OOC: I'm sorry if she sounds mean. >_< She doesn't intend to. D: |
Evelyn gave a slight raise of her eyebrows when a girl suddenly turned towards them and basically asked them to shut up. "Sure." Evelyn stated abruptly. Yeah, she'd been chattering. A lot. It would be better if she kept quiet for a while. She turned towards Avery with a smile and whispered, "Looks like we're disturbing people. We'll talk later." She leaned against her chair and took a large gulp of her mocha. |

Food that he ate at home. He eat all sorts of food, all the time, anywhere really. But his favorite definitely owned the others. Adam raised his hand and said the required speech, "Well, I live right in London and one of my favorite home cooked meals is Toad in the Hole. It's kind of similar to Yorkshire pudding, but it's my favorite." Adam said smiling brightly. |
Jory raised his hand. "I'm from Guyana and my favourite food's chicken curry and rice,'' the Hufflepuff said. He wondered when he was going to visit the little country again. He missed it. |
SPOILER!!: zeprof Ohhh favorite dishes. Vickers creased his lips as he tried to recall something specifically from the US, which he must say is difficult. He was from New York aka Melting Pot of the world, the world's dishes are their native dishes. But there was one dish he would safely say he loved more than any other "Professor, in the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland, theres something called Crab Feast, its basically crabs or even crawfish that they steam up with water or a flavorful liquid, then serve it with a side dish like corn on a cob." its pretty simple but he loved that combo. |
Raven eyed to Zhenya. She was regret to be snappish, but she didn't want to bother her friend with her problems. She knew that Zhenya was very happy with her family nowadays. Well, she envied her so much. Back to class, Raven! Well, she need to answer the question. But, what was her favorite dish from England? "Well, Professor." she raised her hand. "I am from England and my favorite is Shepherds' Pie." |
charlotte entered the muggle studies classroom took a coffee and started to look around |
Raising her hand, she smiled. "My mother's family is from the United States," she beamed, bouncing a little. "And my favorite food from that area is Fish and Fries!" Cause those were AWESOME! But maybe that was just because they rarely ate English food, preferring the fried stuff her mom used to make when she was alive. Elysia still made hot dogs and stuff, but it wasn't the same... |
Sean thought about what his favorite food was. He sipped his coffee and slowly raised his hand. "Professor, I'm from England and my favorite food has to be lamb chops!" He said, not a super English food, but who cares? Lamb chops were bomb. |

Ellie raised her hand excitedly and waited her turn. "I'm from Ireland. My mum makes the best skirts and kidney stew. It's basically just pork skirts, kidneys and potatoes. It's really good." She smiled widely, proud of her Irish heritage. Though not many people like kidneys that much. Ellie loved them. |
Gemma nodded at each of the students as their answers posted onto the board. "Wow, I guess I really didn't imagine how cultured we were...so many different people and so many different countries and backgrounds in one little room..." she said excitedly glancing back up at the list on the board suspended above them. "We are truly lucky to be able to meet so many people from so many different places..." she said smiling brightly as she took a seat once again at her tall table at the front of the room. With a flick of her wrist, large rectangular white plates flew into the room and landed in front of each of the students. The plates were divided into ten different sections. Inside each section were a few bites of various dishes from around the world. Once all of the plates had landed, Gemma continued, "Like I mentioned today is going to be part one of our trip around the world eating our way through different dishes..." she paused and took a quick drink and then continued. "Today we are going to focus on dishes from North and South America..." And with the mention of these two locations the flags from these areas flapped wildly in the imaginary wind above the students. After a few seconds they became motionless. "On your plate are bites from ten different dishes in these locations. We'll go around to each dish and talk about each one..." she flicked her wand and glasses of water flew in and landed at the tables as well. "Now, I don't expect you to eat everything on your plate, but I would like you to try atleast a bite of the dish as we discuss it...." she took a sip of her water, "And along the way remember some of the basic manners we spoke about last time...this isn't a formal setting but simple manners and etiquette should be observed..." With a flick of her wand, an image of their plates appeared on the board hanging from the ceiling and the top left hand square was highlighted. "So, let's get started...." she said excitedly, "Our first dish is one that was mentioned by one of your fellow students." she motioned towards the young lady, "It is known as Poutine..." SPOILER!!: Poutine She grabbed her napkin and placed it across her lap. Then she grabbed her fork and took a little bit of the first sampling on the plate. "O everyone, please give it a try...don't be scared...all of these dishes are amazing!" "Can anyone, other than the lady that mentioned it, tell me where this dish is from or what is in the dish or just anything about the dish?" she asked the students as she continued eating the last few bites of the dish. OOC: Please do try the dish...you can share with others what you think of it, but keep it to a minimum please...don't forget to raise your hand when you answer...we are going to move fast today...probably going to be posting each dish every two hours or so.... O and remember Gemma sees you..yes you! |

