Ducks, fifteen in all and quite possibly already named, live in this pond. Go on, take a seat on the rocky ledge and dip your feet into the water! Rest assured, these ducks will not bite, but if you just so happen to have any type of bread or cookies on you at the time, the ducks have been known to take without asking.
Waylon keeps a good eye on the pond and the ducks, so no funny business.
Katie laughed, though it wasn't that funny Katie had found humor in what Erin had said so she laughed not caring what she might think, Katie literally laughed at everything funny, no matter how cheesy. "Of course Slytherin is awesome aswell" Katie teased, a smirk on her face, she did love Slytherin, they won everything last year because they are so skilled! The house she liked the least was Gryffindor, she actually had about one friend in that house, and that would probably be her boyfriend John, HE was awesome, a lot awesome, they had got together at the feast, so clearly that was going to be a feast to remember.
"I see, I may know him, since we are around the same age then if thats true, I'm in fifth year" Katie said, fifth year, OWL year, and Katie hoped to get decent grades, grades she could be proud of, that was one of the few goals she had for the year, she had A LOT of goals, and she was going to accomplish them all, no matter what, yup, Katie wasn't being lazy this year, not at all.
Katie thought, did she know a Nora? Not exactly, "I don't know Nora but I have heard about her" Katie nodded and then listened to the rest of what Erin had to say "Nice" Katie smiled laughing a tad, now she wanted to meet Nora now because she had a lizard too, and maybe she might let her hold it, of course Katie understood why Erin wouldn't let Katie hold the lizard but she did really want to hold it. "Does your lizard have a name?" Katie asked, that would help for future references, so she doesn't just call it the lizard each time she see's it.
What's so funny with Erin's words? Oh! Did Katelyn somehow heard her muttering? She should learn to make it more inaudible next time or else, she'll found herself in trouble. Thank God, Katelyn was not one of te She-Snakes. She could be getting into detention, Lafay favored them all than any other houses. Yes, that would be very obvious, she was their Head of House. So what? Ravenclaw's got Vindictus! Duh? The Quidditch master of all the masters. "Goodluck then this year. We will not give in too easily. We'll fight for the win," she winked. This time she just wanted to say it, not too proud but an Eagle who truly wanted the House Cup this time around. After all, Eagles were always elevated than Snakes. They crawl. We fly.
"I wish you don't know him," Erin snorted. "You'll also get disppointed." Erin would never forget the face of that boy. The face of evilness. "When I see him again and found out about his name, you'll be the first to know." Did she just say fifth year? "Wait! It's your OWLs year!" Erin studied Katelyn, "Are you ready?"
She heard about Nora. That would be awesome! "So, what did you hear about her? A lizard freak?" she giggled. A name? That never occurred to Erin! Thank you Katelyn! "Oh my gosh! He doesn't! Oh, I mean she doesn't have it yet." Please suggest Katelyn! Now, Erin felt like she was one of those house elves who badly asking help from the students to name their Baby!Elf.

DUCKS
Lana loved ducks!
Upon seeing the pond, she just had to go to it. It reminded her so much of the pond from when her family had lived in Luton. This was so going to be the place where Laura and herself could meet up. It would remind them of house and it could be their spot.
Glancing around for a nice spot as she checked her pockets, she smiled once she found a nice spot on the rocky ledge. It was away from everyone already at the pond and if Laura did come out there, it would be easy for her to see.
Ridding herself of one of her shoes, she carefully dipped her toe into the water. It wasn't all that cold, but she wasn't about to dip both her feet in. Sitting atop her other leg, she tracked shapes in the water as she lost herself in thought.

Hogwarts is different. The duck pond, the vegetable patch, the tapestry, all brand new. Janice decided that she should first go to the duck pond, as she had enough of plants back at home and she is definitely not interested in gigantic stuffed animals. They just scare her for no reason.
And there was another girl there. A firstie, by the looks of it. Janice needs to keep reminding herself that she is a third year now, not a second anymore, which is one of the reasons why she should not be afraid to bid another human being hello.

