Emrys hovered outside Vindictus' office. Why hadn't he thought to ask Kurumi what time they would talk to him about the weird orb. He scuffed his shoes against the ground, digging up some dirt with his toe and kicking it around. Rather than try to find her in the castle, he had opted to just head to the grounds and hope he spotted her that way.

If she didn't show up soon, he was going to go to Vindictus on his own, though he didn't relish that thought at all.

Emrys paced, nervously taking his glasses off his face and wiping the lenses compulsively every time he competed a 'lap' of his short path.

Bag over her shoulder, Kurumi made her way towards Professor Vindictus' office having remembered that orb she carried in her bag could possibly be the one that she had seen the Flying professor looking for when she had been dropping off flower arrangements all around the castle for Transfiguration homework. She had kept it in her trunk wrapped up in her Gryffindor scarf to protect it from Walnut mostly.

When she finally arrive, she cocked her head to the side when she saw...Emrys was it? That named seemed familiar at least. "Hello," she said with a smile. "Are you here to see Professor Vindictus as well?"

Emrys looked up, relieved to see Kurumi headed his way. He approached her slowly, but stopped short when she questioned him. He blinked at her stupidly for a moment, suddenly feeling very self-conscious.

Had they not set a time because she hadn't really wanted him to come along? She almost seemed to not recognize him.. at least not in a friendly way. His heart sank. He'd thought he'd made a friend and, at least right now, it seemed as if she had only been being polite. He didn't actually register as someone worth remembering.

Softly, looking away, he explained. "We.. we said we'd c-come to-to-together," he stuttered, any confidence built up from their previous conversation completely gone. "A-a-about th-th-th-th orb."

Kurumi furrowed her brow. She had said that? When? She remembered meeting him inside the castle, and sitting down...and talking about something to do with linguistics...but other than that there were only patches. Clearly she was studying too hard for her OWLs or something.

One thing she did notice though, Emrys looked really upset at her question, which meant that he was speaking the truth and she was the one that was...in the wrong. Still, she was pretty sure that she would have remembered a promise. Promises were really important to Kurumi. "I...I don't remember..." she said as she lifted her hand and pressed it against her forehead. And then he mentioned the orb and she slowly opened her bag to reveal its contents, the orb still wrapped up in her Gryffindor scarf, but it slowly slipping off.

She looked confused and Emrys didn't know what to think. He stepped closer to her, still trying to decide if he just didn't register as someone worth remember or if something was wrong.

"Y-you tripped over me near the tapestry with the trolls," he explained. "And we talked about that and and s'mores and the House Elves and we said we'd find the Room of Requirement because I haven't been able to and you'd never had a banana boat and then and then and then," Emrys took a deep breath as he realized he'd been rambling.

He was close enough to look down into her bag. "And then the orb just rolled down the hall and into your leg."

Looking back up at her and then back at Vindictus' office, he grabbed the strap of her bag as if to take it from her. "M-maybe you should see the Healer after we talk to Professor Vindictus?"

Kurumi nodded her head as Emrys' spoke. She remembered all that. She even had a memory of them laughing over theorizing why anyone in their right mind would want to teach trolls how to dance the ballet and wondering what other sorts of tapestries may be in the castle. "Banana boats," she nodded with a more obvious smile on her face. "I am still expecting you to teach me how to make those."

Okay, so she remembered more than she thought. That was good. Yet...why couldn't she remember promising to meet him here? Everything up to the orb rolling over her foot was now crystal clear. It was...after that was fuzzy.

But then he mentioned the Healer. "Yeah...maybe," she said with an unconvincing nod. She did NOT want to go see that woman again. Nope.

"We...should probably knock," she said, nodding her head towards the door as she closed the lid on her bag to latched it shut and allowed him to take it from her.

Emrys returned her smile, relieved that she remembered, though a bit distraught at what seemed to be a gap in her memory. Taking the bag from her, he slipped it over his head, letting the strap cross his chest. As it bumped against his hip, he nodded at her.

"Or just somewhere you can rest," he added, sensing some resistance to the Healer. Or maybe Vindictus would have an idea.

"Come on, then," he said, turning toward the door and gesturing for her to come with him. He made his way slowly, in case a blurry memory wasn't the only thing wrong. Stepping up to the door, he raised a fist and with a look back at Kurumi, rapped on the door.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

He hoped the Professor was in.

Vindictus thought he looked pretty cool walking around with his oak walking stick topped with a silver eagle handle. He had been told to stay off his feet and allow his injured knee to heal, but he never really listened to the advice of healers no matter how pretty they were. Walking with a limp, he approached his office and saw Emrys and Kurumi waiting outside.

"Are the two of you looking for me?" he asked with a boyish grin.

Kurumi was a bit surprised when the voice of Professor Vindictus came from behind them instead of from within his office and spun around on the spot. Wait...was that...a cane? Sure it was sort of decorated to no just look like a cane, but that was what it was, right? Not only that but he was limping. When had that happened? Kurumi blinked a few times and then glanced to her right where Emrys stood with her bag and its...contents.

"Yes, professor," she said with a small bow. Merlin, did she remember to pack cookies as well? She couldn't remember. Another dark patch in her memory as it were. "Um...that thing, you were looking for in the Great Hall...we found it or, um, it found me." Because it certainly had seemed like the orb had some sort of agenda with her.