Evelyn finished her mocha finally and placed the mug on the table when the professor started to speak. And..suddenly a plate filled with food appeared in front of her. Ten different dishes!? Wow. When the professor proceeded to say that they could try one bite of each dish, Evelyn was a little relieved. She definitely couldn't eat everything. The girl placed the napkin on her lap and picked up the fork. She took a bite of the dish and chewed on it slowly. Hm. It was good. She'd heard of poutine but she'd never had it before. Evelyn raised her hand and asked curiously, "Professor, isn't this dish from Canada?" |
Text Cut: professor Lily looked at her plate as it appeared in front of her. She waited until the professor was done talking before she decided to taste the dish. A small bite was all she needed. It wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't her favorite. Lily placed her fork down and raised her hand to answer the question. "I think it has french fries in it." That's what it looked like at least. Lily had tried poutine before but it didn't look quite like this one, and she thought that the other one tasted better too. |
Cardigan listened to the professor intently. She had never been over to North/South America area yet so she would be need to be attent and alert. She took a sip of her Mocha, leaving a fresh line of Foam across her upper lip. With a quick movement of her tongue, the sweet Foam was cleared from her face. She scooped up a forkfull of the Poutine and took a bite.Mulling it around a bit in her mouth, she noticed how it had a Potatoish taste to it.Not as good as some things she's had,but it was good all the same. "Didn't Poutine originate in Quebec?"Cardigan asked the professor thoughtfully. She may not have ever been to Quebec or any of the North/South America area, but she still had a vast knowledge! She took a small sip of her Mocha, her throat being parched and all.Didn't want to have a parched throat when trying lots and lots of food! |
Sean looked at the dish, he wasn't sure what to think about it. He'd heard about it but just wasn't sure if he really wanted to try it. He sucked it up, and took a big bite. And it was amazing! He savored the bite, smiling to himself. Now the Professor had asked a question right? So he was going to try and answer the best he could. He raised his hand and said "I believe it's a Canadian dish Professor." He thought about it more, thinking about what flavors he tasted. "It tastes like there is potatoes and some kind of cheese in it." |
Alex wrinkled his eyebrows. He was usually very adventurous when it came to food but THIS...this looked like something had gotten curdled milk split all over it. EWWWWW. Still, it couldn't hurt to try it just once...maybe he'd like it! He knew very well it WASN'T spoiled milk on there, it just looked like it, it was probably a cheese of some sort. He took a bite as it made it's way around and he found he was right--or at least he thought so. It tasted like cheese. It had to be cheese, right? He raised his hand, remembering that he'd heard about this dish even though he'd never heard of what was in it until now. "It's from Canada, right? That place with all the maple syrup?" he answered. He was surprised there wasn't any syrup in this! |
Angelina stared down at the plate. With her not being picky about food what so ever maybe she will like it. Take her fork she took some of the Pourtine. When she began to eat it and taste the flavored Angelina thought it was amazing! She liked it a lot it came on her list of great foods. She couldn't wait to try other foods after this now! After she was done eating the Pourtine she raised her hand and said, "Is it for Canada or somewhere like that?" she wanted to say from Sweden but that wouldn't be right. |
O_____o Ellie looked skeptically at the first dish they were trying. Poutine? She had never heard of it. And probably for a good reason. It looked... weird. Picking up her fork, Ellie poked it around for a second before stabbing what seemed to be a french fry. But what were those giant white chunks? Ellie looked around at the other students skeptically before looking back at the poutine. She pursed her lips and took a bite. ... Cheese? That white chunk tasted sort of cheesy. And there was some sort of gravy or sauce on it. It was kind of weird. But intriguing. And made Ellie took another bite. Hm. |
Sierra stared at the dish in front of her. Poutine. Hmm. All she saw was a pile of chips with cheese on top of them. Oh, and there was a gravy and what looked like a sauce, too. "It looks like what we call chips," Sierra said, raising her hand, "or...french fries." Lowering her hand, she added, "There's cheese, gravy, and a sauce on top, too." She stared at the dish some more. She honestly couldn't decide whether it looked delicious or revolting. "Oh, and it's Canadian." |
Ella tried the dish and wrinkled her nose, it was not her favorite. She wouldn't mind the dish if it didn't have so much stuff on it. She had no idea where it was from either so she listened to the other students answer the Professor. |
Nate looked at the food that was being served right now. He thought it looked kind of wierd. He had to admit some of the things he eats is pretty wierd to. So he had to try it. He wasn't sure where it was from, but he could take a guess at what was in it. He raised his hand and said "It looks like what americans call french fries. With some gravy and cheese. Also it looks like what over here we call mash. Over in america I think it's called mashed potatoes." After that he folded his napkin and put it on his lap. He then took his fork and tried a bite of it. He then looked in amazement. "This is good." Nate whispered to himself. |
