Mystery Telescope Challenge Post 1. + *eyes Kurumi and August* Bye you guys! <3 Waddle. Waddle. Waddle. Beatrice waddled all the way from the Ravenclaw Common Room into the Observatory. She didn't want to stare at the stars just yet, it would just ignite dead flames of memories inside her and she did not want that. However, when it's your first week back to the castle, you'll be tempted to gaze at the marvelous skies that the telescopic views from the Observatory at the Astronomy Tower has to offer. And that was the reason she was here, she was tempted to the point that she's even waddling as she went. Ignoring all other people inside the circular room, Beezus paced quickly into the nearest small telescope that she could see and immediately adjusted its lenses and objectives so she could already catch sight of the stars. "A bit to the left..and a bit more.." She muttered as she was turning the objectives of the telescope so she could take a better look. She already found some set of stars that seemed to be forming a constellation yet it was still a bit blurred to she continued on adjusting it. After what seemed like half an hour, Beatrice managed to see what she wanted to catch a glimpse of, a constellation. It was just a very simple constellation that shaped a very simple polygon, not to mention that it was mainly made up of faint stars. She didn't know what it was called so she leaned away from the telescope and went over to look at the Constellation Chart.. After surveying it, she found out that the constellation was named Lupus. "Lupus.." She made sure she would remember it, since it was the first constellation she saw when she got back. After eyeing the chart one more time, Beatrice returned to where the telescope she's using was and looked into it one last time. Lupus, help me this term, she said in her mind. After returning the telescope to its rightful place, she eyed the other students around. Almost all of them are busy looking at their telescopes and surely, they were all having fun. Just as she was about to go, her eyes caught a certain pair of Gryffindor students. She didn't know who the boy was but she certainly knew the female. Slowly, she strode over to where they were holding their stargazing. "Prefect Hollingberry. Good evening." She greeted the Prefect when she got near. "And good evening to you too." Beatrice also greeted and nodded at the other lion. But once she looked at the sky, she figured that it was a bit late and she was also feeling a bit sleepy now, so.. "I really would love to hang around guys, but I'm kinda tired so see you around tomorrow!" She said in a rather fast manner. Hey, she was really sleepy now. With a yawn, she went out of the Observatory. |
Text Cut: Minnie Harvey was shocked as she pulled her hand away and he listened to her "Yes I am sure.. Mins.. I liked you from the moment we met on that train... so I am very much sure I want to be with you.. not some snake who sees me as her younger brother.. and I see her as my older sister.. one who can guide me through school.. but there was and is only one beautiful girl for me.. .. and that is you! No-one else.. never h they are not prettier than you" he said to her.. "I want to be with only you.. no-one else.. and stop calling yourself damaged! you are not a piece of property that can get damaged.. you are the girl I love.. and nothing will change that. So stop calling yourself damaged.. please!" he said as he turned and looked at the stars.. he just needed to calm down he then turned to Minnie and smiled he couldnt stay angry and upset with her.. he loved her too much to stay that way.. |

Or that there was no such thing as a shooting star. He would have to tell his mother this who always told him to make a wish when he saw one. While she was talking he had risen his head from the lens to look at her and then make the note of the meteor stuff when she said it was a comet. He gasped and quickly jammed his eye back into the lens. "Comets are big deals Kurumi, what do we do?!" he said flailing his arms excitedly, his face still glued to the telescope opening. "Should we like....name it?" he added quietly as he watched it move across the dark. |

As she fiddle with the awkward camera and telescope combination, she noticed that August was flailing almost like a fish out of water with his eye pressed against his telescope. They were both going to look like weird pandas at this rate. "August, that is a brilliant idea!" she exclaimed after pushing the shutter button on her camera. "But...what do we call it? I've already been having a hard enough time coming up with a name for the baby house elf..." She then took another peek through the lens, and focused it a bit more. "Oh, look at that, just south of it...I think that that is Uranus." And no, it did NOT sound like something else because she had pronounced it properly. "And right their is Altair...which is part of the constellation Aquila..." The one that meant soaring eagle. "The amusing thing is that this comet is cutting right THROUGH the constellation...suppose that eagle won't be soaring too much longer," she said, laughing at her on intellectual joke. |
Mystery Telescope Challenge RP post 1 Raven walked to the observatory, it was very hard to reach because Slytherin common room was in dungeon and the observatory was in seventh floor  She was a little bit tired. Raven decided to take a rest before, took a drink that she had prepared before and ate a chocolate frogs. Hmm.. Then she stared to the sky. Wow, tonight was very beautiful! She took her telescope, and focused on the lenses. "Lens Focalis!" She looked at the watch. It's already 9 PM and Today was September 20. "Hmm.. I can see Capriconus today." then she used the telescope to search the capriconus. Finally she found it, the shape looked like irregular pentagon, the drew the shape on her note "COOL!!" she shouted happily and then she decided to leave the observatory, because she was sleepy. |

