Ducks, fifteen in all and quite possibly already named, live in this pond. Go on, take a seat on the rocky ledge and dip your feet into the water! Rest assured, these ducks will not bite, but if you just so happen to have any type of bread or cookies on you at the time, the ducks have been known to take without asking.
Waylon keeps a good eye on the pond and the ducks, so no funny business.

Without any further adieu, August stepped away from the Slytherin and went right up to the duck closest to him on the grassy bank and picked it right up from the water. The brown thing quacked loudly and began to beat it's wings furiously as the fourth year lion walked quickly over to his girlfriend.
"Taryn, kiss it! Hurry up and kiss it!" He shouted over the quacking and beating of wings. "That's the bet!"
"Kiss it?!" Taryn looked at Auggie like he had lobsters crawling out of his ears. "What? Why?" Was this some sort of unspoken test? Why did Auggie want her to kiss a duck when she hadn't even kissed HIM yet?
Sigh.
"Fine, I'll kiss the duck." The ducks loved her anyway, duh. She leaned over a little and kissed the duck's head.
"Kiss it?!" Taryn looked at Auggie like he had lobsters crawling out of his ears. "What? Why?" Was this some sort of unspoken test? Why did Auggie want her to kiss a duck when she hadn't even kissed HIM yet?

August continued to hold the duck out for her, leaning back himself since the thing was obviously not so keen at being held and forced to kiss a human. Poor thing.
After Taryn had actually kissed the duck, on the head (he was glad she had opted for that rather than the beak because he didn't want to have to rush her to the hospital wing for pinched lips) August released the bird which flew over to the water and swam quickly away.
"You did it. I'm so proud." He said grinning from ear to ear and trying not to laugh. She was a trooper alright now he just needed to get her to kiss him.

"Exactly." Taryn was right. He was really lucky to have someone like her, who was once just a really good friend and now is his girlfriend. Many people couldn't say that they were this lucky.
Now she was wondering about his injury from the last Quidditch matc he played. It really wasn't serious but it did hurt. "It's getting better. Wanna see?" he said eagerly? Maybe it was just that he was a boy and that they enjoyed gross stuff like that but the fact that Taryn wasn't one didn't stop him from lifting up his shirt to show her the purple and yellow bruise about the size of an apple in the center of his chest.

I'm sure she won't stay angry for long. She's going through a lot." Plus he clearly cared for her, that much was obvious. She must see it too. Ella felt herself smile when Harvey did. "That's good, I'm sure she could use it." Ella would try and think of something to cheer her up as well. "Well, Logan and I saw a skrewt on the pathways and it er-it kind of attacked us!" Ella said, wide eyed. "Then the same skrewt showed up in CoMC! I swear, the creatures are going wild at Hogwarts." Except the pygmy puffs. They were cute and little and sweet.

So, Taryn had just been expecting a report, not a visual, but suddenly Auggie was lifting her shirt and showing off the bruise he had. Boys.
BOYS.
"Ew." Taryn wrinkled her nose and waved her hand in his direction, the gesture clearly said 'put that away'. "That looks simply awful."

It didn't mean she would get one, but she was going to sort of try to. At the very least, she wanted to go outside and get some fresh air now that it was no longer dreadfully cold like it was in the winter.
She'd brought a textbook and a few pieces of parchment with her notes outside with her, searching for the perfect spot to sit down and study for a bit. It wasn't the ideal thing to do when one was outside, but she was willing to compromise - it was either study inside, waste the time she could be outside in the sun, and not fail the NEWTs; study outside, appreciate the sunshine, and not fail the NEWTs; or play outside, enjoy the sun, and fail the NEWTs. The right choice was obvious.
Unfortunately, it was also a bit windy out today, and one of her pieces of parchment was not as secure in her book as it should have been - it suddenly slipped from between the pages and started fluttering away.
"Noooo!" she cried, trying to snatch it from the air, but it flew just out of her reach. "Merlin's beard!" She HAD to catch that paper!

Ella nodded, it was scary! She then turned to Logan, forgetting she had not told him about class. "Yeah, the skrewt showed up and starting farting fire again! Oakey and I couldn't believe it." Seriously, it was like the creature was following them or something. The first year smiled at the mention of Peeta. "Oh yeah, Peeta! He's not scary or wild...Peeta is Logan's cat." Just in case Harvey was wondering.
"Just a couple of bruises. No big deal." The first year said with a shrug. It definitely could have been worse. She shivered at the mention of the giant spider. Spiders were the worst! "You're lucky you haven't run into anything, Harvey!"

Harvey listened to Logan as he talked "Thats cool Logan.. great things to do at school" he smiled he then listened to them both as they spoke about running into those creatures.. "Well I am glad you two werent injured seriously." he smiled and became wide-eyed as Logan said that he had run into a giant spider.. "Woah!.. wow it did?" he asked as he listened to Logan "Well I too hope that whatever is in the forest is gone so that these creatures can go back into the forest" he smiled as he turned to Ella as she spoke and he listened about the skewt "Well glad it was just bruises and nothing more like burns or anything.. although even those bruises can be painful as well" he said as she shuddered as Logan spoke of the spider. "Yeah! I guess I am lucky that I havent run into anything" and so is Minnie.. he finished in his head.. they were both lucky not to have run into anything.. "Oh ok.. yeah Peeta.. I think I remember meeting him" he said as Ella clarified to him that Peeta was Logan's cat.
So, Taryn had just been expecting a report, not a visual, but suddenly Auggie was lifting her shirt and showing off the bruise he had. Boys.
BOYS.
"Ew." Taryn wrinkled her nose and waved her hand in his direction, the gesture clearly said 'put that away'. "That looks simply awful."
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
Darn, not the reaction he was looking for.
"Well, battle scars aren't the same as beauty marks Taryn." He said with a pout, though not much behind it. He lowered his shirt again and continued to walk. He had opted out of a potion or cream from the school healer but he probably should have gotten it. Oh well.
