Ducks, fifteen in all and quite possibly already named, live in this pond. Go on, take a seat on the rocky ledge and dip your feet into the water! Rest assured, these ducks will not bite, but if you just so happen to have any type of bread or cookies on you at the time, the ducks have been known to take without asking.
Waylon keeps a good eye on the pond and the ducks, so no funny business.
Lana continued to think on as she heard someone approaching. Turning her head from the sky toward the source of the sound, she smiled. By the looks of it was a Hufflepuff, she wondered if she knew her sister.
Raising her hand, she gave a wave. "Hi," she replied from her perch a top the ledge.
This. Is. Awkward.
Embarassed of herself, Janice sat next to the girl. She played with the edges of her bleached white blouse for a while before she decided that it would be nice for her to pick up a conversation. "I'm Janice, what's your name?"
"You're welcome," she grinned down on him. Scourgify it? Why, sure. Ellie'd want the same thing done if it were her bun. She just gave it a chance in case Messer didn't mind duck germs. He was a boy, after all. Aidan was a boy. And she doubted Aidan would mind. Then again, her brother was WEIRD. She aimed her wand at the bun again, "Scourgify. There. Should be good now." The thing about that was, though, you couldn't SEE if the spell had worked or not. But Ellie was excellent in Charms despite ONLY getting an E on the OWL and was confident that it had worked. Scourgify was more Transfiguration anyway, wasn't it?
Before Messer'd get a chance to chow down on his bun, though, Ellie pulled him in for a tight head!hug. "Congratulations, by the way! Hufflepuff like you wanted, right?" And she was happy for him, despite how strongly she still felt that he would have made a nice addition to Ravenclaw, and how jealous she was of Hufflepuff.
Messer watched Ellie in awe when she scourgify his bun. Even though he grew up in wizarding family seeing someone doing some magic always amazed him. The bun looks the same to him, he just hoped that the duck germ already gone, he's not really that fond with germ. "Thanks again, Ellie." Wow! Ellie is definitely a bun life saver.
He was about to chew his bun when Ellie pulled him in a head hug. "Yes. Thanks Ellie." he gave the older girl a cheeky grin. He felt a little disappointed that he's not in the same house like her. But they still could meet each other, right? And he remembered that Ellie said that she still want to talk to him even though he's not sorted in Ravenclaw. "I want to go to your table during the feast but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do that or not." he said unsure.

Dallin was frowning. Siiiigh. Ellie grinned and nudged him in the side with her elbow. "Oh, lighten up. I'm teasing, you goober." Yeah, he was a goober. "I'm happy to see you," she said, stepping forward. Ellie reached up and pinched his ickle cheeks before kissing him lightly.
And then her attention went back to the ducks.
"Aren't they cuuuute?!" Ellie giggled, walking back to the edge of the pond. There were so many. Ripping off another chunk of her sandwich, Ellie threw it in the pond. It hit a duck in the head and she giggled as she watched it shake it off and nom on the sandwich.
"Dallin, come try this it's fun!" Ellie giggled again, waving her sandwich at him. DUCKIESWERESOCUTE.
Dallin... was pouting. Even though Ellie said she was happy to see him and she kissed his cheek. She also called him a goober and pinched his cheek. And her attention went right back to the ducks.
So he would continue to pout. His ego was a little hurt, to be honest. Ellie chose ducks over him, for Merlin's sake!
He had to admit, though; she was cute when she giggled. And her enthusiasm about the ducks was kind of funny. But Dallin wouldn't admit that just yet. He stayed still, just watching her as she went back to feed the ducks some of her sandwich. And then he couldn't really resist her anymore. With a sigh, he walked over to her again, holding his hand out for a piece of her sandwich. "They're cute," he said, finally answering her question from ealier. A nice addition to the grounds.

"Of course, of course!" Alec said, grinning at his best friend, "That's true. Especially when the really rich kids are involved. They always think they're going to win against us." And then they fail miserably. Suckers.
Good spots? For kite flying... He didn't know. "Maybe somewhere around the grounds? There are plenty of grassy areas here and there," See? He had been right about Hogwarts being a castle with grass here and there. In a way. "I like the lake better. That can be our new kite flying spot!"
Anya smiled and took the bread. She broke small pieces and tossed them in the pond... just like she did at the park back home. She smiled when she spied his lunch box. "You brought yours too then?" Her Hello Kitty one was up in her dormitory.
She giggled and flashed Alec a smile. Yes, they were the champions of any kite flying competition. "We'll have to be sure to practice while we're here. We wouldn't want to get rusty."
"The lake it is!" she agreed. "We can check it out after we finish with the ducks." Because it was more important that the ducks were fed.

