| | The Corridor To The Courtyard This corridor is a simple, airy hallway with openings to allow in as much sunshine as possible and fresh air. It is an excellent transition from the school to the grounds as it exits out into the courtyard. |

She had never been tongue-tied around Lewis until now, and it was confusing her. "I...I suppose it is just some of my insecurities coming out." She tried to laugh that comment off, but it didn't really work all that well. "N-N-Never mind." And then she began to run her fingers through her long black hair, tugging on it now and again.
Rolling up her parchments and charts, Kurumi practically beamed up at Lewis. It was nice to know that he was so interested in Astronomy. Kurumi wondered what Lewis' other interests were. She was realizing that she both knew Lewis and didn't - which made her not a very good friend in her opinion. "Then it's decided." Yep. They would keep coming out to looks for Mars until they found it. She didn't want to disappoint him by never being able to spot the red planet after all.
Kurumi laughed and finally stopped playing with her hair, resisting the urge to fluff her bangs again. "I suppose you are right." Especially depending on who it was that found them out here. She was pretty sure that her own Head of House wouldn't be too upset about it, but Professor Scabior...Kurumi didn't want to think about that. Her cheeks were back to a pink hue when he echoed her words. "Well, if it happened, we would get in trouble together...and I suppose it would really be both our faults." So, there was no need to get in trouble because of the other after all.
But then her attention was drawn to the owl and her package which she opened now and filled the air with a fresh smell of peppermint. Evelyn SAID they were not poisoned...but that didn't mean she hadn't done something else to them...liked turned some of them into puking pestles. Nervously, Kurumi took a small bite out of one of them and waited. When a few moments passed, a wave of relief washed over her. They were perfectly fine and, surprisingly, delicious. "Do you like peppermint?" she asked as she adjusted the strap of her bag on her shoulder and offered the box for him to take one should he want. SHE had insecurities too? Her too? Why? That didn't make much sense in his eyes. Why would anybody NOT like her? Or even worse, change their mind about wanting to be her friend? "Well, I doubt I'll ever change my mind." Lewis said softly, pointedly not looking at her but once again down to his hands. Like EVER. Actually, he knew for sure he would never change his mind about her.
Putting all of his belongings back into his bag, Lewis ended up with the mug the tea had been in in his hands. Was he supposed to...wash this? He didn't really want to ask that in case it was a stupid question, so instead he just turned it around in his hands absently, glancing back up at her when she spoke up again. "Maybe at some point we'll have seen all of the planets." Because 1. that WOULD actually be pretty awesome, and 2. that would give them lots of excuses to meet up.
Even though the 'together' part didn't sound too bad, Lewis really wasn't too keen on getting in trouble. Not even with Kurumi. And especially not for something so trivial like being out after curfew to look for a planet they wouldn't be able to see tonight anyway. "How about we just don't get in trouble?" He suggested quietly, glancing around him to see if he had forgotten to pack anything. Which he hadn't, it seemed.
Once he was done even packing away his telescope, Lewis got up to fold the blanket(s?) and put them over his left arm. With his bag over his shoulder he finally made his way over to where Kurumi was standing, nibbling on something. "I do." He replied with a small smile, not quite sure where this question had come from until his eyes fell on the box she was holding out to him. Was he supposed to...take one? Probably, right?
After a short moment of hesitation, Lewis reached out to take one of the cookies. "Thank you." And with that he glanced back up at the castle. Even though he REALLY didn't want to, they probably should actually get going. |

After a short moment of hesitation, Lewis reached out to take one of the cookies. "Thank you." And with that he glanced back up at the castle. Even though he REALLY didn't want to, they probably should actually get going. Kurumi couldn't tell if Lewis' facial expression had changed or not due to it getting darker and darker with each passing moment, but the pause between what she had said and him responding indicated SOMETHING, but just what that something was was beyond her. She smiled when he spoke though, wider than she probably should have. For some reason, it was comforting to hear those words - even if the word doubt was in there. However, the situation made her miss Jonathan more. Even if he was the silent type and not one to show his emotions easily, he had always been there for her to at least hold her and listen. She needed one of those embraces right now...so badly. There was something else there too. An emotion that was rather unexpected. Guilt. What was she feeling guilty about? More importantly, why was she?
Kurumi fluffed her bangs a bit more and then smiled at the Hufflepuff. " Thanks, Lewis. That means a lot to me." Something constant. Or at least something that came with the illusion of being constant because, right now there were very few things in her life that were.
Zipping her bag shut, Kurumi nodded. " No maybe about it, I think it should be our goal," she chirped. " We've got one down, so we only have seven more, or erm...eight if you want to include Pluto, which I sort of still do. I feel bad for it being kicked out of the planet club just because it was different." Being different wasn't a bad thing, right? It is what her father was always telling her and she tended to believe everything he said without any questions - until recently that is.
" They're from a friend," she explained. " Former Head Girl." In case he needed a little further explanation as to what friend meant. Kurumi finished the cookie she had in her hand and closed the lid on the box - unless Lewis wanted another one that is. " Well, we probably should head inside so we don't end up in detention together," she laughed. " Knowing professors this term, they would get the wrong idea about why we were out here." Example? Louisa getting detention with one of her housemates for supposedly brewing love in the library when all they were doing was talking.
So, Kurumi took a small step towards the castle and looked over her shoulder at Lewis. Was he coming?

