Ducks, fifteen in all and quite possibly already named, live in this pond. Go on, take a seat on the rocky ledge and dip your feet into the water! Rest assured, these ducks will not bite, but if you just so happen to have any type of bread or cookies on you at the time, the ducks have been known to take without asking.
Waylon keeps a good eye on the pond and the ducks, so no funny business.

Minerva had come down to the Duck Pond. She couldn't believe that the ducks were actually out in the water as cold as it was. She looked up at the sky. It was a bit cloudy, but the sun was coming through. She got into her bag and pulled out the sundial and her journal. Setting her sundial down she noticed a cloud had just come over the sun. So she watched to the ducks for awhile. Once the cloud had gone Minerva looked down at the sundial. It was still not showing a time where she had the sundial sitting. Minerva looked up at the sky and back to her sundial. She decided that maybe she needed to move it to a different location. She got up and moved it to the left of her. As she sat it down she saw a shadow come off of it. She made the clock motion that had helped her figure out the time before and decided that it was 4 p.m. She wrote this in her journal and then placed both things in her bag and headed back to the astronomy tower to turn both the sundial and the nocturnal dial back into the professor.

’Muggle books… Never. I wish I did, though’, the Ravenclaw smirked. ‘I only read some newspaper articles and some stuff about healing’But that doesn’t count. She really needed to find some interesting muggle book to read- but where could she find one? Hmm.
‘Oh, that’s nice! I would have loved having a sister. Or a brother… but preferably a sister’, she replied and then listened to him say the thing about her not being a witch… probably. ‘I see’, Gwendolyn nodded and narrowed her eyes. Considering Jory’s facial expression, the third year decided to just drop this.
‘Well, the potion didn’t seem to be something interesting’ It did nothing anyway. That means it could have been an epic fail of her dad trying to brew something correctly. ‘Yes, actually… I once started exploring the attic. At a first glance, I thought I wasn’t going to find anything. It was simply a place with too many boxes and random objects thrown in them. I remember finding some old newspapers’ Which she eventually showed to Ari. Yup, probably no one but her bestie would have cared to find out all about the ministry of magic a lot of years ago. Anyway, Gwen didn’t care.
‘And I also came across photo albums of my parents’ and lots of people she didn’t recognize. ‘Hmm… what else was there… books? Phials with potions… Omnioculars… Quidditch equipment’ Yup. Their attic was quite full of Quidditch equipment because both her parents used to be on the team while at Hogwarts. And she didn’t even have the guts to try out… ‘Oh, and something really odd-- Err… never mind’, she said and gestured with her hand. 'Hey- did you ever get to find something interesting...a muggle made object?'
As Gwen burst out laughing at his story, Jory also couldn't suppress his own laughter. "You know, if I'd drown I wouldn't be here. I'd be a star in the sky, as Muggles say." He loved hearing tales of his childhood. "I was a bad kid. I used to like throwing food all over the place. Now, i remember some of that,'' he said reminiscing at the memory of throwing some cereal on his dad's face. 'What about you, Gwen? Do you remember anything particular?"
"It'd be so fun! I wonder what the Egyptians wrote about. There are so many writings all around,'' Jory replied recalling what he saw on TV documentaries. "But imagine that if we're exploring, and a mummy suddenly comes to life!'' he imagined aloud. "That would be so cool!'' Sometimes Jory just like to let his imagination run wild.
"You gotta try some of our books,'' Jory told her. "I've got a few in my trunk, I can lend you if you like. I'm a fan of the crime type. But if you don't like that I've got some that are mystery- they're not so gruesome like the crime type.'' If he hadn't decide to become a Healer, he would have been a detective, like his dad, in the Muggle world.
"They're fun to have around,'' the Huffie to Gwen "But sometimes, they sure do annoy you. One Halloween, Grace wanted to go trick or treating and I didn't want to take her even though I take her very year. I thought I was getting too big to be baby sitting. Anyway, she followed my around the entire day, mimicking me in almost everything I did. She told me I had to take her then she'd stop. So in the end I had to take her.'' Jory had dressed as a vampire and Grace as a witch that year. "Now, she goes with mom cos I'm at school.''
"Your attic sound mysterious,'' Jory said. He liked exploring but sometimes he thought he was poking his nose into others business. "Your folks brewed alot,then?'' He was interested in the Quidditch stuff. "Really? The quidditch gear must be... primitive,'' he said oping Gwen would not feel insulted. "I've never seen any of the older gear.''
The Huffie thought for a moment. "I only found some really old coins in my grand mother's house. They were from all over the world.'' Jory grinned sheepishly. "I, uh, found them when it was her funeral. I was only nine and I was bored so I went exploring.'' He remembered the scolding he got from his mother. Talk about wrong timing for exploring.
"By the way,'' Jory said rummaging through his pocket ''are you allergic to anything?'' He pulled out the vial containing the potion he made in potions class.

