Ravenclaw Study Tables

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...udy-Tables.jpg

Located to the right of the main common room gathering area are the fabled Ravenclaw study tables and library. This is the place where all Ravenclaws gather to study, read books, write poetry and short stories, doodle in sketchbooks, play Wizards Chess, and plan Quidditch strategies.

:claw:Class Notes:claw:

As you make your way to the study tables, you notice pieces of parchment neatly stacked on the very first table you come across. Each of them is labeled according to the class they belong to and some even provide further readings and other helpful sources. These contain notes from all of the classes along with a small note from your Prefects. The note reads: "Feel free to refer to these to complete your homework assignments or study for your finals."

Anyone?

True to her new resolve, the very first thing Presley was doing at school was studying. She knew there were lots of kids who were out having fun, it was Friday evening after all. But if Presley ever wanted her father to love and accept her, she would have to skip her fourth year, and she better start studying for exams and stull now. But what was there to study? She flipped through the books she'd read at least three times each. She practically had them memorized. What she needed was new information. Information that she could focus on and learn about. She folded her arms on the table and leaned forward to rest her head on them. She needed a run.

Hedwig17 01-06-2012 07:24 PM

Éloïse walked into the room and sat down on a chair at the far end of the room. This is amazing-she thought as she looked around the room-lots of books and new things to learn, great! She stood up and picked a random book off a bookshelf This looks interesting. She sat down and started to read.

LuLu stared at the notes on the table awww that meant she didn't need notes no more suckish she prefered to take it her own way... Hmph

Was Luna okay? Presley wondered. She seemed...like Pres a little bit. Normally Luna was the calmer more logical one of the pair, but her sentences were going off all randomly like something Presley would do. "I would love some company," she replied to her best friend. "And actually, I have been looking for you! I haven't seen you all day. I was thinking about Hogsmeade tonight? Or maybe Leo will pick us up and take us out to dinner? As sort of a 'yay we're third years' celebration?" They definitely needed to do something on their first evening back.

Presley suddenly noticed the little kid sitting near her. How had she not seen the girl? She must be going crazy. That was it. "What'cha reading?" Presley asked curiously, dropping all formalities. She was at school, she didn't need to be proper.

LuLu smiled at Pres she seemed to always understand ''Sorry for the outburst, I wouldn't normally be like that.. I dunno I just feel that there is alot of pressure on me... Even though classes have barely started it's just... You know... Blagh!,'' It was getting so bad she was using her hands as actions... R-really?!?! O______o she didn't know how Pres could do these things ''Hate to be Johnny rain cloud or nothing but I don't think your father nor my grandparents would approve on 'going out','' She winked at Pres there was a girl in ear shot so all that could be planned at night or somwhere else, She knew people had a tendancy to listen into other PRIVATE conversations...

Éloïse looked up at the girl sitting near her, Oh no, she's a third year!-she thought.I'm r-r-reading ...-she looked at the front page-..."The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 2"...I've already memorised grade one- she added shyly.

Luna did seem really stressed out, and now that Presley thought about it, that was the most obvious explanation for her less-than-normal behavior. "It's all right, Lu," Presley assured her with a smile. "Don't stress too much, okay? Leo says that a small amount of stress is good, but oo high a level and you actually underperform." There. That should help, right? Leo was smart, and Luna knew that.

She caught her best friends subtle wink, and Presley's eyes cut inconspicuosly to the firstie, clearly asking Luna if that's what she was talking about. It probably was. So playing along beautifully, she shrugged. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Maybe we'll just stay up late and get some good chocolate from the kitchens or something."

Presley smiled at the cute but obviously nervous kid. She remembered when she was that little, being a little in awe of the older students who seemed to know so much. It was weird, thinking that she was now the older student, and no longer in awe of even the sixth and seventh years. They were just normal students to Pres. All hanging out in the same common room, and a part of the same Hogwarts family.

"That's pretty fast reading," she grinned again. "Have you tried out any of the spells yet?" Then remembering her manners, and the fact that she'd no idea who this kid was, "I'm Presley, by the way. But most people just call me Pres."

No last name. Absolutely not. If the child was of wizarding descent, that would simply intimidate her further. And Presley's goal this year was to make the new kids feel welcome, not terrified or anxious. Even if her parents weren't magical, she probably had read enough already to figure out pretty quickly what family Presley was a member of. Besides not scaring the little kid away, Presley wanted to be known for who she was, not who her family was. Like Rachel had been.

Thinking about Rachel sent a slight pang through Presley's heart. In the brief time she'd been friends with the girl, she'd shared some pretty hard secrets. She wouldn't trust so easily again.

LuLu nodded "I guess,'' she replied not that she was really stressing or anything though... It was just an outburst and some stress aswell she didn't know it all seemed wrong..

She smiled she was all happy now, third year communication seemed wicked! ''Yeah i'd love that,'' she nodded she was never as good as actor as Presley seemed impossible she didn't care for acting or dancing or the musical theatre arts, It wasn't somthing she was ever praticularly interested in it just didn't shine out to her in other words! ''So what happened with the whole funding thing Leo did provide it.. right?"

