Ducks, fifteen in all and quite possibly already named, live in this pond. Go on, take a seat on the rocky ledge and dip your feet into the water! Rest assured, these ducks will not bite, but if you just so happen to have any type of bread or cookies on you at the time, the ducks have been known to take without asking.
Waylon keeps a good eye on the pond and the ducks, so no funny business.
Make sure who she was friends with? He was trying to act like her brother again. -_- Good thing she didn't actually HAVE an older, overprotective brother. "I know who I'm friends with, Hunter. But thank you," She said with an eye roll. Even though knowing who she was friends with wasn't hard since she only had a handful of friends. Still.
She was about to say 'deal' when she couldn't help but think about it. The answer was already there. It had always been there but maybe it had taken this conversation to dig it out.
"What if I decided what I wanted a long time ago?"
Hunter thought long and hard about her question and figured he already knew what the decision was. That was probably why he kept trying so hard to get her to stop being friends with Mikey in the first place. Finally, he came up with an answer. "Well then I hope you're making the right decision." He shrugged while saying this and then heard his stomach growl much louder than expected. "And," he said while picking Milton up in one hand and picking his bag up in his other hand. "I believe you've got a...friend...you've got to sort things out with now." He looked her straight in the eye, "Say goodbye to Milton?" If it wasn't for the duck, they probably wouldn't have made it this far anyway.

She nodded with a smile, swallowing the last bite of her sandwich. "And.. let's keep the apology thing to a minimum. We can act like friends now." Pause. "You know without the formality of apologizing for more than once in one hour," chuckling as she said that.
Louisa absently started eating red grapes from the fruit bowel he placed on the blanket before, listening to him as he talked more than one sentence which was quite a feat. At his 'See?' though, she raised her eyebrows. "It's really fine, Emrys." She wasn't getting how his mind worked in social life. "I don't mind the way you've held yourself with me so far." Even if he didn't shake paws with Viola or laugh at her duckie news, she didn't like being with a nodder.
Then he stammered and blurted out the baby house-elf question. She shrugged one shoulder, "Yeah, my friends told me that too. It's not easy. Being... attached to someone to an extent and then everything turns out to chaos and wounds." Dramatic last word but Louisa was a queen drama when it came to relationships anyway. Leaning her chin on her knees, she asked him "Did you ever have a girlfriend?" He was homeschooled and kept himself in a bubble, it was highly unlikely but you never know.
The baby house-elf could wait. They weren't here to just chat about school- well, they were but Louisa was determined to get to know him better.
"I'm so-" and he immediately began to laugh. Holding the back of his neck with his hand, he shook his head. "I was going to do it again. I guess I just don't really know what's ok and what's not in social situations. I'm super confident when it comes to school, but have to talk to someone? Ball of nerves." He laughed, nervously.
Listening to her talk about.. whatever his name was.. Emrys started to feel a little funny, and took a sip of his butterbeer as he listened to her talk. It sounded... awful.
But he nearly choked on his butterbeer at her question. "Me?" He felt his ears get hot as he met her eyes. His cheeks flushed. "I can barely talk to you without tripping over my tongue. Girls... tend not to like me."

Louisa smiled widely at him and shook her head when he almost apologized again. "We're working on that." She popped another grape in her mouth. "It's a pity that you think too much about what you're expected to say or not to say. I don't really think of it like that." The girl stared thoughtfully at him, not really seeing his face. A moment passed before she snapped back to earth and gave the boy an apologetic smile for finding no comforting answer to him.
She wasn't that good with helping people get over their uncomfortable issues. Maybe she'd use some kind of potion and set him with a blind date? He could practice with her too. Great. Now she just needed to teach him how to... talk.
"You don't know whether girls tend to love you or not. You're not giving them a chance to know you." She dropped her knees to the ground and sat a bit straighter, "For example, how many girls have you gone out with a nice picnic beside myself?" Pause. "Don't answer that, by the way." She was just making a point.
And to not make him uncomfortable, Louisa went back to popping grapes into her mouth. "And yes, there is a baby house-elf in the castle. Born last year." And he ruined the decoration at the end-of-term feast last term but that wasn't necessary really. "He's quite the troublemaker too." Well she couldn't let that within.

