The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.
Its like a hundred times Messer looking towards the empty plate in front of him. Where's the food? He was hungry for Merlin's sake. He could hear his stomach making another growl. Ugh!
Then he looked up when an older looking boy accidentally bumped into a younger girl who happen to sit not far away from where he's sitting. First there's a screaming girl who refused to be a Huffie then there's another boy who threw the silverware because he wanted to be a Slytherin and now a clumsy older boy. But at least he's not screaming or throwing things. "Are you okay?" he asked the girl. "Maybe you should be more careful when you walk, sir." Messer told the boy.
SIR?!
Lewis just stared at the younger boy for a moment and actually looked behind him to see if he was actually talking to him. It seemed that he was. "I..." He bit his lip nervously, looking back and forth between the boy and the girl next to him a couple of times. Maybe this would all just go away if he waited long enough.
...
Since nothing had changed, Lewis realized that he should probably say something after all. Only what. "I-I didn't see her." Then towards the girl he added quickly, "You. I didn't see you." Obviously. He wasn't a rowdy or something after all. "I'm sorry." He finished quietly, looking at both of them briefly before glancing back at a very interesting dent in the table.

"You can tell me whatever you want to tell me Ame. I am always here for you."
From his spot a the Huffie table, Jory could see many familiar faces. The Great Hall was filled with chattering and laughter. "It's great to be back here,'' Jory thought happily forgetting for a moment that he had a headache which he hoped would subside soon.
Jory reached for some potato salad and sausages, piled his plate and began to eat.
"Hey Oscar,I'm Jory," the Huffie replied to the boy opposite to him.
Oscar smiled when a boy introduced himself to him. He was glad to see that at least someone would talk to him, Oscar was new here and he needed to make some friends. 'So... what year are you in?' Oscar asked carefully, not exactly the best way to make conversation.. But he'd never needed to make awkward conversation to make friends, all his friends had just been there from the start of his life.. Maybe home schooling wasn't as great as he'd thought it been.

"I'm in se..I mean third year." it would take her a while getting used to saying third instead of second. She couldn't believe she was already in her third year, this meant that she just had fourth year left and then she would start with her owls. "I'm guessing your a first year." It wasn't a question,it was a statement seeing as it was almost too obvious that this little boy was a firstie.
There was a stomach growl again, but this time it wasn't hers. Nessie giggled as she realized it was Messer's stomach that was growling. It seemed to be that she wasn't the only one wanting the food to come. "You hungry too?" she asked the little firstbie.
Still no food eh? Nessie sighed. What excuse would the elves have this time? Couldn't they use their brains and know that most of the kids were probably starving. She bit her lip as she continued to watch the sorting. It wasn't that exciting to her anymore. It wasn't like there was anyone that she knew that was getting sorted. Either way she had nothing better to do that contnue watching.
It was when she saw an older looking boy, that her stomach started rumbling once more. It wouldn't shush, ever since she had arrived at Hogwarts it just kept on rumbling and growling. She blushed a little from embarrassment and then smiled at the boy as he sat near by. "Oscar..hmm...nice name." she said keeping her dashing smile. It felt good to smile for a change. "Im Nessie." and with that she extended her hand to him for a shake.
Oscar tried not to laugh at the loooud stomach growls coming from a girl nearby. He grinned awkwardly at her as his stomach too started to grumble. Oscar laughed to himself, slightly blushing. 'Thank you,' he smiled, maybe Hufflepuff wasn't that bad after all, those he'd met so far seemed nice enough. Maybe even his dad knew that and wouldn't mind the Hufflepuff-ness. 'Nice to meet you, Nessie.' He said and shook her hand while his stomach grumbled once more.