"Oh I will join you every now and then." Everyday was a bit much for August, he was going to have classes and a House Cup to help win afterall. But he was definately looking forward to getting to feed the fat little ducks some bread or something else.
Taryn giggled a little bit. "Yeah... yeah. That makes more sense than just walking up there." Like, what? Did she want to make sure that the owls were still there? Sigh.
Well. Her intentions were good, and chances are, coming out every day would increase her chances of seeing the pretty Groundskeeper, but Taryn wasn't sure if she would make it out EVERY day. "That would be nice." Taryn cast a glance at Clara, who was still duck!stalking, "Maybe Aspen will come sit with us too, I bet she knows everything there is to know about ducks."

"Yeah, good idea though. It will save us time and that way we don't put it off. I'm sure Tori would love to hear about the pond and all the new places here on the Grounds." he grinned at Taryn. "Oh and I know she will want to spill all the details about her first day aswell." Chuckling slightly, the Gryffindor tried to imagine what she was doing right now.
Aspen? Yeah he hadn't seen her since that one day at Florean's over the summer when they had ice cream together. It had been a fun day actually, they had talked about robbing banks and stuck spoons to their noses--probably typical Aspen things but August has enjoyed them too. "I'm sure we can get her to come along." he nodded. "We can ask her what makes the ducks float."

Hmmm. "What do you suppose Beauxbatons is like?" Taryn tilted her head as she pondered this question. "Do you think it's just like Hogwarts? Do they have a duck pond there too?" Hmmm. Questions. She needed her letter from Tori to find out the answers!
"Magic?" She guessed with a laugh. Hehe. They had to be some kind of MAGIC, right? Or.. were they just plain regular ducks?

Beauxbatons? He had never even read about that school yet. Auggie had been too busy focussing on learning about Hogwarts last term, not the other magical institutions that he would never visit. "Um I bet it's smaller. I don't know why but I just feel like it is." As he said that he turned around to look at the Castle behind them. "And I bet it's not as cool." A given, for sure.
"They could possibly have duck pond but I feel like they would want swans or something." He had a bit of a squewed view of the french though, he thought they were all fancy and fashionable, or at least that's what his mother was always saying.
"These ducks are magic?" he said sitting up to look at one closer. They didn't look any different. "Hmm Aspen would know. What do you think?"

Laura had been walking around the grounds she had been sad about somethings but she knew that there was nothing she could do about most of them, so she had promised herself she would make the best of things, she hadn't been paying attention to anything and was shocked when she bumped into something and nearly sent them into whatever was there.
"I'm sorry." Laura looked up and then smiled. "Lana, there you are I've been looking for you." Okay so that last bit was a lie she hadn't been looking for anyone, she had just come out for a walk but Lana didn't have to know that did she.
"This is lovely, it kinds of reminds me of the ponds that was near our home in Luton, we had some fun times there didn't we." Laura giggled, even though they had left Luton when they were young she still remembered playing in the ponds. "How's life in Ravenclaw treating you?"

Taryn bet that Aspen knew what Beauxbatons was like. Aspen knew everything, Taryn figured. Why did she even need to pay attention in class again? She could just have Aspen tell her everything she needed to know. That's what BFFs were for!
"We'll have to ask Tori about it in our letters." She decided. Hmmm. There was a pause. "You know what she would really like?" Heh... Taryn thought it might be a little silly, but she knew that Tori would love to see it. "If we both wrote our notes on the same parchment." Yeah. Tori would think it was super sweet.
And Taryn could always send a different letter later full of the secret 'let's talk about Auggie' things that she didn't want him to see.
"Aspen knows everything." THAT's what Taryn thought about that.

