The old Divination tower, which has recently lay bare, and unused, is today open again for business. The empty classroom has been opened, dusted, cleaned, and is now welcome for the students to come along. The desks have been laid out in an unusual pattern, in a large semi-circle, facing the front, allowing for demonstrations to occur in the middle.
The visiting speaker, Vanessa Paton Healer Intern, is sitting at the front, next to a couple of boxes of equipment, awaiting the arrival of the students. She is very excited about teaching the students, as the topic is a favourite of yours. Behind her, is a blackboard with some instructions charmed on.

Welcome. Please take a seat. On the desk you’ll find a piece of parchment. Please write your name ,house, and year on it. I hope you enjoy the lesson
[[Ooc: Hey Guys! We’re gonna officially start in a couple of hours, probably around 3PM gmt. Make sure you follow the rules we don’t want you losing any points!!]]
Oh, goodie! Practical part!, Gwendolyn thought and wanted to volunteer. However, noticing that many other students already volunteered, she lowered her hand. Meh… maybe another time, the girl told herself and looked back at the Healer, thinking of a possible answer to the question she just asked. However, she didn’t say anything right away. Nope, she decided to listen first to what the others said, letting the information sink in. Now- what else is there?, the third year asked herself.
‘Erm… shouldn’t we try to raise the patient’s hand so that there’s less blood going to the wound?’Wasn’t it harder for the blood to go up if the hand was raised? Hmm? ‘And how about applying a tourniquet… ?’If there is a severe injury?

The professor's question seemed to be a logic question so Violet raised her hand, "If it's a small cut, cleaning the wound first and then put a band-aid on it. If it's a big gash, I'd think you would put some pressure on it to stop or slow down the bleeding and call someone for help." Always having someone with you is a great idea.
Violet looked at the girls on the ground and tried to get a better view of them.

Now as the two girls were setting the scene with the special make-up, the Gryffindor listened to the question they were all just asked and then raised his hand. "Ma'am, pressure is often needed in order to get the person to stop bleeding."
Vanessa smiled, noticing how the student had leant forward to watch the two volunteers in action. “Yes. Pressure will help stop the bleeding, reducing the risk of the person getting seriously hurt.” Which was a good thing really

Oooh. Vanessa was glad that these students’ mums knew how to look after cuts. It was very good news indeed! “That is true. If we don’t keep the wound covered, it might get infected, which wouldn’t be fun at all

Absently watching to see what was happening to his girlfriend, he looked up as they were asked how to handle a cut. "Ye should elevate the cut while ye out pressure on it, lifting it above yer heart if ye can." That would lessen the blood floo if he remembered what he was told during his own injuries over the years.
”Yes!” Vanessa nodded with a big smile. “Elevation is an important part, because when we bleed our vital organs might not get as much blood. So elevation will improve the flow of blood back to the vital organs such as our hearts, and lungs.” Which was very important.

”Yes.” Vanessa nodded with a big smile. It was a good thing that so far all the students knew what to do, it would hopefully make the practical more easy. “Very true.”

Woow. This student really did know a lot. Maybe she should be teaching the seminar instead of her. “All true.” Yup. Vannie was impressed by this student. Very impressed. Maybe she deserved a gold star? She did have some in her bag after all

Of course if they were bleeding bad that wouldn't do much good. Oh well that was her answer and she was sticking to it.
”Yes we can.” Vanessa mused with a smile. “It would depend on how severe the wound is, because sometimes a band aid wouldn’t be enough.” Not really. Which was understandable really. A band aid wouldn’t be that effective if you’d nearly chopped your arm off.

]A banger? What was a banger? Vanessa kind of looked a little blank as she watched the student. Was it just her, or did nobody know what a banger was? “And what would a banger be?” Because she really had no clue.

Good answer. Vanessa liked it. She nodded with a smile. “Correct.” It was important to cover the wound, because it could get infected, but hopefully that was nice and obvious. Otherwise she’d have to say it again, of course.

