The Magical Creatures Sanctuary is an outdoor enclosure that looks like a park, full of green grass and random trees. It actually contains a variety of creatures scattered about, ones that don't mind being outdoors during the fall and spring. In the winter, most of these creatures will be brought into the Barnyard where students can continue looking after them.
If you're feeling useful, pick up a shovel from the shed at the back and scoop up animal poo! If you're feeling lonely, go visit with a puffskein or a kneazle or an abraxan, aethonan, or granian. If you're feeling sad, go sit by the brambles and whine to the augurey. Who knows, your skills around these animals might just result in your earning a few house points.
All animals within this enclosure are rated X, XX, or XXX. Please remember your character's skill level, year, and familiarity around animals when visiting the Sanctuary.

Ella sighed. All that beautiful singing and still no sign of the augurey...it must be hiding! She looked down at her watch and seeing that it was getting late, decided to head back to the castle. She was quite hungry after all. She started to walk away when she stopped suddenly, turning to face the nest. "Don't think I've given up augurey! I'll be back!" With that, Ella turned and started to skip back to the castle.
Nate leaves because he hears a commotion by the fron gate.
A few minutes later he comes running back. He says "Professor you should com and see this by the front gate. A thestral some how got loose from the forbidden forest. It was just about to charge. It was being backed up into a gate. The gryffyndor prefect said someone should go. So here I am." He was panting because he was out of breath from running down here.

Hat? She looked towards Professor Williamson feeling utterly confused why he was complimenting her on a hat when she hadn't been wearing one.

Kurumi had found it just about the time that the Healer had said something about something being slippery. Kurumi removed the fish from on top of her head, its body wiggling and thrashing about wildly. "Oops," she giggled as the the minnow slipped out of her hand and into the pond for the lobalug. "That one seemed especially eager to become lunch."
Sushi anyone? The minnow would make a much better sushi plate than a hat for her anyway.
Ahh, hmm, hmmmmmm. Kurumi was just full of good questions, wasn't she? "I actually don't know?" Willy answered hesitantly, shaking some water off his hand from the lobalug's food bucket.
"The females are generally larger and not as... pretty looking, at least in a lot of creatures," Willy pointed out, sneaking a glance at Cece. Thank Merlin it wasn't true in humans. "Males have to attract the females, so they tend to be flashier.... and I'm guessing the males have more potent venom."
That said, "I think he's a he." Yeah, just a guess, but Willy was good at these sort of things.

She could have just walked on in minutes ago, without even asking, and the man would have never known the difference. She could have just given him one of the names on the door and been done with it. On second thought, though, what if she ended up putting in a fair amount of work and some other slob got all the credit?!
"Greingoth," she finally said. She opened the gate and walked in, joining the group just in time to hear an explanation of what they were doing. "Charming," she said. Who cared what a lobalug liked to eat?! Just throw the blasted creature in a potion and be done with it. That's all they were good for anyway, right?
"So I...noticed my name wasn't listed on the students allowed inside?" she half-stated, half-asked. She was trying to be serious, but when he was going on about hats [What WAS Hollingberry wearing?!], it was sort of hard to concentrate on the task at hand.
"Greingoth, right, now I remember you." Willy dried his hands on his jeans and marched over to the list of students, scanning it with his finger until he stopped at Sierra's name. "You're NOT supposed to be in here, not really, becuase you didn't agree to treat the animals with kindness and respect."
He peered at her suspiciously. "Why IS that, Miss Greingoth? Do you have some vendetta against creatures that I should be aware of?" Because if so, he was going to BAN her from his area of the grounds FOREVER.
Even IF she had done a good homework. NO EXCUSES.

William was about to go back to playing feeding his lobalug when a little Hufflepuff ran up to him, muttering something about a thestral at the front gate. Front gate??! What was it doing there? Poor thing was probably terrified!
"I'm on it," Willy nodded gruffly, passing the cilpboard to Cece. "Can you keep an eye on things for a bit? I'm sure this is nothing." He smiled charmingly and then jogged off, firstly to get some meat for the thestral and then to see... well to see what was really going on!