He would like to hear about the French magic school. It probably was pretty different. August wondered now if they had to say their spells in french or if they were in a universal language? Sooo many questions!
"The same parchment would be cool. I'm ok with that." It did seem a bit silly to him but it seemed like a girl thing and who was he to step infront of a girl wanting to do something for her best girlfriend? "Yeah we can definately do that."
"So what all is in Hogsmeade?" he asked her curiously, looking at her with his eyebrows pulled into the center. He hadn't made the trip to village last term and was wanting to get some ideas for their date there coming up.
There goes his food. He's trying to put an angry face hoping that the bad ducky would scare of him but unfortunately for him the duck was more scarier than him. He back a little when the duck gave him an angry kwek. Apparently the Groundskeeper forgot to put a 'Beware Of Fierce Ducks' near the pond. He need to go and see him to tell him that.
Then suddenly out of no where Messer saw his bun flew into the air. What? Did the Groundskeeper train it magic too? His eyes followed the flying bun and it landed into a someone hand. He smiled widely when his eyes caught the familiar face. "ELLIE!"Of course he should know better than make an assumption that the duck could do magic.
"Thanks, Ellie." he took his bun from the redhead's hand. Messer made a yuck face when she mentioned about duck germs. He's thinking about give the bad ducky his bun but its his favorite and the ducky only managed to take a small bite. "Do you mind to..umm..scourgify it?" He'd like to do it himself but he still doesn't know to use his wand properly.
A smile broke across her face. "Messer!"
"You're welcome," she grinned down on him. Scourgify it? Why, sure. Ellie'd want the same thing done if it were her bun. She just gave it a chance in case Messer didn't mind duck germs. He was a boy, after all. Aidan was a boy. And she doubted Aidan would mind. Then again, her brother was WEIRD. She aimed her wand at the bun again, "Scourgify. There. Should be good now." The thing about that was, though, you couldn't SEE if the spell had worked or not. But Ellie was excellent in Charms despite ONLY getting an E on the OWL and was confident that it had worked. Scourgify was more Transfiguration anyway, wasn't it?
Before Messer'd get a chance to chow down on his bun, though, Ellie pulled him in for a tight head!hug. "Congratulations, by the way! Hufflepuff like you wanted, right?" And she was happy for him, despite how strongly she still felt that he would have made a nice addition to Ravenclaw, and how jealous she was of Hufflepuff.

"It's silly." Taryn admitted, "A little cheesy even, so we totally don't have to do it all the time, just this once." And Tori would love it and then they could go back to writing individual letters.
Taryn thought about that question. "It's kind of pretty much the same as Diagon Alley, lots of shops." CANDY. She shrugged, "The Three Broomsticks, Zonko's, Honeydukes.... Madam Puddifoot's." Where they SUPPOSED to go there...? Taryn was going to let him decide that one. Good luck, Auggie.

"Hi," she said.
Lana continued to think on as she heard someone approaching. Turning her head from the sky toward the source of the sound, she smiled. By the looks of it was a Hufflepuff, she wondered if she knew her sister.
Raising her hand, she gave a wave. "Hi," she replied from her perch a top the ledge.

So her sister had finally found her. Getting up from the ledge, she put her shoe back on and smiled. "So you were out exploring without me? Well, did you find anything good?" She still hadn't had a chance to really explore yet, but it was on her list of things to do.
Glancing back at the pond, she smiled brightly. "I remember all the ducks there and how much we used to want to play in the water, but mummy wouldn't let us." Yes, they sure did have fun there. "It's pretty cool. We are all up in the tower and you know I can see like everything from up there! What about you? How's life as a Hufflepuff?"

"There's this tree that apparently hits people called the Whomping Willow and a Lake and then there's this pond, we can explore the rest together if you want." Laura laughed, she might as well let her sister join in.
"Those were some good old time." Laura sighed, she missed them but well they didn't live in Luton and she had no idea if the ponds where still there maybe they have been moved somewhere else. "I remember how we got told off by mummy when we went and played in the ponds just before we moved." Laura then smiled as she heard the next question. "Oh it's great I've got a friend called Sophie who is in our year and then there this older guy who's name I can't say so we've decided just to call him Gust, and the head boy is in our house he's called Sir Head Hufflepuff Boy." Laura giggled.

There was so much to see here. He had cooled down just a little after the whole hufflepuff disappointment and had even managed to fall asleep, after crying..something he would never admit to of course. How come Rhea didn't tell him that Hogwarts was so cool! Every hallway had something for him to touch or gawk at and he was sure the grounds had something for him to poke.
There had to be something to poke here.
He didn't have long to sure until he stumbled upon a duck pond...with ducks!!! Real live ducks. He definitely had to catch one.
He looked around, no professors..a few students here and there but meh...they couldn't get him in trouble. He folded up his pants and his sleeves then waded into the water.
Wait a minute...he needed bait. He paused and dug his hand into his pocket. If there was one thing he could find in his pocket..it was crumbs. He always had crumbs in his pockets.
He came ut with a bit of crumbs and scattered it across the water top then waited..

