little baby.

Crossing that step of the list of things o do she looked at the next item on her list. She felt her vocal cords clinch up just a little at the thought about it. Singing is not something she could easily do.

Ella was excited! It had been days since she had planted the little fire seed and she was eager to check on the little guy. She entered greenhouse 2 and let her eyes adjust to the darkness. Yup, it still gave her a creepy feeling but the thought of her little plant put a spring in her step. She found the pot labeled with her name and smiled. Her plant had sprouted and was looking quite healthy. "Hey there little fella, it's great to see you!"

Ella noticed that there was some light hitting her plant and that made her a bit nervous. She knew what she had to do. "Erm, excuse me? Could you please block that sunlight so that my plant can grow big and strong?" Yes, she was talking to the Ivy...and it felt, well, great! The Ivy covered the part of the window letting in the light and Ella smiled. "Thanks so much, Ivy!" She gave the Ivy what she thought was a gentle hug.

Pam re-entered the greenhouses, book in hand. She wasn't going to read to it yet, but since she wanted to get her assignment done, she decided it would be best to grab one. Walking back over to her pot, and placing the book down next to it, Pam realized her plant seemed a little dry. He needed to be moist, not dry. She grabbed a watering can that was nearby, and tapped it lightly with her wand. "Aguamenti." She said. She filled up the watering can just a small amount. It may be wand water, but she didn't want to waste any of it. Using the same heating technique she learned in class, Pam warmed up the water. Then she poured a very small amount into the pot. She didn't want to drown the poor thing.

She walked into the greehouse and found a place where the ivy was blocking light. She looked at her notes.

She stroked the ivy's vines."Thank you for blocking the sun light."

Violet skipped back to the herbology greenhouse, excited to see how her little Fire Seed had grown overnight. She entered into the Greenhouse and went to the desk to pick up her pot. Seeing a little sprout in the soil made me heart leap for joy! Violet then looked around the room for a dark corner, but finding none, she kindly stroked the Ivy and said, "May you please cover up some windows so that my young little plant won't be hurt?" The Ivy instantly blocked up the window in front of her. "Thanks!" and hugged the Ivy. Then Violet sat on the ground and set her pot down with her.

What is next? after crossing out the first step on her homework.

Entering the greenhouse, Isaac went to the back where the fire seed plants were put. Finding his, he saw it was almost in direct sunlight! AHHH! How could someone do that to his plant? Moving closer to the ivy, he stroked it gently "Could ye please, pretty please move over more so me plant will be more in the dark?"

Watching as the ivy moved into the sunlight that was shining on his dirt fire seed bush, he sighed with relief, seeing as it got a lot darker for his plant. "Thank ye so much." he said stroking the ivy some more. "Nice job ye are doing." he added before checking on his bush one last time, and exiting the green house.

Glenn walked into the Greenhouse with her curly blonde hair in a bun at the back of her head. Now she could see if she had followed the instructions correctly! She found her little plant in it's pot where she had left it. She breathed out, her plant had sprouted. There was a tiny bit too much sunlight in the greenhouse, feeling a little foolish she said, "Hey uh ivy? Can you please block the sunlight a little more," Nothing. "Please?" The ivy blocked the stray sunlight she gave the ivy a hug, again, kinda awkwardly.

Violet quickly went to get a watering can again while keeping an eye on her pot so that no one will steal it or ruin it. She plopped her watering can beside her pot and took out her wand. Point her wand to the opening of the can, she said, "Auguamenti!". Again, water spurted out of her wand and into the watering can. She filled it up until it was just a quarter full because the instructions had said that the plant didn't need much water. Violet then said "Chaudensis" to heat up the water until it was at boiling point. She placed her wand back into her pocket and picked up the watering can to sprinkle just a tiny amount of water into her pot. Violet smiled and crossed off the second step.

Selena walked into the greenhouse, ready to work on her homework. Her gloves were on and everything. She had kept Clarke and Kent out though, the last thing she needed was Kent to fall and have ivy decide to eat the pygmy puff. And she didn't want Clarke waking any of the plants up. She looked around the greenhouse for her pot filled with dirt. It was just where they had been last in the corner... but... with sun filtering through.

Frowning, Selena wondered what she could do. Selena looked down at her homework with hastily written instructions. Apparently she could ask the ivy to block the light. But what if the ivy... ate her? Selena didn't want to be eaten. Even if the ivy was... "harmless". That thing could easily trip people so she wasn't sure what the professor had meant when she said it wouldn't hurt them. But still, she needed her plant to be biiiig and strong even if it took forever for it to grow. She glared at a plant as it started to get near her and moved away slowly. She didn't like the ivy - it was so going to eat her. It was a good thing Kent hadn't been here or the pygmy puff would've been a goner.

Taking a deep breath, then letting it out, Selena looked at the plant again, frowning slightly. "Mister- er... Miss... uhmm... IVY, that's a girl name right? Anyways, can you... move and... block... the... light..." Selena said slowly, inching away once more from a particularly curious vine of ivy snaking its way over. Selena gulped.