So, Kurumi took a small step towards the castle and looked over her shoulder at Lewis. Was he coming? He was only trying to make her feel less insure. Less insure about him, anyway. Them. Was there a them? Well, there definitely was a friends-them. They'd just discussed this at length after all. "Thanks." Err, had he just THANKED her for saying it meant a lot to her? "I mean, you're welcome." Huh? Not knowning what else to say, Lewis kept his voice and head down, still not looking at her. Somehow, it meant a lot to him that it meant a lot to her, too. Or something.
He smiled when she seemed to like his suggestion. He wasn't quite sure if they'd succeed but it was definitely worth a try. "Eight to go then." Lewis said with yet another smile as he watched her talk about how unfair it was that Pluto got demoted. It did seem very unfair to him too. They would go look for Pluto first. Or calculate its path first anyway.
Not that he would ever ask but somehow he WAS just a little bit interested who had sent Kurumi the cookies. And in the middle of the night too. Why the fact that it was a girl who'd sent it to her made him smile, Lewis wasn't quite sure either. He didn't comment on it, however, but just nodded while taking a bite of the cookie. They really WERE pretty good. This former Head Girl friend of Kurumi's definitely knew how to make peppermint cookies.
With one last glance at the place they'd been sitting to see if they'd packed everything, Lewis nodded again and moved to follow her. He stopped however for a moment, clearly confused by something she'd said. "The wrong idea?" What was she talking about? After a few seconds he started walking again, hurrying to catch up with Kurumi. His eyes were on her face once he had, obviously expecting some sort of explanation for her words. |

After a few seconds he started walking again, hurrying to catch up with Kurumi. His eyes were on her face once he had, obviously expecting some sort of explanation for her words. Kurumi couldn't help but giggle a bit. His thank you had been unexpected yet appreciated all the same. Really though, she should be thanking him for coming out here and stargazing with her. It had really helped her take her mind off other things. Yet, something about how tongue tied he suddenly became as they walked was...curious, and she cocked her head to the side a bit as she looked at him, her long black hair falling over her shoulder. Was he still sort of nervous around her? She was tempted to ask.
" Eight then," she winked. Good, he was a pro-Pluto person too. It was unfair really. Dwarf planet STILL had the word planet in it, so wasn't demoting Pluto and calling it such an oxymoron? If it wasn't a planet, why could you call it a dwarf planet? Seemed like someone was just trying to bully the planet and poke it while it was down. They could have at least called it a dwarf something else.
Kurumi stopped walking when she heard Lewis ask what was perhaps the most awkward of questions of the night, allowing him to catch up with her. Not knowing how to put things, Kurumi chewed on the inside of her cheek and tried her best not to look at him. " Uuuum..." she began, quickly realizing that the words were just not coming. " That we...um...we were intending on staying out here all night or something." LIES. That was not what she was really thinking or implying, but she couldn't bring herself to say the other.
She was back to playing with her hair now, twisting it around her index finger and tugging on it, her violet eyes sort of avoiding contact with Lewis'.

She was back to playing with her hair now, twisting it around her index finger and tugging on it, her violet eyes sort of avoiding contact with Lewis'. Good, she apparently hadn't thought it was weird he had thanked her. Or she had and was just too nice to say anything. Hopefully, it was the first option. Because he just WAS very thankful she considered him her friend. He just wasn't sure if it was okay to say that out loud in that way.
Had she just...winked at him? Blink. "Yes." Running a hand through his hair (!!!!!!) a little nervously, Lewis nodded slowly, not really knowning what else to do. "Soooooo...when's our next...stargazing-date? Get-together. Err, I mean, when are we going to look for the other planets. Planet." WHAT was he talking about? They didn't have to and probably also couldn't fix a date right now. They would have to calculate and look up when the planets would be visible, after all.
Somehow Kurumi was lost for words it seemed, as she considered his question. He hadn't asked anything weird, right? He was just confused. Who would assume that they were up to anything but stargazing? He narrowed his green eyes at her a little to see her better in the dark and slowly started walking towards the castle again. "Oh." What?! "Why would we do that?" Would anybody seriously think that they were the type to purposefully break the rules? |

What?! "Why would we do that?" Would anybody seriously think that they were the type to purposefully break the rules? A chill went down Kurumi's spin just as Lewis spoke, but she wanted to brush it off as being the chill of the evening finally sinking in. Date? He didn't mean it that way, did he? Lewis knew she was dating someone, right? There was that guilt again. Kurumi didn't like the feeling. Would Jonathan be upset that she had been out here, at night, just her and Lewis, stargazing? Jonathan really wasn't the jealous type, not that she had seen at least, and seemed to completely trust her with others - minus Adam, but there was good reason there. Why were her emotions so confused right now? On the one hand, there was a part of her, a rather large part actually, that wanted to confess something to Jonathan. Something wonderful yet terrifying about herself and what she was feeling. Yet, there was another side, a side that was slowly growing with each passing moment she spent with Jonathan that was making her doubt things - not to mention downright confusing her.
One thing that didn't confuse her was his hair, and she watched as he ran his fingers through it. Lewis had really nice hair and she sort of wanted to run her fingers through it too. It was just so fluffy and stuff.
Realizing that she had sort of been quiet for two seconds too long and part of that time was because she was entranced by his hair, she looked at Lewis and mustered a nervous smile. " Um..." she said, wondering if she should address his choice of words or not. For some reason, she didn't. Maybe keeping things purely related to school work would make things feel less awkward? " Well...I think this weekend Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus will be visible," she said with a nod. " So...we could meet again then." It was for the sake of homework after all. And she liked spending time with Lewis, a lot actually.
Relieved that her story had been acceptable, Kurumi's posture relaxed. " Oh, I don't know, maybe we would if we wanted to see all the planets we could in one night," she replied with a laugh. That was true. Pluto, for example, was due to come out early morning - around the time that they should be snuggled up night and warm in their separate beds.

That was true. Pluto, for example, was due to come out early morning - around the time that they should be snuggled up night and warm in their separate beds. While he was usually quite content with silence and not-talking, this kind was definitely making him uncomfortable. He hadn't meant date as in date date. She KNEW he hadn't meant it like that. Right? It was just a word. Like, a synonym for 'getting together'. The longer the silence lasted the more nervous Lewis got. He had even started fidgeting with the strap of his bag anxiously. Should he elaborate what he had meant again? But no, that would probably only make things weirder, right? Right?! RIGHT?!
When she finally did speak up, Lewis couldn't stop himself from releasing the breath he didn't even know he'd been holding. Of course she knew he hadn't meant date in that way. Because that would've meant that...meant that...yeah, what exactly? He had asked her out? But no, that wasn't an option. First, she had a boyfriend and second...huh, the more he thought about it, the more he realized that yes, that that was somehow the only reason. Oh wow. That was...not good. Was it?
GOOD! She hadn't even mentioned the whole 'date' thing. Now he felt kind of stupid even thinking about it for so long. It was nothing. She'd probably been thinking about something completely different. "S-sounds good. This weekend then." Lewis replied with a nod and even mustered a small smile - hoping that his nervousness wasn't showing too much. Everything was fine. It was just for school. And they were friends after all so. Yes.
As they got closer and close to the castle, Lewis pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment. It was just wrong that he felt sad about them having to separate in just a couple of minutes. Or maybe not wrong per se since they were friends and all but still. "Oh. Okay, yeah, that makes sense." He replied with a nod, letting his gaze linger on her for just a second longer before averting it back up to the castle they were so quickly approaching. |

Kurumi nodded. She would have to write this down in her planner to make sure that she remembered. Not that she actually thought that she would forget hanging out with Lewis. That seemed like a sort of impossible feat really. She had to hold her tongue from saying something like it's a date because that would be throwing that word out there again. " Brilliant," she said instead, wanting to mentally slap her forehead. Because, you know, that wasn't awkward or anything.
Why was talking to Lewis both incredibly easy AND ridiculously difficult?
But she didn't allow her thoughts to linger there for much longer and Lewis helped distract her by speaking again. She sort of just smiled at his comment. Staying out all night looking at the stars didn't seem like such a bad thing really. There was an awful lot to see and things were constantly changing during the night. " We could try to get permission for that," she mused. " You know, to stay out all night and stargaze...together." Of course, being inside might be a better idea since there were all those creatures roaming around.
Kurumi stopped for a moment as they had reached the steps leading inside the castle. This was where they were supposed to part ways, yes? Turning to face Lewis now, she smiled at him. " Well, um, good night, Lewis."

"Well, um, good night, Lewis." Lewis just nodded for a moment, not really knowning what else to do or say. Okay, he was nodding a lot wasn't he? Like, all the time. Err. Immediately stopping once he realized this, he ended up chewing on his lower lip instead. Which was probably just as weird. "Yeah." It WAS brilliant wasn't it? Or was it? Was it brilliant? What did brilliant even mean? Did it mean something that she'd chosen this adjective? Was he reading way too much into Kurumi's words? Probably.
What was WRONG with him?!
His gaze went back to her face again, a little surprised by her suggestion. And right now he wasn't quite sure if it was a good or a bad kind of surprised. Of course the idea of staying out here with Kurumi all night sounded WONDERFUL! pretty great but then again they would be staying out here all night. Just the two of them. With what he'd heard some kind of scary forest animals on the loose. Still, he couldn't say that, could he? He'd sound like a coward. "Erm...sure. Why not?" Except he could think of a zillion reasons why not!!
And then - all too soon for his liking - they'd reached the castle. Which meant they'd had to part ways, seeing as they - sadly - were in different Common Rooms. Stopping to turn and face Kurumi too Lewis just looked at her for a moment and nodded. "Yes." No, this was not a normal answer. "I mean, goodnight, Kurumi." Yes, this was definitely better. Okay, should he just...go now? Wave at her? |

Okay, should he just...go now? Wave at her? Hmm... Lewis didn't seem as excited about an entire night of stargazing as she was. Maybe he was as big a fan of Astronomy as she thought? Then again, he had been the one to ask her to come out here and do the assignment together, so surely he had some interest in the subject. No ulterior motives or anything, right? Not that Kurumi knew what those motives would be if there were any. So, she just nodded at his yeah and continued to walk.
Yes? Kurumi cocked her head to the side like a baby owl and sort of just blinked at him. Yes? Had Kurumi asked a question? Was she that distracted that she forgot what she had asked? Not wanting to make a fool of herself, she sort of just glazed over the yes. Whatever it was, she had asked or not asked as the case was she had received a positive answer and that was really all that mattered.
So, they had said their good nights, but now it seemed sort of weird to just...walk away like that. Kurumi was tempted to bow as a means to say thank you for working with her this evening, but she never bowed to friends. Hugging was something that her friends did, but she was still a little awkward with hugging - unless that person was Jonathan and then she was perfectly fine with hugging. Still...she wanted to and even moved her arms to sort of do so before stopping herself and...taking his hand in hers to give it a shake.
A handshake?
You, Kurumi Hollingberry, had just stoop to a whole new level of awkward.

A handshake?
You, Kurumi Hollingberry, had just stoop to a whole new level of awkward. Lewis was still pondering on her suggestion of asking permission to be staying out here all night. How in the world was he going to get out of that one? Maybe he could just suggest that they'd do the stargazing inside? Like in the observatory? Would Professor Roslund give them permission for that? It WAS for school after all. Or they could just ask a professor who would never ever give them permission in the first place. Like...Professor Scabior or something.
It was only when he glanced back at Kurumi and found her sort of staring at him with her head cocked to the side that he realized that he should probably pay better attention to what was going on NOW. He could worry about the other things later. Okay. What had he said that made her look at him that way? Seeing as he tended to be even more socially awkward around Kurumi than other people lately, it could have been anything. Hopefully 'anything' hadn't something completely weird or embarrassing. Like asking her about her boyfriend or something.
He DID remember wishing her good night so that was usually the moment where they would part ways, right? Somehow he couldn't move his feet however so instead he just lingered there, feeling just a little awkward. He really didn't know what the protocol was here. So instead he just trusted Kurumi to come up with something. Which she did it seemed. Hang on, was she going to hug him-
No, she didn't. Instead she...shook his hand? Okay, even HE had to admit that that was somewhat weird. "Right. Erm." Lewis stared down at her hand in his for a moment, wracking his brain for something to say. Well, returning the handshake seemed like a good idea. So that was what he did. And even though this whole situation was beyond awkward, he held on to her hand just a second longer, glancing up at her for a moment. Right, he should probably leave. Like now.
And with that he did drop her hand and took a small step back, without turning just yet however. "Right." He'd said that already, hadn't he? |

And with that he did drop her hand and took a small step back, without turning just yet however. "Right." He'd said that already, hadn't he? Okay. So maybe the whole handshake thing had been a dumb idea because not things certainly were awkward. Not that they hadn't been before, but now Kurumi recognized this....which really made the whole situation even more awkward. Kurumi felt a strange yet familiar warmth when Lewis shook her hand back and she found herself chewing on her bottom lip.
She really should be heading back to her common room and putting the finishing touches on her other homework and getting some last minute OWL studying done. Not to mention that she needed to write home...
Lewis was saying right a lot. Ironically, when they actually got inside he had to make a left to head towards the Hufflepuff common room and she was the one that needed to make the right. So not the point, but Kurumi was temporarily amused by this.
When he released her hand, Kurumi expected him to turn and walk away...but he didn't. Was he going to walk her all the way to her own common room? Because he really didn't have to do that and then he would get caught out of his own after hours and get in trouble. So, when she saw him take a step away and in the direction of the kitchens, Kurumi took a small step back towards the stairs.
" Thank you again, for inviting me tonight," she said because she felt like something needed to be said. " I really had a good time." Who wouldn't doing homework, right? " I'll see you tomorrow then." Because they would be in the Great Hall around the same time for breakfast and then there was the Quidditch match.
Smiling at him and actually offering him a small bow, Kurumi backed up a bit more and waited until the last second to turn her back to him to head up the stairs towards her common room. Lots of stairs to climb...and think about things as she did so.

| be curious, not judgmental The sun had begun it descent in the sky. As much as Max enjoyed his nighttime walks out on the grounds, he felt that he should return to the common room tonight. He expected it would have a much more joyous, celebratory atmosphere than normal. Of course that was to be expected. After the match, he had gone to see Ellie. That had been nice, but he needed some time to cool down from all the excitement and reflect on things - the game, Ellie, the team, unsportsmanlike conduct, OWLs, and their upcoming championship match. He came to the conclusion that, upon given the opportunity to sleep away the remainder of the term, he would take it.
As he moved through courtyard from the grounds, he looked up at the sky above him, the light fading from it. He sighed. April weather was his favorite - a prime time of year to enjoy the outdoors. Though he would have gladly stayed outside all evening, he rounded a corner, his hands in his pockets, and headed down the corridor in the direction of the entrance hall.

Actually, Treyen was heading the opposite direction. The Head Boy was leaving the Castle and heading towards the Courtyard...and the off to the grounds. At this hour? When everyone was supposed to be heading inside? Exactly.
He had no intentions of stopping either, until he saw the one person he'd wanted to talk to this awful day. YES, awful, because he mostly spent it in the Hospital Wing instead of the Pitch, and he'd felt horrible too. But now that Ellie was okay, then he, consequently, felt better. "Max!" he called out, not loud enough because the Ravenclaw Keeper was coming his way, but Treyen still caught up with him. "I've been wanting to speak to you." Like, as soon as Ellie woke up, because he hadn't felt like talking up until that point. "But first, congrats on winning." Now they were facing each other again, which turned out to be extremely amazing that last time. A worthy opponent...for Lewis, because that kid was awesome.

He looked up from his shoes to see Treyen. Just the guy he really didn't want to see. Not just now - ever. Treyen made him uncomfortable. Maybe it was just that he always worried the Head Boy would accuse him of pursuing his girlfriend, though that wasn't the case at all. No matter how much Max liked Ellie, he knew his boundaries. He hoped Treyen trusted him, too.
"Hi Treyen," he greeted, the corners of his mouth lifting in a soft smile. He's been wanting to speak to me? That couldn't be good. Despite his uneasiness, he simply replied, "Thank you." It wasn't that he didn't trust Treyen's congratulations - it was more that Max dreaded what their win meant: playing Hufflepuff again. Max cleared his throat and dug his hands into his pockets nervously, waiting for him to go on.

And then the boy cleared his throat? How come there was some sort of awkwardness on behalf of the Ravenclaw? Did he always behave this way? Probably. Though, Keepers tended to have some sort of confidence...or was it Chasers? No, he was pretty sure Keepers were the ones to have it.
Anyway, "Next game looks promising." And Treyen should try to stop making small talk right about now. He truly didn't feel like discussing Quidditch at all, even if what he was about to say was closely related. "Either way," yes, this is it, Max, "I wanted to thank you," he was being completely honest, one could see he really meant it, "For being there for Ellie when I couldn't." Basically, that. "And I don't mean just yesterday, but...always." The Ravenclaw was altogether the best person to take care of his girlfriend, even if Treyen was around, as it happened when their last match ended. "Thank you." His smile just widened a little bit more.

It always was with Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff in the classic battle for the Quidditch Cup.
As Treyen moved along from the pointless chatter that often occurred at the beginning of conversations, Max braced himself only to be surprised as... Treyen thanked him? In a tone that seemed to be of utmost sincerity? His gaze dropped back down to the ground as the Head Boy spoke, feeling his cheeks grow warm. "I," he paused, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand, "um, just care about her, too, y'know?" His face contorted at his words, struggling to make such an admittance, even though it was obvious to anyone that knew Ellie and Max that he cared about her very much. He raised his head to find Treyen smiling at him. He really wasn't upset that he carried his girlfriend all the way to the hospital wing from the Quidditch pitch yesterday? Max may have underestimated him. "She can be a handful. You shouldn't have to be the only one to look out for her all the time. I'm happy to help." And he was.
Ellie was worth any trouble.

Ellie was worth any trouble. Beyond good, he was one hundred percent positive. He only hoped not to get more drama from Vindictus. The Head Boy was still going to land as far away from the man, just in case. Still, Treyen nodded once Max stopped commenting.
Now back to the 'Thank you' part. And he nodded again, "Of course, I understand," didn't he care about Arya too? She was his best friend at Hogwarts, and he gladly took care of her in Sabel's place. That's what best friend do, no? So, Treyen understood what Max meant, but the blushing was not necessary, really. He was probably embarrassed or something, Treyen couldn't tell, nor did he care about the blush to find out either. This particular Ravenclaw was probably too shy, and it's not like they'd spoken too many times either. 'She can be a handful'. He wasn't sure if he'd agree with that statement, mainly because Ellie only had one thing on her mind. Quidditch. So, in all honesty, she wasn't much of a handful, Quidditch was. However, given her relation to Quidditch, then she was a handful too, but Treyen failed to see that. He didn't comment about it, because something else Max said sparked his attention. "I'm glad you say that." Here's the reason why. "Very glad, actually, because...I'm not going to be around next term...," at least he was finally accepting that, "...and it'd be nice to know that I can count on you to keep an eye, or both, on her." Regardless of whether they were still together or not.
Yes, Max, he was asking you to keep on doing what you've been doing so far.

As Treyen spoke, Max very subtly reached one arm over to scratch the other and lightly pinched himself in the process. He thought maybe he could've stumbled and hit his head while he was out on the grounds and was currently in a sort of dream... but, of course, he seemed to be wide awake. Max had never anticipated such kindness from Treyen. Though... should he have been insulted that Treyen didn't see him as even the slightest threat?
He supposed not. Max's reputation of just being the 'nice guy who was simply just a nice guy' kind of eliminated any possibility for guys to see him as competition.
"Of course I'll look out for her for you," he almost laughed. He would certainly look out for Ellie. He did that as if it was his job now anyway. "I mean, with you being gone... I can't imagine she'll take that well..." He was rubbing the back of his neck again, a contemplative expression on his face. He was trying to decide if Ellie would be the type to frequently cry over his absence or if she would put on a brave face. He wasn't quite sure what to expect from her. Though Ellie was very tough, she was still a girl. Max did his best to understand them, but time and time again they surprised him.
"Yeah, I've got your back. You can count on me." He saluted.