”Yes. That is correct!” She was glad that someone had mentioned about different degrees of wound. “A bandage probably would do. You’d just have to keep a check to make sure the blood doesn’t come through the bandage

Vanessa nodded with a smile. “Calling for help is correct. You might get someone with better experience than you, so that’d help in making the person bleeding better.” Which kind of made sense. In a way.

When asked a question on how to stop bleeding, ira raised her hand and answered, "Ma'am, firstly, you have to clean the area and then bandage it.. But my father used to say that id we were hurt by a rusted Iron object, then it is better to let the blood flow out for a minute, so as to remove the infected blood and then bandage up." At least something like that her father used to tell her, but then again, she had never paid much attention to his explanations.
”Well…that can work.” Because well if you got a needle stick injury you were supposed to bleed it. So it could work in a way. “But bandaging the wound is good, because it’ll provide pressure, allowing the wound to stop bleeding.” That was what was hoped anyway.

The healer said that she's gonna use special make-up thingy to make like the Slytherin Quidditch captain cut herself. Then after she finished with the two captains, Mrs. Peton asked her next question. Messer raised his hand back in the air "We use the band-aid, Ma'am." That one or a bandage.
”Correct.” Vanessa smiled. Hopefully everyone knew how to put band aids on, because that was kind of basic, and she wouldn’t be teaching it. Not unless someone asked of course.

”The bleeding might not necessarily stop.” Vanessa nodded with a smile at the young student. “We just need to bandage the wound, so that it’s got more chance of stopping bleeding. The wound might need more medical treatment though to get it to stop bleeding altogether.

”You do have to clean it, but in some cases you can’t leave it in the open, because the cut might be too deep.” Meaning that it wouldn’t stop bleeding, which would be bad. “You’d just cover it up and hope it stops”

Daichi had been shifting more uncomfortably in his chair when the healer announcend to be wanting volunteers. But when the two captains raised their hands he sighed in relief. He was more curious to watch rather than participate since he was scared he would do something wrong and the class would laugh at him, or something.
Listening to the healer, he sat at the edge of his seat to lean on his table a bit to see what was happening. ''Professor?! ...eh i mean, Healer Paton. We use gauze pads to still the blood" he said after holding up his arm. "My mother used it on my leg once when i fell of a swing!" ...why did he sounded so proud? "She told me that the gauze pads hold the blood so that it sticks together... i think... can't really remember.. but it was something like that~" he nodded his head frantically as he smiled.
"Or use magic..but i'll probably blow the person up.." eeeh.. and that was no lie. He already had blown the ex-slytherin prefect up in the room of requirement.
This cute student did make her laugh. Blow someone up. “Well blowing someone up is not very good!” Not very good indeed. “Good thing I’ll teach you how to bandage someone, rather than teach you the magic way…” Might be a bit more safe.