LuLu watched Pres she seemed to be in deep thought after breifly replying to the little girl, she stared at her awkwardly
''... emmm.. E-everything alright Pres?,'' she asked and smiled at the girl again, she seemed nice

Funding. That was still kind of a sore spot for Pres, but she was thankful to LuLu for asking. It showed that she cared, right? "My father decided not to pull it, on a probationary basis." She replied. "Which means 'get all O's Presley, and convince Tate to skip you up a year, and then we'll talk about your dancing' But for right now, I'm still in dance classes, and my cards still work just fine." Muggle credit cards, and her key to Gringotts.

Presley shook herself out of the thought and looked over at her very best friend. "Oh, yeah, sorry. I was just thinking about Rachel." She gave Luna a significant look. Luna had been as much a part of the Rachel drama as Presley had, and it had been difficult for the both of them. Strangely though, Presley couldn't help but feel grateful for Rachel dropping out of thier lives like that. It had brought Luna and Presley closer together.

"I'm sorry I brought it up,," Presleys father was a bully and nothing more than that he didn't seem to realise she was thirteen and could barely handle exams and classes.. But then he expects her to go into fifth year a year to early and get O's in everthing, then of course she needed friends too... Oh Merlin t-that was horrific! "I guess work, work, work this term Pres, need any help with ANY of it I'll try help,"

Rachel.. she sighed at the thoughts she knew she was a total huffie on the subject but she didn't care about that.. She trusted Rachel.. She met Rache before Pres and she was left a third wheel then she got to know Pres and gained their trust and of course they gained hers.... She told Rache everything really.. And she kinda got lost or what ever studys perhaps but what ever happened she never talked to her for the summer avoiding her and pres... She wasn't mad at Rachel that was her choice and she learned the tale of foolish firsties that year.. Anyways now she was never seen by her anyways "Seems foolish doesn't it," she sighed to Pres atleast Pres wouldn't do that

Taylor came into the common room and went to the study tables. She pulled out her care of magicial creatures book and started writing notes as she read the book.

Autumn skipped to the common room and to the study tables. Better take some notes.
She pulled out 4 books, care of magical creatures, muggle studies, potions, and quidditch through the ages (more for fun reading) she pulled the care of magical creatures and got out her parchment.
She turned to water creatures and began to write the key facts down humming as she went.

for Syd! ^__^

Vashti made her way over to the study tables, her large bag full of books slung over one shoulder, a smaller bag of candy over the other. She was intending to do some serious studying today and had made sure to supply herself with enough sugar to give her the energy to do so. Setting the bag of sweets on the table and her bag of books beside the chair leg, the Ravenclaw took a seat and pulled out a textbook at random.

Arithmancy. Oh good, a subject she liked.

She reached into her sweets bag...

A Chocolate Frog. She liked that too.

She flipped open the textbook and started opening the Chocolate Frog wrapper as she began reading.

Monica hadn't made any friends since coming to school. She didn't know who to ask until she saw another girl sitting at the study tables. She cautiously approached her.

"I seem to have misplaced my Care of Magical Creatures book. Could I share with you?"

Dallin probably wasn't going to study. But it was a nice thought, so he thought he'd give it a try. He would probably end of falling asleep, actually. That usually happened when he tried to study; he either fell asleep or got bored after the first few minutes and tried to talk to someone.

And... look who was here from him to talk to. Dallin stopped abruptly when he caught sight of the Head Girl. Who he hadn't seen... sincehekissedher. And that had been a while ago. And it was high time he properly apologized for that.

"Vashti?" He asked, his voice quiet, as he approached her. He stood behind a chair next to hers, looking down at her. "Can I talk to you for a second?" Just for a second. Then he'd leave.

With her focus solely on the textbook and the Chocolate Frog she was munching on, Vashti didn't realize someone was standing behind a chair beside hers until he spoke. She froze. Was that... She glanced out of the corner of her eye and discovered that yes, it was, in fact, Dallin. And he wanted to talk.

Well...talking wasn't a crime. And she had her books and candy nearby to use on him if he tried anything. Because those could totally be used in self-defense.

"Sure, I guess," she answered with a nod.

The wait before Vashti's answer did not go unnoticed by Dallin. He couldn't blame her for thinking about her answer, though. If some girl that kissed him for no reason came up to him and asked to talk... he'd be suspicious, too. But she did say yes. So he pulled out his chair enough to sit down on it, still facing Vashti.

"Okay, I won't bother you for too long." He had noticed her books and figured she was probably studying. "I just wanted to really apologize for what I did." He didn't think he'd have to specify what he was sorry for. Vashti probably remembered. Unless she forced herself to forget the whole thing. "It was a really stupid, jerk thing for me to do. I just wanted to let you know that I know I was stupid."

