Where
The Practice Pitch

Who Can Attend
All students are welcome to attend

What to Bring
Nerves of Steel.
School brooms and protective equipment will be provided.

Professor Vindictus was the first to arrive (as usual) and he already had the equipment needed for the lesson assembled: school brooms were on the broom rack and a box of goggles was on the grass next to it. There two other crates sitting next to the rack but these were closed so that no student could guess what they were going to play.

The flying professor leaned against the broom rack as he waited for students to arrive for the lesson.

FireboltAvis88 03-09-2012 01:12 AM

Alyssa quickly walked onto the practise pitch and was glad that she wasn't late for class. She walked up to the Professor and greeted him. "Uh hello Professor. It's good to be back for another flying lesson." She then walked away and stood to one side

Somnium 03-09-2012 01:13 AM

Taylor smiled and came to where they were suppose to met for the games. "Hey Professor." She said cheerfully.

sweetpinkpixie 03-09-2012 01:14 AM

and...this may be my only post today due to my timezone XD

WHY was she here? Well, Kurumi knew why. If she avoided brooms for too long Selina was going to take a Beater's bat to her head and Kurumi really could not deal with having a concussion on top of with everything else.

As she nervously made her way to the pitch, Kurumi reached into her pockets for the usual broom cookies that she felt were always expected of her come Flying lessons. "Good day, Professor Vindictus," she said as she handed the small box containing them to the man before glancing around at what sort of equipment was available. Who was she joking, even if she saw what was there she would still have no clue what they were doing. Flying was the Gryffindor's worst subject.

Deezerz 03-09-2012 01:18 AM

Glad to be out in the fresh air, Kennedy made his way down to the pitch. He actually wanted a repeat of the polishing lesson. It had relaxed him, but he doubted there would ever be repeated lessons in Professor Vindictus' classes.

He tugged his bag over his should and grinned at the professor. "Good day, Professor Vindictus," he greeted.

He glanced around and his green eyes momentarily paused at the crates. What was in there?

Nothing dangerous, RIGHT?!

Holmesian Feline 03-09-2012 01:20 AM

Gideon made his way down to the quidditch pitch ready for the latest flying lesson in time for the posted start. Nerves of steel...that had been listed as a requirement for the class and that made things all rather curious. Of course, being a Gryffindor it wasn't a problem since nerves and courage went hand in hand, he just needed to show up and do his best in whatever they were to be doing that required the nerves.

"Good day Professor Vindictus," he greeted with a polite nod as he made his way to the part of the pitch where the man was gathered with the brooms and other supplies they would no doubt be using for the lesson. So far no real clue was given as to what the activity was so the 5th year simply stood to one side of Kurumi and waited for more students to arrive and them to begin. "Hey," he said offering a soft smile to his friend knowing she had been avoiding brooms for a bit after last term.

HaRoHeGiNeLu 03-09-2012 01:21 AM

YES.

Flying.

Ellie should learn to drag Arya to these lessons. Though, she felt it just wouldn't be as satisfying as it was to the Prefect for dragging her to DADA.

Whatever.

The Ravenclaw arrived....rather early, but it was okay. She was excited. Broom games were just...full of WIN, you know? LIKE QUIDDITCH!!!

She was very nearly over her last match.

Ellie took a seat on the grass right up near Vindictus, and relaxed back onto her elbows.

Ready.

TakemetotheBurrow 03-09-2012 01:24 AM

Another flying lesson! This was great. Ella loved flying and could not wait to get her hands on a broom. She bounced down to the practice pitch excitedly, spotting the Professor and some classmates already there. "Hi Professor." She said cheerfully, smiling at the man.

AlwaysSnapesGirl 03-09-2012 01:26 AM

Though she'd been trying to ignore it, how far they were into the term wasn't lost on Vashti, and so of course she made her way down to where the flying lesson was going to take place. This might be one of her last flying lessons here at Hogwarts, and she wasn't going to miss it for anything.

"Hello, Professor Vindictus," she said, greeting her Head of House with a smile before taking a seat by Ellie, giving her a smile too. "Hey, Ellie."

demented_death_eater 03-09-2012 01:38 AM

Starting . . . so DON'T say that you just arrived/arrived late!

Vindictus nodded at each student who greeted him. "Welcome, welcome!" he exclaimed and motioned to the grass. "Please have a seat on the grass so we can start discussing broom games."

"Can anyone name four ancient broom games that aren't played any more, except in classes such as this?" he asked the students.

FireboltAvis88 03-09-2012 01:41 AM

Yeah I know blew it with the not played anymore part. xD

Alyssa quickly raised her hand and answered."Professor they are Shuntbumps, Stichstock, Swinvenhodge and Creaothceann".

TakemetotheBurrow 03-09-2012 01:42 AM

Ella sat on the grass quietly and waited for some of her classmates to offer up games that had been played in the past. She had little to offer the conversation since she had known nothing about flying up until the summer before Hogwarts.

Sierra gave Vindictus a little waving motion as she took a seat on the grass. The grass. Why did he always have them sit on the grass like they were some animal? She only briefly wondered about this before turning all her attention to the question he'd asked. Oh, good. An easy one. Her hand shot into the air. "Stichstock, Aingingein, Creaothceann, and Shuntbumps," she said. There was a fifth one, but seeing as he'd said to name four, she left out the last one.

sweetpinkpixie 03-09-2012 01:45 AM

woot! one more in before 3 hours of speech grading

Kurumi sort of just stared at Professor Vindictus. Wasn't there a reason...like a GOOD reason why the games were not played any more? Yet, here they were in a LESSON and looking as though they were about to play one...if not all of them. Maybe Kurumi would fake being sick and hurry to the hospital wing?

Wait...bad idea. The Healer didn't really like Kurumi either.

Kurumi sort of remembered the names, seeing as they had discussed them previously in other lessons, but she was hesitant to raise her hand and answer...but she did after a few moments. "O-One is Creaothceann...and then there is also Stichstock...and...Shuntbumps...and Aingingein..."

There was one more, another S one, but Kurumi thought she had read that it was still played in England. Then again, Kurumi and her broom games knowledge was very VERY limited.

HaRoHeGiNeLu 03-09-2012 01:47 AM

VASHTI!

She got a smile. Was Miss Head Girl as excited as Ellie was?

WAS SHE?!!

Ancient broom games....Not that that gave anything about the lesson away, exactly. Because they all already knew it was about games. And Vindictus could just be starting off with Ancient and working his way to present day.... "Stichstock, Aingingein, Creaothceann, and...Shuntbumps?" Perhaps, yes, no?

Though ancient, they were incredibly inferior in Ellie's mind. Except, perhaps, Aingingein. That was pretty awesome.

Tay sat down in the grass. She raised her hand, "Professor would one of them be Stichstock?" She wasnt too sure and she couldnt think of others.

Holmesian Feline 03-09-2012 01:53 AM

Gideon's attention turned back to Vinidictus as the Quidditch official began the lesson. Broom games...so that was the subject of the class which if he remembered from an earlier lesson a few terms back was something to be slightly worried about. There were certainly some dangerous ideas of games from long ago. Then they were asked for a few names and the Gryffindor did his best to try and remember them. "I think they would be Stichstock, Creaothceann, Shuntbumps and Swivenhodge," he answered after raising his hand.

Deezerz 03-09-2012 01:55 AM

Kennedy sat down as instructed and rolled up his long uniform sleeves up to his elbows. Now, he was completely ready. Broom games...he couldn't wait!

He raised his hand and said, "Stichstock, Aingingein, Creaothceann, and Shuntbumps." He didn't fancy Aingingein so much though. Hopefully they weren't playing that...or any of them for that matter.

natethegreat 03-09-2012 02:06 AM

Nate sat down in the grass. He then was listening to all of the responses that evryone else was giving. Nate then raise his hand and said "Professor they are stitchstock, aingingein, creathceann, and shuntbumps." Nate knew them, but he was glad he didn't go first. So then he made sure that those were the correct answers.

Hey Ju 03-09-2012 02:35 AM

Sophie didn't know any... old games, so she just sat quietly and listened to her classmates. She had really liked the flying lessons when they got to fly around, but she didn't enjoy the lessons where they would just sit down and... clean brooms. She didn't know what to expect from today's class.

demented_death_eater 03-09-2012 02:48 AM

Vindictus nodded in acknowledgement towards those who provided the name of only one or two games - he asked for four.

"Swivenhodge is still played today," replied Vindictus. "One point to each of you for your efforts."

"Correct! Two points to each of you for your answers," he replied. "But I really don't want to focus on ancient broom games. I want to focus on Quidditch."

He knew that several of the die-hard Quidditch athletes were in attendance and that they'd be rather pleased.

"Does anyone know where the name 'Quidditch' came from and who kept a diary about it?"

HaRoHeGiNeLu 03-09-2012 02:50 AM

GRIN.

That was more like it, Vindictus.

SEE, EVERYONE? This man was GOOD PEOPLE. Okay? Epic people. Person, rather. For there was no one else quite like Vindictus.

"From where it originated. Queerditch Marsh." For all those who DON'T have Quidditch Through the Ages memorized. "Gertie Keddle wrote about it."

So like...were they PLAYING? Because she was CRAVING a match. A friendly match, that is, where the Championship wasn't at stake.

Taylor raised her hand, "The name came from Queerditch Marsherwhich was the first recorded location. Gertie Keddle kept the diary." Tay was getting excited now. She loved Quidditich.

FireboltAvis88 03-09-2012 03:01 AM

Alyssa thought for awhile. She remembered reading all this from the textbook Quidditch Through the Ages. She raised her hand to answer. "Professor the game was first reported being seen played in Queerditch Marsh. I guess that's where the name came from. I believe a lady by the name of Gertie Keddle wrote all about what she saw in her diary."

Deezerz 03-09-2012 03:09 AM

Points, points! He liked those, m'hm.

Even though he liked points, he LOVED Quidditch. Kennedy raised his hand for the second question. "The name Quidditch came from Queerditch Marsh, where the first ever Quidditch game was recorded," he said. "Gertie Keddle was the witch that kept a diary about it," he explained.

Were they going to play Quidditch now?
