She laughed, "I know i was in class too." Taylor shrugged, "All of my classes are ok. I'm studying most of my free time but i do get out some." Mostly to see Logan though..... Taylor blushed and laugh at that thought. "So how do you like Hogwarts so far?"

CCCB, they'd called her in the history books....
She just kept on cleaning him for lack of anything else better to do, her expression torn between utter defeat, amusement, and TOTAL humiliation. "Shamefully, yes. It's not a very successful campaign, I admit. Your company seems to be a catalyst for disaster." And yet.... she was smiling. She was also wiping his shoulder for cherry-goo that wasn't actually there, but Aspen Odessa was smiling. How could she not? "Do you usually have this effect or is it just me?"
She was pretty sure of the answer, but maybe... Cornelius was distracted from his own words as he suddenly found Aspen coming towards him with an extra napkin, soon finding that she was cleaning his shirt of any cherry found there. It wasn't all that difficult for her to reach him, his substantial height making his shoulder well within her leaning-across-the-table distance. And so all he had to do was sit there as Aspen decided his shirt needed extra cleaning, watching her with pure amusement in his light brown eyes as she explained that he was, indeed, the catalyst for disaster in her day. "I kinda like that...catalyst for disaster," he repeated thoughtfully, his gaze locked onto her expression, similarly to the way he stared at her in the Common Room, and flashed her a grin. And he noticed she was smiling. What a difference it was so see Aspen's face when she was in the Common Room with a book over her head and when she was cleaning cherry tart off of him with a genuine smile. He couldn't help but look. "I feel like you don't exactly hate the catalyst," Cornelius pointed out, raising his eyebrows at her with a small smile, referring to her own smile.
Maybe it was just him, but it seemed as though Aspen was enjoying his company. Or at least he hoped she did. "That depends on what effect you're talking about," he decided as she asked if she was the only recipient of this 'effect'. "The whole 'catalyst' theory, or this nice smiling thing that's happening on your face?" Cornelius grinned at her, not even acknowledging that she was still cleaning off the cherry tart from his shirt that wasn't even really a stain in the first place.
This wasn't the first time he'd gotten a girl to smile, but there was something about Aspen that made the smile feel earned; something he felt surprisingly proud of.

Feeling she'd finally done her duty in cleaning up her poor, unsuspecting cherry-bombed companion, Aspen returned to her seat. She kept the napkin close at hand though for the inevitable next disaster.
He LIKED being the catalyst for disaster?? Aspen blinked at him, her smile being replaced with something closer to confusion. In fact, was he PROUD to be the reason Aspen kept doing really embarrassing things, like falling out of chairs and drenching them both in cherry-goo? Was that what made him grin so? That WAS confusing.
But he did have one part right: Aspen did not hate the catalyst. She didn't hate that he was proud to be the reason she did kept doing wonky things - wonky even to her. "You feel correctly. I don't hate you. You've been very patient with ...all things me." And even those things that weren't typically her. No, no, Aspen did not hate Cornelius. She... wasn't exactly sure WHAT she felt for him at the moment. "...do you think the two are mutually exclusive? I think," Aspen ducked lower, trying to hide the 'nice smiling thing happening on her face' behind the jug of pumpkin juice, " that the two are interchangeable in my case. I kind of wish the experiment were reversible at this point. Like, if I smile at you, will something embarrassing happen to you? " |

" Cornelius grinned proudly as Aspen confirmed that she didn't hate him, and that he had been patient in 'all things her'. But to him, it didn't feel as though he was having to find patience for all things Aspen, he was just more amused with her than anything else.
He listened as she asked if the two things were mutually exclusive and his eyebrows rose, not quite understanding what she was talking about. But his smile widened as she tried to hide her expression behind a pumpkin juice jug, vague amusement in her expression. He rested his arms on the table, crossing them before himself and listening as Aspen expressed her small wish that the experiment was reversible. Confused, he furrowed his brows at her, and listened as she continued to wonder aloud if something embarrassing would happen to him if she decided to smile at him.
Surpressing his smile just barely, he gave a nod and a bit of a shrug, leaning forward half way across the table and resting his chin on his folded hands as though to show her the face she was experimenting with. "I dunno, maybe you should try me," Cornelius suggested, wondering if she would actually decide to smile at him or instead back out and throw a book over her head. Which, he had to admit, would amuse him endlessly. Aspen seemed to be doing that a lot; amusing him.