Emrys furrowed his brow. "It's not so much that I think about what I'm expected to say, at least not before. It's that I over analyze after." He reached for a grape as well. "Which is really helpful when I'm dealing with school work, the analyzing bit, that is."
He looked away, feeling her eyes on him. But his eyes shot up when she asked about girls and picnics. He was about to say none when she stopped him.
"Can I be honest?" He paused, and decided not to wait for an answer. "I went back to my room yesterday completely dumbstruck and unable to figure out why someone like you would want to have a picnic with someone like me."
He reached into the basket and pulled out a platter of what seems to be a variety of pigs in a blanket, potato puffs and mini quiche, still warmed from whatever charm had been cast. "Hmm," he said, digging further, and coming up with a little bowl of mustard. "Those elves thought of everything," he muttered.
And speaking of elves... "No, I didn't see a baby," he said. "But I'm surprised I didn't know. I... tend to wander into the kitchen a fair bit."
Hunter thought long and hard about her question and figured he already knew what the decision was. That was probably why he kept trying so hard to get her to stop being friends with Mikey in the first place. Finally, he came up with an answer. "Well then I hope you're making the right decision." If it wasn't for the duck, they probably wouldn't have made it this far anyway.
"I think I am," was the only reply she could come up with. Hailey rolled her eyes as his stomach growled but couldn't help grinning either. As he stood up and grabbed Milton, she nodded at him.
"Yeah, you're right." Looks like she would be hunting down Mikey soon.
Before he left, though, Hailey smiled and took Milton in her hands.
"Goodbye Milton. I'm sorry for throwing you in the pond," She whispered to the duck. "And thank you for telling me the truth," She added. She gave him a peck on his beak and then returned him to his owner.
And then she had to hug the owner, too. Cause he was just awesome in so many ways.
"Thanks, Hunter."
And now, she had to go find that best friend of hers.
Emrys furrowed his brow. "It's not so much that I think about what I'm expected to say, at least not before. It's that I over analyze after." He reached for a grape as well. "Which is really helpful when I'm dealing with school work, the analyzing bit, that is."

Overanalyze. Hmm. Louisa paused before commenting on that, "It's because you care about people. A little bit too much maybe." But again, she wasn't the person to give moral analysis to others. "And about school work, you're apparently a really good independent thinker." No kidding.
Someone like her? Louisa chuckled softly at his spontaneous sentence, "Someone like me?" Oops, that didn't help very much. She cleared her throat and tried again, "I like the way you think. And we got along very well yesterday so.. why not?" Even if he counted this as a date, it wasn't like Louisa was against it. She only was tired of getting worked up over how to trust someone and see correctly into them. Maybe going with the flow would do her better this time.
Helping herself to one of the mini quiches, Louisa nodded confirming her story. "They're probably keeping him under their noses. He made a lot of havoc the end of last term. Cute little creature but gets on your nerves sometimes as does a younger brother." She swallowed a bite, "Do you have any siblings?" Getting-to-know-you question.
catch you tomorrow :) I'll be sporadic during the day.

Emrys felt himself blush as he popped a couple pigs-in-a-blanket in his mouth. Yeah, someone like you, he wanted to say. Someone pretty, intelligent and at least apparently socially aware. But mostly the pretty.
He let it go, nodding as she told the story about the baby elf. He smiled at her description. He could only imagine the havoc a baby house elf could cause.
Putting his hands behind his head, he laid down on the blanket, looking up at the sky. "I have a younger sister," he said softly. "She's eight and so different from me," he began. "She's bold and confident and she tells me that I'm her hero." His voice caught in his throat, thinking about the day when she realized her hero was nothing but a bumbling coward. "Her name is Amelia."
Emrys tried to discreetly wipe his eyes. He missed her. A lot. And the thought of letting her down and made him rather reflective. And perhaps a little teary.