Eddie had not been in his office when he had checked. So the first place that came to his mind was the observatory. After gazing around the room, it was quite obvious that the man was not there. However he did spot two students who didn't seem to be using the room appropriately at all. "YOU! Mister Watson and Miss Wheatborn." Scabior called out loudly. "The observatory is to be used for a place of study...looking at stars and whatnot. Not for your....personal date. Five points from both of your houses, and it will be more if you two don't vacate the area immediately." Ugh. Perhaps Roslund needed to make a note? He watched both students, wanting for them to leave the room. |

Text Cut: Professor and Minnie Harvey was shocked when a professor called out to them.. and told them off.. and he heard Minnie try to explain everything.. before she glared at him and ran off.. he watched her go "Well Professor .. I d..did come here to do my work.. stargazing for Professor Roslund.. and I just happened to meet her here as she finished her work... but I will leave.. and I am sorry about what I did... and it wont happen again, Professor" he said and with that he reluctantly left the observatory in search for Minnie.. he needed to some serious apologising to her.. he and his feelings had got her into trouble.. he had never done that to her before and he never intended to do that.. and he made a note not to ever do it again.. |

Urgh... the library. "Yeah... it's... too quiet." she said, glancing at the floor slightly. "And um... I don't like reading... I'm dyslexic." Eurgh, and it was a weird thing to have. Especially somewhere like this where everyone seemed so clever. Not that it mattered - she just had to do extra studying... and hope that the words didn't start swimming around on the page. She didn't mind instructions... at least they were worded simply and arranged logically. It was when she had to contend with long passages of text that all the letters started dancing and moving around. She shifted uncomfortably and played with the ends of her hair. "I don't really talk about it much - just try and avoid reading." she added. "And you." she replied. Yup, gotta be polite to the Head Boy, right? Right. Only she wished she hadn't mentioned the dyslexia... she'd just felt the need to explain her aversion to the Library. "So, I guess you like Astronomy then?" Because she wasn't the only one far away from her common room... |
mystery telescope challenge post 1 To the observatory. Tennessee who couldn’t feel more vibrant that night decided to go up the Observatory to catch a view of the stars and the lovely Hogwarts sky. She‘s not yet feeling the tiredness after all that had happened that day. NO! There’s no room for tiredness this term. She had spent so much time sleeping last term that there was nothing she could remember. Not nothing but she could barely recall what happened. The brunette flipped her hair and stopped as soon as she reached the top. So, there are a few people up here, she thought she’d have the place all to herself. It had been her habit, that when she feels stressed or drained she’d stare up at the heavens and watch the stars wink back at her. However tonight, she wasn’t feeling stressed at all but she just wanted to do something else rather than do another wander down the halls. She had done enough of it for the day. Looking around, she saw that there was a brand new LARGE telescope. Fantastic, she thought. But she had no intentions of using such thing that would just cost her much effort. Plus, she knew that that telescope’s not open for use of students. She walked towards the small telescopes lined at the wall instead and grabbed one. She stared at the sky before she peered into the telescope, adjusting the lenses with both hands for her to be able to finally have a good view of what she wants to look at. She continued to move until she finally came to a halt. "Ahhhh! There," she said finally facing a little bit more North. She was very much aware of the constellations and had always adored them. How on Earth were they perfectly aligned and placed to their locations right now. She loved astronomy and studying what's out there in the universe. "The swan..." Tennessee smiled as she saw in her telescope the cross constellation in the Northern Hemisphere. She very well knew that the constellations she had been looking at that moment had different stories of origin. Great but still mythical origin. She stopped looking for a moment and turned her gaze at the stars chart. "Oh, of course. It is also called the Cygnus," she told herself. If there's one thing that reminds her of the swan it's the muggle movie, The Swan lake. The princess turned swan. She then again looked at the constellation for the last time before she placed back the telescope to where she had found it. The stars did remind her of a lot of things and Tenn strode off the observatory. |
Just for you Pix! Now I'm off to work. ;) Quote:
O__o They were so lucky to see it tonight. Augst quickly wrote the date and time on his parchment and made a rough line of travel across his sky map he had sketched earlier. Another jam of the eye into the telescope and he knew he was going to have bruising later. But it was worth it! "Ummm...I don't know." That reminded him, he had to go submit a name for Nimma's baby House Elf too. That thing was so cute. Oh, yeah back to comet. "Umm how about something to do with Gryffindor? Or our last names--The Goldstein-Hollingberry Comet?" Oooh that sounded official. He watched as the comet moved through the different constellations. He wondered how many other people across the world were seeing this. |
Text Cut: Aurora No Professor has been as clumsy as Dodson was. Of course, it was another kind of clumsiness. But he had no idea Roslund had it in him, "He is?" for someone who was around telescopes and delicate instruments it seemed rather odd that he was also rather clumsy. Funny. Yet odd. "Never noticed before." Really, Treyen didn't notice many things. Er, wasn't that the point of libraries, though? The quietness? So one could study? Oh, she didn't like--Ah. Got it. "I see." Bummer, though, because the library had a VERY interesting collection. To a person who liked books, that is. "That's completely understandable." That she both didn't talk about it, and that she avoided reading. He wasn't commenting on it. Nor mentioning it to anyone else. There was a smile on Treyen's face and he nodded in the obvious agreement they seemed to have about...meeting? Right. Whatever. Astronomy? It wasn't his favorite. But he liked it. "I do. I sort of enjoy the quietness of it sometimes." When one wanted to think, then it was very welcomed. If not, then Astronomy was extremely nerve-wracking because there was very little to do...practice-wise, anyway. |

