The glittering night sky is clear and visible through the enchanted ceiling, and the floating candles bedeck the entire hall in a warm golden light. All seems well with the world, aside from the empty plates still waiting for food to appear.

Seeing someone else approach the table, Alec turned to look at the new girl. He recognised her as well from the sorting. And she seemed small enough to be a first year like him. Maybe. How many new people were there?
Alec smiled as he stood up and walked over towards the new girl. She was smiling! That was a very good sign! He sat down opposite the girl, smiling back at her. "Hey!" he said, giving the girl a single wave, "I'm Alec, Alec Summers." He held out his hand for the girl to shake.
Alec was officially confused. Why was Adeline being like this? She had been so nice before and now... she was acting as if he had done something to her. He hadn't! Last time he checked, he had just been nice. That's all. Nothing more. What more did she want?
"Don't apologise! I like talking to you," See? He was being NICE! "The only way she can know is if she has spies here at Hogwarts," he said, "Or if you tell her. You're not going to tell her that i'm talking to you, are you?" Because that would be very mean on Adeline's part.
Alec smiled at the boy as he eyed the badge again. It was really shiny! He didn't understand how people on the other end of the Hall didn't see Keefer's badge. But the Hall was big. Massive, even!
But Keefer was talking so Alec was going to pay attention. "I know it's a sport..." That's all he knew, really. "I just heard about it a couple of weeks ago. How long have you been playing?" The boy might be very experienced and could just tell him everything he needed to know about Quidditch.
Alyssa was glad to see that Alec and Adeline were getting along and that Alec was interested in playing Quidditch. 'Keefer is definitely having fun explaining the game. He must be glad that there are so many new students who are interested in trying out. We may actually have a chance at winning the cup this year,' Alyssa thought to herself.

The smirk on the boys face only served to agitate him even more. It didn't see what was so amusing. Maybe it was the fact that he was so short. He could fix that.
Tye pushed the students sitting on the bench apart and stood on it, now he was almost level with Treyen's face. Yeah this was better.
"If I'm not ready, it just means I'm not ready to go over there yet." He looked over at the Slytherin table and sighed. Why didn't the stupid old hat just place him there in the first place?
He finally noticed the badge on the boy's chest and smiled a little. Aha! Now that they were almost eye level he had to listen to him and take him to get resorted.
"Sure sure, you didn't want to...but see, you're a head boy, which means they'll have to listen to you. Take me to get resorted." He hopped off the bench and grabbed Treyen's hand and started tugging on it. Move it move it.
"Thats a funny name." He tilted his head and looked at him. "My name is Tye. Just Tye." He finished with a curt nod.

Alyssa had seen her doing it to oh no who else would have seen her banging her spoon. "Oh Alyssa it's ok, I can wait for the food. I am a little hungry, but I do weird things when my anxiety takes over I had forgotten the medicine in my trunk, but just handed me the extra my mom had given her to hold. Mom knows me to well. So what was everyone talking about?" She couldn't believe she had no clue what was going on around her for a bit.
Ella looked around, surprised that someone was speaking to her. Come on El, don't be a dope. Say something. "Hi Sophie! I'm Ella. Thanks for the welcome!" Ella smiled, this girl seemed really nice and she was happy to have someone to talk to. "How was your train ride to Hogwarts?"
"Nice to meet you, Ella!" Sophie replied. "Well, I have to say it was quite interesting. A looong trip, but an interesting one. I was finally able to try out some spells with my wand, and that's what I have always wanted to do!" she was really excited that she could use magic whenever she wanted to here at Hogwarts. "What about yours?"
'Oh, yeah, that's right,' Daisy smiled. So Oscar was home-schooled, that made sense. Well no, it didn't. Who would be home-schooled when you could go to Hogwarts. But then, it was up to him and his parents.
'Really?' she said, 'another third year Hufflepuff, well, you've got a bit of catching up to do, meeting people and teachers,' she laughed slightly, helping herself to some salad and dumping ketchup on it at the same time. 'I'll show you round if you like, and sit with you in lessons,' she nodded, smiling. 'So, what made you come to Hogwarts now?'
Oscar seemed slightly alarmed, catching up? But his mother had taught him everything he needed to know, he'd had his wand since he was 11. Everything had been just like it was at Hogwarts, or how he thought it was supposed to go.. 'Catching up? How so?' He stared at her salad, that looked... horrible.
He decided it was best not to mention the ketchup salad, and instead listened to her tell him she could show Oscar around and even sit next to her. Hufflepuff was looking better all the time.
'Thank you!' He took a sip of pumpkin juice and smiled. His smile faltered when Daisy asked why he had decided to come to Hogwarts now. 'Eh... My mother has to go take care of my grandfather.' Oscar stared at his pumpkin juice, hoping he wouldn't have to talk about this anymore.