Ella walked down to the duck pond carrying a sleeve of crackers, a smile on her face. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and it was finally spring. The only down side to all of this was that the term would be over soon. Ella really wasn't ready for that.
Finding an empty spot on the rocky ledge of the pond, Ella began crinkling the package of crackers to get the ducks attention. Before she knew it, she had a nice little crowd of ducks before her, eagerly awaiting food. "Alright, here it comes!" She said, smiling. She began tossing the crackers into the water, giggling as the ducks went after each one.
Laura decided it was time for a walk and time to have some fun. "QUACK!!" "QUACK!!" Laura did that everytime a duck would, hoping to see if she could get it right, it would be a laugh to go into a lesson and make some animal noice and if she could get it right the Professor couldn't blame her.

Logan walked down to the Duck Pond, and spotted Ella feeding the ducks. He smiled, she was so cute. He grinned and snuck up behind her, and hugged her. "Heya, Gummy Girl!" he said in his manly voice.

Ella felt someone suddenly hugging her and a smile appeared on her face. She was hoping she would see him today. At his voice, a soft laugh escaped her lips. She coudln't help but to love his manly voice. "Hiya Candyman!" She said, turning a bit to face him. "Where have you been?" She felt like the entire month of March had passed by so quickly and they hadn't spent much time together. "I missed you." She added softly, a shy smile appearing on her face.
"...Okay." HEHE. Whatever. Taryn giggled. The boy was seriously coming up with some interesting names. Maybe it was time to take a break from that.
She tossed a few more cookie pieces in and then scooted away from the edge of the water, stopping to sit beside him. "Can I ask you a question?" She offered another cookie.
"Yeah, that's a good name." August said with a small nod as he looked into the sky and the dark top of the trees in the Forbidden Forest. He had heard from Kurumi and some other students that some of the creatures in there had been coming out and causing trouble on the Grounds but he hadn't, thankfully, been bothered yet.
His thoughts were interrupted by Taryn's voice speaking to him. The fourth year turned as if he was caught day-dreaming in a lesson and smiled as if her question was silly. "Well of couse, what is it Taryn?" He also took the cookie she offered; one couldn't turn that down.

Oh. Err...
It wasn't like she was expecting him to tell her no, but Taryn was a little surprised by his reply. Right. Her question... "Um..." She didn't really want to ask, or anything, because she was hoping that she didn't get the answer she didn't want to hear...
But it was bothering her.
"Did you have a crush on Tori last year?" She sort of... spilled it? Whoops.

August hadn't reverted his attention back to the forest because Taryn obviously wanted to ask him something of some importance but the way she was starting out sort of worried him. He hadn't done something wrong had he?
Oh, uh....Tori.
He finished his cookie and then sat up on the grass and crossed his legs to lean in, so his face was closer to her's. "Taryn, I don't want to lie to you." Which was good right? She wouldn't be upset if he just told her. "I did but not like how I feel about you. I...I didn't know how I felt about girls really back then. It was just a crush, I really like you." he said, his voice implying just how much he really meant all of that.

She watched him move around like what he was going to say was important. It was important and she was glad that he wasn't taking it as just her being silly.
"It's.. I guess the way he said it sounded like that they just set us up to distract you from liking her." She just wanted to clarify why she'd felt the need to ask about it.
But hey, Auggie just said that he really liked her, so did it matter now if the reason they'd been set up together to begin with wasn't quite one that she liked? At least it had happened, right? She smiled, even though her cheeks were quite red. Maybe she was a little embarrassed about having to ask...

The way he had said it? Who was she talking about? Oh yeah...Pauley had told Taryn that he and Tori had just set the two of them up on their blind date to get him off the trail of his girlfriend. It was sort of true, the Gryffindor supposed.
But he had had some feelings for Taryn. She had been one of his best friends for one and also a day that they were hanging out and she asked if he thought she was pretty came to mind. He was nervous to answer truthfully because he knew it was true. "Well, honestly Taryn, what does Pauley know about us? We're doing just fine if I would say so, what do you think?" he kissed her pink with shyness cheek.

