The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.

But it's a rare thing." She remembered Jordan, and how he can do it too. "Yet, there are two of us here." she said, pointing to the boy with purple hair.
Pam looked down and blushed. Quietly, so Damon couldn't hear, she said, "Yea, we're a target, but it's worth it to keep our friends safe. I'd rather put myself in danger, than have them be." She shrugged like it was no big deal. But her hair wouldn't change from grey. Unless you count the blue-ish tint.
Katie loved ravvies, they were so sweet and lovable, she always think that if she was not a snake she would want to be a Ravenclaw, but then remembered her lack of brains. She saw two Ravenclaws talking, they looked as if first years, Katie smiled and went over to them and sat down next to one of them, "Welcome to Ravenclaw girls!" Katie said smiling sweetly, even she was a a snake she wanted those girls to feel very welcome.
Katie looked at the ravvies hoping to see one of her friends and thats when she saw the amazing.....wonderful...."Pam!" Katie said as she hugged her friend, "Lovely to see you again, its been a whole summer" Katie giggled, Pam was awesome.
Max nodded as she listed off topics of conversation. "Those are all good things to ask about, honestly," he shrugged, watching her mannerisms carefully. "Well, I'd be happy to come along. I always like listening to him talk. He's a very insightful man." Max thought of Vindictus as a sort of role model; he was very talented, wise, and he had enough charm to catch the eyes of all the women in the world. Max would be lucky if he even gained one's attention.
His stomach gave a low growl and he tore his gaze away from Ellie to eye the staff table. Tate was there. Hopefully he would get the show on the road. Max wanted food. Before turning back to Ellie, Max looked around the Great Hall at the other house tables - particularly the Hufflepuff one. Treyen seemed to be having a good time. Max wasn't sure if Treyen was naturally a friend to all or if he was talking to younger kids because it was his duty as Head Boy. Either way, Max thought it made him look like some kind of celebrity. And that's when Max decided to bring their relationship up to Ellie for the first time.
"You and Treyen... are you two, err, doing well? Good, strong friendship?" He could have said relationship. He didn't. It was much nicer to think of Ellie and Treyen as being the best of friends. Plus, a relationship was based on friendship anyway. He continued slowly, "It's cool that he's Head Boy. You must be proud." He paused briefly. "Are you both... happy?" That didn't sound as awkward as he felt it did, did it? Max just wanted to know if Ellie was happy. That was an okay question, right?
He thought it was, but the warmth rising in his cheeks tried to convince him otherwise.
Her lip got caught between her teeth as she thought of the questions she had to ask. She should probably...prepare herself. Because she'd hate to look a fool in front of Vindictus. And while she knew what she wanted to ask, she should start thinking of how to ask them. How to word them. Prepare herself. "Thanks." Vindictus was insightful. At least in the areas that interested the redhead. He was one of the few reasons she actually liked being in Ravenclaw.
She didn't hear Max's stomach, but hers was thinking along the same lines. She hadn't even eaten any snacks on the train ride. One of her hands reached for her plate and she started to spin it around, keeping her mind busy.
A smile formed across her face at Treyen's name, her teeth still clinging slightly to her lip. Ellie nodded, blushing. "We're very good..." She thought. Her eyes travelled to the Hufflepuff table and the boy that seemed crowded younger kids.
Head boy? Ellie shrugged, "Maybe... He might be...busier now, though." She'd never paid attention to Head Boy responsibilities, though, but she imagined he had more to do than he did when he was simply Prefect.
"I...I think we are..." She blushed deeper still, "Of course I can't speak for him, but..." But SHE was certainly happy. And excited to actually properly spend time with him. Train rides with other people around were just...different.
Her eyes were on her boyfriend, so she didn't see Max's blush. Though Merlin knows which of them were blushing more at the moment.

Yes, why would Erin say sorry? It seemed like, he didn't noticed that she was staring at him. That should be ask for an apology, right? Since, he didn't saw it, might as well leave it that way. "Yeah," she said in embarrassment and nod instead. After regaining her proper poise, "So, where'd you come from?"
Julien nodded his head. "Correct, I am a fourth year, along with my twin. We both attended a private school in England for a few years. Unfortunately, it bored me to no end and, as a collective whole, we caused too many problems. Jokes and stuff." He grinned and shrugged.
"Are you from around here?" WAIT. What was her name? That would be an excellent start. "My name is Julien, by the way. Julien Vincenzo."