Isabelle was wandering the grounds, it was fun. She planned to find everything about the grounds and write to Marie, since she had hinted that she might want to teach here after she graduated. Isabelle thought that it was silly of Marie to be asking her to find out about the secrets of Hogwarts for her, but it didn't really bother her, it was a reason to explore the grounds.
"Duckies," she said excitedly as she came across a...duck pond!!!! This wasn't here last year was it, that was a cool new addition. Pulling out a piece of toast from her bag, yeah she had toast in her bag from breakfast, she began to break it apart and through it into the pond at the little duckies. They were all so cute.
Kicking off her sandals she sat down on a ledge and began to feed the little ducklings.

Thomas had unceremoniously stuffed his sketchbook back into his bag and was continuing his walk around the grounds when he came to a place he didn't remember from last year. He paused a good few yards away from it and frowned as looked around as if gauging his new surroundings a bit like a cat would ...and then he moved closer.
A duck pond?
This was new, yes? ..Either that or young Thomas Broadmoor was losing his marbles.
As he got closer he spotted a little Hufflepuff lad who could only be a first year wading his way out into the water. The fourteen year old raised a brow as he watched but his expression remained as serious as ever.
What was he doing? ..There was only one way to find out really wasn't there? The Gryffindor bellowed after him in his thick, rough London accent. “ERE! 'UFFLEPUFF KID!” He cocked his head to the side in a curious manner. “Wotchah doin'?”

Laura looked at her fellow Hufflepuff Boy, he was about her year and so if it evolved into a fight she knew she might be able to take him, well she was not going to let him hurt the ducks, he could do anything else but if he though he could hurt the ducks he was wrong, shouting at the top of her voice she shouted.
""WHAT YOU DOING?" Laura was looking straight at him now, she would run into the pond if she had to but she was hoping it wouldn't come to that since she would then have to go and get some clean clothes as these she had on would become wet.

Going for a little dip in the duck pond or....?
*frown*
Right all he had to do was stand perfectly still and the little duckies would come towards the bait, then he would catch them..and inspect them..thats all.
One started making it's way over and Tyler held his breath for a second..just a little bit closer and the bird would be within grabbing distance....
O_O
It happened in two seconds. One minute the duck was within his grasp and the next it was flapping away...from him because of some loud noise. He hung his head in disappointed from a few seconds before turning to face who had interrupted him. Hufflepuff Kid? He wouldn't be for long so the boy had better not get used to it. That Treyen boy was suppose to take him to get resorted.
He frowned." Well I was trying to catch the ducks but you scared them away!"
He folded his arms across his chest.

Oh nooooo! Another crazy hufflepuff girl. There was just no escaping them. They were going to be the end of him, he knew it already and they were only one day into the school term. Luckily..well unluckily for him, he wasn't trying to catch ducks any more. He turned his attention to her...briefly.
"You know you don't have to be that loud! I can hear you perfectly fine! Though I'd rather NOT hear you, especially if you plan on popping my eardrums." No he would not deal with anymore HufflePuff girls.

Oh this boy was asking for it big time, she was getting really angry with him, if it wasn't for the fact that Lana was there well Laura would have tackled him there and then he was just a very rude boy, one who probably should have been sorted into Slytherin.
"Well you should leave those defenceless ducks alone, what have they done to you?" Laura asked the boy, she was going to get him today for the way he had spoken to her but how, suddenly she had an evil plan if he didn't want her never him, well she was going to hug her, taking off her shoes and socks she walked close to him before stopped and giving him the biggest hug she had given anyone but her family. "Maybe that'll make you nice." She giggled.