It was the end of the world - the end of her life. The ivy would wrap itself around her and eat Selena... she was doomed! Oh wait... it was... blocking the light. She watched as the green, leafy plant shifted itself to block the light and grinned. "Thanks Leafy Ivy," Selena said. Yes. She had just named it but it didn't mean she trusted the plant. Rightios, she'd get back to work soon.

Normally Amelia would have planted her fire seed and left it at that. However, this was homework and Amelia really wanted to earn points for Slytherin so she would just have to suck it up and come visit the plant that could in fact burn her. Probably not something she should be thinking about right before entering the greenhouse.

Another problem was finding which seedling was hers. Since she hadn't actually marked her pot the first time around, as she hadn't been intending to come see the seedling... Oopsies. She'd do that as soon as she found her one.

Amelia walked up and down the pots, looking for her own. It took her about ten minutes to locate the seedling that she knew was hers. There were distinct markings on the pot that had been there when she had gotten it, and a chip in the top that she'd accidentally made with her little shovel thingie. Nodding contently Amelia pulled out her wand and wrote her initials on the side of the pot. Now if she had to come visit again she'd know which one was hers.

Now what exactly was she meant to do? Oh, right. First she had to ensure that it was dark enough for her little seedling. It did seem rather gloomy but Amelia looked up just to be sure. And lo and behold there was sunlight shining directly onto her pot! This meant talking to some ivy. "Umm, excuse me ivy, would you mind ever so much making your way up to that spot of sunlight above my fire seed seedling?" Amelia asked tentatively, patting the ivy on the wall as she did so. Talking to plants was embarrassing. When other people were around anyway. But the ivy being nice like it was did as she asked and covered up the hole, tangling playfully with her fingers as it did so.

"Thank-you," Amelia chirped at the ivy, as she gently extricated her fingers, before giving it another pat.

Stepping away from the wall she looked back up, and then down at her seedling before nodding in approval. That was a good start.

Zhenya went to visit her fire seed bush.... well, fire seed sprout. She went to the corner of Greenhouse 3 which was where she had put her pot. She saw the sign she had put on her pot, and went over to it. Taking out the list of things she needed to keep in mind with her bush, she looked at the first things. Light. Too much of it, she thought looking around. There wasn't much light, but a tad too much for her bush. She looked around to see if she could block anything and then, remembering the ivy Professor Bentley had discussed with them, she went up to it. It was really close to her pot. "Ivy, would you please mind covering my fire seed bush a bit more? It's a bit too light for it, and you would be perfect for covering it a little" she asked kindly.

It moved slowly to provide a nice cover for her plant. She smiled and said "Thank you," and held out her hand. Another strand of Ivy came down and wrapped itself up her arm for a moment, before releasing.

She thought it was silly but she danced around in circles and sand a little song to her fire seed.

Ella was happy to see that her little sprout was still enjoying the shade. She knelt down and felt the soil, alarmed at how quickly it had dryed. "Oh my, you need water stat!" Ella hurried to fetch a watering can and pointed her wand at the opening. "Auguamenti." When the can was filled with a little water, Ella began to boil it. After a couple of minutes she knelt back down in front of her plant and carefully poured some water on to the soil. Only enough so that it was moistened, she didn't want to drown her little plant! She put the can down and smiled. "There you go. Much better." With that Ella stood and skipped out of the greenhouse, stroking some Ivy on her way out.

Step three: Sing a song! Pam thought a nice lullaby type song would work. She didn't want to frighten the litle plant with some loud singing. Plus, something too loud would interfere with the other plants. She thought for a moment, and decided on the song. She decided to sing 'The Only Exception' by Paramore. While singing, she spun around, carefully that is, in a ballet type dance. She hoped this would help her little plant to grow.

Now that she could be sure that her seedling had enough darkness she needed to water it. She'd have to be careful while doing so though, and she'd once more need a watering can.

"I'll be back soon little seedling, we're just going to get you some water," Amelia told her fire seed. If she was expected to sing and dance around it then she could talk to it first. Yes she could.

AHA.

Grabbing the closest watering can she could find Amelia made her way back over to her fire seedling. Switching the watering can into her non-dominant hand Amelia got a firmer grip on her wand before casting, "Aguamenti," she said, watching with satisfaction as the watering can filled to the level needed to give a light watering. Now what was that heating spell again? Cawdensis? No. Chawdentist? Not that either. Uhuh. Chaudensis. It was definitely that last one.

"Chaudensis," Amelia said confidently, and casually, as if she hadn't forgotten the incantation for a minute there.

Once the water was boiled she turned back to her seedling.

"We're going to give you a nice water now. Don't you just love being sprinkled with boiling water. I bet it makes you feel really nice and healthy. And we need you to grow up big, even if that wont be for a while yet. And just you make sure that you don't set fire to anything," Amelia singsonged as she watered the plant just enough.

She didn't want to kill the plant and therefore get a bad grade after all.

The plant did need a water. She looked for a small watering can, and found it. Awesome! She got out her wand and said "Aguamenti," which put a small amount of water into it. She also put some gloves on so she didn't hurt her hands at all. Then she needed to warm it up, and she said "Chaudensis" whilst holding out her hand and performing the same wand movement they had been taught. and the water boiled. Reminding herself not to drown the seed, she only lightly sprinkled it with water. It looked okay, and she crossed it off.
