SPOILER!!: Mr. Murdoch aka Mr. Nice Man Alyssa looked as Mr. Murdoch took her card and read, re-read and re-read it over again. 'Oh dear. He's going to laugh any minute now. I know he is.'Alyssa thought to herself. But then Mr. Murdoch got up from his sofa, took her card and pinned it to his mantle place. 'He liked it!' Alyssa smiled. She was happy that he did. 'Okay back to Ancient Runes class now.'she thought to herself before zipping up her backpack and joining the rest of the other students. |
from Ancient Runes class Vickers hurtled forward through the portal with a start, his feet scuffing against the surface which he could feel is not the classroom floor. He peeked one eye open then the other, staring at the somewhat familiar features of the Groundskeeper's abode. He turned his head back quickly, seeing a blank wall behind him. "It worked!" he murmured grinning then promptly stepped away from it, just to clear the way of the next person coming through it. Eh, now his bloody finger was stinging a bit. He turned to look at the Groundskeeper who was already taking stock of the students "Uh 'scuse me Sir, would you happen to have a bandage or essence of dittany?" he said as he raised his left hand with with the bloody finger. |
Following on the heels of Mr VANDERBILT, Oliver walked through the portal exit straight into Waylon's hut. And it was a bit squishy, wasn't it? Maybe he should have picked a different place to put the exit. Eh...they were here now. "Yo Murdoch! You need a bigger hut man." Perhaps if the Ancient Runes professor had forewarned Mr Murdoch then they might have been able to cast an extension charm on the place. Oooh snacks. Oliver made a beeline for the table and scooped up some yummy's including and unbeknownst to him, a couple of dog biscuits as well. "So I see you made it all through alright. Anyone feeling any sort of after effects or anything?" He looked over at his friend. "Don't worry, this is just a pitstop. We'll be out of your hair very soon." Onto somewhere even better. |

When he asked the boy if he was all right, he did not expect to get a full back story about his family and how they normally traveled. Of course, it did explain why he had fallen when he came through the portal.. but yeah, Waylon wasn't really one for so many details. It was probably the reason why he had worked with plants and animals for so long. They never explained things. "You'll get better with your landing." he said with, what he hoped to be an encouraging smile. "Just remember to land with your feet spread apart." At least that's what Waylon always did. And he hadn't fallen in quite some time. Quote:
Of course Waylon was going to give him a little bit of a hard time. He remembered all too well at the Founder's Fandango how he had called him Merdog, and if the boy thought he had forgotten about that, he was mistaken! Surprisingly. Usually he had a horrible memory. Shrugging to himself, the Groundskeeper's gaze followed to where the Hufflepuff was pointing and he nodded his head. "Go ahead, knock yourself out." Not literally, Waylon hoped he knew that.. Quote:
Grinning, even though he was afraid his hut was going to start bursting at the sides from so many people inside of it, Waylon was just about to direct the Ravenclaw to the snacks when.. "What happened to you?" Or maybe.. he didn't want to know. He didn't want to hear about the crazy things Ancient Rune people did. Scrunching up his face as he took another glance at the bloody finger, he moved over to his desk and pulled open a drawer. Finding his little first aid kit, he tossed it in the boy's direction. "There are band-aids and some cream stuff in there." Did anyone else need a band-aid!? Quote:
Waylon would have given his friend a hard time, but he was just relieved that the guy had shown up at all. Yes, there were alot of doubts in the back of his mind about seeing him in his hut. Rolling his eyes at that comment of needing a bigger hut, the Groundskeeper moved back to his sofa and plopped himself down on it. He may have mumbled something about needing a bigger hut to fit that big head of his inside. "A few kids felt sick when they arrived." He didn't remember which ones, and he didn't care that Oliver wasn't talking to him. "That one," he pointed to Vickers, "is bleeding. And you're about to eat a dog biscuit.." |
Quote:
Moving closer to where the Groundskeeper was, she asked. "Uhm Mr. Murdoch, sir. Where's Biscuit?" and she turned her head to and fro to look for the dog that she became very fond of. |