Minerva walked into the sanctuary and went over to the tree line to see if she could find any of the billywig. She walked the tree line looking. She had heard of them and knew they could sting so she didn't want to get to close. She was interested in just seeing they looked like. As she walked she took a shovel to pick up any droppings she may come across. She kept her eyes open not to get stung. She looked around hoping to maybe even see their nest.

Quentin was happy she finally had the time to come down to the sanctuary, she loved animals and creatures but she often didn't have time to come see them. Practically skipping down the path she arrived at the sanctuary. Her name had been added to the list, she was allowed in, perfect. It was a little chilly today, but oh well.
She examined the list of things to do, maybe Clabbert's? But there were none to be seen, besides- she'd heard they were scared creatures. Looking over at the cat like creatures she saw no one was near the Kneazle's. They needed attention. Three were dozing in the sun, one was playing in the grass and the rest were out of sight. The creatures were very cat like with large ears and lion like tails, the ones she could see were spotted or flecked. They were gorgeous.
With her decision made she started walking to the cute cat like creatures.

Picking up the shovel, she scooped up the pile and added it to the others in the wheelbarrow, before walking over to the other piles that were littered in the area.
"I sure wish the Professor would allow us to work with the Hippogriffs. I asked him earlier whether we could because I wanted to visit them especially the one I made friends with last year. But he said that he'd rather we stay away from them for now. Maybe I should ask him again, just in case he has changed his mind." Alyssa told Minerva scooping up another pile of poop as she talked.

Ella walked through the sanctuary lugging one of the shovels. Did she really want to pick up droppings? No but the creatures deserved a clean place to live and she wanted to help keep it clean. She decided to make a game of it, seeing how much she could pick up in an hour. She looked down at her wrist watch, noting the time. Alright Ella, ready-set-go. She started walking, in search for some poop to scoop and thinking of how weird it was to make a game out of something like this. She sighed, it might be weird but it was helping her take her mind of things that were stressing her out and that was fine with her.

Alyssa noticed that Minerva had moved to the other side of the Sanctuary, so she decided that she'd just finish picking up the poop on this side. She continued to shovel each patty as she came across them and once her wheelbarrow was full, she picked up it's handles, and wheeled it over to the dung pile, where she tipped it over and emptied the contents.
Then she made her way back to the next section where there was plenty of poops patties to be scooped. 'Whew! The Professor needs to stop feeding them all that good food.'Alyssa thought to herself. 'Good food makes lots of poop....hehehehe...That actuallly rhymes too,'Alyssa laughed to herself and she continued to shovel up each one as she came across them.

Greingoth? No Miss? Boy, this new Care of Magical Creatures professor was a true work of art, eh? Nevertheless, he had the ability to dock points, and she had the ability to lose points, so if you added all that together, it equaled the fact that Sierra needed to keep her mouth shut about certain things.
"Right," she said, knowing she wasn't supposed to be here. She turned around and gestured toward the gate. "I saw my name wasn't on this, and I...waited by the gate and called for you first." So in a sense, she did have permission to be in here now.
Oh. Right. So that was why her name wasn't on permissions list. "Well, I did sign, Professor," she said. "I just felt sort of weird putting all that about Merlin cursing off my toes." She happened to like her toes, thank you very much, and if she just so happened to get a tad upset with a creature, she didn't want to put her limbs on the line. "I want hurt your creatures, though. I promise." Now getting angry at them and wishing she could hurt the--that was a different story.

Alyssa continued to scoop up the poop and dump them into her wheelbarrow until the area she was working was clear of all patties. Lifting up the handles of the wheelbarrow, she wheeled it over to the dung pile, before tipping it over and emptying its contents. She decided that she was done cleaning for the day. She looked around to see whether she could see Minerva anywhere, but when she couldn't spot her decided that she would finish cleaning up and head back to the castle. She removed her gloves and taking her wand out she pointed it at the wheelbarrow and shovel and cleaned it using the Scourgify spell.
She then picked up the shovel, placed it inside the wheelbarrow and pushed both back to the supply shed and placed them inside it. Closing the shed door behind her, Alyssa made her way out of the sanctuary.

