SPOILER!!: Answers "Right!" He gave her a small nod. Just like with the Muggle story except...better. Quote:

SPOILER!!: Potion And some people even knew the potion as well. Wow. "Good guesses." Or maybe they had read about it. Quote:

"And that's a good theory." He nodded. ------- "Some of you-" He pointed to the students he was sure had mentioned the name of the potion. "-Guessed the exact potion that Leticia did soak the spindle in. The Draught of Living Death." That was correct. He looked over at Hecate for a bit, before turning back to the class. "Others, noticed the flaw in this." He pointed to those two students. "Like I said, Leticia wanted to kill the Princess, so can any idea why she would use this sleeping draught instead?" |
SPOILER!!: zeProf Vickers pondered the next question. It was true, if the hag wanted to kill the Princess wouldnt she have used something more potent and immediate? A curse even? It didnt make any sense to him.... unless "Professor, is it because the hag wanted to kill the Princess slowly? Maybe putting her in a coma-like state was the first step to her twisted plan? Persecute the Princess in her dreams or something? Or.... maybe she wanted to have the Princess' own people to bury her alive." man that was sick. |
Hecate snapped her gum, she stood and started her burner. "In the interest of time, we will be alternating our instruction. (ooc: This means both of us will post) Students, you are required to answer both of us for the full points. (ooc: either in two separate posts or in one quoting each of us.) Be aware that as we won't be assigning homework, this class will be worth 20 points... from each of us, so act accordingly." She then motioned to the class to light their burners. "Begin by filling your cauldrons with water..." She said. |

Why did the hag choose the draught instead of killing the princess? Maybe because 'Death Beauty' wouldn't make a very good fairy tale title? Sierra smirked at her inner answer then raised her hand. "Because if she did away with the princess, she could no longer use her as bait. With the princess in her hands, this hag had the whole kingdom at the tip of her finger," she started. "All she had to do was simply wake her. If she was dead, that'd just be an opportunity lost." Pausing, she realized how harsh her words sounded. "Err, ...at least, that's possibly what the hag might have been thinking..." Not her. She had more decency than that. Trailing off, she glanced up at Lafay. Quote:

Text Cut: Scabior Ira thought about it. Yeah, it would have been much easier for the evil witch, Leticia, was it? It would be easier to kill the princess rather than put her to sleep! SO why did she do that? Then Ira had an idea! She raised her hand up and answered, "Professor, I think that the witch thought that, maybe by putting the princess to sleep for a long time, the princess will turn old, and so will have wrinkles and grey hair, and basically, look old and ugly.." Though all old people weren't ugly, were they? Anyways, she continued, "So that when the princess would wake up, she would go into shock and then die from shame!" Hehe.. that really seemed pretty far-fetched and funny to Ira too.. But then she didn't have any other answer! "And so the evil witch won't be blamed for her murder!" Text Cut: Lafay And then came Lafay's voice. Ah! She had been so quiet until now for some reason! Anyways, now they had to answer his questions as well as prepare the potion? How could they concentrate on making potions whille talking and listening to others talk? Anyways, Ira took her cauldron, and filled it up with water as instructed. But yes, before that she was sure to clean her cauldron by using the Scourgify spell. She certainly didn't want to make any mistake while preparing the potion. |

SPOILER!!: Professor Scabior Alyssa thought for awhile before slowly raising her hand,"Professor I believe that Leticia used the sleeping draught instead because if she had out right poisoned and killed the Princess, everyone would have immediately suspected that she was responsible for her death and she would have been arrested within minutes of the discovery. By making the Princess sleep until she died, no one would be the wiser and by the time they did, she would have been far away from the Kingdom and harder to catch." SPOILER!!: Professor Lafay Just as she had finished giving her answer, Alyssa saw Professor Lafay motion to them to light their burners and heard her tell them to fill their cauldrons with water. Lighting the burner at her workstation and adjusting the heat of the fire manually, Alyssa then took out her cauldron. She unholstered her wand and cleaned the cauldron by saying,"Scourgify". Then she examined the cauldron to make sure that it had been thoroughly cleaned and that it was in good condition, before she pointed her wand inside the cauldron again and said, "Aguamenti" filling it up with water. Once the cauldron was filled, Alyssa ended the spell by saying,"Finite. She then took out her quill and wrote down the steps in her potions journal. Text Cut: Potions Journal Then she sat back and waited to hear what other questions Professor Scabior was going to ask, and at the same time, paid attention and listened for further instructions from Professor Lafay. |

