The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.

Dorms? "Well, you share it with four others. Sometimes more or less. It depends I guess on how many are sorted and how many have graduated the term before. But you don't have to worry about it, if you don't like or get along with your dorm mates, you can always switch." Louisa had no idea if this was legal or not, but again Louisa never cared about rules. Heh. Maybe she wasn't a good influence after all. Oh well, Vashti would be fixing her mess now that she was a Head Girl. Hehe.
"So, you're a muggleborn, huh? How was it like to know you're a witch?" How did her parents take it, too? Louisa was a half-blood that was raised as a muggle-born. She wanted to know what other parents thought of having a magical kid, were all of them so grumpy about it like hers?
Lily was glad to hear that Louisa agreed with the fact of making friends through classes. She was also happy to hear that you shared a dorm with a small, reasonable amount of people, she would see enough people throughout the day and in the common room. "Yeah, I'm the only witch in the famly, or at least to my knowledge. When I found out that I was a witch, I thought that the person telling me was crazy. I never knew that there were so many wizards and witches. I thought that only happened in stories. After a while it felt like this was only a dream and that I would wake up the next day and everything would be normal again." Lily said ans she paused to catch her breath. "My parents were shocked for a while. My mom didn't believe it until we left for Diagon Alley. She was also really busy with my little brother. My dad got this weird look in his eyes when he heard the news, I still don't know what he was thinking. He was the one who helped my get my stuff and he brought me in to the train station and onto the platform, but he left as soon as we got onto the platform..." Lily stopped at this point partially because she was questioning what was up with her father and because there wasn't much else to tell about how she took being a witch. "What about you?" she asked politely.
Okay? Louisa arched an eyebrow, "It's more than just okay. Well, I think it is." With a sigh, the fifteen years old shrugged one shoulder, acting nonchalant and all. "The sorting hat makes no mistakes, you know." So Autumn was supposed to be in Ravenclaw. With the eagles. "What house were you most eager to land in?" That sounded like an airplane but.. the girl should get the meaning.
Autumn, she obviosly didnt approve of that " well I wish i could be in slytherin but because im muggle born, that couldnt happen, even the hat said slytherin suits me so well. but ravenclaw suits me good aswell.
Jordan almost choked on his pumpkin juice, "You fainted?" he asked Nate incredulously, why had he not heard of this sooner? "When? Why? Who? Team Wolf?" he whispered, "They wouldn't target you would they?" his voice low enough for only Nate to hear.
Nate froze and looked at Jordan with a look that said Are you kidding me right now?. "Why wouldn't they target me? The Blacks are staying at Pam's house, under heavy fortifications, which makes Pam a target. And Team Wolf, considering that they managed to get pictures of Jez from when she was in hiding, must know about my relationship with her, which makes me a target too. Not to mention my parents are muggles..." he answered in a rushed whisper. Nobody else needed to hear of Team Wolf. The less people who knew about it, the more lives he could potentially save.
Nate blushed a little, embarrassed, when she brought up the whole fainting student thing. "Oh, yeah, him? That was me," he admitted, "I fainted. It was probably train sickness or something like that." I'm still not sure... he added to himself. "I'm fine now, though. The new nurse has some pretty potent stuff in that vial," Nate said, a smile returning to his face. Be positive about a potential poisoning, right? Right.
The young professor smiled at the young man again...a little startled that she had run into the boy right away...that was good luck...right?
She looked at the young man and slightly tilted her head as she checked his color. "Well, that's good to hear...." she turned back towards the staff table, "But, if you start feeling ill or need anything please don't hesitate to stop by my office or to visit the healer..." she said with a little nod. as she waled back towards the table, she said over her shoulder, "I look forward to seeing you in class..."

"You too, Professor!" Nate called to Gemma's retreating back. Muggle studies was going to be fun. It always was. Nate still didn't know how he could've fainted, but he was sure it wasn't just train sickness. Keeping in mind that he could go see the Healer, or Professor Cerulean, if he were to get sick again, Nate allowed himself to slip back into his other conversations.
Logan laughed. "Uh oh!" he said. "We'll juts have to see..." he said.
"Hmmmmm.... That we will, Mr. Floyd." She smiled, "I do have two questions though." She laughed, "Are you planning on climbing any trees here and how adventorus will this year be?" A smile crept onto her face with a slight hint of teasing and mischief.

Jordan considered this for a moment, "oh yeah, it makes sense when you look at the facts like that..." he thought for a moment. He opened his mouth to speak, but then thought not too, nobody needed to hear about all this now. "Okay, I won't bring it up again now, you don't need anymore people knowing do you?"

"We can talk about it," Nate whispered, "But we have to be careful. I don't want people asking questions." He looked around himself and Jordan, investigating the seats. Most of them were uncaring older students, mopey seventh years, or already-distracted firsties. They were in the clear. "We're fine, let's just keep our voices down."