”You should always call for help if you think it’s a bad cut.” Vanessa nodded with a smile, glancing towards her two volunteers. Perfect they were nearly done. “Getting help will probably mean the person will get healed faster.”
”You’ve all done very well answering that question.” Vanessa smiled at the students. “It’s important that you know how to care for someone who’s bleeding , so that you might be able to help if you see someone in the corridor. If you find someone bleeding, you should either get them to lie down or sit down, because they might faint. So by lying them on the floor, this’ll reduce the space that have to fall, which should hopefully also prevent other injuries. You should then get the person to raise the hurt limb if possible, and their legs. This will promote the blood to go back towards the heart, and vital organs. This’ll stop the injured person getting faint. Hopefully anyway. Vannie waved her wand at the blackboard, getting it to bring a list of what to do.
”We’d then apply pressure to the wound. If the person is able to do this there selves, it is perfect. This frees up both of our hands to open the sterile bandage, and bandage the wound. We would of course put gloves on, sterile would be best, because this would reduce the chances of the wound getting infected.” which was a very big thing. ”It bleeding comes through this first bandage, just put a second bandage on, and if the bleeding persists get further medical help.” Because well. They obviously wouldn’t be able to deal with it on their own.
Now. I’m going to show you want we’d do to deal with someone who is bleeding. And we have our victim right here.” Vanessa turned to her two volunteers and smiled at them. “Great work…” She smiled at Kimalia. “You can return to your seat Kimalia.” Vanessa nodded with a smile, and she reached into her box, pulling out some sterile gloves. ”I’m also going to show you how to put on sterile gloves. You don’t necessarily need to practice this. Not if you don’t want too.” Vanessa nodded, as she opened the package.
”With sterile gloves, you have to be careful not to touch the outsides, because this will mean that they are not sterile, so that’d defeat the idea of the gloves. Carefully put the gloves on, using this cuff, which we are able to touch. Don’t worry if you can’t do this. It is kind of hard. Once you have one glove on, you are fine to touch the outside of the other, which means it’s easier to get the second one on.” Vanessa had had much practice and this so she was okay. “Now, there is a special spell that we can use to conjure gloves. It’s called Caestus Coniuro. Don’t worry if you can’t do the spell though, because I’ve brought some with me. So you can come up here and grab some if you want.” It wasn’t that bad really. She didn’t mind them not using the spell. “The wand movement is pretty easy, just a circle.” She explained, showing the wand movement to the students.
There’s also a spell to conjure bandages. Which is pretty useful, because in some circumstances we won’t have bandages. The incantation is Inurio Bani. If you can’t do the spell, don’t worry because I brought some bandages with me as well.” She pointed to the box, before kneeling down next to Selena. “For the purpose of the demonstration we’re gonna pretend that Selina can’t put pressure on her own wound. Let’s just say she’s scared of blood, and so can’t face putting her hand on the wound. In this case I’d take a hold of the wound with one hand, pressing my hand over the wound. With her left hand, she pressed it against Selinas fake wound. “This should hopefully slow down the flow of blood, making it easier to bandage. This is also where the spell comes in pretty useful, because we’re able to use the spell, with one hand. Inurio Bani.” Vannie waved her wand, performing the incantation, and the bandages came out her wand, landing on her lap. “Don’t worry about getting the bandages on the floor, as they will remain sterile. You now will need to carefully wrap the bandage around the wound, making sure that you cover it all up. It shouldn’t be too tight, because we don’t want to cut the circulation off.” Pausing in her speech, she quickly wrapped the bandages around Selena’s arm, tucking the end in, so it was nice and neat.
“And there we go. Selina’s arm is now covered. If the blood was to come through we’d apply a second bandage. Can we all give Selina, and Kimalia a big clap for being such good volunteers?” Vanessa smiled, motioning that Selena could return to her seat. ”If you’d pair up, you can all have a go at doing a bandage. The supplies are up here if you need anything. And feel free to ask any questions.”
OOC: Okay. We’ve come to the practical part of the lesson. Partner up. All you need to do is give each other a fake wound, and then bandage each other up. 5 good posts are needed for full points. Have fun with this guys.

Lewis had been scribbling notes down like a madman the first part of the lesson, trying to make sure he was really writing down even the tiniest bit of information this woman had to offer. While he hoped that this was something he never ever had to apply ever, knowing what he was supposed to do would come in handy if he ever did find somebody who had been injured.
Humming Mc Hammer's U Can't Touch This under his breath without actually realizing he was doing so, Lewis tried to make rough sketch of the sterile gloves with arrows and little notes on how to put them on. Well, the Intern had said they weren't allowed to touch parts of the gloves. Or the whole outside of the gloves actually. He added Caestus Coniuro -> circle too just in case he broke - de-sterilized - the gloves the Mrs. Paton had brought along for them.
He then proceeded to mutter Inurio Bandi so he would remember it, while watching the Healer Intern demonstrate how to put a bandage on. Well, this didn't look so difficult. Somehow to him the putting-on-the-gloves-part sounded the most difficult. Well, he was going to just have to see how things worked out during the practical part.
Talking of which...Lewis clapped absently when Mrs. Paton told them too but was already scanning the room anxiously for a familiar face to partner up with him. Which of course there wasn't. Ugh. Maybe he could practice on himself. So biting his lip the Hufflepuff simply continued to let his eyes dart around nervously. Maybe somebody would take pity on him.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
After the Healer was done explaining and the two volunteers were done too, Daichi clapped his hands as Healer Paton had asked and became more curious as the minutes passed by. At first he had been scared for the lesson but... it wasn't so bad. At least the blood was fake!
And he didn't have to use magic to conjure the things he needed for the practical part. Because he sometimes felt more muggle than wizard..so he sighed in relief when the Healer said she had some gloves and bandages at the ready.
But first he needed to find a partner. "Anyone want to be my partner?" he asked as he looked around at the students in the room.

Amelia was scribbling notes down as fast as she could while she listened to the instructor. She wanted to take in as much as she could, because she was now really wanting to be a Healer after this lecture.
Seeing a boy who looked like he needed a partner, she wandered over to him. "I'll work with you." She smiled at him.

Lewis looked away sharply from a Slytherin boy (Daichi) who had just asked if anybody needed a partner. He had just been pondering over whether or not we was brave enough to actually walk up to the boy when all of a sudden there was a girl next to him. Talking to him too. Stating that she was going to work with him. Huh.
After a moment of hesitation, Lewis just nodded and even managed to conjure up a small smile. She was a fellow Hufflepuff after all. And they were all nice. At least he thought they were. "Good." And then because that's usually what people did he added, "I'm Lewis."Hello!
Right. Equipment. They would have to "make a wound" too, right? Like Mrs. Paton had. "Are you any good with make-up?" She was a girl. They were usually pretty good with that stuff. If not then they would have a bit of a problem. Because HE definitely wasn't good at anything that involved make-up.

Awww, this boy seemed so shy. It was adorable. "Nice to meet you, Lewis. I'm Amelia." Maybe she could get him talking to her a little if they were going to be working together.
She nodded when he asked her if she was good with makeup. "I think I can make it look realistic."
As soon as the two girls finished, Gwen clapped her hands. They deserved a round of applause, right? After all, they did do something…, the third year thought and, suddenly turned her head towards the Healer. Errr… partner? Really? In this class to? Hmph. Let’s see- is there anyone still without a partner?, she asked herself and looked around. Ack- this is going to be harder than expected…
‘You there’, Gwendolyn gestured with her hand. ‘Still need a partner?’, the Ravenclaw asked, hoping she wouldn’t have to keep searching. Wait- haven’t I seen you around?, the third year thought.
Alyssa quickly called out to Daisy. "hey Daisy. I'll partner with you if you don't mind?"
Daisy looked up, how hadn't she noticed Alyssa was in the lesson?
'Hi Alyssa,' she grinned at her fellow Hufflepuff, walking over to her. 'Sure, i'll work with you. How hadn't I noticed you in the lesson already?' she asked, mainly to herself. She was just about to apply a fake wound to Lyssie, deciding she would go first, when she looked up, puzzled. 'How am I meant to make a fake wound?' she asked, thinking it would be best to have a look at what others were doing before making a mess of anything on Alyssa's arm...

Louisa had listened to the woman very closely, scribbling down some notes she found important and new like the way they should wear the sterile cuffs and of course the two spells that Louisa was more than happy to use. She already knew the bandage conjuring one but the other would be fun to practice.
SPOILER!!: Louisa's Parchment
Extra Class
To conjure sterile cuffs: Incantation: Caestus Coniuro. Wand Movement: a circle.
To conjure bandages: Incantation: Inurio Bani. Wand Movement: a swoop.
"Caestus...Caestus...Caestus Coniuro... Caestus Coniuro.." murmuring to herself over and over again. Then was the wand movement, she shut her mouth as the wand made continuous circle movements.
Well.. it wasn't a charms lesson, right? "Anyone needs a partner?" Louisa called out, still practicing the movement of the spell.