After Jory listened to the instructions, he got out his wand. ''Scourgify!" he said to clean his cauldron. When this was done he filled it with water. ''Aguamenti,'' he said and water flowed fro the tip of his wand. "Finite'' and the water stopped. |

Text Cut: Professor Scabior Stella just decided she really didn't like Leticia Somnolens. Poisoning innocent young princesses with Draught of Living Death for who knew what reason. Plus, she just wasn't comfortable with the topic in the first place, and the fact she'd thought of that potion back when they'd still been talking about the fairy tale. It was definitely not a potion she'd ever really thought about wanting to learn, especially considering they usually had to test their potions on somebody. It might have been easy for Leticia the Hag to sentence someone to that fate, but she couldn't. Not even if they were also brewing the antidote. Which, actually, gave her an idea, along with some of the other answers that had been given, and she'd raised her hand tentatively. "Perhaps Leticia knew she was the only one who was proficient enough to brew the potion and identify the results. If she assumed that nobody would be able to brew the antidote correctly, or even realize that was what had been used, the princess was basically as good as dead. She could control the situation, and obviously she wasn't going to confess what she'd done or used, so the princess would just stay asleep for who knew how long. Leticia could just wait long enough, and then bring her back and convince her her family abandoned her or something. I'd think that would be wrose than death." Text Cut: Professor Lafay Just the idea of having that much control over a person was vile to her, but she hadn't not participated in any of the Potions lessons yet. She wasn't starting now, even if she was fairly certain she would decline to test it once it was finished. House points or not, she wasn't going to sentence anyone to basically a coma. She turned to look at Professor Lafay as they'd been instructed to begin, however. Just starting the potion wasn't bad, and she knew it was supposed to be an advanced potion. So even if she didn't follow through and test it, it would be a method of checking if her skills were really that much better than she'd thought a term ago. Removing her wand from its holster, she Scourgified her cauldron a couple times just to be safe, checking to make sure it was definitely spotless. She wasn't going to fail this early, and she knew that was always the unsaid first step in brewing by now. Once that was complete, though, she used her wand to light the burner underneath her cauldron before shifting to point the wand inside her cauldron. "Aguamenti," she cast, ending the charm as soon as her cauldron was full of water and sliding her wand gently back into its holster for now. It was still ready, but not in the way while she worked on her journal. Even though she had to add a bit of her feelings on the matter into it as well. SPOILER!!: Stella's Potions journal |

She has started to think that this Leticia hag had been really stupid. Using that Draught of Living Death? Really? ''That potion. Lame.'' The little Gryffindor murmured. Yes, that was what she thought of the diea; lame. There were so many way effective means to attempt to kill someone. ''Hags does not have all the magical skills wizards do professor. So maybe she wanted to kill the princess by dark magic so it would be easier but she was unable to use better magic for that. So she just brew this potion and hoped the getting old or starving would kill her.'' Quote:
It surprised Lea a bit when she heard the woman's voice as she kinda had forgotten that she was in the class. All of her attention had been on the man...until now. Hmm...20 points from each was not bad at all. No homework sounded good. Turning around quickly, the little girl stared at the woman for a moment before lighting the burner before her. Then she took her wand and pointed it into the cauldron just like everyone did. ''Aguamenti'' Just that she failed to produce water. She scoffed. |

After answering Professor Scabior's question, Tayla made sure her cauldron was clean then pointed her wand inside it and said, "Aguamenti." Her cauldron filled with water. |
A sudden question struck the badger, ignoring her soaked robes, Glenn raised her hand, "So the Draught of Living Death is kinda like being in a coma, isn't it?" She thought to the slumbering bodies of muggles in the hospitals and she blurted out, not even raising her hand this time, "It couldn't be used as a form of muggle-baiting, could it?" That would be horrible is that was what some terrible people did. |
Text Cut: Prof. Scabior Laura put her hand up. 'Maybe because the use of the potion wasn't as punishable as killing the princess..maybe she was scared that she might be caught...and she just wanted the princess's life ruined,' she said Text Cut: Prof Lafay Wow!!! 20 points...Laura would love to earn that many points for her house. Laura took her wand and pointed it to the cauldron. She made sure it was clean. 'Aguamenti,' she said and water filled her cauldron. |
SPOILER!!: Scabior Ella thought this was a hard question. If one wanted someone dead, they wouldn't just put them to sleep... "Professor, maybe Leticia used the potion because she wanted to keep the family and friends suffering...I mean if the princess had died they could grieve her and move on but it must of been hard knowing she was in a sleep so deep it was like death and stuck that way." SPOILER!!: Potions Prof Ella lit her burner and then pulled her cauldron towards her, making sure to clean it before filling it. She raised her wand, pointing it into the cauldron. "Aguamenti!" |