Isabelle loved the thought of being a seventh year and she decided that she would spread the love. This love of hers was going to start at the Ravenclaw table. Walking up to a younger girl she hugged her. Then she left, yeah maybe it was just the coffee.

Taylor felt someone hug her and looked to see who it was. It was a strange older girl and was wearing slytherin's colors....... ok weird?
Melanie wandered back over to where she had been sitting with her friends, hoping the food would've arrived by then. The table was still bare, and so were her friend's seats! I'm gone for five minutes... she thought, unable to stop herself from smiling as she shook her head. She sat back down, waiting for them to return and for the food to show up.
Melanie laughed, unable to contain herself as the boy shook her hand. He was clearly very excited, and it was all Melanie could do to wrap her head around his rapid speech.
"Nice to meet you too, Damon," she chuckled. "I'm in Ravenclaw," she said, casually gesturing to the table behind her. "How about you? What house are you in?" she asked him, wondering if he'd answer her just as excitedly as he had addressed her before.
Joining in a little at the girls laughter, Darwins' came out as a nervous titter laced with happiness. But it was true, he was excited to be here, if a little nervous as well. Right then, he was trying not to think about the next days lessons, and how he might get lost around the Castle and walk into the wrong classroom, or how he might fail miserably in all of his subjects.
No, now he was just going to be happy and excited and enjoy the feast and make new friends.
"Snap!" he grinned happily, looking at the table as Melanie stated her table. "I expected to get sent home. But they put me in Ravenclaw. I'm not sure why, it's supposedly for clever people, and I'm not clever." He looked back at her, and then realised what he'd said might've come out offensively.
"Which isn't to say you're not clever. I mean, you probably are. I'm probably a... a whatchacallit... an anomaly." He covered quickly.

It was lucky that Darwin hadn't seen the girl roll her eyes, because he would've jumped on it as an immediate annoyance. His mum had told him that rolling eyes was rude, and when he'd seen people (usually Emiline) do it, it had seemed very mean.
And he didn't want to get into an argument or something on his first day, so it was good that he'd missed the action. "Thanks," he said, with a bit of surprise; he'd never really considered 'Damon' as a cool name. Sure, it was better than 'Darwin', but then anything was. "I like your name, too." It was nice, different, but in a good way. A better way than 'Darwin'.

"That would be so cool," Darwin said, gaping from Nate to Pam and back again. "Like, I could have blue and red hair. Or like Rainbow colours." YES. Although that would probably have looked so weird, it would still have been fun to try it, to shock his Mum into thinking he'd done it permanently.
And now he could ask Nate things? Glad that someone was offering to help, he started: "Where do we sleep? How long does this feast go on for? Can we go and swim in the lake? If the Sorting Hat thinks it's put us in the wrong house, will it change us? Why's our colour blue and why's our mascot thing an Eagle?"
Darwin paused and took a deep breath. "I have more?" he grinned, almost laughing at himself and how embarrassing his questions were outloud.

The eleven year old finished, glancing towards the other boy that Pam had gestured to with a grin.
He'd never seen people's hair or eyes change colour before, but maybe people just kept it a secret. Maybe the people he saw with pink and blue hair were Metamorphagus, and not dyed like his mum said.
He paused in thought, leaning forward for a drink and completely missing whatever Pam had whispered.