'Hi, yes, I think we met on the train ride.' He nodded politely. 'Ehm... I was home schooled. Until now.' He sighed, he'd love to be home with his brothers and EVEN his sister right now. Hufflepuff. It was a nice word. Huff-le-puff! See? A very nice word! And everyone seemed so friendly, judging by the way people were greeting other people. And there were so many smiles around the place. It made him happy!
If only Anya had been sorted into this house as well. But he wasn't going to complain about that. She could be in that red house. He was now closer to the kitchens and food, according to that book. She was the one missing out now.
Alec continued walking until he reached a fairly empty spot on the table. He squished himself into it and looked around. Now that the Sorting nerves were gone, he could finally see how big it was! Sheesh! Was it always this huge?And... when was the food getting here? He was starving!
Oh look! Wasn't that girl... familiar? Yes, she was! If Alec remembered clearly, it was that girl he had met on the train. The one who was crying. But then he remembered her getting happier afterwards. Yes, it was that same girl.
Alec stood up and wandered over towards... what was her name? It began with an 'A' hadn't it? Amy? No. Anna? No. Al... It was Al-something. ALYSSA! That's it! Alec grinned as he squishes himself down on the empty seat next to her. "Hey train buddy!" he said, giving the girl a single wave of his hand, "Looks like we're in the same house now!"
And then this happened.
Alec blinked. Was that Adeline? Adeline Holiday? The same girl he had met in the ice cream store down Diagon Alley? And then again on the platform? And then again on the train corridor. Man, that was an awkward meet-up.
Oh right. The girl had wanted to be in Ravenclaw and now... here she was. In Hufflepuff. Well, it wasn't so bad! Everyone was nice! And that's exactly what she had wanted hadn't she? She wanted to be around nice, friendly people. How much nicer can it get than the house she had been sorted into?
But Alec wasn't going to say this to the girl. Instead, he ruffled up his hair slightly and grinned at the girl. "Turns out you do have friends in Hufflepuff..." Yes, that was his way of greeting her.
Hearing someone introduce themselves to anyone and everyone made Alec turn his head. He looked at the boy carefully. Wasn't this the same boy who had been sorted alongside him? Yes? He distinctly remembered the boy being sorted and Alec wondering how someone so tall can be an eleven year old.
Alec grinned at the boy as he walked up to him and sat down in a seat opposite him. The boy seemed nice. But then again, he was in the nicest house there is. "Hey!" he said, "Nice to meet you Oscar. I'm Alec, Alec Summers."
Alec sat there, getting slightly bored. True, he wasn't around some of his old friends or his bestest friend in the entire world... but there were plenty of people he could meet right here. New friends. People he had never met ever before. Only problem was... he didn't know who to say hi to.
Alec's grey-blue eyes searched around until... they rested on a girl sitting on her own. She seemed a bit older than him, unless she was one of those people who looked older than they actually are. Either way, he was going to pluck up the courage and go up to her.
So, the eleven year old stood up and walked over towards the girl. He sat down opposite her and smiled. Yes, she could be in his year but just look older. "Hey!" he said, giving the girl a single wave, "Erm, i'm Alec, Alec Summers."
Alec blinked again. There was another person who didn't seem to like that manky old hat's decision. Weird. He had thought everyone wanted to be in this house. Maybe people just needed some time to adjust. Either way, it was wrong wrong wrong to be shouting off about it here.
But he was going to show this boy that it wasn't so bad to be a... badger? Did Hufflepuffs turn into badgers at night? And the other houses turned into their own animals as well? But he didn't want to turn into a badger! He wanted to be a normal human boy!
Alec ruffled his hair before walking up to the boy. He recognised him from the Sorting Ceremony. He had just got Sorted alongside him, hadn't he? He did look young enough to have been sorted right now. "Hey, it's not so bad being a badger," he said, smiling at the boy, "We're all nice people here!" Yes. Everyone had been nice to him here already.
Oscar looked to his other side to see a small boy staring looking at him. He smiled awkwardly. Oscar knew him to be a First year, they'd been sorted at the same time, right? He'd have to keep track of who everyone was, Oscar thought to himself worriedly, why couldn't he just be with his friends and family who he'd know ALL his life? There'd be no awkward introductions then, just fun.
Oscar relaxed a little when the boy grinned at him and sat down opposite him and finally introduced himself as Alec Summers. 'Hi there.' He smiled, so far everyone was nice. 'Nice to meet you too.'
He was definitely ready for food now, mum's, anyone's food!

'Oh, yeah, that's right,' Daisy smiled. So Oscar was home-schooled, that made sense. Well no, it didn't. Who would be home-schooled when you could go to Hogwarts. But then, it was up to him and his parents.
'Really?' she said, 'another third year Hufflepuff, well, you've got a bit of catching up to do, meeting people and teachers,' she laughed slightly, helping herself to some salad and dumping ketchup on it at the same time. 'I'll show you round if you like, and sit with you in lessons,' she nodded, smiling. 'So, what made you come to Hogwarts now?'

She recognised the boy a little, probably from the train or the platform.
He sat down in an empty spot nearby Daisy, who had picked a spot not close to anyone in particular, but that was filled up quickly. She leaned over and grinned to the new arrival, whose face reminded her of her own cousins a little.
'Hey,' she smiled, fork still in mid-air, 'welcome to Hufflepuff, the best house,' she laughed, holding out her free hand, 'I'm Daisy Tucker.'

