Laura looked at the Professor and smiled. "It's about a princess that slept for like 1,000 years or there about, only to be woken by a prince and she still looked the same." Laura rolled her eyes. "Why it had to be a prince and why he didn't run a mile because she should have been ancient." Laura thought Professor Lafay and Vindictus was ancient but well this women should have been older than them. "I have no idea." Laura finished of the story. |
Ella was confused. Were they really discussing Sleeping Beauty in this lesson? Not that she minded. It brought her back to nightmare nights when her mother read her many fairytales, that one included. After hearing the Gryffindor Prefect's answer, Ella simply nodded. That was what she would have said too. |
Alyssa has heard the tale of Sleeping Beauty. It was one of her favorite stories written by the Brothers Grimm. She would have raised her hand to answer, but since the other students knew the story too and had already provided the answer. Instead of repeating what the others had said, she just kept her hand down and listened as the others spoke. Then she remembered something. So she raised her hand. "Professor, I know that this has nothing to do with the spinning wheel but didn't the castle get covered up by trees, thorn bushes and brambles to protect the castle. That must also have been enchanted too right because the moment the Prince came, didn't they part and give him access to the Princess?" |
Amelia blinked as a muggle fairytale was brought up. It had to be a Muggle one, because she had never heard of it before. Sighing, she remained quiet for this question as well. The other people in the class were answering anyway. |
As all the students finished cramming into the space provided for them in the Divination tower, August continued to eye the spinning wheel that was centered by Professor Scabior and Professor Lafay. He was wondering if this lesson they would have to spin some yarn or something else he didn't know how to do. Then Scabior asked them if anyone knew what the contraption was. He did of course, and the fourth year raised his hand to answer but before he could do so, the man had already taken other answers and then moved on, brining up the topic of Sleeping Beauty. He knew the basics of the story... "Sir, my mom always read that story to my little sister. A king and queen had a daughter and were showing her off to the kingdom at a party where people gave gifts when an evil sorceress showed up and put a spell on the princess that she will prick her finger on the needle of a spinning wheel when she is older and will die." He took a breath and tried to remember what happened next. "Then later on, one of the three of her fiary godmothers, put a 'good' spell on her to put her asleep to keep her from doing that thing that would kill her later. After much time a Prince comes and kisses her to wake her up and he killed the evil witch. And I think that's it." Yeah...his mother had told it better. |
No more than a few minutes into the class Vickers was already scribbling furiously on his parchment, taking note of the discussions. He had heard about the Muggle tale of Sleeping Beauty, but knew only of little details he came across in his readings-- that there was a princess who slept for a hundred years to be woken up by a prince's kiss. that was all he knew about it. He didnt know that the princess was meant to die or sleep or whatnot with a device like the spinning wheel. His knowledge of it was less fantastical-- it was one of the devices that marked Muggle progress towards industrial and technological revolution. He stayed quiet, his eyes drifting from the wooden wheel to the burners that sat on the table, eyes finally resting on the covered cauldron. Why hadnt he noticed those before? He turned his head back towards his parchment and scribbled some more |
Nerida's hand shot in the air just because she was a pureblood didnt mean she didnt know about the muggle fairy tales! Sleeping Beauty is about a King and Queen who had a daughter named Aurora but this Evil Fairy named Malificent appeared at her party and cast a curse on her, when she is 16 she will prick her finger on a spinde..Which is that...and she will die. There were three fairys already at the party, two had already bestowed Aurora with gifts, the last fairy's gift changed the curse, instead of dieing she would fall into a deep sleep. Once Auora pricked her finger, the fairies cast a spell that would make all the people of the kingdom fall into a deep sleep and only awaken when Auora was awoken by true love's kiss. Which did happen...After a hundred of years... |
This took forever to type on my cell. :S Quote:
Text Cut: Kaos.Doodles Sierra had never even heard the tale. Muggle stories weren't exactly told around the Greingoth residence when she was younger. They weren't even told now, actually. She listened to her classmates then finally raised her hand. "I've never heard the tale, but let me get this straight. So some witch put a poison at the end of the wheel, and then some girl touched it and fell victim to the poison," she recalled. "Finally, some wizard ended up putting the antidote on his lips and woke up the girl?" That settled it. Sleeping Beauty was a Hufflepuff. |

---------- "So most of you have heard of the story. And for those who haven't....some of your classmates just told it." And if you still didn't know, it wasn't his fault that your ears weren't cleaned out. "Now, this Muggle tale, was actually taken from Wizard history....around the Medieval time period." So it actually happened, yes. "But there were no faeries or any of that....added garbage." No. Because faeries didn't help with anything, they were nuisances. "I guess you could say that the bad guy in this very true story, was a Hag by the name of Leticia Somnolens." He took a second, and waited for them to write this name down. It might be important later down the road. "She was jealous of a princess and so she used a spinning wheel-more specially the spindle, in an attempted to kill her. Any guesses how she would use the spindle to try and kill the Princess?" Hint, it was very similar to the Muggle stolen tale. |
Amelia listened to her classmates curiously, still confused about what this story had to do with anything until Professor Scabior explained how it related with something that had happened in the Wizarding world. She wrote down the name of the Hag in her notebook and underlined it. "Did she poison the spindle with a Potion? Instead of a curse? So... she'd be poisoned when she was pricked?"she said after raising her hand. This was a total wild guess here, because she still wasn't familiar with this story really even if she had picked up the gist of what other people had said. |