Pam turned back around and nodded. "Just wizards I think. And no I'm not feeling old." She said, trying not to sound offensive. "Worried. I've found out, just this summer, that worried is grey." She shrugged and looked at the boy. "Some muggles just dye their hair. Which, if you ask me, isn't the best way to do it. You could ruin your hair with that stuff!" She took a lock of her hair and started stroking it.
Her lip got caught between her teeth as she thought of the questions she had to ask. She should probably...prepare herself. Because she'd hate to look a fool in front of Vindictus. Nice topic change, Max.
That was cute. Laughing, Ellie turned back to Max, "I'll warn him." Not really. But something about that sentence made her smile fade. She went back to chewing on her lip, full force, studying Max's face. Finally, she leaned in and lowered her voice, "Did I ever tell you...about...about what happened?" Probably not. She hadn't told anyone but...she suddenly felt that Max should know, after what he'd just said.
Her smile returned as the subject changed to Quidditch, though smaller than it was before. "She did," Ellie nodded. "Depends who replaces her." Treyen was an awfully good Seeker. Though, if his captain took his opinion into consideration, he wouldn't play that position. Even though Ellie needed to beat him still.
Yes, needed.

Silvia made her way back to the Ravenclaw table after having stretched her legs a bit, to find that Melanie had returned from talking with another student and there was still no food on the table.
“Hi Melanie. I just got up to walk around a bit,” she said as she took her seat. “I was tired of sitting almost all day since we first got on the train. I hope the food gets here quickly; I’m starting to get hungry for something more substantial than candy. I’m not sure where Alex went, but I think Conrad went back to the Slytherin table.”

"What happened?" Max replied in serious whisper, his eyebrows lowered in concern. He scrutinized every inch of Ellie's face, trying to anticipate what news she might bring. Did Treyen hurt her? Was he rude to her? Did he buy her something red that would clash with her hair? What?
"Good. That's good. But it doesn't matter who replaces her," Max shrugged, instinctively smoothing out his robes. "You can beat anyone. You're a star."

The lip chewing intensified. "I'll," Ellie cast glances at surrounding people, "tell you later." Hint, hint. When there were less people. And she could...cry should that happen, which she really hoped wouldn't, but it happened and... Later was just better.
She shook her head. "I can't. And I'm not" Clearly, or they'd have won the Championship last year, wouldn't they?