Professor Lafay's warning about not going easy on her just because of her situation rang strongly in her ears, but Kurumi was going to have a hard time keeping up now that it was clear that they were going to have to multitask their way through the rest of the lesson. Ridiculous. Kurumi was less than pleased, but she began getting her station set up and removed her wand from her pocket. "Scourgify...Aguamenti..." Were they even told which potion they were going to brew? The Gryffindor wasn't even going to be able to take proper notes. "Finite." |
Quote:
"PRofessor, could Leticia perhaps have thought that it would be awful to actually kill the princess since her soul wont be whole or she would of felt bad." She shrugged, "Or maybe it was too cause more suffering." Quote:

SPOILER!!: Kaos.Doodles Elise smiled a little as she scribbled down the notes. Draught of Living Death, spindle soaked. Silly princess pricked her finger. Now, why didn't she poison the princess instead of making her sleep. Raising her hand, she smiled. "Maybe the hag thought that by causing the princess to sleep, she would have the whole kingdom under her control because she could revive the princess whenever she wanted. But if she'd killed the princess, everyone'd just cry and move on." SPOILER!!: Droo Blinking, she set her cauldron up while still jotting down a few of her classmates answers. Now they had to multitask. Elise could do this! If she could study while the tv was on at home, this was nothing. So.. 20 points. Each Professor. That was a nice number that she wanted for Ravenclaw. So, twirling her wand in her left hand, she pointed it into the cauldron. "Aguamenti," she muttered and waited until the water reached the desired level. "Finite," she mumbled and stuffed the wand back into her pocket. Starting the burner, she turned her attention back to Professor Scabior. |

He tried to keep his interest at the subject but every now and then his eyelids fell close and he had to rub them to keep awake. Were they ever going to do something? Professor Lafay wouldn't be here if they weren't right? Quote:
When Lafay instructed the class to fill their cauldrons with water, Daichi snapped his note book shut and went to a cauldron. Grabbing his wand , he pointed it at the inside and said "Scourgify!" to clean it. He then lit his burner and placed the cauldron on top of it. "Aguamenti!" Daichi watched the faster flowing than in the beginning of the year water charm fill the empty cauldron and with a "Finite!" he lowered his wand. |

Annabelle heard the professor and got out her cauldron. She filled it up with water but first she cleaned it up first. "Scourgify!" she said then she began to fill the water into the cauldron. "Aquamenti!" she said and waited further instructions from the potions professor. Quote:

Hecate snapped her gum again, and waving her wand she make certain ingredient appear on everyone's table. "Before you, you have, one pint of Horklump juice," and as she named them they glowed, "a dropper with 2 drops of Flobberworm Mucus, Seven Chizpurfle fangs and a billywig sting slime." She said. "Put half of the juice, mucus, the fangs and the slime in the mortar. Crush the fangs in the liquids. This will turn a bright purple. Add the purple... goo... and the rest of the horklump juice to the boiling water." She demonstrated. |

Text Cut: Professor Lafay After lighting her burner, Ira followed Professor Lafay's instructions. The names sure did sound weird and diverse. Ira decided that writing them down first in her journal would be a better idea. So taking out her potions journal, on a new page, she wrote the ingredients listed till now, and the steps. Once she was sure that she had copied down everything correctly, Ira began preparing the potion. Taking a clean mortar and pestle, she put half a pint of Horklump juice, and then added half of the juice, mucus, the fangs and the slime in it. Then crushing it, she watched as it slowly turned purple. So that meant that she was right till now. Then she added the purple goo into the boiling water in her cauldron. Wait, had Professor Lafay herself said 'goo'? Hehe! |
