SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay Alyssa watched as Professor Lafay suddenly made certain ingredients appear on their work tables. She listened as the Professor identified each ingredient individually before demonstrating what she wanted them to do next in their potions portion of the class. Alyssa then picked up her quilll, and quickly noted the ingredients and the next steps on how to make the potion into her journal. Text Cut: Ingredients for Potion Text Cut: Potions Journal Alyssa took out her mortar, pestle and measuring cup and placed them on the worktable in front of her. She then took out her wand and cleaned them using the "Scourgify" spell. Inspecting them to make sure that they were thoroughly cleaned, Alyssa then picked up the jar containing one pint of the Horklump juice, measured out half a pint of it in her measuring cup before pouring the juice into the mortar. Then she picked up the dropper containing the Flobberworm mucus and dripped its contents into the mortar adding it to the juice. She then delicately picked up the chizpurfle fangs and added them into the mortar. "One, two, three, four, five, six and seven,"she counted them out as she dropped them in. Then she picked up the bottle of billwig sting slime and poured its contents into the mortar. Picking up her pestle, she crushed the Chizpurfle fangs pressing down on each one of them, making sure that they were mixed in well with the other liquids in the mortar. Alyssa continued to crush them until mixture in the mortar started changing color. Once it changed to a bright purplish hue, she stopped crushing and put away her pestle. Alyssa then picked up the mortar and poured the mixture into her cauldron of boiling water. She then picked up the jar of Horklump juice and poured the remaining half pint into her cauldron, adding it to the mixture. Text Cut: Potions Journal Picking up her quill, she then scratched out the steps in her potions journal before sitting back and paying attention to what both Professors were telling them and the answers the other students were providing. |

SPOILER!!: Ingredients and instructions Then, she put down her quill and started making the potion. She put half pint of the juice, slime and mucus in the mortar. She then added the fangs and crushed them carefully till they were well-mixed with the rest of the ingredients, till they turned purple. Then, she added the contents of the mortar to the boiling water in the cauldron. She also added the rest of the juice. She gave a sigh of relief and sat back waiting for the next set of instructions. |

Before she started working with the ingredients, though, she made sure to add them into her journal, along with the steps as they'd been given out by the professor. She was already writing, so it made more sense than to set her quill down and go back to it later. Write everything down while it was fresh in her memory. However, once that was complete, she did set her quill down, sliding her mortar over to herself and pouring half the pint of juice inside, following that with the mucus, fangs and slime. Picking up her pestle after that, she started crushing, keeping a close eye on the mixture and stopping once it was a bright amethyst color and oddly reminiscent of the slime. There was just a lot more of it now, and it was a prettier color. Picking the mortar up, she carefully added the gooey mixture to the water in her cauldron along with the rest of the horklump juice, then glanced toward the professors again. It would be interesting to see what was next. SPOILER!!: Stella's Potions journal |

As the ingredients appeared on the table, Daichi eyed them curiously before looking at Lafay to see what she was doing. The objects glowed as she named them making it easier for them to remember which was which. Grabbing the mortar and placing it next to his cauldron, the Slytherin pointed his phoenix feather wand at it and Scourgified the mortar and pestle. Placing his wand back in his holster, he then picked up the Horklump juice and added half of it together with the Flobberworm mucus , fangs of Chizpurfle and the slime from the billywig in to the mortar. Crushing it fine with the pestle until he had a bright purple shade of goo. Daichi picked up the mortar and added the goo in to the cauldron with boiling water together with the remaining Horklump Juice. He smiled to himself as he checked his potion and began to write down in his note book. Flipping a few pages so that he didn't make notes on the HoM part. SPOILER!!: Daichi's notes |

Kurumi's thoughts about...gum...were distracted when several ingredients appeared in front of her and Professor Lafay began to ramble off brewing instructions in a machine gun fashion. Woah woah woah! Kurumi's hand flew over her parchment as she attempt to keep up with instructions as they were given. When she thought that she had accomplished this, Kurumi set to following instructions, putting half of the juice, mucus, the fangs and the slime in the mortar and crushing the chizpurfle fangs until the contents of her mortar turned bright purple. This step done, Kurumi checked her cauldron to make sure that the water was boiling and then added the rest of the Horklump juice to it before adding the bright goo in her mortar as well. SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment Kurumi paused to look over the list of ingredients and wondered just what it was they were brewing. None of these had been listed in her Advanced Potions textbook for Drought of Living Death, so that wasn't what they were brewing. Tapping her index finger against her lips, Kurumi read over the instructions and ingredients again. Of course, why hadn't she realized it sooner? Her violet eyes glanced back towards Professor Lafay. If they were brewing this potion...then....did that mean... A knot grew in Kurumi's stomach. She didn't like this at all...not one bit. |
Kurumi!!! Quote:
What was going on? What was the woman saying? Toooooo many things and she had not even managed to fill her cauldron with water. Eeeeep. Lea looked down at the ingredients that appeared before her. Could she ask for help? From whom though? She looked around. There was Prefect Kurumi. Ummm...would she help her? She had better try. She seemed to be doing it well anyway. The Potions woman was going too fast that this first year could follow. Still wearing her oh-so-sure-of-herself expression, she approached the lioness prefect slowly and poked her. ''Hey...Kurumi. Kuruuumi. Help me?'' *puppy eyes* Then she indicated her empty cauldron. |
SPOILER!!: Droo Elise nodded as she jotted down the ingredients and instructions into her notebook, blowing her bangs out of her face irritably. Any moment now while she was doing this Professor Scabior'd start talking. Then, the multitasking'd start. Allowing the water to heat itself, she turned towards the ingredients on the table. Scourgifying her mortar, she poured into it half of the juice, 2 drops of flobberworm mucus, the seven fangs and slime. Picking up the pestle, she began to crush the stuff, checking on her water every now and then. Once the goo was a bright purple, Elise stopped crushing. Taking off all the residue on her pestle, she turned to check on the water. Finding it already at a boil, she added the goo and the other half-pint of Horklump juice. |