Oakey quickly popped up from the couch as soon as Professor Jenkins came through the portal. He'd have to stuff himself quickly before the Professor moved on with the class. He hurried over to the sweets popped a dog treat in his mouth and began chewing. This tasted weird, he moved the chewed treat from one side of his mouth to the other with a curious look on his face. Oakey swallowed the treat hard, then pocketed a 3 more for the road. |
Ella decided to jump on the chance to eat some sweets while she had the chance since Mr. Murdoch had gone to the trouble of offering them. She accepted cheerfully while waiting for Professor Jenkins to appear. When the good professor did arrive, Ella waited for instructions, wondering what they would be doing next. At his question, she held up her bleeding finger sheepishly, shrugging her shoulders. That was really the only negative thing she had to show for her journey through the archway. |

That was totally the second thing on Arya's mind after making herself a plate. Which was why she sat soooooo close to him. Did he want a cookie? She picked up one JUST for him. Hehe. Quote:

"I felt my stomach turn, Professor" He answered after raising his hand in the air, the blood on his finger he had used to prick himself for the portal effect was trailing down his hand as he held it up. "Is it harmful to go through a portal like that all the time, sir?" Daichi asked not noticing his bloodied hand. |

plus ze Professah too SPOILER!!: zeGroundskeeprrrrr "It was for the runes...." the Ravenclaw began to explain when the Professor himself came through the portal. He turned his head again just in time for him to hurriedly catch the firs aid kit arching towards him "Thank you Sir." he replied as he went on to work on his finger. As he heard the Professor speak he looked up, shrugging his shoulders and nodding his head a little "I'm fine Sir." surprisingly he didnt feel queasy at all, perhaps closing his eyes as he entered the portal had helped him avoid that disoriented feeling. |