Aspen couldn't help but note how very, very, very Ravenclaw the pair of them were. She could see him mentally working through things, same as she was forever doing. It was almost as if they were both have several conversations at once, some aloud, some to themselves, some to each other but without words.
Oh dear....
That.... leaning.... thing!
Aspen sat back from the table, like he was getting too close (he wasn't!). She grabbed the wood beam under the table to support her weight and kept on leeeeeaning back. At least she wasn't under a book or hiding behind a jug?
She wasn't so sheltered that she didn't know he was MAYBE, perhaps teasing her a bit, but being Aspen - she took his try me suggestion seriously. ...Okay. Okay, she WOULD try it out - for the sake of experimenting! DID she, too, possess the stimulus that would cause her fellow 'Claw to do embarrassing things post-smile?
Only one way to find out - "'s a bit awkward," Aspen admitted, first looking down at the table shyly. But she rallied, and more or less ended up just laughing at how ridiculous she was being, then raised her eyes to meet his with a GIANT grinny grin. "Is it working? Do you feel unhinged and maybe a little off in the tummy? Or head?" Like she did when he smiled THAT smile at her???
.....Should they be writing down these results?? |

.....Should they be writing down these results?? Cornelius would've moved back to his original non-leaning stance had he truly been within a foot of Aspen's face, or believed that she was honestly upset with his proximity to her. But he knew that he was only halfway across the table, and so her constant leaning back away from him was simply amusing to the slightly older Ravenclaw. Just as he thought Aspen was about to fall off of her seat, she glanced shyly at the table and mentioned that the situation was a bit awkward.
He gave a shrug, a warm grin still on his expression as he waited to see if she would actually smile at him. And then, in the midst of her own laughter, she looked up at him with a giant grin. Before he even had the chance to appreciate it, she was asking if it was working, suggesting that he might feel unhinged, or off in the tummy or head. Cornelius looked at her for a moment. Just looked at her. His light brown eyes scanned her grinning expression, taking in her features and letting his eyes rest on her for a moment.
And then, very suddenly, he was getting up.
He removed his elbows from the table, and hopped to his feet in one swift movement, flashing her a grin before climbing atop of his own seat and standing up high above the rest of the Great Hall. And, speaking to the masses, he announced, "ASPEN SMILED AT ME!" as loudly as he could, successfully getting the attention he expected, and what others might just find embarrassing?
With his loud announcement over with, Cornelius jumped down from his raised level and climbed back into his seat, running a hand through his brown hair and letting out a sigh as though he'd just gotten up to grab something from down the table rather than having just spoken to the entire Great Hall. And, just when it looked as though he didn't even realize he'd stood up in his own seat, Cornelius raised his expression, locking eyes with Aspen and flashing her a grin.

What....
was....
he...........
Oh dear Merlin.
The experiment had gone ASTRAY! Backfire! Haywire, bananas!
Aspen's smile had NOT caused Cornelius to lose all his good sense and shout in the Great Hall - shout about her in the Great Hall. SURELY not!! She hoped she wouldn't get in trouble for that, and even more, she hoped HE wouldn't get in trouble on her behalf.
But perhaps she'd never know. Quite simply, Aspen Odessa bailed. She didn't wait around to see if Professors would descend from the Staff table or if everyone in the Great Hall would turn and STARE at her. Nope. Aspen slid right between the the table and bench and down to the floor. Her plan was to crawl under the length of the table on hands and knees then make a dash for the door.
Then take a sabbatical from eating in the Great Hall until maybe 7th year. |

Then take a sabbatical from eating in the Great Hall until maybe 7th year. But when Cornelius looked up, no one was there. His smile faltered and then fell entirely, his face went a bit pale, confusion falling into his features. He hadn't expected her to just leave... But how did she get up to leave so quickly? He couldn't figure that out. Suddenly she was just gone, off the bench. But then he heard some kind of movement underneath the table and looked under only to see Aspen on hands and knees, prepared to crawl the length of it.
It seemed as though his plan had backfired. It wasn't embarrassing for him, so much as it was embarrassing for Aspen. Or at least, he was better able to accept the undivided attention, since he as a person tended to be a bit of a wild child when it suited him. Realization settled into his features, and his brows immediately furrowed, staring at the goblet in front of himself. Luckily, it seemed as though the other students of the Great Hall had gone back to their own business, for the most part. Upon realizing this, Cornelius ducked his head under the table, not quite able to understand why Aspen was so embarrassed by him, but understanding that she was embarrassed over something he had immaturely done. Of course his plan had backfired, and just as he was starting to feel like she actually liked him. "I'm sorry..." he muttered to her, wondering if she was actually going to start crawling down the length of the table. "Are you ever going to talk to me again?" Cornelius asked with a weak smile; and though he was joking, he worried that this question was all too appropriate.