Jessie turned from Sophie and looked down the long Hufflepuff table; her Hufflepuff table. She saw some of the older students deep in conversations with their friends, the first years who looked a little nervous, some looked like they didn't like the sorting hat's decision. She hoped they would soon learn to like it here, like she had. Yellow wasn't her favorite color; it clashed horribly with her ginger hair, but she liked Hufflepuff nonetheless. Her reverie brought a smile to her face. She was home!

Glenn had another fit of giggles. She was almost sure that older students were looking at them funny, "Of course, of course. Madam, do you suppose that there shall be any tea at this marvellous feast?" She also put on a heavy English accent, mimicking sipping a cup of tea.
Glenn laughed again at Sophie, her new first-year friend, "Wouldn't it be hilarious if that nickname stuck?"
"Well, I hope not, I just hate tea with a passion." she said with her eyes closed and pompous face, even though the sentence was not pompous at all. She then opened one of her eyes and looked at Glenn. Right after that she busted out laughing. She didn't care if other people were staring. "It would be quite fun if the name stuck!" Sophie said still laughing. She was having so much fun she could hardly remember she was hungry.

Minnie probably wasn't the best person to ask, because of what happened between the Hufflepuff and Rose, but she hoped that Minnie wasn't including Lilly in it.
Amethyst looked up. Oh, it was Lilly. She smiled and hugged her. She was quite the hugger today. She didn't really know Lilly or Violet for that matter, but she still was a helper. "I'm sorry, but I haven't seen her." She scanned the room for the girl's sister, but she was no where in site. "Have you tried the other tables?"

Harvey smiled as he saw Lilly come and ask about Violet.. well only the other Puff girls might know that.. so he stayed quiet.. and Ame spoke to him before she went to Lilly.. and he smiled that Ame agreed with him..

SPOILER!!: Oscar!

Alec smiled back at the boy. He definitely seemed older. Unless he was like the other girl who had an older person face but was actually a firstie like him. He could be exactly like that. But his smile mean that he wasn't about to shout him down. Good.
"So you excited about Hogwarts?" he asked, smiling at the boy. He was new so there had to be something he was excited about. As for Alec... he needed to think about how to say what he was excited about without sounding... weird.

She hoped they would soon learn to like it here, like she had. Yellow wasn't her favorite color; it clashed horribly with her ginger hair, but she liked Hufflepuff nonetheless. Her reverie brought a smile to her face. She was home!
Seeing someone else approach the table, Alec turned to look at the new girl. He recognised her as well from the sorting. And she seemed small enough to be a first year like him. Maybe. How many new people were there?
Alec smiled as he stood up and walked over towards the new girl. She was smiling! That was a very good sign! He sat down opposite the girl, smiling back at her. "Hey!" he said, giving the girl a single wave, "I'm Alec, Alec Summers." He held out his hand for the girl to shake.

Alec was officially confused. Why was Adeline being like this? She had been so nice before and now... she was acting as if he had done something to her. He hadn't! Last time he checked, he had just been nice. That's all. Nothing more. What more did she want?
"Don't apologise! I like talking to you," See? He was being NICE! "The only way she can know is if she has spies here at Hogwarts," he said, "Or if you tell her. You're not going to tell her that i'm talking to you, are you?" Because that would be very mean on Adeline's part.
SPOILER!!: Keefer!

"Haha, yeah I am. And thank you! Do you know anything about Quidditch?" Maybe he was a Muggleborn and had no clue. Or maybe he just didn't know much about sport.
Alec smiled at the boy as he eyed the badge again. It was really shiny! He didn't understand how people on the other end of the Hall didn't see Keefer's badge. But the Hall was big. Massive, even!
But Keefer was talking so Alec was going to pay attention. "I know it's a sport..." That's all he knew, really. "I just heard about it a couple of weeks ago. How long have you been playing?" The boy might be very experienced and could just tell him everything he needed to know about Quidditch.

"Hey, Alec! I'm Jessie Weasley!" She thought he looked familiar so he was probably a first year like her. "This is my new friend, Sophie! Do you like Hufflepuff as much as we do?"
That was slightly...random. A hug? Okayy. Lilly barely even knew Amethyst. She hugged the girl back. "It's alright," she smiled. "I don't see why she'd be at the Slytherin or Ravenclaw, but I'll try anyway. Thanks," Lilly said, standing up to scan the Ravenclaw table. Who did they know in Ravenclaw except Harvey? Or Slytherin? Oh, Ashly. That's where Violet was. She was proud to be single.
Autumn walked past the hufflepuff table looking at all there beaming faces, huffle puff seems a kind house, Autumn smiled she wanted to get to know some people from other hosues but didnt want to just stop and sit down, she brushed her hair out of her pretty face.
