From the study tables, Janice had moved to her dormitory, mainly because her seat's getting hot, but she needs a quieter environment as well. After reversing the oversized-abnormal frame with the spell "Reverto", she laid down the paper on top of her bed and sat behind it. She decided that she will give another try.

"Statua Habitum!"

It worked this time! The frame's now about half an inch thick, the spirals have shaped perfectly, and the green dots were shaded with light green. She grinned, and started thinking on who she would give the frames to.

Ella smiled, she thought that HOM would probably be her worst subject. At school in the muggle world, Ella was quite bored with history lessons. Perhaps learning about wizard history would be different. When Charlotte asked about homework, Ella nodded unenthusiastically. "Yeah, there is a lot of it isn't there?" She really was feeling the stress from the work load despite some of the assignments being really fun. "How about you? Have you been keeping up with everything?"

Laura sat down on her bed, she was glad no one was around since she was starting to feel homesick, her twin sister just didn't seem to want to know her or well she was hiding somewhere and her friends in Hufflepuff just seem to have disappeared, maybe Sophie had decided she didn't want to be friends with her because she was losing points for Hufflepuff, even though Laura hadn't actually lost many points though she had been in trouble a bit.

Laura sat on the bed and decided that she was going to do some reading, she went into her bag and took out a book but with it came out a photo of her and her sister messing about at home just before they had come to Hogwarts, they were very close then but now well Laura wasn't sure anymore.

Ella smiled at Charlotte, happy to offer her help in that subject. "I'm a muggle born so I could help you out if you needed it! I don't know what you'd need to know but I'm around if you want a study buddy."

Sophie entered the first years' dorm and saw a few of her friends there. "Hey guys!" she said waving and smiling at them. She noticed she didn't know one of the girls yet. Weird, it had been a while since they were all at Hogwarts! "She might be a shy one." Sophie thought to herself. "Hello there, I'm Sophie!" she said looking right at the girl and waving again.

Looking around, she saw that Laura was sitting quietly on her bed. Really weird! Laura was not a quiet girl, was she? Sophie walked in her direction slowly. "Are you okay there, Laura?"

Laura almost jumped out of her skin when Sophie spoke to her, she had been lost in her thought and hadn't even seen Sophie come into the Girls Doritory. "Hi Sophie, I'm fine." Laura gave a small smile. "I was just thinking about a few things that was all. "How have you been?"

Ella smiled when she heard Sophie's voice. She waved back and greeted her happily. "Hey Sophie! What's up?" Noting that Sophie didn't know Charlotte, she decided to introduce her. "Sophie, this is Charlotte! We were just talking about our favorite and least favorite classes so far! I trust you've been enjoying them?" Noticing Laura, Ella frowned. How could she not have noticed the other girl come into the room? She felt like a jerk for not saying hello.

Ella looked at Laura, wanting to apologize or something for not acknowledging her presence. "Hey Laura, sorry we didn't see you come in earlier. We were pretty excited discussing our classes and such." She hoped Laura didn't think her and Charlotte were mean. Not that she had hung out with Laura much but all puffs should stick together. "What are your favorite classes so far?"

Sophie didn't think Laura was fine as she had said, but... "I'm good too! Running like crazy to finish all of our homework in time!" She was glad she had managed to do all of them so far. She hoped she could keep this up until the end of the term. "Are you being able to keep up with all of it? Need any help?"

Sophie turned around again to look at Ella. "Nothing much! Just finished some homework!" And she still had about 2 or 3 to go, so yeah... "What about you?"

"Hi, Charlotte! Nice to meet you!" Smiling at the other girl, Sophie waved once more. "How are you liking Hogwarts so far? It's awesome, isn't it??"

Ella frowned thinking about all the homework that they had. "Pretty much the same. The homework is really piling up huh?" She had gotten a lot done but still had some reading to do. "How do you guys feel about ancient runes?" She asked, looking at the girls. "It's not my favorite."

Sophie shook her head. "I don't know anything about it! I was completely lost in the first class..." She hoped she could catch up with the class, even if this meant she had to *sigh* read the textbook. "I'm loving Herbology, Charms and Transfiguration though!" These were definitely her favorite! "I don't know anything about the theory part of Arithmancy either." The math part was perfectly clear to her though. "Are you taking Muggle Studies? I haven't done this homework yet..." And she was supposed to hand in in a few days!

Minerva walked into the dorm. She was tired and yawned as she walked towards the second year rooms. Once she was in her bed she laid down and took out a piece of parchment and began to write. She needed to write two letters one to her parents and the other to a special person.

Ella laughed, happy to know she wasn't the only one completely lost in that class. "I don't know anything either! I felt like a fool!" She shrugged her shoulders knowing she'd just have to work harder in that subject. "I love herbology and flying the best so far! Well except for the whole squirrel thing. That was freaky!" She laughed, remembering how those little critters flew at her from all angles. "I'm not taking muggle studies only because well, I'm muggle born so I decided against it." She couldn't imagine adding another class to her already hectic schedule. "How are you liking muggle studies?"

Laura looked at Ella and smiled weakly. "Hi." Laura didn't know how to answer the next questions there was some she liked and some she hated none more so than Defence against the Dark Arts and Charms. "Well I think I like Astronomy." Laura had no idea if she like potions yet in some ways it was fun but in other ways not so fun. "what about you?"

