Entering the common room through the same corridor as the kitchens the kitchens, you will find a pile of large barrels stacked in the shadowy stone recess to your right. The second barrel from the bottom, middle of the second row, will open when tapped to the enunciation of 'Helga Hufflepuff'. (*Note: non-Hufflepuffs who tap the wrong barrel, or the incorrect number of times, will result in one of the lids bursting off and dousing the trespasser in vinegar)

Following a sloping, earthy passage inside the barrel, which will then travel upwards slightly, a cozy, round, low-ceilinged room comes into view. Welcome! Your common room is like your sanctuary. During your seven years here, your house will be like your family. The room is decorated in the cheerful house colors of yellow and black, enhanced by the use of highly polished honey-colored wood for the tables and then round doors which lead to the boys' and girls' dormitories.

Directly over the wooden mantelpiece, which is covered with carvings of decorative dancing badgers, is a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff, your house founder and one of the four Hogwarts founders, toasting her students with a tiny, two-handled golden cup. There are small, round windows level with the ground at the foot of the castle, showing a pleasant view of grass and flowers, occasionally people. As a result of the low windows, the room has a year-round sunny feel to it.

Ella was watching Nate closely. He was definitely hiding something and she really wanted to know what but didn't want to make him angry. "It's interesting isn't it? Defense against the dark arts..." Ella had been reading her text recently too and she was fascinated.

" Yeah, thats what I'm having problems with. And I was out on a clear night....Tonight. I still can't do it. ...Whatever, I tried and now I have given up the hope of figuring it out. " Justin said as he shook his head in irratation.

"Yes it was my sisters favorite subject. I'm hoping it will be my brothers too. He's coming next year. He'll probably be put in ravenclaw like the rest of my family." He could see she was keeping a close eye on him.

Minerva giggled a bit, he was cute when he was frustrated. "Give it to me" she said holding out her hand. With her other hand she pulled out her book and stood up. She headed to the window and looked up opening her book. "See what it says about the stars and constellations. See if you can find a constellation."

Ella smiled. This was the most Nate had talked to her and she was glad he was opening up a bit. Maybe that meant he would tell her what was up with him. She knew something was. "That's nice. My brother is turning 1 next month so we don't know if he'll be a wizard yet. I was the first person to show any signs of magic that we know of..."

"Yeh. My whole family is wizard. No muggles in our family since sometime in the 1800s. I'm happy that I'm a hufflepuff instead of ravenclaw. That way I can tell it to my children who can tell it to there children and so on." Nate wasn't ready to tell her about the scar he got in herbology class just yet.

Justin did as Minnie said and got his nocturnal out and pointed it at the constellation of Aries and low and behold the dial did start moving. He had been doing it all wrong the entire time. " Min, I feel like an idiot...I forgot about the whole constellation thing. " Justin said as he walked o the chair and sat down in astonishment. How could he have forgotten the most important part of using the device? Just smacked his forehead as he sunk further into the chair, ashamed.

Ella couldn't stop the smile that was forming. "Great!" was all she could say as she pulled her bag over to her side, rummaging inside. She looked back at Nate who was watching her curiously and laughed. "I don't mean great that you are allergic to something, I mean great because I have something that can help you!" She continued to dig in her bag until she realized the vial of potion was in the front pocket

Duh! She pulled it out and handed it to Nate, a smile on her face. "There. That's the potion we made in class and it's supposed to help you stop being allergic to whatever you're allergic to. In your case I guess that's peaches." She smiled.

"Duh. Part of the homework was to give it to someone who is allergic to something. Let's see if it works." Nate takes the vial from her. He takes off the cap then pours it in his mouth. Ewwww. It was bitter at first. Yuch then it was sour. Then Nate sighed because it became sweet. When it went down he said "That was idsgusting and good. It changed flavors. First bitter, then sour, and finally sweet. Hopefully it works. We will find out soon."

Justin barely grinned as she kissed his cheek. " I know, but how in the world could I forget about using the bloody constellations? " Then he got his notes out. And scanned the parchement for that specific note. He looked up and shook the page. He had figured out how he had forgotten that part. " I didn't write that down. So, I didn't forget...I just never wrote it down. " he said as he shook his head and put the parchement back in his note book with the others.

Ella laughed a little, watching Nate's facial expressions as he took the vial and drank the potion. "Sorry it was so gross!" she said, shrugging. "It'll be worth it though if it works for you!" Hopefully it would or else Ella would feel quite bad about making him drink the yucky tasting stuff.

"Anyways. I've had worse. Sometimes I think my house elf sneaks some what we like to call tangle weed root into my food. It shuts down the nerves so they fall asleep for ten to twenty four hours. We can't do anything to him ever since my parents died because he's bound to us until I graduate from hogwarts. Then that's when we set him free. We give him a place to stay though. We found a lovely little cottage nearby my house for him."

"Woah, you have a house elf?" Ella asked, excitedly. She was fascinated with house elves and they way they were so loyal to their employers until they were set free. She had heard that some were treated very poorly but it was nice of Nate and his family to give the house elf a cottage to stay in. "It's nice that you gave him his own place. I'm sure he appreciates it. Say, how exactly do you set him free?" She didn't know and was very curious.

Minerva smiled and blushed when he said pretties girl, but she tried to hide it. "Well then I wonder who she could be. Maybe I need to be worried your going to leave me for her." She got up out of the chair. "Ok lets go eat. See you later Ella/Nate."
