Entering the common room through the same corridor as the kitchens the kitchens, you will find a pile of large barrels stacked in the shadowy stone recess to your right. The second barrel from the bottom, middle of the second row, will open when tapped to the enunciation of 'Helga Hufflepuff'. (*Note: non-Hufflepuffs who tap the wrong barrel, or the incorrect number of times, will result in one of the lids bursting off and dousing the trespasser in vinegar)
Following a sloping, earthy passage inside the barrel, which will then travel upwards slightly, a cozy, round, low-ceilinged room comes into view. Welcome! Your common room is like your sanctuary. During your seven years here, your house will be like your family. The room is decorated in the cheerful house colors of yellow and black, enhanced by the use of highly polished honey-colored wood for the tables and then round doors which lead to the boys' and girls' dormitories.
Directly over the wooden mantelpiece, which is covered with carvings of decorative dancing badgers, is a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff, your house founder and one of the four Hogwarts founders, toasting her students with a tiny, two-handled golden cup. There are small, round windows level with the ground at the foot of the castle, showing a pleasant view of grass and flowers, occasionally people. As a result of the low windows, the room has a year-round sunny feel to it.

Minerva got up and went over. "I.. I don't know anything about this instrument. What should we do."
The notebook flips to another page. The page shows how to play the instrument. It also shows information about the instrument. It reads
Quote:
The ocarina (/ɑːkəˈriːnə/) is an ancient flute-like wind instrument.[1] Variations do exist, but a typical ocarina is an enclosed space with four to twelve finger holes and a mouthpiece that projects from the body. It is often ceramic, but other materials may also be used, such as plastic, wood, glass, clay, and metal. The ocarina belongs to a very old family of instruments, believed to date back to over 12,000 years. How an ocarina works:
1.Air enters through the windway
2.Air strikes the labium, producing sound
3.Air vibrates throughout the inside of the ocarina
4.Covering and uncovering holes lowers and raises the pitch
The book flipped to another page with a song on it. The lyrics were
Quote:
Are you are you coming to the tree?
Where they strung up a man they say murdered three.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where the dead man called out for his love to flee.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where I told you to run so we’d both be free.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me.
Strange things did happen here

If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree

Minerva picked up the notebook and read it. Then looked at the instrument. She picked it up and turned it around. She studied the notebook some more. She began to finger the keys and then shrugged her shoulders. She pulled the instrument to her mouth and blew the air into it. The sound shocked her. She looked at Justin and then back to the notebook which had changed to lyrics. She began to play hoping it would help, not sure if she was even doing it correctly.

As the lyrics were sung the cuts got smaller, but they were getting deeper. Then two claws appeared and started to scratch Nate again. As soon as the claws went in and came out blood was on them.

Minerva stopped playing confused of what was going on. "I don't understand what's going on. What does this instrument have to do with him acting so weird." She thought maybe the first year was playing a trick on them. "I think I'm going to get a Prefect."
As the claws were digging in the more blood went down his arm. Soon his whole arm would be covered in blood. Well on the bright side the claws weren't posioned. Also he was happy that he heard Minnie was going to get a prefect. His hearing was back! That mean he would be back soon....hopefully at least.
Nate started twitching when he heard them say his name. His notebook was enchanted so it opened to a page that read
Then the ocarina started to play by itself.

Sophie just watched as the two older Hufflepuffs tried getting Nate back to normal. She had a worried look on her face, but didn't say or do anything else. She wasn't sure if it was a good idea to be playing that weird thing anyway...
When Minerva said something about getting a prefect, Sophie was the first to get up. "I'll go get Treyen!" she had spotted him with Glenn and Ella by the fireplace when she came in the Common Room.

Haha. Yes, freaky. "It's...I don't know, this is the first time I get to meet someone that was born the same day I was," so, mind you, he still wasn't sure how he felt about this. "Yeah, eighteen." That...sounded like a lot of responsibility placed upon his shoulders, no? "It's still months away...," he was reminded of Ellie as he said this, those were her words when NEWTs were brought up.
And...he was back to smiling widely, "I like cupcakes better." Probably because he could eat just one and his Co-Prefect and best friend would be satisfied with watching him eat a whole serving, while with cake...well, there were repetitions, no?
The seats? They were the best. "After seven years...you usual get time to find the best places available." He still took a front seat in Potions, and a back seat in Charms, he wasn't sure if those were the best, but when it came to the Common Room, the library, and the stands...well, he knew which ones worked best.
About France...he couldn't agree more. "It's a good country to hang out too." Yet it wasn't home for him. "I...think I enjoyed Italy a lot more, though, the summer we went there." No, no, he doesn't 'think' he enjoyed Italy tons more, he knows he loves that country...but, yeah, he still had the whole world to see, no?
How come every time Glenn came around...he was with a girl? Oh, WAIT! GLENN! He'd been wanting to meet her for a while now. "Glenn, how are you?" he asked, leaning a bit forward to talk to the girl, "I...kind of wanted to apologize to you for that last time." Not that he truly needed to apologize. It was his girlfriend the one that had been rude to her in the first place.
"I'm terribly sorry. Really. She...we...wanted to...be alone, for a while. Had you met me some other time, or had we met any other day than her birthday, I'm sure it would've been a very different greeting." Seriously. Ellie probably wouldn't have minded had it not been her birthday. Her seventeen birthday, by the way. Which seemed to be a big deal. If not, ask Aaron, he seemed to think so too.
And...this girl received both a nod and a smile. "I'm doing excellent. How about you?" See? Hufflepuff had the nicest girls, except, maybe Laura, he still wasn't sure about her...and the few boys...well, Tye wasn't the nicest one of the bunch.
"I'm Treyen, by the way." In case she had yet to hear who the Head Boy was.
She ran up to the Head Boy, once again asking for help. Sophie have watched a bad experience when a firstie tried to help other students on their first day at Hogwarts, she wouldn't dare doing the same thing. At least not that soon.
"Treyen!" again, not a good time to call him by his nickname. "Nate is acting weird on the floor over there!" she pointed at where Minerva and Justin where. "There's something wrong about that notebook and instruments of his..." she looked at where the other two badgers were, with a concerned expression on her face.