But a little confidence didn't hurt anyone, and she was going to continue being confident. Because she really did like it. Maybe it would help her quidditch if she was more confident actually.
"I love christmas." So much. She really couldn't wait to see her parents either. She really did miss her mum when she was at school. Letters weren't the same. But they got to go home soon. That was going to be really fun. She still needed to get her brother something though, and she really had no idea what the get Spike. That could be a problem. Or maybe Spike wouldn't get her something, and then everything would be fine.
"You'll do well Captain Ellie." Indy was sure of it. Ellie was a very good Captain.

Justin walked out to the duck pond and sat down on the bench and pulled the sundial from his bag. Holding it in his hand and making sure he had it pointed in the proper direction. then he saw a cloud going over head and waited for it to pass before reading the dial to see if he could figure out the time. " Hmmm.... Let's see . It looks like it could be close to 3:20 someting but ...." he looked up at the sun. " Yeah, that sounds about right. " then he looked down at his watch and checked the time. " Well, I was close.....3:15...Not bad. " then he put the sundial back into his schoolbag.

Harvey went down to the Duck Pond and decided to start his astronomy homework.. so he took out the sundial that he had collected from the professor’s office.. and it was the afternoon so he knew the sun would be on the west side.. and he knew where north was as he had spent many hours gazing at the stars at the lake with someone he knew.. so he knew where the North star was.. so he put the sundial on the ground facing north and he looked at the dial carefully to read what it was showing him.. he moved in closer to understand what it was showing him.. well the shadow was between 3 and 4 and it looked like it was just over halfway between them.. so he figured that it was around 3:35pm.. upon looking at his watch he saw that it was 3:40pm .. well that’s not bad he thought.. it was fairly accurate.. which was good.. he then put the sundial away and sat on the ground to watch the ducks.

Well some of the ducks returned for food, she'd fed them and let the others come when they were ready. Crossing her legs, the prefect plopped down on the grass and pat patted the spot beside her for the Headmaster. He could totally join her if he wanted.
"I promise. No peaking til I'm well over thirty." She drew a cross over her heart, grinning. The ducks were getting impatient though, and she soon went back to feeding them. "Or at least til I'm done with school completely. I plan on going to university, and I'm not too sure what to expect." Nothing like Hogwarts, that was for certain.

Justin was all bundled up for the winter cold and decided to take a walk down to the duck pond. He didn't find any ducks though. They'd all flown south for the winter. He decided to try the thickness of the ice on the pond. He started to walk across the pond. It was well frozen and thought about how much fun it'd be to go ice fishing.

Harvey listened as Justin said that he couldnt lie to Minnie since she knew him far too well.. "Well.. then I guess you will have to mate.. Oh no... no I am coming with you.. you aint going anywhere on your own in this state. homwork can wait. i can do that anytime even halfway through the night.. now we are BOTH going to the Hospital Wing" he said to Justin as Justin winced in pain.. they then proceeded to make their way to the Hospital Wing..

