Joint Lesson 3: HoM & Potions History Of Magic and Potions http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...98/spindle.jpg As you walk to the Divination tower, a trap door in the ceiling comes down. As it makes its descent, carpeted steps magically appeared. A railing also materialized. The professors led their classes up the steps, to the tallest point in the divination tower and stood by an odd looking wheel like thing. Was it muggle? Was it wizard? Was it just so old no one had ever seen it? In the small room were tables with burners on them, and chairs for the students to sit. One cauldron sat at the opposite end of the room, covered, and a second was open and empty. Hecate sat on the bench around it, and motioned to the other professor, that the floor was his. |
Ella's eyes grew wide as the trap door in the ceiling came down right in front of them. She looked around at the other students, wondering if they were as nervous as she was about this. It all seemed quite creepy to the small first year. Following the potions professor, Ella walked up the steps and stared at the lone spinning wheel. She recognized the tool from a fairy tale her mother had told her when she was a small child. She wondered what it was doing there. Then she spotted the tables and chairs. The badger headed towards an empty seat and waited quietly, wondering what would happen next. |
After making the trek from the lowest point of the school to one of the highest, following Professor Lafay, the group came to the base of the classroom. Gideon made his way up the last series of stairs and looked around the room for added clues to what the class would be. That clue came in the form of Professor Scabior as the potions mistress turned the lesson over to him as they filed in. "Good day professor," he said our of politeness, the Gryfindor taking his place at one of the set workstations while he quietly awaited him to speak and begin. |
Seriously, Professors Lafay and Scabior had to pick the old Divination Tower to do their joint lesson in AFTER the Gryffindor had walked all the way down from the seventh floor to the dungeons once?! Auggie had a feeling they were wanting to walk him to death. The fourth year climbed up through the trapdoor and into the classroom with the Potions students. When he entered he stared at the weird spin-wheel type thing and then slowly took a seat waiting to be told what on earth this class could be about. |
Amelia honestly had no idea what to think of all this as she made her way up the stairs to the classroom. She had no idea why there would be a joint lesson between these two subjects unless it had to do with the history of different potions or something. This was... weird. :/ When she noticed a weird looking wheel thing, she was confused. She had no idea what that was, but imaging it to be muggle. Bizarre that something like that would be here at Hogwarts. Deciding to shake it off, she headed towards a free table and sat down. |
Vickers lined up with the others and climbed the steps towards the Divination tower. To him, it wasnt that far fetched for HOM to hold a class around this place, but Potions? Unless Lafay wanted them to come up with their own concoction of tea . When he has cleared the entrance his eyes fell immediately on the odd contraption in the middle of the room "A Spinning Wheel?" he mumbled under his breath. Err so they were cooking in Muggle Studies, which he thought was a bit strange, so now they're sewing in Potions and HOM? Why is he getting the strange, creepy feeling of being domesticated? |
*leaves it vague since she was in both classrooms prior to the move* Walking up to the Divination tower with a look of utter confusion on her face trying to think of the subject could be connected to Divination but also wondering how Thereos would be making his way up the stairs in the first place - which told her that they were not having a joint lesson with Divination but another subject, Kurumi entered the room and had all her questions put to rest. Bowing to both professors, Kurumi's attention fell on the spinning wheel in the room. Spinning wheel? Were they going to turn straw into gold like in the fairy tale? Which made her think of something else that could turn base metals into gold, but Kurumi kept these thoughts to herself as she took a seat and hugged her bag to her chest, waiting for what she was sure was about to be her worst nightmare. A joint lesson with the dragon and the hit wizard. |
Nate walked all the way up from the dungeons to the very top of hogwarts towers. Really! Once he entered though he was even more mad. Other then the fancy stairs, but still. All it was is a dusty old room with a spinning wheel, some chairs, some desks, and cauldrons. That was so not worth the walk. So he just sat down, and said "Good day." to the other history of magic professor. |