Cornelius had almost forgotten what they were talking about when Eino actually responded, explaining that he would be happy to help him whenever he needed it. But once the boy understood what that was in reference to, he flashed him yet another grin, obviously rather appreciative of the offer. He still had a lot of questions, though he luckily now understood what the houses were, thanks to some kind people on the train. If he had walked into the Great Hall still thinking they were small cottages for each student, he would've been very confused and might've never found his seat.
He then listened as Eino explained his own family's traveling history, allowing Cornelius's eyebrows to raise at the information. Finland? Well he was obviously much more of a traveller than himself; Finland sounded very interesting! "Wow," he let out, honestly impressed. He made a mental note to ask Eino more about that later; he'd never been to Finland and was honestly curious. It was then that the student at his side asked if he had been at another school before Hogwarts and Cornelius nodded immediately, still examining the goblet he was holding up in one of his hands.
"I mean, I've been to...three schools before this one?" he explained, furrowing his brows just slightly as he traced back through the years. "Only the last one was actually a school of magic," Cornelius specified with a brief shrug, "It wasn't until I was about twelve that I went there, and it was just this really small school of magic..." he explained, once more gazing up at his new surroundings. "Nothing anywhere near this kind of place."
He grew distracted as Eino spoke with a couple of younger girls, something that got Cornelius to grin again, which was slowly becoming his trademark without him even realizing it. It came naturally to him to smile, he just found amusement in a lot of things. And this was something he definitely found amusement in. "Eino and the ladies..." Cor teased under his breath, obviously joking but unable to resist saying something like that around such a polite character.
The great hall was growing noisier and noisier as more students occupied it. Eino hoped this would be a good sign that the feast would begin soon. He was growing hungry, and he could guess that, by the way Cornelius had been looking at that goblet, he was hungry, too. Or at least thirsty. Maybe it was unique to Hogwarts that the Headmaster revealed the food only after his opening speech, and it was rather rare to have a set of plates, silverware, and goblets without nothing to eat and drink.
He did want to hear more about Cornelius' experience in other magic schools. This was the only one Eino had ever attended so he was curious to know how it compared to the other he had attended. Three schools before Hogwarts was quite a number. Eino only ever attended one school before Hogwarts, but it was a muggle school, and he accidentally revealed magic too often. Eventually, the Finnish Ministry prohibited Eino's parents to allow him within muggle inhabited areas until he was older. "Twelve?" Eino repeated. "Hogwarts welcomes students starting at the age of eleven. Did you have any prior magic experience to that?" Considering Cornelius had come from a small school, Eino hoped he would be able to keep up with the curriculum offered at Hogwarts. If not, there was a rather nice group of students who wouldn't mind helping him, Eino included. Plus, Cornelius was a Ravenclaw. He was, right? If so, he wouldn't have any trouble.
For the brief moment he turned his attention to the girls, he heard Cornelius say something, but he couldn't quite hear what. "Pardon me?" Eino asked with a puzzled look on his face. The noise on the great hall was a good indication that the feast was starting soon, either that someone better start silencing some students. He could imagine Professors Lafay and Schirmer doing that.
Nate laughed a little at Damon's questions. He loved that he was so eager to ask. "We sleep up in the boy's dorm in one of the towers. Ours is exclusively for Ravenclaw boys, and it's accessible through the Claw common room. We'll be going up there after dinner. As for this feast, I have no clue when Headmaster Tate is going to say his speech, but once he does the food will appear. Then we eat until we're on the verge of exploding!" Nate looked up at the charmed ceiling to admire the image of the clear night sky. The stars seemed particularly shiny tonight.
"The grounds are open for us to do pretty much whatever we want, with the obvious restrictions..." Basically, don't hurt or kill anybody and you can get away with your fun. he thought before he continued on. "There's also a swimming pond with a waterfall at it. As for the Sorting Hat, it's never wrong. You were sorted to Ravenclaw, thus you belong in Ravenclaw. So don't worry about having House-denial. It shouldn't happen. Plus, Ravenclaw is obviously the best house! Not only are we blue, which is the best color, but we have an eagle as our mascot. Eagles are cool, and they fly! Can snakes, lions, or badgers fly? Nope!" Nate shook his head, smiling smugly. "One of my favorite perks of being a Ravenclaw is that we Claws are not only the smartest students in school..." Nate puffed out his chest a bit, "...but we're also the resident smart-alecs of Hogwarts! That's my favorite part."
Okay, so maybe his rapid-fire answering to Damon's questions could have been more confusing than enlightening, but the first year was a Ravenclaw, he could follow. After all, Nate firmly believed the motto he lived by: 'I'm making perfect sense, you're just not keeping up.'
Melanie was relieved to have her friend back. She was even more hungry with nothing to distract her from the gnawing feeling in her stomach.
She smiled up at Silvia. "Yea, we have been sitting a long time," she agreed, nodding. "I'm looking forward to dinner too. I haven't eaten anything since that dirt-flavored jelly bean. Kind of put a damper on my appetite," she said, grimacing at the memory.
She scanned the table again, looking for food and/or Alex. "Alex is probably stretching her legs somewhere too," Melanie concluded, before turning to look at the Slytherin table. She thought she spotted the back of Conrad's head conversing with a blonde girl, but brown hair is the most common color and she couldn't be sure it was him.
Turning away from the maybe-Conrad, Melanie looked back at Silvia. "So, what do you think of all this," she asked, gesturing at the Great Hall around her. "Crazy, right? I can't believe that ceiling..." she trailed off breathlessly, gazing up at the glowing stars above.

Lana slowly made her way to her house table and found a spot. She was nervous now. A part of her really did expect to be in the same house as Laura, but here she was now in a different house and she needed to fend for herself until she made some friends of her own.
Looking up and down the table, she kept pretty quiet and just looked around. No one looked mean by any means, but she just didn't know how she was supposed to react to being so new. Everyone around her looked like they knew everyone and she really knew no one at the moment.