"These ingredients sound disgusting,'' he thought."But kinda cool.'' He placed half of the Horklump juice into his mortar (after making sure it was clean), then added the mucus, slime and the fangs. Crush...Crush...Crush and gradually the ingredients began to turn purple. After checking to see that the water was boiling in the cauldron, Jory added the purple...stuff into it and then added the rest of the Horklump juice. Finished with this, Jory waited for the rest of the class to finish. |
tehehe! <3 Quote:
Turning her head, she saw that the voice belonged to none other than Lea Carter. Merlin. Kurumi smiled slightly at younger Gryffindor and nodded her head. There really was no need for the puppy dog eyes. Kurumi knew that they were not exactly the most genuine of looks coming from the little lion. So, wand back out, Kurumi pointed it into her cauldron. "Aguamenti." And the first year's cauldron was filled. "Finite." It could be rough being a first year, even for a Carter. Kurumi had had to ask Cam to perform the spell for her back in those days. After having also lit the first year's burner with magic, Kurumi set her parchment on the table between the two of them. She should be able to follow along and copy it down herself, right? "All set," she said with a nod. Hopefully. |
SPOILER!!: Instructions from Lafay SPOILER!!: Kurumi Waaas she going to help? Lea's dark brown eyes stared deep into the lioness prefect's. She needed that help. Heeeeelp!! She very well would understand though if Kurumi would not help her after all the But then...the smile came and at very moment Lea knew that she was going to help. Yay!!! The little girl smiled back at other Gryffindor and carefully watched the progress as she dealt with filling the cauldron and the starting the burner. She needed to learn after all. ''Thank you.'' she said sweetly, at tone that she had never used before while talking to Kurumi. ''Aguamenti spell does not like me.'' All set! Woot. Maybe Kurumi was not so bad at all. Lea gave her another smile before turning back to the ingredients. Now, what had the woman said? She had forgotten them all, of course. But happily and fortunately Kurumi's paper were there. She read it quickly. Hmm...did not look too complicated now. First taking the Horklump Juice, she carefully poured half of it into her mortar and put it back on the desk. She added the Flobberworm Mucus, Chizpurfle Fangs and The Billywig Sting Slime into the mortar one by one. Bleh! Gross stuff. Potions were gross. No matter how gross it was, she began to crush them glancing at Kurumi from time to time assuming that she would say something if she did something wrong. Nothing seemed to be wrong though as the gross thing was turning purple and once it looked like a proper purple to the girl, she poured it into the cauldron. Now the rest of Horklump Juice. She picked it up again and poured it all into the cauldron, as well. |
Laura did as Professor Dragon told her, she was really annoyed with the woman but she needed the points if it wasn't for that she would have made a mess with the potion but well she wasn't going to do it so she did what she was told. |

Playing major catch-up. Uni tried to keep from SS the past 2 day. Quote:
Hmm. Well it seemed even though he was Muggleborn he didn't make stuff up for that story. He knew what he was talking about; although that was probably props to Professor Lafay for teaching him enough to be able to recognize the potion's effects. But he wasn't going to admit that right out. "Professor, coud Leticia have wanted to just put her to sleep instead of kill her in order to ask for a ransom of power or wealth?" A lot of muggle criminals did that, surely it was the same in the Magical World. Quote:
Oh, ok. So they would start brewing a potion too. Auggie pointed his wand at his cauldren and quickly cleaned it with the Scorgify spell before filling it with water. "Aquimenti." Quote:
But now they were getting to work. The Fourth year quickly reached for his mortar and then dumped half of the horklump juice, the 2 drops flobberworm mucus, the fangs and then the slime into it. And just like Lafay had said, after they were all crushed they began to turn purple. The water which he had placed on a small flame before working with the ingrediants was beginning to boil. And when he was done crushing the purple stuff he dumped it in with the rest of the horklump juice. |
MAJOR Catch-up Right so time to actually make a potion... Selina felt like she was going to hurl, which was a usual reaction when it came to potions and performing anything that dealt with potions. So she drew her wand out of the holster and pointed it at her already cleaned cauldron. With a flick of her wand she said, "Aguamenti!" And the cauldron filled with water instantaneously. Once that was done she began to follow the directions She threw the purple thingy into the boiling water along with the rest of the horklump juice. She wiped her hands on her desk and then rose her hand to answer her Professor's question, "Maybe Lectia messed up and dripped it in the wrong potion. I mean, it seems possible." Although, not probable. |