I see... hmm. That was weird, she almost expected people to laugh at her here. Especially the ones who liked reading... "Yeah..." she said. What else was there to say, really? 'I'm glad you do' or 'well done'? They would both sound either ridiculous or condescending... and she didn't want to be either of those things. "I suppose. I much prefer music to reading... that's why I don't like the silence." she explained. Though she was going to have to go somewhere to revise for her theory... maybe the library would help... maybe. "Like I said, quiet isn't my thing. But the stars are beautiful." she said, glancing back at the charts. "Maybe they'd make a good tune." All twinkly... lots of pizzicato and high notes... she should try it sometime. Or maybe recommend it to her tutor. Her fingers tapped out a little rhythm as she thought about it. |

"Yeah they are!" he said nodding. "Oh sorry, I'm Logan. Logan Floyd." he said smiling and sticking his hand out towards the girl. "What's your name?" he asked. |

"I am sure that you just hear my discussion with those younger students about how the Observatory is to be used for study purposes only." He looked toward Aurora. Were they studying? No. They were chatting. "Five points from each of your houses." He REALLY should have made it ten each. "And that messages goes to EVERYONE else." Scabior's voice rose. "The observatory is for study purposes only. If I catch anyone else not using this space correctly I will take 50 points from your house and you will land an immediate detention." He wasn't in the mood to deal with this. Without another word he turned and left. Perhaps he could find Eddie elsewhere and tell him about the MISUSE of his observatory. |
going to be busy...people coming over XD Quote:
Looking out now, the comet was framed by the window enough that they really didn't need to use the telescopes, although it certainly appeared much smaller now. She checked on the picture she had just taken. Oh, that had worked much better than she expected it to. She should probably invest in something that had a better zoom though. Using a telescope was a little impractical. After attaching it to the parchment, Kurumi looked over at August and tried not to laugh too much. "That seems like such a long name for a comet," she laughed. It did make her wonder if they had actually discovered a new one, or if this was one that was making its appearance in their solar system again after having been gone for so many years. "We could always combine our last names... the Goldberry Comet," she suggested. After adding a title and their names to the parchment, Kurumi held it out for August to look at. "You think we should go and get Professor Roslund? You know, to ask about the comment." He would probably know if it was a new discovery or not, right? Kurumi was no expert on charting stars, so the fact that she hadn't found it on her map didn't mean that it hadn't be scheduled to be in the night sky. |
got it, Dani. XD Music versus reading. Okay. He got it. Yet he had NO time to reply to anything that Aurora had said...because...his name was called out. By...hey, what was Professor Scabior doing in the Observatory? Wasn't he a bit away from his own floor, anyway? The boy stood up at once. And blinked, before frowning at...what?! But he was only waiting for the night to fall before doing some stargazing himself. GRANTED, he wasn't going to waste his time giving any sort of explanation. Scabior would only think of them as excuses, and well, right now Treyen wasn't in the mood to listen to anything else the wizard had to say. He had planned on saying something, though, because his mouth had opened...but he decided against it and simply took his bag. "Got it." One less student to attend his lesson. And...he left. Just like that. Seriously, awesome student Hadley chose to represent Hufflepuff, eh? |