Alyssa almost laughed out loud when Daisy asked how she could make a fake wound. "Haven't you fallen and hurt yourself before? If not, gosh! you are lucky. I've had so many bloody scrapes that I'm amazed I'm not covered in scars. I guess you use the fake blood that Healer Paton used earlier on the volunteers, and smear it on my arm to make it look like a bad and bleeding cut. You can make it look gory. Too bad we can't use ketchup." Alyssa smiled at Daisy knowing her passion for it.
"After you're done putting on the make up do you want to practice conjuring up your gloves? I definitely want to try to conjure up a pair, once it's my turn to bandage you up. I'll help you put it on if you want."

'Oh, yeah, that I have,' Daisy laughed, realising she must have sounded quite silly, 'but they're on my legs,' she giggled. Daisy took some of the fake blood and smeared it on one of Alyssa's cuts, wishing it was ketchup as her stomach rumbled. 'Yeah, i'm hungry thinking about it now,' she said, not realising how much blood she was smearing on Alyssa's arm until she looked down. 'Ooops,' she grinned, carefully wiping some off. 'Yeah, I'll get some gloves now.'
Daisy pulled out her wand and looked at her notes. 'Caestus Coniuro!' she said, movinng her wand in a circle until the gloves appeared... That was a useful spell, she thought, making a mental note of the incantation as she pulled the gloves on, careful only to touch the cuffs. 'You ready?' she grinned.

Minerva smiled over at Justin. "Well want to be my partner?" she asked as she saw everyone else partnering up.
Justin beamed when Minerva asked if he'd be her partner, " Of course . I'd love to be your partner, Min. " Then he went and sat right next to her and waited for instruction.

Lily looked around to try to find a partner to practice with. Eventually she saw Louisa who looked like she needed a partner. "Hey Louisa, want to be partners?" Lily asked hoping that the Ravvie would partner with her. Quickly while waiting for Louisa to respond, Lily copied down the notes(incantations, and movements).

Isabelle was so excited to practice healing. She was glad that she could attend this class, even if she already knew the basics of healing like this. Izzy pulled out her wand and waved it in a circular motion. "Caestus Coniuro," she said as a pair of gloves came out of nowhere. Careful not to touch the outside of the gloves with her hands she grabbed them by the cuff and pulled them on. Perfect! Now all she needed was a victim.
"Anyone need a heale...erm partner for this activity," Izzy stumbled over her words as she began to say healer. She wasn't a healer yet so she couldn't call herself one. This was just going to be practice for when she actually was a healer.

Now they needed to pair up perfect. She didn't know anybody in the class, but she isn't the bashful type so she scanned the room and seen an older student that was also in Slytherin...perfect. She was all for helping her own house. So she boldly walked up to him and said "I'll be your partner if you like?"

Oh! Louisa grinned at the kid, "Oh, hi Lily! Of course I'll be your partner." Helping the girl to scoot over her chair, the older Ravenclaw allowed herself to look down at the younger's parchment. "Oh, you don't have to do either one of the spells, you know. You just go and get some badnages and cuffs from over there?" She was a firstie, after all. The spells were hard for her to get. Louisa, being a fifth year, would manage to do one after she'd practiced a bit.
"How about you sit down and let me patch you up first? And then it'll be my turn?" Louisa kept her smile on.

"Yep! I am ready. Oh dear....oh dear.... I have cut myself and I'm bleeding badly. Oh dear, I'm feeling faint," Alyssa promptly lay on the floor, turning her head to wink at Daisy before moaning again.

hmm it looked like somebody had already snagged up the boy that she asked to be partners with, but she noticed another girl also from her house asking for a partner so she walked up to her. "Hey I need a partner...wanna team up?" She hoped she would agree. She didn't want to have to circle the class a million times.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

His eyes and ears caught the attention of a Ravenclaw girl as she was gesturing with her hand. Daichi nodded his head if he still needed a partner. "I still need a partner, yes" he smiled as he got up from his seat and walked over to where the girl was sitting.
"I'm Daichi by the way" he introduced himself as he gave a quick bow. "I'll grab the stuff we need, i just know it would take forever for me to conjure them with magic, you can try if you want though.." he laughed weakly as he rubbed his neck and walked towards the front of the room to grab some bandages and gloves for him ... and also for her if she didn't want to use magic either.