Aspen had indeed began to crawl away, but she did stop short when Cornelius spoke to her. She peeked around her shoulder back to where he was leaning down. Again, she had to pause and consider just how very, very, very strange this was. Perhaps everyone DID have the right of it to look at her the way they did, friends, peers, and professors alike. She was, after all, crawling under the table in the Great Hall like a runaway mouse. "It's okay," Aspen assured him. She wasn't mad or upset. Honestly. "And, yes... yes, if you talk to me, I'll talk back. Though I've no idea why you'd want to after this."
Aspen began to crawl again, then stopped short again. One more time, she peeked back at the boy that had just YELLED about her to the whole Great Hall without even an ounce of shame to the whole thing. "You can come with me if you want." She made a quick gesture to her surroundings, the floor under the Ravenclaw House table. He could crawl out with her... if he wanted. In fact, she took a page out of his book and went ahead and offered him her hand - the same way he had offered her a hand out of her chair in the Common Room. He "helped" her up; she'd "help" him down. |

It was a wonder to Ellie how one could be so hungry, yet nothing sounded appealing. She had a bowl of potato soup, a ham sandwich, cookies, a salad, chicken, and a mug of tea. Yet nothing would go in her mouth. Every time it got close to her lips, she felt like she was going to hurl.
It was weird. Ellie never didn't like eating. Guh. This was horrible.
So, she just sat there, the side of her face in her hand. Dead tired. Starving, but not eating. Stabbing her chicken with a knife.

But, as usual, her eyes darted around the room faster than she could control them.
And her eyes landed on the girl she met at the train station. She tilted her head to the side and examined the older girl. She didn't look too well.
She headed over to the blue table and took a seat next to the seventh year. "Hey Ellie." she said. "It would work better if you stuck a fork in the chicken." she said with a smile. Stabbing it with a knife didn't really seem to be doing much.

She hadn't been doing much of that lately. She was so caught up in stabbing the crap out her piece of chicken, that she didn't even notice anyone sit next to her. Ellie didn't even realize anyone said her name.
A voice slightly registered in her brain at the sound of Chicken. Oh... Chicken. Ellie liked chicken... "Huh-oah!" An extremely unintelligent noise escaped her mouth when she realized there was a small person sitting next to her. Ellie jumped away from her, startled out of her wits.
Oh. It was Anya. Ellie dropped her knife on the table and clapped her hand to her chest. "Merlin's beard..." Ellie whispered, trying to slow her heart rate. "You could have killed me, kid." Not literally, but... Whatever.

Cornelius was more than surprised to find that Aspen didn't seem upset with him. The second he found her under the table, he was positive that she wouldn't want to speak to him again; something he wasn't exactly accustomed to. Sure, he'd never stood up on his chair to yell about a girl before, but any kind of wild thing he did to impress a girl before usually got him some kind of points with her. He hadn't really expected this.
It was then that it occurred to him... Was he trying to impress Aspen with that whole announcement? His brows furrowed just slightly at the thought, but he didn't have much time to think about it as in the next moment Aspen told him that it was okay, assuring him that she would talk to him if he ever actually wanted to speak to her again after this. His eyebrows rose.
She had to be kidding.
He'd just yelled out about her in the Great Hall and here she was, worried that he would never speak to her again. Sure, he'd never had a girl duck under a table before to get away from him (something that, he had to admit, sort of stung at first), but it certainly wasn't something that made him angry with her. And in the next moment, she had offered him her hand in the same way he had to her in the Common Room, except now she was offering him the chance to crawl under the Ravenclaw table and escape out of the Great Hall undetected alongside her. Did she even have to ask? Grinning, Cornelius took her hand in his own and ducked beneath the table, joining her beneath it and turning to look at the girl beside him with a warm smile. "C'mon," he prompted, squeezing her hand momentarily before releasing it so they could both begin the crawl towards the exit.

Whatever. Anya turned her head to the side and frowned. Gee, Ellie sure seemed out of it. Was it rude to ask what was wrong?

She just scared Ellie! "Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I thought you heard me. I'm not exactly quiet." Ever. She was a pretty loud kid. "Also. My name is Anya. Not Merlin... or his beard." And she wasn't exactly sure how Ellie got that confused. "Sooooo... the chicken not good?" she asked nodding towards the stabbed piece on Ellie's plate.