Vindictus gave Kurumi a puzzled look. "I don't know what you're talking about," he replied and chuckled. "Unless you found the house elves secret recipe for their sinfully delicious chocolate cake."

He looked at her and Emrys. That's when it dawned on him that they were serious about something. "So you found something. Maybe if I see it, I might know what it is. Care to show it to me?"

Kurumi couldn't help but giggle. "Actually, professor, I think if I asked them they would teach me the recipe." Her and the house elves were close like that. Almost like family really.

But, she hadn't come here to discuss cake. Or cookies, in case Professor Vindictus asked about those.

Nodding her head, Kurumi reached for her bag over Emrys' shoulder and undid the latch to open it up where she then removed the Gryffindor wrapped scarf from the bag and pulled the scarf off just enough so that its slightly glowing surface was revealed.

Emrys nodded as Kurumi spoke, having remained silent for most of the exchange. He found his Head of House.. intimidating and so far, Kurumi seemed to be handling it.

He tensed in surprise as she reached into the bag, allowing her to extract the orb. "We were sitting in the c-corridor," he added, eyes fixed to the glow. "And it just rolled down the hall and bumped into her."

Emrys paused, looking back to the professor, wondering if the explanation sounded as weird as the actual occurrence had been. Rubbing the back of his neck, he cocked his head to the side. "Kurumi wondered if it was one that you'd said had gone missing." And then forgot that she'd invited him to come along to return it.

There was that, too.

Vindictus's eyes were immediately drawn to the glowing orb."It just 'rolled into her'. Is that so, Emrys? Fascinating! You should take the scarf off the orb, Kurumi," he said and rubbed his palms together. "And hand it over to me. I know exactly what to do with it."

Nodding, Kurumi began to unravel the scarf around the orb as had been instructed. Professor Vindictus seemed...rather eager to hold the orb, which had her a little confused since he seemed to not recognize it at all. He had been asking for it a little while ago...how could he have forgotten? Distracted from these thoughts, Kurumi didn't notice that the orb was rolling away from her and threatened to fall out of her hands and towards Emrys...

Emrys blinked a bit in confusion at Vindictus' sudden eagerness, but he dismissed it. It must be the man's missing orb after all...

But it wouldn't be anyone's orb if it fell and smashed! Emrys reached out instinctively and cradled the rolling orb in his palm, the glow of the orb reflecting in his glasses.

"Careful," he said, pushing it back into her hands.

The orb, which had been slowly fading to a dull, dark grey colour the longer it remained under wraps, seemingly came back to life once it was in the Ravenclaw's hands. Even though the boy had only touched it briefly, the orb took to him like a duck to water.

It seemed to be beaming as it was transferred to the Gryffindor, shining brighter than ever.

Vindictus watched as the orb was briefly passed between Kurumi and Emrys. "I'll take care of it," he said as he reached for the orb. "My trophy case has a secure lock and it will be safe in there."

"Kyaa!" the Gryffindor squeaked as she realized the orb was about to be dropped, but at least Emrys had been there to catch it. Thank Merlin. "Um, thank you, Emrys," she blushed, wrapping the scarf around her neck and accepting the orb back.

When Professor Vindictus reached for it, she hesitated for just a moment as she found herself slightly memorized by the orbs sudden glow, pulling back slightly before thinking the better of it and stretching her arms out for him to take it. It would be safer in his trophy case than in her dorm room for sure. She had caught Walnut playing with it the other day, bad kitty that he was.

Emrys nodded in response to Kurumi's thanks, still thinking about how the orb's glow had grown brighter after he caught it.

He waited for Vindictus to take the orb, shuffling his feet a bit. At least in the professor's trophy case, the orb wouldn't go rolling about the castle corridor's again.

Vindictus was quick and he plucked the orb from Kurumi's hands. "Isn't it exquisite?" he asked as he stared at it.

Kurumi glanced at Emrys before looking back towards the Flying professor. Exquisite? She...supposed that it was, but it was sort weird how it was glowing right now when it hadn't been moments earlier. "I....suppose so, professor," she nodded, unable to take her eyes off it. She was going to ask Professor Vindictus something but it seemed to have slipped her mind. Probably not important then.

Vindictus suddenly had a glazed expression. "Did you hear it? The orb wants to go outside and soak up some of the sun's rays!" He shifted the orb to his left hand and made sure his right was securely on his cane.

"Let's go see what it'll do outside. Maybe it will turn different colors! Come on!" He limped slowly out the door and his boots crunched on the gravel outside.

Kurumi cocked her head to the side again as Professor Vindictus' demeanor changed, but went unnoticed by the Gryffindor. The orb, was speaking to him? How? Did orbs usually do that? Had it spoken to her? She couldn't remember it doing that at least, but the whole concept was sort of frightening.

Kurumi followed the limping man with his cane with her eyes and then looked at Emrys with an expression that could only be described as confused. "I guess...we should follow," she murmured, taking a nervous step forward to follow the Flying professor away from his office and towards...wherever it was he was taking them.

Emrys stared blankly at the professor trying to figure out what exactly was happening.

He blinked when Kurumi spoke, returning her confused expression. "I suppose... we should?"

With Kurumi's bag still slung of his shoulder, Emrys hurried after.