Oscar frowned, he wasn't sure whether he was excited about Hogwarts. His dad had told him it was great, but that had been in Slytherin.. What if Hufflepuff was awful?! Oscar would probably be a lot happier at home. Meeting all these new people was sort of exciting, right? But still.. hooooome! 'I.. I'm not sure.' Oscar decided, he'd have to wait and see, right? Harvey watched as Ame pulled out an extra bag for Minnie that Victoria had given to Ame.. then Ame shocked him by pullung out some Hufflepuff robes for him.. and said that he belonged in Hufflepuff, Harvey beamed at Ame... but was not sure about taking the robes.. after all he was a Ravenclaw.. "Thank you Ame.. for the robes.. but as much as I would LOVE to join Hufflepuff and be with all of you and my sweetie Minnie here.. I dont think I can accept them being a Ravenclaw.. but I can accept them as a gift but its a little early for my birthday present.. " he said to her as he took the robes... imagine him wearing these robes and wooing Minnie.. but she was his already and he was a Ravenclaw.. so he kept the robes with him.. he smiled when she said that she would love to play the spoon game.. Then Minnie said thanks to him .. and as much as she liked the shoulder she also liked the hand for support too.. and with that she took his hand in hers.. sending electrical currents down his spine.. wow what an effect she had on him.. she then apologised for the spoon game she had been playing "Its ok.. I dont mind what game you play as long as it helps you" he said to her as she took the bag from Ame and took the medication.. he moved himself a little closer knowing that she may need to drop onto his shoulder soon.. then Alyssa came and joined them again... all around him were yellow robes and he was in blue.. but he had yellow robes that a friend had gifted him.. and now he was loving all his Hufflepuff friends..

Then Alyssa arrived after making her rounds, which she should probably do. Eh, she only knew Hufflepuffs except for Sarah Oliver and Harvey Watson. She had been owled that Sarah wasn't coming this term, which was sad in itself. Sarah was her first friend last year. "Hello, Alyssa! No need for sorries!" She giggled, smiling. "Everything is perfect, Alyssa!" Except Minerva, who was expected to have her few mishaps. "Now, don't you kids know we don't until after the Start of Term Speech?" She giggled.

Amethyst giggled, smiling. "Well, I hope you feel better soon, Kiddo!" She went back to her original seat and leaned against Justin, who was quite quiet. But at least she felt at ease and her jealousy rate had shoot down a whole lot.

Amethyst nodded smiling. "I totally understand, Harvey." She giggled. He was TOTALLY a Hufflepuff, but she was proud of him for standing up for his own house, Ravenclaw. Minerva and Justin were more on the Ravenclaw side, too. But not Amethyst. She was a Slytherpuff.

Ella thought back to her trip on the train and smiled. "Mine was pretty interesting too! Saw some familiar faces and got some reading done. I'm really interested in Quidditch and I've been reading all about it!" Ella felt herself getting excited. She could picture herself zooming around on a broom, earning points for her house team. "I'm still getting used to using my wand. Haven't really tried out any spells yet. Did your spells work?" Ella was fascinated, especially since she was too afraid to try spells on the train. She had the feeling she might blow something up. She smiled at the thought.

Alec looked at the people this new boy was talking to. Some girl... Adeline? And some new, older boy. He ruffled his hair and turned back to this... boy. "So? Forget about... them," he said, giving the boy a smile, "Some of us are nice."

You can do it this time," he said, patting the boy in the back. Right. Awkward. Got it. "Sometimes you just need to lose to win." Like his kite flying competitions with Anya.
Alec grinned. This boy was nice. Really. "But if you're good enough to be Captain... you're good," He didn't really have anything else he needed to say. Alec smiled some more at Keefer's offer. Trying out for the team though... "If i understand Quidditch properly..." Should he say it? "Then i guess trying out for the team wouldn't be so bad." Especially if Keefer was there. "Thank you! I appreciate the offer," Girls? WHAT?! Alec let out a small chuckle. "You won't hear about girls from me anytime soon." Girls were... okay. He just didn't think of them in that adult way.

He smiled at Ame "Thanks Ame" he said to her.. as he listened to all his friends talk while supporting Minnie's head..

Justin looked on as Ame and Minnie went on talking. It was good that things were starting to fall into place with his three best friends. He had a smile on his face as Alyssa rejoined them. " Hey , Lyssie. Mind if I have a chip? Would you like to sit next to me? " he asked as he slid over closer to Ame to make room for her.
Finally someone who understood what he was going through. He scooted a tiny bit closer to her and the disdainful look on his face lessoned considerably. Who would have thought a girl could get it?
"Well then maybe you should follow me to the staff table. I'm going to ask them to change my house." He said confidently. They had no reason to say no after all.
Adeline was glad that someone had understood what she was trying to say out loud to all the older kids. She didn't have to explain it to anyone. It was so much easier.

That must have been a dumb question on her part because she noticed a confused or a weird look. It had to be the question that she asked. She was going to tell him to not answer that but it didn't work out to well because she wasn't fast enough. Dang it all! Adeline shrugged. "I'm not used to having any friends." she reminded him. "How should I know. Why do you talk to a lot of peopleAnya?" She asked him.
Adeline sighed she knew that it would fall back on her mother. It sucked that it did but oh well. Her mother wasn't here right now and she had to take advantage of it and talk to Alec for as long as she could. "My mother likes to be in control of a lot of things like my younger brother and I." she told him. "I don't think she plans on having anymore children so she likes to control us because she already screwed up my older brother and sister." Adeline half smiled.
Adeline just hugged him for as long as she could and she didn't want to be interrupted but she needed to let go of him sometime soon. Adeline held on for a couple for seconds and let go. She noticed that he was looking up at the ceiling and she looked to see what he was looking at and it wasn't really a ceiling it was the night sky. But there had to be something up there to protect the students and teachers form the rain and snow. It must be a charm or some kind of spell. Then Adeline looked at Alec, her face turned a bright redish pink color. "Sorry." she told him.

Twisted wasn't quite the word, but this worried Amy. And Sammy rarely worried Amy this much.

Nicki ran up to a ranom girl at the hufflepuff table she heard they were nice and she huged her and said "i know we havent met but we can be best friends" and then nicki ran back to the ravenclaw table.
Elliot merely smirked. She took an unused glass of water and took a sip. She was so thirsty this evening!
"Yes! Oh, Pem, you must be excited, too! How is seeing Hogwarts for the first time?" She asked, trying to be nice to her. Afterall, she got sorted into hufflepuff...such a tragedy. She glanced around the Great Hall trying to ignore that PERSON at the Ravenclaw table. Stupid, stupid Jayden .
Pem shrugged her shoulders. "It's great." She said, Though it'd be better if you left me alone. she thought. "It's living up to what I've imagined." She added on, just to clarify how pleased she was.
Reaching for a dinner roll, Pem looked at the people she was sitting near in hope of forming an escape plan for that moment. It was then that Pem's hand landed in a pile of butter instead of the bowl of rolls. "Ahh." Pem sighed as she grimmaced. Good job Pem. she thought as she retracted her hand from the butter and began to wipe it off.

A pair of very familiar violet eyes took a scan around the Great Hall. Was this really happening? Was it really fourth year already? For Merlin's sake where did the time go?! It honestly felt as though it were only yesterday that Miss Violet Le Veela had ever set foot in the Great Hall. And it was very hard to believe that it was only three years ago. Violet took a breath before heading over towards her House table of yellow and black. When she had arrived at the table Violet gave her bright smile and a warm greeting to all of those she knew, and a friendly greeting towards those she didn't know, which were mainly the first years.
After that had been accomplished Violet took a seat and adjusted her robe and then smiled again completely happy being back at Hogwarts. What was she going to experience this year? For last year had been such an unforgettable experience for the young girl, an experience that she would prefer to experience ever again. Just the thought made Violet upset and she quickly tried not to think about her very traumatic break up with Christopher.
The young girl then began playing with her brown hair, yes it was still charmed chocolate brown; for now of course; for she was always twirled her hair when she was nervous. Violet then began to think about Elektra? It had been over several months since she heard from her best friend. And it had only been a few month since Selina had told her about Elektra in her vision. Which also made Violet even more worried, because neither Violet nor Selina knew if their best friend was alright or not. Was she alive? Did anyone even help her? Where is she now? Would they ever hear from her again? Was Elektra...de....dea..
Violet quickly shook her head of such a thought and then realized that people were probably wondering why was this girl so deep in thought right now. She then blinked a few times and then reached for her goblet of Nettle Tea taking a sip. Violet took a breath and let it out slowly and then put on her bright smile once again. Never letting those around her know about the pain she was trying so desperately to keep hidden.

Minerva was enjoying feeling more relaxed and no panic. She still was holding Harvey's hand. "I know it will be late when we get out of here, but tomorrow let's sit by the lake. It will be nice to get some fresh air." Minerva yawned a bit while talking. She glanced at the staff table to see if the speech would start soon.

Perhaps he could distract his intense hunger by conversing with others at the the table. Oakey found a girl, who had just been sorted into their wonderful house. Hey there Oakey said introducing himself. It seems my smiles are contagious around here He joked to the new girl, Oakey liked to think that all smiles started with him. How're you liking Hufflepuff so far?
He paused and thought just for a few seconds, he had forgotten to do something, OH,RIGHT! he realized out loud. I'm Oakey, Oakey Richard Gunter.
It took Sophie a couple of seconds to realize the loud boy was talking to her. "Oh, hello!" she said a bit surprised. She laughed at his statement. "Apparently most people around here like smiling a lot!" she, too, smiled while saying that. "It's one of the facts I'm linking most about Hufflepuff, actually! And of course, everybody seems to be really nice!" she remembered her mum telling her that this was one of the best qualities of a Hufflepuff. She felt warm inside by that thought. "Well, hello, Oakey Richard Gunter. I'm Sophie Delilah Campbell!" she said holding a laughter. "Nice to meet you!"