Cornelius's stomach gave a loud growl of disapproval at the lack of food on this table. He had gathered that dinner wouldn't be served until the Headmaster made a speech, but he didn't expect the wait to be this long! He was hungry! He'd only had an apple on the train, and he was beginning to regret not buying treats from the trolley. He set down the goblet he had been examining for its interesting engravings, deciding that any further examination would just remind him of his thirst, which was slowly growing as well.
As Eino mentioned that Hogwarts accepted students at the age of eleven and wondered if he had had prior magic experience to age twelve, Cornelius gave a brief nod of understanding. "Well, I knew that I had magic abilities; I started revealing it more and more, way before the age of eleven," he began to explain, "My mum's a witch, and she went to Hogwarts, so she knew immediately that I needed to go. But since we were in another part of the country, my parents didn't want me that far away. So when I turned twelve, I went to a smaller school for magic, and I learned most of what I needed to know." There was a small trace of wonder on Cornelius's expression as he looked around at the number of students at Hogwarts, seeming to even enjoy the noise that Eino was finding pesky. "So then, when my dad got transferred closer for his job, they decided it was better late than never." He flashed him a grin.
Cornelius wasn't being much of a help with the noise problem, having picked up his fork and started tapping it to a beat on his plate when Eino turned to him for a repeat of his last statement. "I said..." he started, raising his voice a bit, "Eino and the ladies!" He let out a laugh and flashed him a grin, "Talkin' up the girls, first day back."
He's acting weird. I don't know why. But I'm sorry. xD

JUST ANYONE, she was going to handle them. Like she handled her boyfriend. Hmph.
Louisa chuckled at the girl's story, "Yeah. I thought it was a joke, too." Until her mom assured her that there was indeed a Wizarding World. "Well, you've got a very understanding and nice father then." Because Louisa's didn't bother showing up, and her stepdad didn't bother understanding what this magic thing was. HMPH. Some things just don't change. Well, he was nice up till the platform. Louisa gave the girl a small smile, "Don't worry about it. He probably was hiding tears. His daughter leaving home for six months? That's a huge step. Especially that you're going to a new world." Louisa even patted the girl's hand. Okay, somebody should take a picture of this because the fifth year was NEVER this nice to younger strangers. Her hormones must've corrupted her. Yep, that was the only explanation.
"Well, mine already knew about magic. My father is a wizard but I don't live with him." I don't even know him, she added in her head. "My mom was terribly sorry that I turned out to be a witch and my stepfather is beyond shocked at the news. He's afraid of me now." Smiling bitterly as she said this. "But I'm doing fine on my own. I have friends who love and support me, a guardian that is a witch." And one I don't like at all, another mental comment, "So, it doesn't matter now."
Hoping to change the subject, Louisa asked, "So do you even know about the subjects you're taking this year? Didn't you read about Hogwarts during the summer?" That was what Louisa did anyway.
SLYTHERIN? Well... okay. "Yes. I don't think it has anything to do with your blood status though." Louisa mused, playing with her clean fork, "My boyfriend's a muggle-born and a Slytherin." And I have no idea where he is at the moment. "I do hope you turn out to like Ravenclaw just as much as you like Slytherin."
And then Louisa asked one more question, "Are you like Lily here," She gestured to the firstie sitting next to her, "a muggleborn who's confused about the school?" Maybe those two should be friends? You needed friends from your own year as well as from upper grades. Louisa encouraged it, hehe.
"What is what?" Dallin frowned a little before he realized that Louisa was talking about his mood. "Ohh..." He got it, now. Shaking his head, he shrugged. "I don't feel much like celebrating." Was that the right word? Eh. Whatever. "My last year and all, you know. I kind of want to go to bed. But I'm hungry." His dilemma in a nutshell. Dallin was kind of making a big deal out of nothing... but oh well.
He glanced down at the table, tuning out a bit until he realized that Louisa had actually been talking to people before he had come over. And the people were little people. Dallin tuned back in, listening to their conversations. And, since the girl had said she wanted to be in Slytherin, Dallin felt like he should speak up and defend his house.
"Ravenclaw's the best," he said, leaning back so that he could look at the girl. "The Slytherin mascot is a snake. Blech." Serpent, snake, what was the difference. Dallin didn't pause to consider that maybe not everybody hated snakes as much as he did. "Ravenclaws are the best," he repeated with a nod. "We're smart, we have an awesome common room, a great Quidditch team, and we're the attractive ones." All facts.
Oh, and they were talking about being muggleborn! He could butt into that too! "I'm a muggleborn," he said casually with another nod. Just in case they wanted to know.