Oliver crammed some 'human' snacks into his mouth, gave Waylon a slap on the back. "Thanks for the use of your hut man." he said after swallowing his mouthful of food and moving over to the portal. "Okay listen up." he called out. "We're going back through the portal. This time however, we're heading outside of Hogwarts. So I want you to complete the steps once again but I need you to concentrate on the place Buckinghamshire." Oliver looked over at Waylon and gave him a salute. "Alright when you're ready." ooc: Please post your charrie going through the portal. And here you will find the steps to complete your final. |
Post 1: Going through the archway Ella smiled and stared at her shoes after Professor Jenkins winked at her. She was probably red too, which was why her shoes seemed so interesting at the moment. The first year continued to listen and her head snapped up when Jenkins said they'd be heading outside Hogwarts. O__O Whoa! Where would they be going? Ella was quite excited about the new adventure they would be starting and tried to recall the steps she had to go through to get through the portal the first time. First, there was the carving into the archway, then the blood spreading, and then saying the name of the rune before walking through the archway. Oh, and to think of the place! That was important! Ella approached the archway again, pulling her wand out of her robe pocket. She found an empty spot and knelt down, trying to remember the correct spell. Something with an I...Intageous? No, Inelligent? No. Intaglio! Yes! Pointing her wand at the arch, Ella said the incantation. "Intaglio!" Then she carefully began to carve the rune Ehwaz on this side of the archway. When it was done, she spread the blood that was left on her wound over the rune and glanced at it sideways. Yup, looked covered alright. She glanced over her shoulder, waving at the groundskeeper. "Thanks for the treats, Mr. Murdoch! See-ya!" Then after taking a deep breath, Ella said the word that would get her through the portal, thinking hard on Buckinghamshire. "Ehwaz...Ehwaz...Ehwaz!" This time, Ella was having trouble getting through. She closed her eyes, concentrating even harder on Buckinghamshire. "Ehwaz!" She said forecfully, and this time, it worked. |
Post 1 Daichi nodded his head when Professor Jenkins told him that it wasn't harmful when a person wanted to use a portal like this more than one time. His mind went to fantasize a portal opening up in his dormitory and going straight to the duck pond. HE COULD GET ALL THE DUCKS IN HIS ROOM LIKE THAT! But that kind of magic would show and the Slytherin let out a loud siiiigh when he knew he couldn't use it. As he lowered his arm , Daichi now noticed the small trail of blood seeping down his hand. Luckily it wasn't much otherwise he had fainted right on the spot but now he simple wiped his hand on his robe, dirtying it and went back to listening to the Professor. Concentrating with all his might on the place the Professor wanted them to think about, Daichi kept wondering if they were REALLY going to Buckinghamshire. The third year approached the archway while still concentrating on the place they needed to go. As Ella was busy drawing the Ehwaz rune on the archway, Daichi moved to grab his wand and pointed it on another empty space. "Intaglio!" he shouted and concentrated again. He drew the rune and after he was done , Ella was already going through. Daichi gasped for a second when he remembered cleaning his wound on his robe, he wondered if he needed to prick himself again. But he didn't want to! So instead of pricking his finger, Daichi wiped his robe on the archway and a small stain of blood on the rune he had carved in. Stepping in the archway, Daichi felt the same pressure he had felt earlier while going through the portal from the classroom to Mr.Murdoch's hut. But this time the pressure was stronger. Maybe it was because they were going further away this time? Actually leaving Hogwarts! Leaving school during school time~ If this wasn't a class he would have felt like a rebel hehe. "Ehwaz ehwaz ..." Daichi said while concentrating on Buckinghamshire. It was harder to go through the portal this time and after a loud "EHWAZ!" he felt his body moving throught he archway and went through. |
Post 1 Going back through the portal Alyssa listened as Professor Jenkins told them what they had to do. She waved goodbye at Mr. Murdoch,"Goodbye Mr. Murdoch, thanks for allowing us to be here." Then she walked towards the archway, and taking out her wand she said, "Intaglio" pointing it at a spot on the archway and began carving the Ehwaz rune into it. As she carved, she concentrated on what the rune represented and what she wanted it to do. Once she had finished carving the rune, she took out her safety pin again and pricked her middle finger this time. When it started to bleed, she carefully smeared the blood, tracing it on the rune while concentrating again on what the rune represented and where she wanted to go. She traced the rune with her blood until it was thoroughly covered with blood. She wiped the excess blood off into a tissue paper before stepping in front of the archway. She then concentrated on her destination which was Buckinghamshire and then said the words,"EHWAZ....EHWAZ....EHWAZ....BUCKINGHAMSHIRE." She knew that the spell had worked, because the air fizzled around her. Taking a deep breath, she walked through the archway and disappeared. |
Post #1 Nerida nodded and smirked, yes she was pretty small..little... She turned to Mr.Murdoch and said Thanks for letting us stay and for the snacks. Have a great day! She walked over to the archway, and took out her wand she said, "Intaglio" and she then began to crave the Ehwaz rune into it. Luckily her finger was still bleeding so she didnt have to prick herself again, she whipped her finger on the rune, tracing it. She took out a tissue and whipped her finger and thought of Buckinghamshire for a moment and then said Ehwaz...Ehwaz... For a moment she thought it didnt work until the air started to fizzile and then she was gone. |
Post #1 - Going through portal Amelia was sitting in the chair quietly and eating her snacks when she listened to the Professor and everyone else talk. She was rather enjoying sitting down and lounging so she wasn't really wanting to get up again to do the rest of the Ancient Runes work. Though she supposed that it was best for her to do so since this was for marks. D: Slowly getting up, she turned her attention to Mr. Murdoch. "Thank you for letting us stay for a bit." It had been lovely. She then pointed her wand at the archway. "Intaglio," she called out before carving the Rune. Reaching into her pocket again she pricked another finger and used the blood from it to cover her carving with blood. Now she focused on Buckinghamshire. "Ehwaz," she kept repeated over and over again until she could feel that weird sensation again. The portal was ready and she stepped through it again. |
Post #1: through the portal Oh boy they had to go thought the portal yet again. This was toturess. So he got back up from where he was sitting and approached the portal. Here it goes. He checked to see if there was still any blood from the already pricked finger. There was, but unfortunately it was all dried out. He might as well prick the same finger. So he did so. Thankfully he could hold in the ow that time. He carved in the rune. Then he put the blood on the rune. He then concentrated "Ehwaz.....Ehwaz.....Ehwaz. Bucking hamshire." Nothing happened. So he tried again. "Ehwaz....Ehwaz.......Ehwaz. BuckingHamshire." Still nothing happened. So he tried yet a third time. Three times a charm Nate thought. "Ehwaz......Ehwaz.......Ehwaz. BuckingHamshire." Then finally he got teleported away. Before he got got fully teleported he said "Goodby Mr. Murdoch." Then he was gone. |
Post#1 Kurumi sort of felt bad for the Groundskeeper. They had transported themselves here...only to leave right away? Had they just come here to eat the man's snacks? Kurumi made a mental note to perhaps write the man another thank you card and bake him some cookies for the intrusion. Well, for him and his doggie. Bowing quickly to the Groundskeeper, Kurumi made her way towards the portal and removed her wand. "Intaglio...Eihwaz...Eihwaz ...Eihwaz...Eihwaz...Eihwaz," she said, repeating the rune's name until the carving was complete. Now...for...that part. Kurumi swallowed hard. She hadn't brought any of the red paint with her, thinking that they wouldn't be needed it, and her eyes drifted towards Professor Jenkins. Oh, look at that, he had paint with him. Tip toeing towards him, Kurumi bowed almost apologetically towards him before taking a vial of it. She just couldn't do it...prick her own finger...and see blood. Nope, not unless Professor Jenkins wanted to have a passed out Gryffindor on the floor. Which might happen anyway considering that she was getting exhausted from all the concentration it took to transport herself. Returning to the portal now and finding the rune she had carved, Kurumi outlined it with a thin layer of the paint and then stood under it with her eyes shut tight, just as she had done before. "Eihwaz eihwaz eihwaz...e e e e e e e e e," Kurumi murmured, furrowing her brow and concentrating hard on their new location, Buckinghamshire. Only she had no idea what Buckinghamshire was like...so this was going to be even more difficult. "Iwu iwa iwi iwa iwu...iwo iwe iwi iwa iwu...e e e e e e e e e." ZAP! CRACKLE! POP! Kurumi's body vanished from the hut...hopefully to reappear in Buckinghamshire. |