Well sure, sure, that was all true, but Taryn didn't much like being thought of as someone to be used as a distraction. After Auggie kissed her cheek, though, she decided to just let it go.
She giggled too.
"Yeah, I think so too." The redness on her cheeks faded just a bit, "Aspen must think so too, she keeps asking me for advice."

Glad that she seemed to be more cheerful after he assured her he was glad he was with her rather than their Beuxbatons friend, August went back to enjoying their surroundings. The weather was beginning to be pleasurable again and he was glad that they had come down to the pond today.
"Someone ELSE giving advice to Aspen? I thought she was a one woman answer machine?" he joked. Even though he was joking there was some real thought behind that. She always seemed to know the answer to most things, including the one he had given in their last DADA lesson which he had talked with her about over the summer. "How's that going, her and that other Ravenclaw boy?" The Gryffindor had sadly not speaken to her in a while.

Taryn shrugged, "The last I heard from her, she was saying that she wanted to ask her dad's permission to date him, and then she asked me if I asked my dad's permission." To which Taryn had said.. no. She had not.
"And then she asked if YOU asked my dad's permission or if you asked your parents." Mostly that was the gist, there was a lot of talk about permission...
"I don't know what they're up to." She just couldn't keep up with Aspen's questions.

"I thought you only had to ask permission to marry people or go to dances?" August said curiously. He hadn't really thought about asking his parents or Taryn's father, should he have?
Aspen really did make people think, geez. She wasn't even here and Auggie's mind was puzzling over things she had said; he had just been second person Aspen-ed.
O___O
"I don't either, but I wonder if anyone does really?" he said with a chuckle. Who knew what Ravenclaws did.
Feeling more like her usual self than ever, Brooke decided to take a walk down to the duck pond. She always seemed to forget how bored she got and how quickly she became bored. So, by the time she got there, she had realized her mistake, but was entirely too lazy to go back up to the castle to get something to keep her brain occupied.
So, instead, she decided now was as good a time as any to work on her tan. Or.. something. She wasn't into that really, but decided there was nothing else she could possibly do. The blond took a seat at the edge of the pond, pulling off her shoes and placing them gently beside her, before dipping her feet in and tilting her head back.
Merlin, she should have brought something.

Logan returned Ella's smile, feeling those butterflies again. "You have the cutest smile, Ella.." he said outloud, smiling sheepishly. He then laughed. "Deserve what..?" he asked, watching curiously as she took out a couple of chocolate frogs. He blushed as she took his hand, feeling those stupid butterflies again. He took his and opened it. "Say, do you want Mr. Ron Weasley again? I keep getting him!" he said with a moan, then adding quickly, "n-not that I don't like him. It's just I have about like six hundred of him!" he said with a laugh.
Logan laughed. "Hmm...you're right! Who wouldn't?" he asked, winking at her.

Ella blushed when Logan commented on her smile. "R-really? Yours is pretty cute too..." She said, trying to maintain eye contact. She was suddenly feeling all nervous. Weird because it was Logan she was with, not some stranger. She shrugged it off, watching his reaction when she gave him a chocolate frog. She felt herself grin widely when he blushed. It was so adorable. She snapped out of it when she heard the words Ron Weasley. "Oh I'll uh-I'll take it. No reason in particular...always nice to have a couple in case one gets ruined." She said, trying to hide her elation. She really did have a big crush on the man. She giggled when Logan reassured her that he liked Ron. "I believe you. No worries."
Ella shrugged in response, thinking there were probably several people who didn't like her. She actually had a few in mind at the moment but kept the names to herself. Instead, she decided to share some news with Logan. "You know, I got a chance to hang out with your friend, Taylor, the other day." Ella said, smiling. "She's quite nice, different than I expected. Plus she had a lot of nice things to say about you." She raised her eyebrows a bit when she said this, not quite knowing how she felt about the situation. She really liked Taylor but sensed that Logan and her had had some sort of thing.