10 points because Katie is smart!.... and awesome. "Pleasure, I'm Katelyn Star" She smiled as she shook his hand, she then released and looked back to the stars, as they were beautiful |
Re-arranging cuz i can. Text Cut: Logan & Katie Running into Professor Scabior on the staircase Professor Roslund was up to speed with the evenings point deduction as he headed into the observatory to do some of his own stargazing. Noticing two student's; a lion and snake deep in conversation he headed over to them. "Good evening, are you two up here to stargaze?" If that wasn't the case then Edvard was going to need to deduct some points, sadly. Just talking you could do out by the lake. Quote:

Aurora gaped at Professor Scabior. She had actually intended to wait for the night to fall - sure, it hadn't been her initial purpose, but how could he say they were breaking the rules when there was only - she glanced at the sky - about ten minutes before the autumn night set in. It wasn't like they were talking about anything against the rules... And Treyen had had his textbook with him. Urgh. So unfair. Something more to add to what she was feeling right now. Great. She walked outbid the observatory as calm as she could and stormed down the stairs. |
From the dungeon to the astronomy tower was probably the most exhausting walk Hades had ever went. Imagine walking up the stairs from under the lake to the highest part of the castle. His backpack and telescope only made everything worse. As soon as he reached the observatory, Hades sprawled out on the floor, panting heavily and not caring if anyone was around. Hey! Wasn't that the guy who had his hat in the dust bin at the Platform? And there was a girl and a boy about his age... He saw them at the tapiory garden the other day! "Good evening, Professor...?" he still didn't know the guy's name. Hades set up his telescope at one of the windows before he checked his watch. Then, he scribbled something on a piece of parchment. Now back to stargazing. Hades moved the telescope slightly norther to the east. A few minutes passed as he moved his telescope sideways, up, down, back and forth until he finally spotted something not so far from the east. It was a constellation known as Lynx and Hades quickly took his eye off the eyepiece, checked his watch and scribbled something on the same parchment. After that, he changed the view of the telescope from east to west. He waited and waited for almost half an hour for something, anything to appear. Suddenly, something dark flew by in front of his telescope much to Hades' surprise. "HOLY MERLIN!! WHAT THE HECK'S THAT?!" exclaimed the boy as he jerked away from the telescope. Oh, crikes! Just a bloody owl. Who the heck sent their owl at this time of night? Unfortunately, that was the last thing caught on his telescope since Hades almost fell asleep several time to pay much attention on what was on the sky. He checked his watch and it was nearly two in the morning. Better make one last gaze before he went off to bed. Fortunately to Hades, the night happened to be the seasonal night where the Aurigids meteor shower took place. Excited upon what he had seen, the boy's energy boosted again. Even after the meteor shower finished, Hades continued to gaze for about another hour when he realised he needed to sleep. After packing up his telescope, he wrote one more observation on the parchment. |

As soon as she was finished the boy turned and began to check the info she had written, 'Pluto....near Uranus...through the eagle constellation.' Looked good. His attention was then brought back to the naming of the comet and the realization that the name he had suggested was a tad too long. "Yeah, I guess it the Goldstein-Hollingberry comet is a long name." He then listened to her suggestion and grinned. "I like it!" He was about to agree to go and fetch Professor Roslund from his office that wasn't too far, when the man showed up. Perhaps he had some listening devices up here in order to spy on the students or he may not sleep at all, being specilized in the feild of Astronomy. "Oh good evening Professor Roslund, we, Kurumi and I, we think we discovered a comet, right there!" he said excitedly, pointing at the sky. |
Quote:
Kurumi knelt down and picked up the mug she had dropped earlier, filling it with hot chocolate, and began sipping on it. "I could go and..." Quote:
Kurumi juggled the mug in her hand and managed to not drop it this time. MERLIN! Did Professor Roslund have a trace placed on the school similar to what Lord Voldemort had during the Second Wizarding War? Saying his name told you the exact location you were in and then he appeared there?!:whaa: Wait...there was no apparting within Hogwarts...unless Professor Roslund was doing something else...She slowly turned around to look at the professor and her eyes narrowed suspiciously for just a moment. "Good evening, Professor Roslund. Thank you for giving us permission to be up here and..." Quote:
Kurumi giggled and then stepped aside so that the Astronomy professor could take a look through the telescope should he desire. "It's right there to the south west there. It's moved well past Altair now." |
Quote:
Professor Roslund turned to August. "Are you sure it’s a real comet and not a satellite or a big owl?" Owls were known to be taken for something else entirely. As if his thought was confirmed Hades exclaimed that he saw something big and black moving across the sky which turned out to be nothing but an owl out on a late night flight. Quote:
