There. Paulie had to admit that he was glad that Louisa had gone because for some reason he felt he could lash out a little better without her presence. Probably because then she couldn't admonish him for it at a later point.
Honestly! This was ridiculous. COMPLETELY. "Stinky slave labor," he reminded, harshly. "And it's not even like that! It's humorous, but it gets the point across at the same time." Yes, he was defending this blasted poster, and he didn't care if it'd take him two seconds to make a new one; that wasn't the point. "Mine is good," he said firmly. "No offense to Louisa's - it sounds real smart and all - but kids won't even look at it. It's boring, verbose, and.." He picked hers up because she must have forgotten to take it. "..'Never heat up the room with romance because it could burn you?' I mean.. really?" Now he was VERY glad that Louisa wasn't in the room, what with all this bashing of her poster and all. Unfortunately, he had to prove a point. Or try.. He pushed his poster back over towards Professor Hadley. "Concise. Funny. Bright. And kids will actually pay attention to it. I'm not making a new one." He sat back a little more and folded his arms because, you know, he had to look adamant and tough and stuff.
He frowned. What question? He debated even saying it, but eventually he did. "I asked if you were in a bad mood when you gave us detention."

Why was he being soooo adamantly stubborn and defensive over his poster? It wasn't like it would take him that long to make a new one, would it? Honestly. Oh THAT'S right - Paulie Foster was a Gryffindor, which explained the arrogance.
Boring and verbose? "That's enough! No need to bash Miss Carter's work of brilliance. Five points from you. And not that yours wasn't brilliant. It was cute." A five year old probably could have understood it. "But I just wasn't sure that you truly understood the point of the detention. But obviously since we seem to be going nowhere..." Except him being persistently stubborn over how his poster was better.
As he sat back with his arms folded, she wondered if he even remembered the question that she hadn't heard apparently. And then he asked it. Oh. "Do you really think I would let my bad moods affect the welfare of the students?" She challenged instead of directly answering. "I only want the best for you. That is all."
In other words, if you have nothing else to add, then she supposed he was done.

His was 'cute'? Oh lordy, gimme a BREAK. Paulie refrained from rolling his eyes, and then.. she docked five more points from Gryffindor?! He opened his mouth, JUST about to retort with a comment about how she must have been jilted by a Gryffindor at some point in her life and was now taking it out on him, but no. Fortunately, he found enough sense to keep himself from costing his house any more points. He already had to earn ten points back this term, he didn't want to be hassled with more.
"And what was the point of the detention, then, if I missed this?" He'd stated his thoughts at the beginning, hadn't he? Now she could explain her reasoning.
Aah. Well. She decided to answer his question.. if that could really be considered an answer. C'mon, he was a teenager! He was a pro at the whole Socratic Method thing, and he knew quite well that answering a question with a question was just another way of being evasive. "Right," he commented, the one word lathered in sarcasm. Yeah right.
It was actually quite bad how moody he'd become now, all because of this stupid poster.
He slipped the tunic thing over his head and dropped it to the table. "So, I'm free?" Free from this dungeon!

Where was patient and calm Eddie when you needed him? But NO, of course, the Astronomy Professor just HAD to keep quiet. "The point, as evidenced by what Louisa put on her poster...." Fina said, drawing her words out, refraining from rolling her eyes as well. "Was that the library is not the place to gossip or be intimate or whatever else it is you were doing there. The library is in fact a place to study." That was all. And it did NOT mean it would result in slave labor.
Before she even properly told him he was free, he had slipped the filthy shirt over his head and asked himself. "I suppose so."
And after the sixth year would have exited, she stayed behind a couple of extra minutes, tidying the room up for when it would be next needed before leaving and locking up behind her.
