Ahh, the good ole Hufflepuff table. Alex really had missed it over the holiday--he wasn't sure WHY exactly, since it wasn't exactly comfortable to sit at and he didn't have any super fond memories of the feasts or anything, but nonetheless it was comforting to see a piece of his home away from home. He smiled happily to himself as he took a seat with the rest of his housemates. He noticed that he was just a seat or two away from Treyen and he smiled at the older boy. "Hey Treyen...WHOA?! Head Boy?!" he exclaimed suddenly when he realized that he had a BIG AND SHINY new BADGE on his robes. "Congrats mate!" he added with a grin. WOOOT! A Head Boy who was a Huffie! That was SURE to be a sign of a good year to come, yes?
Seeing that Treyen was already talking to a few people and not wanting to interrupt completely, he happily started to look around at all the new faces. Hopefully they got a really good bunch this year, he was really hoping they could get at least ONE of the cups this term...his eyes drifted over the other tables and landed at the Slytherin table. He sat up straighter and tried to see if he could find Sierra amongst the chaos and give her a wave... |
It didn't matter how much Treyen grew over the summer, he will never match Alex's height....oh, no, WAIT! They finally saw eye to eye! AWESOME! He was reminded of the first time they met. And Mia wasn't here to make any comments on how Treyen finally matched Alex's height.
"Yeah." Head Boy. That was starting to sound...absolutely terrifying. Especially hearing it from Alex's voice, since Treyen had once thought that Alex was older than him.
This is the kind of people Hufflepuff needed, because as soon as the 'congrats' were said Treyen felt in a better mood. His smile did widen,
"Thanks. Hope you don't get in trouble, Alex." Because he'd hate to be the one having to lecture
this particular Greingoth.

Oh, so it wasn't because he hadn't being paying attention the whole time he's been at Hogwarts with the current Quidditch Captain. That made him feel slightly better about this.
"Arya likes Abraxans." That didn't mean he didn't. But she liked animals much more than he did.
Scotland, eh?
"And you travel to London to head back to Scotland?" Yes, to Treyen, that had been the most important bit of everything Keefer had said. Go figure.

Arya looked at Treyen, then the girl, and rolled her eyes at the explanations he gave her as to why she didn't belong. Honestly, he was being so un-Hufflepuff right now by not welcoming her the proper way, but he was also proving a very good point that kept her from giving him looks for trying to scare away the little girl. "Don't let Treyen discourage you," She looked to the firstie with a kind expression. "Just because you don't display Puff qualities right now, doesn't mean you won't ever. They tend to show when you least expect them." Though clearly they wouldn't be showing right now. Not with Treyen feeding her belief that she didn't belong.
Was she gonna have to have a TALK with him about this bluntnes of his and how the ickly babies might not get it? Hm. |
Oh, no, no. He was NOT trying to discourage the first year. NOT AT ALL. Arya was getting this all wrong.
"Haven't you heard her? I don't think she'd want to discover any of our qualities in her." Honestly, Arya. Tsk. This is what happens when the one in charge of first years isn't at the table at the right time.
"I'm fine with it, really. If she doesn't want to belong, then she doesn't belong. No big deal." And, yes, Arya, he was being completely serious about this.

I never read about Hufflepuff because I couldn't find the right information that I wanted to find." Adeline half smiled. "Then why are you trying to welcome me here?" she asked him. She knew that people were trying to welcome her but she didn't know what to do because she wasn't used to it. "I'm sorry." she told him as a frown appeared on her face. "I'm not used to being welcomed into anything." she told him. "Nice to meet you Treyen." she told him sticking her hand out for him to shake. |
Too late. Had she mentioned the Muggleborn bit at first, then he'd sat and explained a whole bunch of things. He loved Muggleborns. Like Conan. It's too bad Conan wasn't here right now...the boy who didn't believe in magic...and yet Treyen had wanted him to.
Seemed like he should do the same with this girl. But he didn't.
He shrugged.
"You should've asked." Seriously. No excuses. Plus, THAT WAS ANOTHER REASON FOR NOT BEING A HUFFLEPUFF! Hufflepuffs are good finders, and she couldn't find any information on the one house that was now hers? Not cool.
"Hufflepuffs are good finders too." He said, smirking again. There. He said the other reason as well.
Ah! But she was mistaken.
"I'm not. However, as Head Boy, I still have the obligation to welcome you to Hogwarts." True, and very mean of him. He almost sounded as Evelyn. Not that he knew, for he rarely listened to whatever she had to say.
And...oh. She wasn't used to...oh. Okay, well, he was more than embarrassed now...,
"Oh, well, that makes sense." Kind of.
His smile changed into a small but sweet one.
"I hope it's nice to meet you." He shook her hand...but he planned on keeping an eye out for this one.