Ella headed with her shovel over to where the Augurey's nest was. She still hadn't been able to cheer the poor thing up and Ella did not like to fail at things. She decided it wouldn't hurt for her to oh-I don't know-multitask a bit and scoop up droppings while she told jokes to the bird.
"Hello Augurey, are you in there?" She called cheerfully. Cheer was one of the factors in cheering someone or something up, was it not? "I'm just here-you know, picking up some droppings and thought I'd stop by..." Noting some droppings nearby, Ella scooped them up and continued on, talking all the while. "Augurey, knock knock.." Ella put on a little squeaky voice and answered, "who's there?" Then in her normal voice, "wingardium levio..." and back to squeaky, "wingardium levio-who?" and in her normal voice, "It's wingardium leviosarrrr!" She laughed at this, looking at the nest for some kind of reaction from the bird. Sadly, nothing happened except for her spotting another pile of droppings close by. "Oh come on, I'm not that bad at jokes..." She said, scooping up the droppings.

Vlimia walked into the Sanctuary for the first time, marvelling at all of the wonderful animals. As soon as she was under the first tree, she heard a high-pitched buzzing noise. Looking up, Vlim saw a few fairies fluttering between the leaves. Smiling, she carried on.
When she had reached the herd of puffskeins, she became very quiet. It was easy to scare these. Slowly, Vlim sat down and picked a pink puffskein up. Vlimia petted the puffskein for a while, and soon it started to make a soft humming sound. Soon she was surrounded by puffskeins of all colours, wanting to be petted. Laughing, Vlim tried to keep up with the flock of puffballs. She placed a few on her shoulders, but then found out that was a bad idea. When the puffskeins started to hum, they were a little too close to her ears. Cuddling so many of these adorable things was hard work - but a lot of fun! Vlimia felt like Snow White in that Muggle movie she had once watched with her friend Erma. Except Snow White was with woodland creatures; and Vlimia was with Puffskeins...
Considering that seeing two students walking around the grounds with a bucket was going to attract the attention of meddlers, Treyen had cast one of those Disillusionment Charms to the bucket, failing to notice that the one who taught them that spell was none other than Jared, the former Charms Professor he oh-so-disliked.
Good thing they were taught about it, though.
Still keeping the bucket concealed, the boy wandered inside the Sanctuary and then stopped. The pond. "Do you know where the pond is?" he asked Eve, looking her way. It wasn't his fault if he didn't know where it was, after all, Nifflers spend more time underground than on water.

Amelia already had a few apples in her pocket as she made her way down the grounds and towards the Animal Sanctuary enclosure. She was in the mood to see some of the horses as she missed her own horse at home. Too bad she couldn't actually ride the things though, as she was sure they might not like it. And she might get into trouble as well. She'd just wait for the holidays and spend time with her own horse. For now she'd stick to feeding apples.
Reaching the gate, she noticed a sign and started to read the suggestions. She'd do some of them in time, but for today she would stick with the simple feeding of apples. And she'd avoid some of the more humorous ideas even if they made her chuckle.
She passed through the gate and now headed to where the abraxans were kept. She gasped as she saw how beautiful they were. She loved horses and she loved abraxans. Carefully she reached out and gently petted the head of one of them. It seemed to like it, so she kept doing it. "You're such a beautiful abraxan." Now she offered it an apple.
Evelyn cringed inwardly. Yeah, they had to get this task done as soon as possible, right? She sighed. "Yeah. Sorry. Let's get a move on." Evelyn muttered as she started to walk towards the back of the sanctuary..at least, she hoped she was walking in the right direction.

"You will?" Evelyn asked, with a slight raise of her eyebrows. Oh, well. If he had an excuse that was believable..great. "Good to know."