Alyssa climbed the steps of the tower following behind the other students. She entered the area and noticed both Professor's Lafay and Scabior waiting for them. She noticed twp cauldrons at the other end of the room. One was covered while the other was open and empty. She took a seat at one of the tables and tried to figure out what the wheel-like looking contraption, she had seen on entering the classroom, was. |
Seriously, walking from the dungeons to reach the Divination tower was very exhausted. Raven just hoped her terrible headache didn't come back again, though she looked quiet pale. She took a deep breath first when she had arrived at the divination towers. She thought for a while. Did she really want to join this class? Raven had no interest in History of Magic, but yeah.. She's quiet enthusiast in potions. She didn't know if Zhenya would join this class too because she didn't like Scabior. Seems like someone told her to join her last class in this term. Or maybe her last class in Hogwarts too? Since her family were messed up, she didn't know if she still continued her third year or not. But she hope she could back. Hogwarts was her second home. She decided to enter the classroom. "Good day, Professor." She greeted both of the Slytherin Professor and took a seat at the corner. |
Hmm.. well was it safe to say they would be staying here for the lesson? Kimalia took that as a yes as she saw Professor Lafay rest herself on a bench. And this was after the long walk up the stairway. That was okay though, she was use to the long walks, that was what Hogwarts was all about. Well, what a sight.. Kimalia noticed the odd wheel-thingy other than the cauldrons and usual furnishing for a Potions class. And so she sat down and waited for the instructions. |
Nerida's leg ached, why were there so many stairs, why did it have to be the old divination tower. She wondered if they would be moving somewhere else, Professor Lafay answered her question when she sat down. Nerida looked over at the old object in the room, she thought it was called a spinning wheel or a spindle, or maybe it was something else. She took her seat waiting for class to begin. |
Jory was surprised to see a wheel in the the room. It looked familiar and as he want to take a seat he racked his brains trying to remember where he'd probably seen one. It was a few minutes before he remembered. I t looked like the wheel usually illustrated in the Muggle fairy tale Rumpelstiltskin that was used to spin straw into gold. |
As they'd been instructed to follow Professor Lafay, Stella had quietly picked up her things and done so, immensely curious about their destination. Talia had told her about the Divination tower ages ago, but she hadn't had a chance to see it what with their lessons having been on the ground floor due to Professor Thereos. Therefore, this lesson, while confusing by way of why they weren't having class down in the Potions classroom like normal, was also just intriguing because she'd get to see somewhere in the castle she hadn't been able to investigate before. As such, she'd found herself just looking around for a moment as the trapdoor had opened and she'd climbed the steps, not really sure what to expect. She definitely hadn't expected a spinning wheel, though she spent a moment silently thanking her father's family for giving her the ability to even know what that was. Shaking that surprise off, she made her way to an open table not far from Vickers' and took a seat, giving Professor Scabior a smile as she sat down. She didn't want to interrupt, since the lesson likely was going to just start right away, but she didn't want to not greet him somehow. Burners meant they were still going to be brewing something, but the combination of the spinning wheel and Professor Scabior being there piqued her curiosity even more than their location did. It was all very fairy-tale-like, honestly. She just didn't know if she was the trapped princess or someone else. |
Tayla walked up the carpeted steps and looked around. Professor Lafay stood beside an old spinning wheel with...something on it. Tayla shrugged as she felt goosebumps on her arms. She looked away from the spinning wheel thing and took a seat near the two other Gryffindors who had arrived before her. |
Elsie followed Professor Lafay to the tower a little grumpily. And why had she told them that AFTER the Ravenclaws went down 7 flights of stairs. Now, she had to go back up all over again. And her legs ached. Smiling a hello at Professor Scabior, Elise found a seat and stared quite obviously at the spinning thingy. Wheelie? Whatever. Elise was tired. |