Alyssa had heard about Leticia what's her name somewhere and what she did. So she raised her hand and answered,"Professor was she the one that poisoned the spindle of the spinning wheel with the Draught of Living Death and then tricked the princess into pricking her finger on it." |
SPOILER!!: Professor So a very similar story had really taken place! Ira quickly scribbled the details as much as she could, and then thought about it. In what way would a witch kill with a spinning wheel? Ira raised her hand up and was about to answer something, when already three others had answered. So she thought that it would be better keeping quiet. No use in repeating the same answers, right? |
Kurumi thought for a moment. Potions wasn't her best subject, so she didn't really want to venture a guess as to what potion had been used - she presumed that would be revealed later if the one already being thrown out there wasn't the true potion. Shrugging, Kurumi raised her hand to venture a guess. "Perhaps, Leticia Somnolens dipped the spindle into the potion, soaked it? Then, by pricking her finger on it it, the potion entered her body and blood stream.. Might have made it look more like an accident this way, as opposed to putting it in her drink." That logic was a little wonky, and she knew it, but potion theory was...Jonathan's strong suit, not hers. |

Jory didn't need the Professor to stand his ground. And he certainly had no intention of taking orders from anyone. Unless it was necessary, of course. Concentrating back on the lesson, he raised his hand to answer. "She most likely used a potion and smeared it on the needle and then it took effect after the Princess pricked her finger.'' |
Text Cut: Kaos.Doodles Sierra paused... ...then blinked. Now she was confused. Didn't the professor just say she'd gotten the real version of the story. So then...what was this? She raised her hand then lowered it again, unsure of what to say. Then Hollingberry piped in and said the same thing Sierra had just said. Cheater. Raising her hand again, Sierra said, "Is it similar to what I just said? That there was a poison at the tip of the spindle, and the girl was oblivious enough to touch it?" Again, what a Puffer. So trusting. "Draught of Living Death sounds good to me." She nodded a gesture toward the classmates who'd spoken up and suggested that. ...and did he just suggest to some boy that men would one day listen to commands from women?! That's what she heard, at least. |
Wah? This had really occured? That was quite the shocker. The first year took a minute to soak that in before reaching for her notebook. Ella copied down the new information that the Professor had just given the class and then raised her hand. "Professor, I also think the spindle could have been poisened by the sleeping potion, Draught of Living Death...but if that woman wanted her dead, like really dead, wouldn't she use a different technique?" |

August crossed his arms and looked at Scabior with a questioning look. Did Muggles really steal this story or did the magical community steal it from them? It would be impossible to know both sides seeing as the Muggle world didn't know there was a magical one. Instead of retorting, the Gryffindor just took notes and listened. Raising his hand, Auggie decided to go along with it all and answer how he thought the Leticia hag-woman did it. "Professor, I sounds as if she laced the needle with a potion of sorts, probably something along the lines of the Draught of Living Death. This would explain the deep sleep." And the reason they were in a joint lesson with Potions and History of Magic. |

Laura smiled as she answered the next question. "Professor she probably thought about using it to cut of the Princesses head but then decided that would be too messy and so she just decided to put poison on the needle and then lure the Princess there and then let the princess prick herself with the needle." That was all Laura was going to say. |
Right, so the story was true. But was that actually the spindle used to kill the princess? Not that it mattered of course, what mattered now was trying to remember what her mother'd said to her about that princess person. Raising her hand, she phrased the answer before saying it aloud. "The story says that poison was placed on the spindle, so it would probably be a potion." she smiled. It was the only way potions could tie in here anyway. "It could have ben the drought of living death." Yeah. That. Elise wasn't good at History but fingers crossed she'd gotten it right. |

That man had just smiled at him, had not he?!!! Perhaps, he was not so bad at all. Cool people knew how to smile. And it seemed this man knew it as well. Slytherins were not capable of smiling if you asked to the dark haired little girl so in her mind this man was getting a better place. Not to mention that he was handsome when he smiled. Hehe. She smirked back at him and just stared. She did not think that she needed to go and tell the whole story while the class was already full of book eaters like Prefect Kurumi. Quote:

And now look at this one. Lea gave the Hufflepuff boy a belittling look. Hah! It was true that she did not like that behaviour of refusing to obey her but she was not going to bother about it anyway. She only eyed him carefully to remember his face well later and turned to the other side in order not to see him for the time being. She was going to torture him later. Poor boys. Yes, boys. This Hufflepuff for not obeying her and the professor for saying that. It made Lea smirk though for she knew sooner or later everyone would be obeying her. Especially boys. Quote:
Taking a large piece of parchment and a quill, Lea dipped the quill in ink and quickly take notes of those information that were new to her. It was an interesting story. ''Maybe it is not being stolen or taken from either side, professor.'' she said ''Perhaps people from both muggle and wizarding worlds saw it happen and they told it with their own views.'' Yup, did not that make sense? Whatever... Quietly she listened to everyone's answer. Draught of Living Death. She snorted. ''Did not this hag lady attempt to kill her? I think the needle might be cursed with DARK MAGIC!!! Draught of Living Death do not kill even though it has the word 'death' in it.'' |
Quote:
She smirked up to the other professor... all that garbage. That was putting it lightly. There was a a host of little fairies in pastel colours, and creatures helping the princess or dancing with her... and really, who was stupid enough to touch something because some old lady, and a hag at that, told her to? |