"Hi Charlotte." Laura smiled, the next question well Laura didn't answer, not because she didn't want to but because she wasn't sure, in some ways she was loving it but in other ways it had took her sister from her, she hadn't seen Lana for ages.

Laura looked at Sophie and smiled, though inwardly she was wondering what was up with all the questions. "I'm finding it okay." Laura smiled. "I've gain a few points here and there, though I can't really seem too find time to get the homework done." Laura sighed. "I'll do some soon though Sophie." Yes Laura would do some soon if she remembered, but first she was on a mission to find out if her sister was mad with her.

"No problem!" Sophie smiled at the girl. "I'm loving Hogwarts too! Everything's SO awesome, isn't it??"

Sophie didn't mind that she didn't know anything about Ancient Runes. They were at school to learn after all, right? If they knew everything, they wouldn't need to come to Hogwarts! "We'll do fine! I'm sure we'll be more prepared in the next class!" Sophie would try to be, at least. But just the thought of having to read the textbook made her feel lazy. Meh. "Oh, yeah, those squirrels were crazy! I almost fell off the broom because of them. And the decided to live on my broom, I had like... 6 or 7 of them on me at once!" she shook her head remembering that. "That was not nice!"

"Oh, I went to a muggle school before coming to Hogwarts too, but I felt like taking the class because... well, they sounded like fun!" Heh! "I didn't go to the first one, though."

Daisy walked into her dorm and flopped onto her bed, sighing slightly. It was one of those rare occasions when she was really, truly bored at Hogwarts. Sure, it was a massive castle, and there was loads to do, but nothing seemed to excite her right now. She'd already explored most of it, and all her friends seemed to have evaporated. She smiled slightly as her cat leapt onto her stomach and she stroked him lazily. Sure, resting was fun-ish. But she couldn't do it for long... Daisy was the kind of person that always had to have something to do, or someone to chat to.
'Anyone?' she called out randomly to the rest of the room. 'Anyone wanna do anything? I'm dying of boredom here...'

Ella nodded at Sophie, a smile on her face. "You're right, I'm sure we'll have a better time in the next class. I really shouldn't worry about it!" Even though Ella was a worrier by nature, especially about school related things. She laughed when Sophie recalled her experience with the squirrels. She too thought they were crazy. "I know right? Our brooms were like squirrel magnets! I'll tell you one thing, I won't look at squirrels the same way again!" She said giggling.

"You did? That's neat." She said smiling. "How was the class? Did you know a lot already?"

Ella sighed, looking down at her messenger bag with a frown. "I know what you mean! There is so much isn't there?" Ella still had to pass in her ancient runes homework and hadn't even started astronomy yet. "I'm just trying to get a good amount of work done each day so I don't get too overwhelmed!" She said. "The study tables are a good place to do homework, it's quiet and there is always someone down there if you need help or advice."

Alyssa decided that she would try to tell the time using the Nocturnal Instrument while she was in the Girl’s Dormitory room. She quickly took out the clumsy looking instrument and held it in both her hands. There were so many dials that she first decided to study it to try to figure out what was what. The larger disk had markings for the months, the smaller disk had the time, with ‘guards’ indicating the three reference stars in sky, of the Big Dipper, the Little Dipper and Cassopeia, and the long stick was the pointer. She studied the individual strokes on each disk to determine how to read the days and times.

Alyssa carried the Nocturnal Instrument to the window and hefted it up with both her hands. She decided to use the Constellation Cassiopeia's star, Shedar, as the reference star since it was more visible this time of the year. Then she rotated the disk that had CASS on it to align with the tonight’s date. Once she had that done, Alyssa held up the instrument in a vertical position away from her with the handle down. Peering through the hole in the center of the instrument, she moved the Nocturnal instrument around until she found the North Star blinking ever so brightly up in the night sky. Once she had found Polaris, Alyssa maintained her position, while slowly aligning the long pointer until it pointed to Shedar.

Now that she had all the discs and the pointer aligned, Alyssa read off the indicated time the pointer was lying on. Reading off the strokes, Alyssa determined that the time was about 9:15 p.m. Alyssa quickly checked her watch and punched the air with glee when the time her on watch read 9:15 p.m. Finally she was successful in getting an accurate time reading using an instrument other than her watch.

'Time for bed now.'Alyssa thought to herself. So she packed up the Nocturnal Instrument and placed it back in her bag.

Minerva went into the dorm and sat on her bed. She opened her bag and took out the weird looking object. She looked at it with a bit of confusion. Now how do you work this thing again she thought to herself. She then took out her book and opened it to the Nocturnal time thing. She read the pages that had how to work the night clock. Minerva pulled out her journal and walked over to the window. She opened her journal and wrote the date on the top. She still wasn't completely sure how to work it, but she decided it was a clear night and the moon was shining bright so it was the best time to try and work it. She lifted the object, but nothing happened. She looked back into her book and found the Aries Constellation maybe she needed to point it closer to one of them for the pull of the stars. So Minerva put the Nocturnal time up towards the constellation and saw that it began to move. She looked at it closer and figured that it was saying it was 9:30. She wrote all of this down in her journal then walked back to her bed. Putting her journal, book, and nocturnal time back into her bag.