Vickers looked down at his finger, now all nice and snug in its bandage. If he knew they were still going to transport themselves elsewhere he would've waited for a bit before wrapping it up. But a field trip was something Vickers was happy to hear, given how he missed his hikes back home. He took hold of his wand and finding a vacant spot on the portal started to chant the spells again "Intaglio Ehwaz..." he repeated several times until a clear carving of the rune appeared. Peeling the bandage off carefully, he tucked it into his hand while used the other to squeeze a bit more blood out of his finger. He hissed at the sting of the reopening wound, then quickly tapped the blood onto the Ehwaz carving. Shutting his eyes tight he whispered the name "Buckinghamshire", the sound echoing in his head. He stepped through the portal and for a moment felt like he was going to loose his foothold, until he felt his feet hitting the soft earth. |
post 1 fainting. *tongue* Laura watched as people went through the portal using there own blood again, Laura didn't like it very much and she was scared of hurting herself even more, she had gone through the portal once and well what if she got stuck and couldn't get out. Laura was starting to panic as she thought about what the Professor would say if she couldn't do it, she was sure he would be cross with her and probably take points, which wouldn't be a good thing. Laura looked at the Professor. "I can...." Laura started to say but the pressure got to much and she fainted on the spot. |
Extra Credit - DADA Homework #2 So Amelia really wasn't the best drawer out there. She especially wasn't great at drawing people. But she wanted to give Mr. Murdoch a picture to thank him for the help that he gave the class during the lesson. He had also been a help in the Ancient Runes class by letting them use his hut, so she was rather grateful to him on both counts. She had planned to knock on his door and give him the picture in person... but he might be busy or sleeping or something. Not wanting to impose on him, she decided that sticking it to his door would be a nice alternative. Taking out the picture she had drawn, she made sure that it was free of any creases or wrinkles before positioning it on the door where he could easily see it. After applying a sticking charm, she wandered away and back towards the castle. |

'Are you alright, Laurab-' Just as he asked it Laura fell to the floor. Aaron let out a girlish squeak and got down next to Laura. He prodded her cheek carefully, but wasn't sure everything was alright. 'SIR! I THINK LAURA IS DEAD!' Aaron yelled out in panic. |
Post 1- Heading through the Portal Gideon got the hint...class was over and the final project was about to begin. After Professor Jenkins filled them in on what they needed to do to make the trip successful to their destination...Buckinghamshire, he watched as other students headed back out through the portal, waiting his turn. When it was finally up to him to take the leap sort of speak, he went through the steps he needed to take. Thankfully his finger was still able to supply the small amount of blood required. "Intaglio..." he cast with his wand out, carefully moving it to form the shape of the rune Ehwaz. When he was finished and satisfied with its appearance, Gideon pinched his finger a little to get the blood to well up before reaching up and wiping his bloody digit to cover the rune. Now for the hard part, actually imagining himself heading to a place, a rather vague place and hoping the portal would successful take him exactly where he needed to go. "Ehwaz...Ehwaz...Ehwaz," the Gryffindor spoke as he focused on Buckinghamshire and stepped within the portal. The air started to change around him and the next thing he knew the same feeling from before took over and he was gone. |
