Hmm, this little Slythie had a good question. "Well, I think owls are trained and bred for certain homing characteristics. They're like those Muggle carrier or homing pigeons, do you know what I'm talking about? Neither bird can read, but if they have been trained by their owner well enough, they will not stop flying until their letter has been delivered to the rightful addressee and they have returned home."

He squinted down at the girl, wondering if that made sense at all.

"Sureeeeeee," William shrugged, folding his arms again. "What do you want to know? How to approach one? What NOT to do around one? What TO do around one?"

He could probably even give the kid a few books, like his personal favorite, How To Be Around Animals Without Becoming One Yourself by Gary F. Were. Heh.

"Alright then" Jen wanted to ask more questions like What if its a new place they never been before. But since the professor was probebly busy, it would be rude.

"Theres something wrong with my owl" She said, holding it up so the professer could see. "She's been squacking uncontrolably and flapping her wings all the time. she's usually such an obedient owl, but its like she flipped and shes been acting all crazy! And now this week she just crashed and now she can barely move! Maybe she was going to lay eggs or something, who knows."

Hmmmmm, well If Oakey had to choose it would be what to do around one. During his hands on experience with the Wild Hippogriff he learned how to approach one, and that playing dead was not a good option when being around one.

I like the last one Oakey said with a smile. It had occurred to him that this was the first one-on-one experience he had with any professor outside of class.

"You're welcome." Williamson waited at his door, watching the girl as she looked like she still had another question on her mind.

How did one become a professor? "Well, you apply when there's a job opening..." he started slowly, scratching at his chin a bit. "But first you would need to become something of an expert in a chosen field and would probably want to spend years working in that field and attending university in that field."

Did that make sense?

Awww, poor owl. Williamson slowly stretched out his long arms and took the owl in them, gently prodding her in places. The owl remained quiet for him, at least.

"Maybe she was going to nest," Willy mused. "Did she try to start collecting like twigs and lint or anything soft like that? And what did she crash into?" He was worried that the owl had a head injury or something.

"Well when you see a DOMESTICATED hippogriff, or at least one that has had some training," William slipped into lecture mode, "you'll want to approach it very slowly, never blinking or losing eye contact with it. They're very proud creatures, you see." He nodded and continued. "Then you'll want to bow deeply and wait for the hippogriff to return the bow. Once you've got that bow, it's a sign to approach.

"Then you'll want to gently, quietly pat and pet the hippogriff and feed it a dead ferret or weasel if you have one. Don't be loud, obnoxious, or insulting around it, because they're smart creatures and they KNOW. They can understand you. If the hippogriff is feeling particularly nice, you might even get to ride it."

He eyed Oakey. "Does that help?"

Selena's cruppy had a serious issue. Like... a SERIOUS issue. Selena's squirming cruppy wasn't cooperating right now either, like he KNEW his owner was going to have him checked over. Plus, he was trying to lick the pygmy puff on her head. Which was exactly why she was here. "Stop it Clarke," Selena huffed, squishing the cruppy a little more. Why was it that when Selena wanted the dog-like creature to behave... he chose not to?

And she also wanted to ask about the unicorn. And sorta apologize to the professor for staying in the forest... all she had wanted to do was RIDE it. Was that really a crime? Psht. Of course not. Selena put Clarke on the floor, making sure she held onto the leash tightly before knocking on the door. She wondered if the professor like peanut butter and jelly bean sammiches.

Willy whipped open his door, the thing nearly blowing out of his hand as a brisk March wind caught it at just the wrong time. He was surprised to see the squirmy cruppy in Selena's hands, having almost forgotten that the girl had pets other than pygmy puffs, but he gave her a welcoming smile regardless.

"Hello, Prefect Z," he greeted the girl, "what can I help you with today?" He'd just been about to make some lunch, but she was welcome to join him anyway.

"Haiiiiii professoooooor," Selena chirped looking up at the professor. What was with these tall professors? Weren't there any tiny ones? Like goblins or something? She pointed at the cruppy with her hand. "Clarke keeps licking Kent." Yup. Serious issue. Because she didn't think it was NORMAL. Of course Selena would know what normal was, she was an EXPERT on what was considered normal.

At first, William thought Selena had said, 'Clarke keeps licking lint,' and he wondered what the girl was doing with an excess of lint. Maybe the house elves were not doing a good job of taking care of laundry these days, who knew. Hmm hmm.

Ooh, PB&J! "Lemme see sammich!" the professor changed the subject abruptly, looking all around Selena rather like a hungry crup. "I was just about to have lunch, so you have perfect timing." Also, he didn't know what time she was talking about making him mad, so that was whatever.

He took a step back into the hut, motioning for her to follow, and cast a glance over his shoulder at the pup crup. "I doubt he's broken," he chuckled, reaching a hand out to take the dog. "But I'll look at him anyway. Just be warned, I do have a crup living in my desk too." So hopefully they would get along for the duration of the visit.

Oakey looked up and starred at Professor Williamson as he went on about what to do around Hippogriffs. The expression on his face looked like Oakey was spacing out but he was taking it all in, really he was. MmmHmm...Uh-huh...Okay...yeah...Uh-huh Oakey threw those in at different points during the quick lecture.

I got it, Thanks Professor. Oakey said coming out of his small trance.

Jen just gave a slight smile as if to say "thankyou" and skipped away.

Laura knocked on the door and then sat down, she was going to wait and hope the Professor would have time, the Blast-Ended Skrewt had scared her when it went after her, she had only been trying to keep everyone safe, though maybe she should have left that to the Professor and at first the creature didn't seem so harmful to Laura.

What, was he really boring the kid that much??! Williamson almost didn't even notice that Oakey wasn't paying attention until he said 'thank you' and snapped out of it.

"Well.... all right.... you're welcome, I suppose..." he muttered, shaking his head at the boy. "See you around, Oakey. Be careful out there."

Who knew what would attack the Hufflepuff next.

She wanted to offer him as many Pygmy Puff babies as he wanted partly because he was a Care of Magical Creatures Professor, and partly for what he had done for her and Zayden. She wouldn't really talk to him about it, but his advice and willingness to talk to them greatly helped... she was forever thankful for what he had done for them.

She only wished she had something better than Pygmy Puffs to give him in order to show her appreciation

Willy was about to retreat back into his office when he saw a familiar Hufflepuff heading his way with a box of... a box of something fluffy??!!!!

"Amelia?" he called out eagerly, craning his neck to try to see into the box. "Whatcha got there?" He was as curious as a kneazle right about now.

Amelia was leaning into the box to look at the Puffs more when Professor Williamson addressed her. She almost jumped, which would have been a bad thing seeing as there were Pygmy Puffs in her lap.

"My Pygmy Puff just had a lot of babies," she explained now thinking that they were way too loud for their own good. "I thought you might want some?" Or just one? None at all? :33