He sighed, leaning back in the chair and looking up at the ceiling. "I just saw Ellie - we weren't together and everything - and I guess I just wanted her to want me back. And I guess my brain thought the best way to make her feel that way was to make her jealous. And... youwerethere." Should he be telling Vashti all this? Maybe not. But he wasn't going to stop. "And I realized as soon as I kissed you that I should stop. But... I wasn't thinking straight. Obviously." Sighing again, he looked back at the Head Girl.

"I'm just really sorry. I've felt horrible about it since it happened. You... well, you clearly don't deserve to be used like that. And I know that, I promise. And even if you don't want to be around me anymore... I um... I hope that you won't think too bad of me for what I did." Too bad. It was understandable if she thought bad of him, he just didn't want her to hate him.

"Ellie slapped me after you left." He nodded, mostly to himself. "...And I don't know why I just told you that." To let her know that he got in trouble for what he did? Maybe.

Astronomy HW Post #1

Early the next morning, Vickers crept out of the Ravenclaw Common Room, his book bag on his shoulder. In it were the delicate sundial and the nocturnal the Astronomy Professor has lent them. He didn’t look at his watch, but upon glancing out the windows of their tower, the sun was just peeking up from the horizon. He shifted his eyes and can still see the moon in the sky. So which should he use?

He brought out both instruments and lay them on the window sill. The sky was illuminated enough for a morning jog, but no shadows formed on the sundial. He picked up the nocturnal and glanced up at the sky... he could still see the North Star, but it was difficult to spot the big and small dipper to get an accurate reading. Hmm.... he may have to wait a while until the sun is truly up and focus his attention on a sundial reading.

Vashti finished her Chocolate Frog as Dallin began to speak, and she sat there listening and watching as he apologized. She ignored her books completely, though at first she was a bit tempted to let them distract her since this was obviously going to be an awkward conversation.

Once he had started though, it didn't seem as awkward as she thought it would be. Most of it seemed to confirm what she had thought before - Dallin had only kissed her because he wanted to make Ellie jealous and Vashti happened to be the only other girl there. She wasn't sure how she felt about the confirmation though. Proud that she's guessed correctly? Annoyed that that really was the only reason he'd kissed her? She wasn't sure.

That wasn't important though. What was important was the fact that he was apologizing and he knew how stupid he'd been for doing what he did in the first place. And he appeared sincere as he said it all too. Vashti supposed there was no reason for her to continue to be upset him for it...

...especially after that little bit of news. Ellie had slapped him, eh?

"Well," she finally said, "I suppose you've paid sufficiently for it then." She gave him a faint, tentative smile.

For Cornelius Rune

Aspen felt a teensy bit bad that she wasn't specifically using the study tables to "study" for a class, but she was studying. Before her was a letter to her father, a letter to her brother, and one to Aunt Linda. Mostly West and Aunt Linda's letter were polished off, but the one to her father was still giving her trouble.

Partly because she trying to do most of it in gobbledygook, but mostly because of the content.

With a giant sigh, she wadded up another draft and tossed it onto Scrapped Letter Mountain beside her. She heaved another giant sigh as her mind wandered from the letter to the.... subject material of the letter....

Cornelius wasn't expecting to find Aspen sitting at the study tables of the Common Room, at all. This was because, in all honesty, it just seemed too easy. For them to run into one another, it usually took planning or a surprise run-in in the Entrance Hall or something entirely random. But for the both of them to run into one another in an entirely logical place without any planning at all and of pure coincidence? It was almost unbelievable!

And so, grinning, Cornelius made his way over to her and her pile of crumpled papers, about to say something when yet another ball of paper flew towards the pile and in doing so, directly towards the Ravenclaw boy who was walking up unnoticed from that direction. Without second thought, he caught the crumpled piece of paper in one hand before it could join the others, glancing down at it before glancing at the girl sitting at the table. "What did the papers ever do to you?" he teased, flashing her a warm smile before gently placing the paper onto the pile it was destined for.

He suddenly realized just how stressed she looked and his smile fell just slightly before he leaned down to place a brief, yet warm kiss to her cheek. He wondered vaguely what Aspen would think of his newly adopted casual-cheek-kissing-ways, but was still focused on what she had been doing. "What's got you abusing papers?" he wondered aloud playfully, moving around the table to take the seat across from her.

Aspen was convinced she'd just summoned her personal Ravenclaw centaur with her mind. She squinted at him as he approached, not truly believing her eyes. Perhaps her imagining had gotten really vivid lately?

But, Cornelius being Cornelius, who always knew exactly the right thing to do prove/disprove Aspen's wild ideas - came and put his warm smile on her, and equally warm kiss to her cheek. He was no premonition. Aspen pressed her palm over her cheek where he'd put his lips, almost like she was trapping it there.

"Well....,"
as usual, Aspen took his question very seriously. She followed him with her eyes as he sat, then slowly proceeded to answer thoughtfully, "... The papers are innocent, I'm afraid. I can't claim retaliation because the parchment has done its job admirably. The fault is mine and I'm a paper tyrant." Aspen was, at least by appearances, entirely serious. "I'm writing letters. I never wrote to Dad... and it's way past due."