Everything was so strange. The letter had come in the post. But I overheard others talking about owls. What is that all about? Before my dad died I sometimes heard my mom and dad talking in lowered voices about Uncle Ronzil and as soon as they knew I was interested they stopped and always when I asked "Who is Uncle Ronzil?" they would never say. But when the letter came mother said that it was time that I learned something about the topic and handed me a book and told me to read it. But the book had been written fifty years ago and what were trains and steam engines and platforms where you were allowed with unchecked baggage? Everything is so strange. Then I was told to sit on a stool and a middle aged lady was just about to put a raggedy old party hat on my head as I thought "I will just need to keep my eyes open and live by my wits until this straightens out" and the hat shouted, Ravenclaw
And as the hat was taken away, an almost full table of older students all stood up clapping and beckoning to me so it did not take a wizard to know where I should go. Several students only a little older than me scrunched up together to make room for me and welcomed me as I took my place beside them. I learned that this process was to be repeated dozens of times so it did not take a wizard to catch on to what was happening. After what was named the "sorting " was finished there was to be a feast but all I could see were empty plates.
The headmistress introduced her staff and suddenly at her word the tables were crammed with dishes that I only knew about from long ago Christmas dinners. I can do this I said, I can eat. and so I did.
Perhaps, I thought, the ancient book was partly correct, many things seem strange and change, but to share good food with like minded who may become friends is a good thing. And I started to relax and take in more of my surroundings.

Logan laughed. "Yes, if there are trees to climb here." he said laughing. "And I'll be REALLY adventerous!" he said puffing out his chest and grinning.
Taylor smiled and laughed, "I think there are since there is a forest." She giggled, "Hmmmm you are a brave little monkey." She found it so cute when he puffed out his chest because it was so funny.

Time to step up. Maybe then I could be prefect eventually. he thought, approaching the new sortee. "Hi, welcome to Ravenclaw," he said with a smile, "I'm Nathaniel Stone. You can call me Nate. She laughed and smiled, "Sorry." Taylor blushed slightly Why am i acting like a fool? What's wrong with me? Why can't i be normal? She sighed without realizing it and continued to think.

"Hi, uh, I'm Darw- I mean, uh, Damon," he managed, blushing as his name slipped out. "Can I sit here, only I don't really know anyone and... yeah."
Turning a little at the sound of his name, Darwin grinned at the girl who'd called it. Finally, someone he knew, and she was sat near to the other girl, so he would have to feel rude and leave her to go sit with other people. No, being rude wasn't nice, and Darwin wasn't rude.
"I'm amazing, thanks," he said excitedly, bouncing on the balls of his feet. "I know you did, I should have listened, I'm so glad, and I know someone, too: you!" He flushed with his energy and excitement, as he spotted the blue on her tie and robes, and remembered their conversation in Diagon Alley. "They are? Good, because I don't know anyone and everyone seems to know people and ... well, I don't."
He gasped a moment later, though. "Woah, how'd that, why'd that, I mean... your hair!" If he wasn't seeing things, then that had just changed colour. He rubbed his eyes furiously, looking away and looking back, not even trying to conceal his shock. "Can I do that!?"
Darwin started a little, as a boy who looked about Pams age spoke to him, too. "Hi, uh yeah, I met her in Diagon Alley," he began excitedly, his smile not faltering. "How does she do it?" he added, about the hair colour, indicating it with his head. "I'm Damon."
Yeah, he answered the boy, right? And no 'Darwin' slip ups, either. YEY.
MORE PEOPLE TALKING TO HIM.
Darwin like this, this big, amazingly cool hall and everyone running around, and as long as none of the big people trod on him then he knew he'd love it. And everyone seemed really friendly and no one had tried to curse him or kill him yet. He grinned a Melanie, and then took her hand, and shook it.
"I'm Damon, nice t'meet you! Yeah, I am, I've just been sorted." His grin didn't vanish as he said it, hyper as usual. "What house are you in?" And she was his age, like Laura and Brooke. YEY NEW FRIENDS.
Vlimia saw a boy come and sit near them. She rolled her eyes a little, thinking about how her new friend Autumn seemed to attract people to come and talk. Oh well, she had better be polite. "Hello Damon. Damon... that's a really cool name. I'm Vlimia, by the way." Vlim introduced herself, thinking suspiciously that the boy had been called something different at sorting. Dalvin or something. Maybe she had just been so nervous, it had sounded like Doorwin or whatever.