Aspen had had plenty of room under the giant tables to escape unnoticed. But adding Cornelius... well, the space shrunk, but she didn't find herself minding at all. In fact, Aspen didn't find herself doing ANYTHING at all but looking at Cornelius, caught up in how close he was. No escaping, no crawling, no moving. Had she ever realized that boys had eyelashes before????
He was doing the smiling thing again. "It's surprisingly clean under here. I bet the Gryffindor floor under their table isn't this clean," she finally whispered. Again, making Aspen wonder if she wasn't missorted, her with her cherry-bombing cheesy breath.
She had questions for this boy, most of them beginning with WHY??, but they'd have to wait. The longer they lingered, the higher their chances of getting caught got. Aspen didn't know of a rule that said students couldn't be UNDER the table, but she imagined one might be created just for her. She took the lead, crawling hands and knees down the long length of the House table.
Aspen only paused when she got to the very, very end. The point where they'd have to crawl in plain sight, or get up and walk out of the Great Hall. There, she waited on Cornelius. ".... run like bandits? Or walk out cool?" Was Aspen capable of cool??? "You won't announce that I'm leaving, will you?" Would he??? Aspen SO wasn't sure.

Deeeep breaths, Ellie...
Once Ellie's heart beat was finally back to normal, Ellie shook her head. "No, It's okay. I was just... in my own world." 'Cause that never happened. Pff... Except it was happening all the time now. And it wasn't good. Luckily it hadn't happened in classes yet.
Well, of course her name wasn't Merlin. "Er, yeah. Anya. I know." The child did know who Merlin was, didn't she? And that it was just an expression...?
Ellie was confused for a moment when Anya asked about chicken. But then she realized that there was a piece of chicken in front of her. And it was quite mutilated from all the stabbing that Ellie had done to it. "Oh. I actually have no idea... I haven't tried it yet." She was mumbling. Food still didn't sound good which was so, totally weird.

".... run like bandits? Or walk out cool?" Was Aspen capable of cool??? "You won't announce that I'm leaving, will you?" Would he??? Aspen SO wasn't sure. Cornelius gave an unintentionally loud laugh as Aspen's only comment for him was that the Ravenclaw table was pretty clean on its floor, something the Gryffindors probably couldn't say for themselves. He hadn't exactly expected that. He quickly quieted himself, not wanting to draw any more attention to themselves in fear that the professors might catch them. He wasn't sure if there were rules against crawling under the tables, but if there wasn't, there probably should've been.
He followed after Aspen as they crawled the length of the table on the floor, which was indeed (and luckily), surprisingly clean. It was only as they reached the end of the table that they seemed to have a problem. Oh yeah. They needed to get out the door... He hadn't thought about that.
As Aspen asked if they should run like bandits, or play it cool, he fell into thought, wondering what would be the best way to just leave as quickly as possible, but not draw too much attention to themselves. Before he could respond, the girl at his side asked if he was going to announce her leaving. Cornelius grinned at the thought. His expression lit up just a foot or so from her own as he scanned her expression, as though seriously considering it, before he let out a soft chuckle and shook his head. "No, I'd rather not look around to find you underneath the Gryffindor table next," he teased lightly. "I hear it's not as clean under there."
Glancing around for a moment, he gathered that the rest of the Great Hall was returning to other conversations, which meant they could probably just make a run for it before anybody fully turned their head. Cornelius turned to look at Aspen, flashing her yet another grin, "Run like bandits," he decided, crawling out from the table a bit more alongside her. In the next moment, his hand had found her own and they were running out of the Great Hall at top speed.

But her own little world often consisted on creatures that looked suspiciously like the cast of My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears combined.
And by the looks of it, Ellie's little world wasn't as happy.
Oh good. Ellie knew her name wasn't Merlin. So... why did she say Merlin then?
Anya would have to asked about that later. "You should try it then." she said eyeing the chicken. "You can't just leave it on your plate like that."
Plus, Anya wanted to know if it was delicious or not.

Plus, Anya wanted to know if it was delicious or not. Well, as long as Ellie wasn't the only one. This girl seemed much more cheerful than Ellie, though. So, she had a feeling that her 'own little world' was much gloomier than Anya's. "Mhm..." Ellie mumbled and rubbed her face in her hands. This probably needed to stop soon.
Ellie eyed the chicken. She couldn't just leave it on her plate? Pout. "I'm, er... Not hungry," Ellie told her. A small lie wouldn't hurt. Plus she was young and gullible.
But just then, Ellie's stomach growled, making it quite clear that Ellie was lying. She tried to cover it up with a cough, but it probably just looked weird. "Digestion... probably." Ellie mumbled some more. EH.

After a tiring game of Capture the Flag, Violet sits down at the Ravenclaw table to snack while waiting for Maxwell. She was actually really excited to meet him at the moment.