"Hufflepuff's a good house, you know," she said as she released him. Though, of course he knew. He'd wanted it for a reason. Ellie laughed softly, "It's very much allowed. Inter-house mingling is strongly encouraged here." Heh. But, of course, students could sit at any table they wished to. Ellie could be found sitting at the Hufflepuff table on occasion when she wanted something different. Hufflepuff, because she felt she had a good excuse for being there, and it would just be awkward at the other tables.

Continuing to toss sandwich bits at the ducks, Ellie had a bright grin on her face. Maybe she and Dallin could grow up, get married, and raise little ducks in their backyard. Who needed kids anyways? All they did was scream and poop. At least ducks quacked.
Finally, Dallin came over to her. She split the rest of her sandwich in half and gave some to Dallin. "Here you go," she said cheerfully. Then Ellie noticed a duck wandering over to them. "Lookit!" Ellie whispered, pointing for Dallin. Then, she crouched down and held out a bit of her sandwich in an attempt to lure the duck over.

"Yes, I know" He practically want to be sorted in that house even though some of the Huffie new recruits didn't agree with him. There even a girl who was yelling that she didn't want to be a Hufflepuff during the feast. That girl was mental.
"Oh okay." He should remembered that he could go wonder off to other houses table and maybe they have different foods. Nom. Nom. Speaking of food he still hasn't eat his bun. "Do you want some?" he asked Ellie. Messer wished that he brought more bun with him its feel not right offering Ellie his already touched bun thanks to the ducky.

Heeeere duckie, duckie, duckiieeee...
Meh. Ellie must really, really like those ducks. Because she was sure paying a lot of attention to them. Dallin sighed, watching her silently as she handed her half of the rest of her sandwich. And her quiet voice... that was kind of cute. She didn't want to scare that new duck away, probably.
Deciding to just play along, Dallin crouched down by her slowly and held out a piece of bread. "Duck," he called quietly, leaning forward a little and waving the bread, trying to get the duck's attention. "Duuuuck, come heeeere," There were a few other ones eating the bread... this one should be feeling left out by now. It should want to know what it was missing out on.

"I hear the Common Room's pretty nice," she offered as conversation. She still felt her Common Room was the best, but...whatever flew the Badgers' broomsticks. "Right near the kitchens is cool." Ellie HAD to give them that. Their middle of the night snacks must be so much better. All she had was what she kept in her cauldron, which was a mix of different sweets.
It was cute to her that firsties were always uncertain of nearly everything. But they quickly learned the ropes. And then they got in trouble.
Hmm? Some of his bun? "No, thanks." Really, she'd eaten already. And the duck already had a bite. Messer should enjoy what was left of his own bun.

"Yes its pretty nice. The couches are the BEST." he exclaimed happily. His female prefect didn't lie about that one. The couches are really comfy. "Yes, its near the kitchen." But he might avoiding the kitchen at all cost or more like avoiding those house elves. He still wish they have a tower like the Ravenclaw or Gryffindor but he's pretty satisfied with the Huffie's common room.
"Umm..Okay." That mean more for him. Hehehe..
"So, is the Ravenclaw gonna start the try out soon?" he asked. One thing he regretted being sorted into Hufflepuff that he won't be playing in the same team as Ellie that if he's accepted in his house team.

Laura laughed, she might as well let her sister join in.
"Those were some good old time." Laura sighed, she missed them but well they didn't live in Luton and she had no idea if the ponds where still there maybe they have been moved somewhere else. "I remember how we got told off by mummy when we went and played in the ponds just before we moved." Laura then smiled as she heard the next question. "Oh it's great I've got a friend called Sophie who is in our year and then there this older guy who's name I can't say so we've decided just to call him Gust, and the head boy is in our house he's called Sir Head Hufflepuff Boy." Laura giggled.
"Well, it isn't like it would have been hard to find me." For some reason she really didn't think Laura had meant to run into her, but she would let that pass for the moment. It wasn't like they had planned to meet up or anything, but she had just assumed that her sister would want to touch bases before things things got busy. "I heard about the Whomping Willow. I was thinking about going over there later, I kind of want to see it for myself. And the lake of course. I heard there is a giant squid in there as well. I wonder if he's nice." Maybe this squid would be as nice as the ducks.
Smiling as she thought back about those times, she nodded. "Mummy was not happy at all with us, but we did have to say goodbye to all the ducks in the pond. To leave without a goodbye is just rude." They had tried to tell their mother that, but they still ended up in trouble over it.
Her sister had made friends already and she had only really, kind of made one friend so far. She seriously had to get on it fast if she didn't want to be friendless all term. "Sir Head Hufflepuff Boy? I think the head girl is in my house. I haven't met her yet, but I bet she's really nice." She had seen the head girl in passing, but she wasn't the type to just go up and take to an older student like that.
Just as she was about to suggest they go explore, she saw her sister jump to the defence of the ducks. Standing back, she just shook her head. They had promised their parents they wouldn't get into trouble and here Laura was about to get into trouble. She knew that there wasn't really much she could do if there was a fight. She promised their father, they would behave and it looked liked she would be the one to keep that promise.
Attempting to grab Laura's arm, she missed just as she noticed what Laura was doing. Hugging a boy?!?! Seriously, what was her twin thinking at the moment. Stepping back more, she shook her head again. If her twin wanted to make a scene, she would just watch and then poke fun at her later.