As Gwen burst out laughing at his story, Jory also couldn't suppress his own laughter. "You know, if I'd drown I wouldn't be here. I'd be a star in the sky, as Muggles say." He loved hearing tales of his childhood. "I was a bad kid. I used to like throwing food all over the place. Now, i remember some of that,'' he said reminiscing at the memory of throwing some cereal on his dad's face. 'What about you, Gwen? Do you remember anything particular?"
"It'd be so fun! I wonder what the Egyptians wrote about. There are so many writings all around,'' Jory replied recalling what he saw on TV documentaries. "But imagine that if we're exploring, and a mummy suddenly comes to life!'' he imagined aloud. "That would be so cool!'' Sometimes Jory just like to let his imagination run wild.
"You gotta try some of our books,'' Jory told her. "I've got a few in my trunk, I can lend you if you like. I'm a fan of the crime type. But if you don't like that I've got some that are mystery- they're not so gruesome like the crime type.'' If he hadn't decide to become a Healer, he would have been a detective, like his dad, in the Muggle world.
"They're fun to have around,'' the Huffie to Gwen "But sometimes, they sure do annoy you. One Halloween, Grace wanted to go trick or treating and I didn't want to take her even though I take her very year. I thought I was getting too big to be baby sitting. Anyway, she followed my around the entire day, mimicking me in almost everything I did. She told me I had to take her then she'd stop. So in the end I had to take her.'' Jory had dressed as a vampire and Grace as a witch that year. "Now, she goes with mom cos I'm at school.''
"Your attic sound mysterious,'' Jory said. He liked exploring but sometimes he thought he was poking his nose into others business. "Your folks brewed alot,then?'' He was interested in the Quidditch stuff. "Really? The quidditch gear must be... primitive,'' he said oping Gwen would not feel insulted. "I've never seen any of the older gear.''
The Huffie thought for a moment. "I only found some really old coins in my grand mother's house. They were from all over the world.'' Jory grinned sheepishly. "I, uh, found them when it was her funeral. I was only nine and I was bored so I went exploring.'' He remembered the scolding he got from his mother. Talk about wrong timing for exploring.
"By the way,'' Jory said rummaging through his pocket ''are you allergic to anything?'' He pulled out the vial containing the potion he made in potions class.
‘Me?’, the girl raised her eyebrows. Lots, but that doesn’t mean I have to talk about how many stupid things I did. But anyway- they weren’t that many. She used to be a good kid. ‘I tried baking muffins with Bertie Bott’s for my parents and ended up almost blowing up the kitchen…’ And yet, that happened two years ago. And she still had no idea how to cook. She wasn’t even able to make tea!
‘I still think it’s a good idea to go’Like for a couple of weeks. I’ll manage to catch up. WHAT!? Mummies coming to life? ‘Yes, that would be phenomenal’, she said coldly.
‘I think I’d prefer the crime type’ , Gwendolyn nodded. ‘Really? You would?’ It was nice of Jory to say he’d lend her some books. ‘I bet that muggle books are different to the ones I’ve read so far’, she mused. Then, she listened to Jory talk about his sister. ‘That’s…’ Annoying. ‘… nice’You liar, Gwendolyn told herself. ‘I still think that having siblings is way better…’, the third year nodded.
‘I know I sometimes shouldn’t be so nosy… but I’m always curious to find out stuff. Sometimes it just goes a bit too far…’Right. Like finding a picture of Ari’s dad. Although- that wasn’t a bad thing, right? Riiight?‘Ah, no, actually no’, she started saying and laughed. After all, it was her parents' Quidditch equipment. And they weren’t that old yet. ‘Well… some stuff looks a bit more outdated. But some of it is similar to what we use now’
Old coins?‘Whaaa… that sounds interesting!’, Gwendolyn beamed. ‘You what?!’, the Ravenclaw said surprised and then started laughing. Oh my!‘That’s…appropriate’Proper or not… it was still funny.
‘Allergic?’To idiots… does that count?, she thought, but then realized she did have an allergy. ‘Umm yes...’, the third year announced, looking at the vial.