"Yeah, I've got your back. You can count on me." He saluted. Treyen was incredibly relieved. He, of course, had no reason to believe Max wouldn't keep on taking care of his best friend, but it didn't hurt to know for sure.
Another nod was given to Max as he answered, but..., "No, I think she'll take it well." She would, because she'll be free to focus on Quidditch entirely, which was what scared him the most. The Head Boy was certain she was going to do a lot of practicing next term, especially if she wanted to go Pro once her time at Hogwarts ended. But still. More Quidditch was a thought that worried Treyen. Good thing she'll be in good hands, then. And hopefully, Max will be on the team next year too. Something told Treyen that Max'd take care of her even if he wasn't on the team.
Either way, the Hufflepuff boy knew Ellie was strong enough not to mind her boyfriend being out of sight.
One firm nod confirmed the fact that he agreed with Max's words. "Perfect."
But..., "Everything okay with you?" it mustn't have been easy to carry her yesterday.

But..., "Everything okay with you?" it mustn't have been easy to carry her yesterday. Would she take it well? Treyen should know best, so Max's demeanor softened. That was good. He didn't mind being Ellie's shoulder to cry on, but he was relieved he wouldn't have to see her in a broken state on a regular basis.
"Yeah," he replied, a bit taken back by Treyen's question. "I think so. I'm... happy that we won yesterday." Kind of. He was happy for the team and his house, but it just meant more stressing over Quidditch on top of OWLs. It wasn't that he didn't want Ravenclaw to win yesterday - it just would've been a bit of a relief to be rid of practices and expectations to be great on the pitch. He dug his hands back into his pockets. "I'm happy that the weather is nice again." Minus the bugs. He paused, drawing a blank on anything else he may have been happy about. "I... yeah, I guess I'm okay. Everything okay with you?"

"I... yeah, I guess I'm okay. Everything okay with you?" Mmmhmm. Good. Yeah, well, he should be happy, now he needed to practice even more to face them, considering Keefer had doubled their practices too. Not that the Ravenclaws knew that, right? Though, if the Pitch could be seen from their tower...then they knew.
Wait, what? Weather? "I suppose that's good." Treyen was going to miss the snow, but he'd much rather take his walks on a sunny day instead. The Whomping Willow seemed more at ease over spring too. Except for the birds. "Nice to know," he said, before giving him another smile, another genuine smile. And Treyen? "I'm okay now." Now that his girlfriend was awake.
So, anyway, "Well, I...guess I should keep on...walking, then." And not take much more of his time, right? "But, thanks again, Max." |

'Now,' he assumed, because of Ellie. He understood. He was glad Ellie was okay - though he also knew her speedy recovery to mean a prompt reboot of Quidditch practices. No rest for the best, he imagined her saying. That... actually wasn't a bad Quidditch captain motto. Hm. He made note to mention that one to Ellie. Maybe she would shout that at the younger ones during practices.
Max removed his hands from his pockets now, nodding in agreement. "Yeah," he agreed, "it was nice talking to you. No need to thank me. I'll see you... at the match, if not sooner." He lifted his hand for a brief moment as if to shake Treyen's hand for some reason, but dropped it within an instant. They were friends, right? It had been an informal conversation. He... didn't need to do that. Right. "Bye." He continued down the corridor, shaking his head and sighing at his awkward disposition. Maybe one day he would grow out of that.

He was agreeing with Max on many things. Not verbally, but still agreeing. Another nod left his head.
Same here, Max, same here.
Very likely, it was, for them to meet on the match rather than sooner, since this was a Ravenclaw difficult to spot. No more than the Yearbook Editor, of course, but at least Treyen knew where the latter one could be found. "See you, Max." Was he going to shake his hand, though? At one moment he thought he was. Weird. Treyen would've done so, though, if Max had offered, but it was hardly necessary.
Now he could keep on going wherever he was headed to before.

Ella had been searching the castle for the perfect spot to place her PSA. She wanted to place it somewhere where there was a lot of foot traffic, that way many students would see her hard work. She was on her way to the grounds when she stopped short in the corridor to the courtyard, looking around. This was the perfect spot! The weather was now beautiful which meant many students would be going from the castle to the courtyard during the day, thus walking down this very corridor. What better place could there be to place her PSA?
Standing on her tiptoes, the first year reached up as high as she could and stuck her poster to the wall. She had to jump a few times to get the top corners to stay put. When the badger was done, she stood back and admired her work. Her poster looked pretty great against the cold bare walls of the corridor. It definitely stood out. Ella smiled to herself, hoping that even one student would avoid trouble with a skrewt by reading her PSA. She kind of wished she'd seen one herself before encountering the creature not once, but twice!
After another hard look at her work, Ella turned on her heel and headed back towards the castle so she could think of three spells that would best suit someone in an encounter with a dangerous creature.