Acting quickly, Sierra put half of the juice, mucus, fangs, and slime in the mortar. Picking us the pestle, she crushed the fangs in the liquid. Pausing, she waited until she saw the bright purple color. She added the mixture and the rest of the juice into the boiling water. Sitting back, she then looked up at Scabior. Did the kneazle get his tongue, or something? |
Hecate watched the kids and was pleased with their progress. She waved her wand again. A sprig of mint, a glass of boom berry juice, one stewed mandrake and a dropper containing 7 drops of honeywater appeared in each table. "Take the mint, rip it in half and toss it in the cauldron. Then finally Take the mandrake in a gloved hand, cover it in the 7 drops of honeywater, then add it to the cauldron." She said demonstrating, and snapped her gun again. |

5 drops or 7 drops?? :) Quote:
Some more items appeared on her table. Following the instructions, Ira took the sprig of mint in her hands and ripped it in half and tossed it in the cauldron. Now came mandrake. She took it carefully with her gloved hands and then picking up the dropper containing honeywater, she put 7 drops of honeywater on mandrake. And then added it all to her cauldron. And then she updated her journal. |
Is that 5 or 7 drops of honeywater? What about the juice? xD SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay Alyssa quickly sat up as Professor Lafay started speaking again as she revealed more ingredients on their table and explained to the class what each of them was. Alyssa quickly picked up her quill and noted down the ingredients in her potions journal. Text Cut: Ingredients for Potion She then watched as the Potions Professor demonstrated what they needed to do next. As she watched, Alyssa quickly noted those steps into her potions journal, making sure that she noted them down correctly. Text Cut: Potions Journal Once demonstration time was done, Alyssa picked up the sprig of mint and tore it in half before adding it to the mixture in her cauldron. Then she dug into her robes pocket and put on her gloves, before picking up the stewed mandrake plant. She laid the mandrake on her worktable before picking up the dropper filled with the drops of honeywater and carefully dripped the 7 drops of honeywater on it making sure that she entirely covered the mandrake with the honeywater. Once she was done, she picked it up and added it into the mixture in her cauldron. She looked at the remaining ingredient left on her table, the glass of boom berry juice. She reviewed the steps that she had written and the Professor had not mentioned anything about using it, so she figured that the glass of boom berry juice would be required later and left the glass where it lay on her table. Alyssa then reviewed her journal to make sure that she had completed the steps as demonstrated earlier by the Professor. Text Cut: Potions Journal She then sat back and waited for either Professor to speak. |
SPOILER!!: Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeea <3 <3 Kurumi wasn't entirely sure how to take the first year's sweet apology. It sounded genuine, and Kurumi really wanted to give the girl the benefit of the doubt. However, she was still very wary about the girl due to what she had tried to do in the animal sanctuary. Taking the necklace from Jonathan by force, or trying to at least. Kurumi had been tempted to go to extreme measures to keep it in her possession, which it thankfully hadn't come to. "You're welcome," she said with a small wink. "You just need some more practice. Until then, feel free to ask me anytime." It was the least she could do as a fellow Gryffindor and prefect after all. Kurumi then returned her attention to her cauldron to make sure that nothing out of the ordinary was happening. That really was the last thing she needed right now. Lafay to get mad at her again. Quote:
Making sure her hands were clean, Kurumi ripped her mint in half and added it to the cauldron, grabbing her gloves and slipping them on to pick up the mandrake with her left hand. Using her right hand, Kurumi grabbed the dropper with the honey water and carefully dropped the seven drops over the mandrake and then added it to the cauldron. Still...knowing what potion they were brewing did not make her feel any less uneasy. Kurumi slipped off her gloves now and picked up her quill to add the latest list of ingredients and steps to her parchment. And Kurumi really wished she would STOP with the gum. It was distracting. SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment |

Laura listened to the Professor carefully. She updated her journal. SPOILER!!: Journal She put down her quill and got ready for the rest of the job. She picked up the mint and carefully ripped it in half. She put it in the cauldron. With her gloved hand, she picked up the mandrake and held it in her hand. She put 7 drops of honeywater in it, so that it is covered. She carefully added it to the cauldron and waited for the next set of instructions. |
Quote:
Once her journal had gotten updated, she reached over and picked up her sprig of mint, tearing it in half and just smelling it for a second before dropping it into her cauldron. Mint wasn't anywhere close to one of her favorite scents, but it was definitely nicer than some other potions ingredients. At least she didn't think any of the most recent ones for this potion were that bad, although she made sure her gloves were on completely before reaching out for the mandrake. At least it's stewed. So we aren't going to have to worry about our ears, she thought idly, carefully balancing it in one hand as she picked up the dropper in her other. delicately holding the dropper over the mandrake, she steadily dripped the honeywater onto it, counting out seven drops and making sure it was coated before dropping the mandrake into her cauldron as well. So far everything seemed deceptively easy, to the point she was starting to worry. SPOILER!!: Stella's Potions journal |