Thomas looked from the duck that was flapping itself away in a panic back to the Hufflepuff and he frowned just as the kid was also doing.
Oh.
Oops.
The frown faded and a small amused smile found it's way onto Tom's face for just a second before that disappeared as well. “You ain' really goin' 'bou' it in the right way, kid.” He replied knowingly. “I fink...” and he thought long and hard for a good few minutes.. “..you should be finkin' 'bou' settin' a trap.”
But... *frown*..the kid wasn't planning on hurting the creatures was he? “Why you tryin' to catch 'em?” That was a perfectly valid question ri—
O_______O
SPOILER!!: Loud!Person! :p

""WHAT YOU DOING?" Laura was looking straight at him now, she would run into the pond if she had to but she was hoping it wouldn't come to that since she would then have to go and get some clean clothes as these she had on would become wet.
Thomas jumped when someone else stuck their beak in (no pun intended) and started yelling at the young Hufflepuff boy. The frown was back on Thomas's face in an instant and he turned to look at her.
“You mind not bein' so blaady loud?” He snapped, narrowing his eyes on her. Merlin, was she trying to scare the life out of him?

He wasn't doing it the right way? How else did people catch ducks? The boy's accent was strange to him so he figured he must come from the country or something where they cooked ducks for dinner. Perfect, since he let his duck get away maybe he could catch one for him.
"A trap huh? Well I don't know how to set traps, but since you let me duck get away you should set one for me."
He frowned too. He wanted to look at them..and maybe get a feather or two but why did country boy want them? Not to cook surely...O.o
"I want to look at them and I want some feather...don't eat him when you catch it." She eyed him seriously.

Leave the defenceless ducks alone? And what exactly was he doing to these..defenceless ducks? All he wanted to do was catch them and look at them. Why was loony screaming at him and acting like he was going to kill the ducks or something? Ugh, girls were just so dramatic.
And then she was in the water and heading towards him. He looked behind him, maybe someone else was in the pond because she couldn't seriously be coming towards him now could she?
O_O.........O_o..why?
Nooooooooooo. Why was she hugging him? He seriously did not appreciate this at all. He pushed her off him and brushed his shirt off. "Don't ever do that again, you crazy girl. What's wrong with you?" He looked at her as if she was crazy and shook is head.

Tom nodded seriously. He'd seen it done on the estate to catch pests invading the rubbish bins on the street at night and making an awful mess. He'd seen a fox once. He thought it was really amazing and beautiful and had filled an entire sketchbook with drawings of the animal.
He scratched his head and looked around before focusing on the boy once again. “All you need is a 'eavy wooden box, a bit of wood an' somefin' ducks like to eat to attract 'em.” Couldn't be simpler, right? The kid thought HE should set it? “Well do you 'av a blaady box?” he asked. Maybe this kid was good at magic. Maybe he could summon one.
Don't eat him!? Tom's almost scowled. What did this kid think he was? Why did everyone think the worst of him? Was it his accent? His clothing? Or his tatty second hand books that did it? “Do I look like some kindah bleedin' barbarian to you?” He asked bluntly.
“We'll catch one so you can 'av a look an' I can draw it. There's feathers an' tha' on the graand.” He pointed out. No plucking the poor duck.

Laura looked at the boy and smiled. "I was just seeing if you actually had a heart of not and now I know that you don't." Laura giggled, as she looked at her sister hoping she wouldn't leave because if she did then Laura would have to chase after her and she was hoping her sister would keep an eye out on her shoes and socks. "I also thought that if I gave you a hug maybe it would change you, sometimes when you don't get enough hugs it makes you mad." Laura smiled truthfully. "Let's see if another hug makes any difference." and with that said she gave him another hug, before pulling away. "Do you feel all warm inside now?"

Getting slightly bored of being cooped up in the common room, Alec found himself wandering around the grounds, looking for something to do. Maybe he could meet someone and make a new friend. Who knew. Or he could discover something new about the castle and tell Anya about it later. See. That didn't seem so bad at all.
And then he heard quacking. Alec spun round and blinked at the sight in front of him. Ducks? Well, it looked like it was more of a duck pond but that was more or less the same thing. These kind of surprises weren't bad at all. He could definitely get used to this.
Grinning, Alec strolled over and sat down on the rocky ledge. He took off his shoes and socks and dipped his feet into the cold water. There! Now he could relax! All he needed was someone to talk to and then he'd be fine!