Ira looked up as a trap door opened from the ceiling. So now they had to climb all the way up? Merlins! Huffing a little, Ira followed the others to the Divination tower. Seriously, climbing seven floors was itself exhausting! Especially after she had just come all the way down from the Gryffindor room to the dungeons! Coming inside the old Divination tower, she was sort of surprised to see the bareness of the room. She greeted Professor Scabior, "Good Day Professor!" Then she flopped down on an empty seat.. |
Seriously? Evelyn was a little curious as to why they didn't have class in the potions classroom like usual but she was a more grumpy than curious. Did they have to go all the way up to the Divination classroom? Couldn't Lafay have their class somewhere else? Like on the ground floor or something? Finally, she entered the classroom and...stopped. She saw a spinning wheel..like she'd read in the muggle fairy tales as a kid. Interesting. And..Scabby. Why was he here? Anyway, greeting him a polite nod, she made her way to an empty seat and sat down. |
Laura walked into the classroom and almost walked out, she didn't like the look of this lesson but she had promised she would try and gain points, and she was going to gain the 10 points Professor Laura was glad when she saw Professor |
Silvia made the climb into the divination tower, physically exhausted from the long trek. What could they possibly be doing in class today that would require them to move here? And why was there one of those spinning wheels? She moved to take a seat towards the front. |
Hades being one of the last in the line isn't too pleased waiting too long after literally dragging a heavy bag up to the seventh floor. He might be an athlete, but he doesn't like carrying heavy stuffs up the staircases. Nuh-uh! Students by students enter the room and finally, it was his turn. The sight of an old, ancient looking thing caught his attention. He stares at it for a moment. Oh, dear! It can't be! Does this mean Potions is combined with History of Magic? All of subjects, why is it always his favourite subjects to combine with the subject he particularly dislikes? First the Care of Magical Creatures. Now, Potions? The boy really wanted to do the what muggles call it the "otl" position right here right now. |
Daichi felt a little bad for the students that were in Gryffindor and Ravenclaw that they had to walk up the stairs again when they had just gotten there. It was times like these that Daichi was happy being a Slytherin because he only needed to go up once and go down once instead of twice~ As the trap door leading to the divination tower opened up, Daichi followed behind the other students and climbed his way upstairs. Once upstairs in the classroom he immediately saw a weird looking device on the floor. The Slytherin scratched the back of his head and wondered what it was. He figured he would find out soon enough when class started so he refrained from asking either one of the Professors. Wondering why the two most scary Professors were doing a joint lesson, Daichi took a seat and kept glancing at the odd device. He had seen a cauldron so many times now it became normal....but that thing...Was this why Scabior had been so upbeat downstairs? That they were joining forces |
Ah. He started, right. Scabior leaned against one of the walls as he watched the last of the students pile in. "So, in History of Magic this term, we've spent some time looking at important locations important to Hogwarts' history. This-" He waved his arm around the tower. "-place isn't exactly important to Hogwarts history but it is important. Any ideas why?" Anything at all really. For this one time, he would even accept stupid answers. |
Belle was out of breath when she reached the divination tower. It felt hot and muggy in the room. "Jeez out of all places, why does it have to be in this hot room." Belle asked quietly. She was used to the potions classroom being so cold and comfortable. She then noticed a contraption that look out of place in the room. "Oooh that looks like something from a fairy tale and i can't put my finger on it." Belle thought. She found an empty seat next to the hufflepuffs and other people from her potions class. She waited to hear instructions from the professor. She also noticed as she looked around, the class was a bit bigger than usual. Belle then heard the proffesor's question. "Hmm maybe this room was a safe haven of some sort?" Belle asked timidly. It looked well protected and no one could really find them up here if they didn't look hard enough. |
Ella wrinkled her forehead in concentration, trying to think why this particular location might be important. Raising her hand, the first year began to speak. "Professor, perhaps this room was a hiding place of some kind?" The idea didn't seem too far fetched, considering the trap door and all. |