Evelyn stood near the edge of the pond, trying to spot the lobalug. Oh. There it was. She looked at it for a moment before she heard him ask a question. She turned towards him. Minerva walked the tree line little longer before giving up on seeing anything. So she decided to go and make a fire for the salamanders. She walked to the shed and put the poop and shovel where it needed to go. Then she got all the material she needed for the fire. She walked over to where the other students had done fires. None were going at that time so Minerva was glad she could do something helpful. She set up a good fire place and lit the fire. It felt warm and she smiled. Minerva looked around for the salamanders when she saw one coming over near the fire. She didn't want to scare it away so she didn't try to pet it. She just watched as it warmed itself. Knowing she helped the creatures she decided to head back to the castle and warm herself as well.

Williamson jogged back into the sanctuary and over to the pond, where SIERRA and KURUMI were still hanging out, as well as.... two new students, apparently? The first thing the man noticed was the highly alarming fact that it was a PREFECT standing there with a BUCKET; then his mind registered that they were discussing.... petrifying something??!
"Excuse you," William cleared his throat, crossing his arms and he budged in between Treyen and Evelyn. "But what exactly is it that you're planning on PETRIFYING, children? It had damn well better NOT be one of MY creatures!"
Especially NOT his LOBALUG!!!!!! He glared daggers at the two CHILDREN and huffed a bit.
He would answer Sierra's question once this PRESSING MATTER was taken CARE OF.

OH, NOO. Evelyn stared up at the now really annoyed professor, a look of alarm on her face. Somehow, she had anticipated this. SCABIOR, this is your fault. But...how on earth did Williamson hear their conversation? Were they speaking so loudly? Uhh, no. That wasn't possible.
Evelyn's first reaction was to say the truth but wouldn't that be a little stupid? Ratting out on another professor? "Erm..Professor.." Evelyn started calmly. "We are not doing anything wrong. We were just discussing..you know, about how to tackle a lobalug. We wouldn't even dream of petrifying any of your creatures. That's terrible." She concluded with a confident smile. She just hoped that the professor would accept her explanation..although she thought that was highly unlikely.
Ugh. Evelyn couldn't help but give Trey's back a small glare as she stumbled her way across the grass. Couldn't he be a little more sympathetic?
Huh. She looked a little suspicious when he turned around to smirk at her. She was pretty sure that he didn't really have a plan but hey..he said he would deal with it. Anyway, Scabior did say that there wouldn't be any trouble but it was always better to prepare for eventualities...right?
Oh, yay. "Sounds great, Trey." Evelyn looked excited..okay, maybe a little to excited. Not that she was going to be distracted. Nope.
Evelyn stood near the edge of the pond, trying to spot the lobalug. Oh. There it was. She looked at it for a moment before she heard him ask a question. She turned towards him. Okay. So, not attracting it. Good. He could agree with that. It seemed incredibly logical.
And she agreed with him on the petrifying option...but...why did it feel bad to petrify a creature that had done no harm, plus, it was almost like a fish, and...it'll probably die if it couldn't move at all, right? Right? That's what he was thinking...maybe if he stunned it a liiiittle bit, then it'd be easier to bring into the buck---et.

Treyen shouldn't have asked for advice on how to obtain the lobalug, because CLEARLY he'd distracted Eve from keeping attention on their surroundings.
Sigh. WWW was actually annoying. The HEAD BOY listened to what Eve said, and...he raised an eyebrow at the Magical Creatures Professor. He wanted Saylen back, by the way, she would've given the lobalug to Scabior, and probably kill the History of Magic Professor. All problems solved. As much as he wanted to HATE Scabior for this, he wasn't really feeling like doing so.
"Technically, I wasn't going to petrify any creature in the Sanctuary, I was going through options of dealing with a lobalug," so, really, what Eve said was almost true, "Also, technically, these creatures belong to Hogwarts, so they aren't only yours." Wait, there's probably another technicality he wanted to mention. "It's probably best to stun it, right? Since, petrifying it technically kills its, correct?" and he tilted his head to one side.
See? Nothing going on here.
"I'm merely asking because he needs to go to its rightful owner. I'd hate to see the lobalug dead just because I didn't ask how to deal with it." AND HE SHRUGGED. See? No big deal. Whoever its rightful owner was...wasn't WWW. Had he been its rightful owner, then he'd known better than to keep it in a POND.