Lana turned her attention back to the girl she waved at before and smiled. Maybe making a new friend would distract her from the mess her twin was making of things.
"I'm Lana, it's nice to meet you," she replied as she offered her hand. "That's my twin, Laura." she added as she motioned toward where she last saw her sister. "I'm a Ravenclaw. Are you a HUfflepuff like my sister?" The robes their were both wearing did look very similar and if they were both 'puff; she could make a new friend in the same house as her sister. Janice could so be her first other house friend. Yes, that would be so exciting.

Oh, good. Dallin had joined her on the ground. Ellie grinned as he started calling for the duck. N'aww, he was being such a good sport. Ellie didn't know if he actually liked the ducks as much as she did, but if he didn't, he was doing a good job at pretending.
Waving more bread at the duck, Ellie watched it as it apprehensively made it's way over there. Ellie's eyes widened with excitement. "Dallinlookhereitcomes!" She whispered excitedly. But the duck heard her and stopped, looking around. Ellie clamped a hand over her mouth to shush herself and held back a giggle. Gollywaffles, this was fun.

Laura looked at the crazy Hufflepuff boy and then back to her sister she didn't want to get into trouble on the first day and she knew that if she did then her sister would tell her mother and then she would be in trouble.
"Cool then she will be Miss Ravenclaw Head Girl." Laura giggled, "I can't wait to meet her, I wonder if Sir Hufflepuff Head Boy is related to her." Laura wasn't sure but they probably was, well she would find out sooner rather than later.
As her sister made a grab for her arm she moved, she wanted to get this Hufflepuff Boy but maybe she would do it somewhere less public. "I don't think you have a heart otherwise you wouldn't hurt the Ducks, your just a mean boy who thinks you can go around hurting things." Laura snapped at him. "I'm going to keep a close eye on you." Laura said before decided to go back and join her sister.
"Lana, why did you back away?" Laura sighed, surely her sister didn't want to see the ducks hurt but then again maybe her sister was starting to become more interesting in making friends then helping her save the ducks, Laura looked at her sister and waited for an answer.
Katie smirked, as much as she loved Ravenclaw she wasn't going to let them win without a fight, she liked winning, it wasn't everything, but it was always fun to win, no matter what others thought about winning, Katie was defaintly going to make sure they won the quidditch cup, because quidditch was FULLY AWESOME! yer it was, "Oh don't worry, we have this year in the bag, were going to have another threepeet have you heard?" Katie said back in a jokey way, that was so cool last year how Slytherin won everything, and they were going to do it again, because Katie was going to make the team for quidditch, and earn hundreds of house points, and for the gobstones, they won't want her help since she isn't that good at it.
"He's that mean is he?" Katie raised an eyebrow, maybe she shouldn't meet him iif thats true, but then again, she might be able to bring out his nice side, right? Katie laughed as Erin asked about that it was Katie's OWL year, "Unfortunately" Katie joked, she wasn't looking forward to it until she had studied properly, "Well, not really, I need to pay attention in classes and I need to study a lot, but I just can't get myself to go down alone and read books about stuff, though I love reading, I love reading fiction" Katie shrugged her shoulders, it was never fun to study.
Katie laughed, "Nah" Katie said, she tried to remember Nora... Nora, wait, she had met the girl! But only brefely so they hardly knew each other, "Now that I'm think about it I do know her, we were serpent sidekicks" Katie nodded, she loved that program, she hoped she got a lovely newbie this year. THE LIZARD HAD NO NAME?!?! OH NOES!! Katie had to help with name ideas!! But was Katie full of name idas? Not really... at least not for lizards that is. She looked to the left and right, was it bad that the only idea she had was Duck? She wasn't going to tell a girl to call her lizard Duck, would she? Katie has done some crazy things before, is this another one? "Duck" Katie laughed, she was joking, unless Erin actually did actually called it duck, then she wasn't, Katie started to think of odd names for the lizard.
Erin let Katelyn do her part of raising her house's pride. They truly won the House Cup many times, well, that's what the older students say. Erin just came to Hogwarts last term, so she really couldn't know that much. 'Goodluck then," Erin smiled.
And Erin's voice rise again. That mean guy, un-gentleman and so stubborn, "He is that mean!" If Erin saw him again, she'll never let the day pass not doing something to punish him. And from the OWLs, Erin's interest was directed to Katelyn's interest in fiction books too. Just like her. "Same here. Before, I would say," Erin smiled again. "Would you believe if I tell you, I never went up the Hogwarts library before?" Because Erin hated books, well, just the library itself.
"Serpent sidekicks?" That was a new word. "What do you mean by that?" But because Erin was a Ravenclaw, she should be having a say on this. "Like someone help someone?" Erin wished she was right. And then, before Erin could even let out a breath, Katelyn was saying something bout ducks! She was really loud. "Duck?" Oh! It just occurred to Erin, Katelyn was suggesting a name for the lizard. Duck? Was the lizard a duck?

A duck pond, very interesting
Raven walked herself to the pound, she stared to the ducks. So, cute. One word that she rarely mention.
she sat near the pond, watched the ducks swimming.
"I think they need to add swan here."

Katie giggled as she heard Erin wish Slytherin good luck, "And good luck to you too" Katie said, winking to Erin, if Slytherin didn't win she hoped Ravenclaw would win instead, because they were awesome, Katie was the ravenclaw-loving slytherin!
"Sorry to hear you met him then" Katie shrugged her shoulders, she could tell by Erin's tone of voice that she defiantly hated him, though she shouldn't really meet him as he sounded very mean, she was interested to meet him and see how really mean he was in fact, she was odd like that wanting to meet mean people. "Things that aren't real seem so much more interesting" Katie nodded, and then she was gobsmacked, never been to the library?!?!? That was.... Did she really believe that? "Seriously? How come?" Katie asked, with a little awkward laugh.
Katie was confused then remembered, Erin was a Ravenclaw, she wouldn't know what it is, "Its when older students and first years buddy up, the older students help them find their way around Hogwarts and that" Katie nodded, she loved the program, it was a good way to make friends, Katie nodded as Erin got it sort of right. Katie laughed as Erin repeated what Katie had suggested, "What about... Ursula?" Katie giggled remembering the disney movie she loved lots.

Dallin stayed completely still and silent as he watched the duck coming close to them. It didn't seem afraid or anything, which was good. These were probably friendly ducks, which was awesome. Dallin just hoped that they weren't some magical fire-breathing ducks or something. That would be a real disappointment.
Aww, it stopped. Dallin tipped his head to look at Ellie; she had startled it. He was going to say something, but stopped because she had put a hand over her mouth; Dallin could tell she was holding back laughter or something. "Shh," he said quietly before turning back to the duck. It hadn't moved. Biting his lip to keep himself from saying anything he waved his bread again. Just a little closer, duck. Come see us...

Ooooh a cute little duck pond!!! wait scratch that Oh a duck pond... She couldn't help it she was so in loovveee with animals big and small furry or not cute or ugly Nah she prefered cute ones but the point was she loved animals and a duck pond was a great addition to the Hogwarts grounds especially since she'd never been near a duck pond or fed the ducks for four years! She sat down and took out her book and cookies which she got from the little house elves....
She smiled at the girl beside her, What was it with younger students and when she said younger, younger than her this girl was defently a second year she saw her last year before... so there was no doubt about it! So the only logical reason was that second years were multiplying!!!! ''Hi,''
She opened her book and started reading bt it was obvious it wasn't what she was going to do in the end... she sighed

She smiled at the girl beside her, What was it with younger students and when she said younger, younger than her this girl was defently a second year she saw her last year before... so there was no doubt about it! So the only logical reason was that second years were multiplying!!!! ''Hi,''
She opened her book and started reading bt it was obvious it wasn't what she was going to do in the end... she sighed
When she stared to the cute ducks and tossed corn flakes to them, Raven noticed that there was a girl beside and smiled to her.
"Oh, Hi!" Raven smiled to her. "A duck pond, was it great? Do you love animals?" she asked. Raven hoped she didn't bother the girl who looked older than her.

A duck pond???
This definitely wasn't here last year! After adjusting the strap slung over his shoulder, Paulie marched over to the cluster of rocks at the edge of the pond. Ducks were a cool animal, he had concluded. They were kinda weird.. they made nasally noises and walked real weird when they were out of the water, but those were the things that made them funny! And likable, in Paulie's case. Hence, it was no surprise that a second later the sixth year dropped his bag to the ground and dug around in it, searching. Voila! Here it was: a fresh blueberry muffin that he had snagged from the Great Hall this morning at breakfast. He took a bite off the top for himself - because muffin tops were the best part - then crumbled off a few bits and tossed them in the water for the duckies.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

Really?! Did he not know that ducks were scared of people screaming? "Look, you screamed, they flew," she said a little calmer now after seeing him cringe. Okay, she could've been a little nicer about it. But she loved feeding ducks! "It's okay, just don't do it again, please. And sorry for being such a brat about it." See there's her nicer side, back again!
Daichi looked towards the pond and at the cute little ducks swimming in the water. He looked back at the girl his age and nodded his head. "Yeah okay" he muttered.
Now that the awkardness was somewhat gone, the Slytherin looked better at the girl and noticed she was from the same house and... if not a bit familiar... "Aren't you that girl who threw a stinkbomb in a meeting last year?" he asked as he furrowed his brows in wonder. He then shrugged and did a little bow as in greeting. "I'm Daichi by the way, third year" He didn't need to point out he was in Slytherin when there was a badge on his chest right?
The BEST couches? Well, now that was just making her jealous. Ravenclaw couches were....so-so. Ellie supposed it was because they didn't think Ravies would be prone to lounging around, and more likely to use the study tables. Pfffft.
"Have you visited the kitchens, then? You can get SO much more there than you'll find in the Great Hall." And, as proved by Treyen, you can request things. Like gelato. Teehee.
Which TOTALLY gave her an idea, by the way, but she'll think more on it later.
Her eyes drifted the the ducks swimming on the pond as he ate his bun. But the terms 'Ravenclaw' and 'tryouts' quickly shook her from her thoughts. "Pretty soon. I'll give more time for sign ups, then hold the tryouts." She wanted to make sure anyone who wanted to had put their name on the sheet. "Have you signed up for Hufflepuff?"

"The lake it is!" she agreed. "We can check it out after we finish with the ducks." Because it was more important that the ducks were fed.
Alec smiled back as he reached into his lunchbox and took out some bread. He tore off a piece and threw it into the pond before taking another piece and stuffing it in his mouth. Om nom nom nom! His lunchbox? Alec looked down at the Superman figure on his lunchbox and then up at Anya. He gulped the last of the bread before saying, "You brought the kitty?" This is exactly why they were best friends. Anya could practically read his mind.
Alec grinned and sat back slightly. "Right!" he said, nodding, "We could have our champions title taken away." By those rich kids who thought they were the best kite fliers around. He was not going to let this happen anytime soon.
"Ducks first, kite flying later," he said, throwing another piece of bread into the water. He watched the ducks for a bit before turning to Anya. "What happens if people ask to join in?" With their kites and all.

She smirked. "I'd like to see them try." Everyone knew they were the best in the region. Probably the whole world! If... you know... they had the money to compete in bigger tournaments.
Anya tossed another few pieces into the water. "To feed the ducks?" she asked. "I think we have enough bread for a person or two."

Wandering the grounds, in absence of Pam and Jez, was Nathaniel Stone. He was sort of relieved that the two others weren't with him this time, as his reckless exploring had to be just as spontaneous as he was. Nate's level of spontaneity was hard to achieve.
Winding through trees, rolling down hills, doing dive-rolls en every clearing, Nafe felt like he was seven again, only this time he was wearing robes. That made it about five, maybe seven times cooler than when he was actually seven, playing spy in his backyard. After what only felt like a second of ecstasy, Nate found himself leaning precariously over a pool of water. "Huh?" he asked out loud, inspecting his surroundings. "This is new!" He had heard rumors of a duck pond, but naturally thought it was just mindless chatter. After all the drama in Ravenclaw last year, anything could just be a made up story. But most of it was true, and most was directly related to him...
Nate counted the ducks he could see as he took a seat, cross-legged, on one of the larger rocks by the pond. Fifteen, he thought. Fifteen ducks. He searched his pockets for anything edible, finding nothing but a chocolate frog that he honestly did not know the origins of. Breaking that frog into small chunks and tossing them haphazardly into the pond, Nate watched as the ducks scrambled over the treat. It was odd that nobody was really around...