Ellie shrugged. "Mostly about...scouts and...teams and...stuff." She looked away. She was embarrassed by that. She thought it made her seem full of herself or something but....they were only questions, right? And a lot of former students that she knew of were scouted. And Carter had mentioned them possibly looking at her last year. She was just curious.
"Definitely," Eyes back on Max, "I was going to ask you to come anyway." She didn't really want to go to Vindictus alone. He still had that intimidating thing about him.
Max nodded as she listed off topics of conversation. "Those are all good things to ask about, honestly," he shrugged, watching her mannerisms carefully. "Well, I'd be happy to come along. I always like listening to him talk. He's a very insightful man." Max thought of Vindictus as a sort of role model; he was very talented, wise, and he had enough charm to catch the eyes of all the women in the world. Max would be lucky if he even gained one's attention.
His stomach gave a low growl and he tore his gaze away from Ellie to eye the staff table. Tate was there. Hopefully he would get the show on the road. Max wanted food. Before turning back to Ellie, Max looked around the Great Hall at the other house tables - particularly the Hufflepuff one. Treyen seemed to be having a good time. Max wasn't sure if Treyen was naturally a friend to all or if he was talking to younger kids because it was his duty as Head Boy. Either way, Max thought it made him look like some kind of celebrity. And that's when Max decided to bring their relationship up to Ellie for the first time.
"You and Treyen... are you two, err, doing well? Good, strong friendship?" He could have said relationship. He didn't. It was much nicer to think of Ellie and Treyen as being the best of friends. Plus, a relationship was based on friendship anyway. He continued slowly, "It's cool that he's Head Boy. You must be proud." He paused briefly. "Are you both... happy?" That didn't sound as awkward as he felt it did, did it? Max just wanted to know if Ellie was happy. That was an okay question, right?
He thought it was, but the warmth rising in his cheeks tried to convince him otherwise.
Dallin didn't exactly want to be here. He didn't feel nice and chatty, and like he wanted to be around a whole bunch of people just to eat food. He wanted to go to his dorm and sleep, mostly. But this was his very last start of term feast ever and he kind of felt like he had an obligation to go just because. He didn't want to, though.
It was all very confusing with his thoughts right now.
Suffice it to say, he was not smiling as he entered the Hall and went straight to the Ravenclaw table. He would eat some food and get outta here. He just needed to be able to say that he did indeed go to the feast. And maybe he could - oh, look! There was Louisa. He needed to talk to her, anyway. She didn't get around to telling him why her summer had been intense.
"Hey," he greeted not-very-cheerfully as he sat down next to the fifth year, hardly noticing all the smaller kids that were around her.
Before the little kid could reply. Louisa caught her best friend making his way toward her, the girl's face brightened immediately and naturally as he flopped himself near her. He wasn't smiling or smirking as usual and that made her face fall serious. "Hey." She took a closer look at him before speaking, "What is it? Are you all right?" If somebody had upset him! JUST ANYONE, she was going to handle them. Like she handled her boyfriend. Hmph.

"My mom was terribly sorry that I turned out to be a witch and my stepfather is beyond shocked at the news. He's afraid of me now." Smiling bitterly as she said this. "But I'm doing fine on my own. Hoping to change the subject, Louisa asked, "So do you even know about the subjects you're taking this year? Didn't you read about Hogwarts during the summer?" That was what Louisa did anyway.

SLYTHERIN? Well... okay. "Yes. I don't think it has anything to do with your blood status though." Louisa mused, playing with her clean fork, "My boyfriend's a muggle-born and a Slytherin." And I have no idea where he is at the moment. "I do hope you turn out to like Ravenclaw just as much as you like Slytherin."
And then Louisa asked one more question, "Are you like Lily here," She gestured to the firstie sitting next to her, "a muggleborn who's confused about the school?" Maybe those two should be friends? You needed friends from your own year as well as from upper grades. Louisa encouraged it, hehe.
Taylor was so deep in thinking at that second when Logan asked a question.... she couldn't remember what question though. She looked up, "Pardon?" She blushed in embarassment. Taylor didn't realized how she went off thinking until now.

He was acting like me being a witch had triggered something in his mind. He was also probably trying to get back to my mom and brother who were waiting at the entrance to the station." she said.
"I did flip through some of my books, along with reading Hogwarts, A History cover to cover." She said holding up the book. "I don't really understand some of it though, simply because I have never heard of it. I mean I kinda understand potions, history of magic, and herbology, and maybe flying. but things like transfiguration and charms and other things like that are pretty foreign to me. and I've only had a few days to read about these because I thought it was all a dream. Do you have a favorite class?" Lily explained.
Pam smiled at Damon. "Being a Meta isn't all it's perked up to be. Everyone can tell what I'm feeling, and when. And no, you can't do it. Although, I don't think you can. You might. But it's a rare thing." She remembered Jordan, and how he can do it too. "Yet, there are two of us here." she said, pointing to the boy with purple hair.
Pam looked down and blushed. Quietly, so Damon couldn't hear, she said, "Yea, we're a target, but it's worth it to keep our friends safe. I'd rather put myself in danger, than have them be." She shrugged like it was no big deal. But her hair wouldn't change from grey. Unless you count the blue-ish tint.