Amethyst shook her head out of pity and helped Justin hold the boy's arms up. She looked around, looking for something that would help out. She looked at Saber who looked just as mortified as she.

"I'm fine." Glenn said, looking at Treyen, "It's- it's fine." She said, blushing and looking away to the dying embers of the fireplace, "I'm sure she's usually lovely," Well, at least to Treyen. Glenn tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear.
She looked away from the fire and back at Treyen again, "Do you miss your nickname, Treyen-Mr-head-Boy?" Glenn giggled, changing the topic of the conversation suddenly. "Sophie should be around here somewhere as well."
Glenn glanced at the other girl sitting by the fireplace, she hadn't see her before around school.
He never intended to make her blush, though, and he didn't even know what she was blushing about to begin with. Apologies made her blush? That would be a first. He should know, he'd apologized a LOT before.
But then Glenn mentioned something that made his smile disappear. 'I'm sure she's usually lovely'. Actually, he doubted it in his head, for a small fraction of time. Ellie was simply perfect, to him at least, but he'd never giving it much thought as to how she was towards others, and the incident with Glenn had him doubting that fact for a moment. He even opened his mouth to comment on it...but no words came. Did it truly matter, though? If Ellie was super nice to a girl or not? She...wasn't particularly nice to Kurumi either, not that he could blame her...but...
Treyen shook his head as if to make those thought vanish from his mind, and...Glenn succeeded in doing so when she mentioned the nickname her and Sophie had come up with at the feast. He laughed, softly, "It's quite refreshing to hear it, truth be told," not that Treyen was coming to terms with enjoying it just yet, but at least it seemed to bring a smile to his face now. "I may actually let you call me that." Wasn't she doing that already?

She definitely would have been creeped out. "That's true but you know, that's what I thought last year but before I knew it, I was sixteen." Gosh, she really wished she had a time turner. She could just go back in time whenever she wanted.
"I love cakes." Evelyn declared. "Cakes, pastries, cupcakes..they are just so good. I wish I could have them everyday for the rest of my life.." She finished with a dreamy sigh.
Evelyn raised her eyebrows slightly. "So, you've been here year for seven years? That's amazing." She was a little depressed about the fact that she would have to stay for just one more term before she left. Anyway, she refused to delve on that now.
Evelyn nodded. "Italy is a lovely place as well. I was there for a summer although I don't remember much. I think I was nine at the time." Traveling. It was the one thing she loved the most. She still wanted to visit so many places..she still had time. Once she finished school, she would work for a couple of years before she took a year off just to travel. She wasn't sure if that would actually work..
"By the way, do you mind if I call you Trey?" Err. Evelyn had no idea what made her ask him that. Sometimes, she acted like such a fool. She looked at the fireplace, feeling a little awkward.
And you know what? "At least I share it with someone who seems to be nice," and not with the scary Evelyn from last year, but back to present, he actually agreed with her, "Yeah, I like the one-year apart difference," or...well...he would still be a silent Head Boy from the shock of it all, "I know, time is passing by so quickly these days...," too quickly, they were already too close to Christmas, but that only meant he was close to more study-time since he was staying in the castle for the holidays. NEWTs.
Then he laughed. That was funny. So, basically, she loved everything related to cakes. Nice to know. But.., "Why don't you? I mean, we're at Hogwarts, the house elves keep them at each table on the Great Hall...so, you can have them every day." Yet, he supposed that having the same thing you liked every single day would get tiring. Probably. He didn't have a favorite food he'll love to have every day.
Oh. Yes. Seven years. "I've been here since my first year...this is my seventh and final year." Hence why the Head Boy badge was on his robes, being a seventh year was one of the requirements...the others he didn't know.
A nod came to his head. "It is." He really loved it there. Everything. Even the food. And he didn't eat much. "Oh, I went there like three summers ago," he couldn't remember the exact date...it was before the Quidditch Cup summer, though. So, probably three...or four.
Huh? That question made him smile. It was incredibly random, by the way, "Sure. As long as I get to call you Eve."Wink. Granted, his reason for that was a simple one...it wouldn't remind him of Evelyn, plus, it was short and sweet, wasn't it? Eve?

"What instrument?" That was the question that least concerned him. There was something that needed to be done first, right? Healer.
He knelt on the floor next to the boy and eyed Minnie, "Do you mind taking the instrument and the book to the Healer with me?" because he was taking the boy to the Hospital Wing. ASAP too. He just...decided it was best if someone joined him, plus he was going to have his arms full with the boy and all...
BUT THEN...he started to ask for water? Well, that was easy, Treyen accio'd a cup and recited Aguamenti before holding it close to the boy's mouth so he could drink some, "Nate? Can you hear me?" That could mean he was conscious, and that was always good.
"Y-yes. I ne-ed wat-er." Nate lips were starting to crack.
Well, okay. He was conscious, somewhat. That was good.
Actually, Treyen didn't know if that was good or not, he'd never had to deal with any type of injury...this bad, anyway. He held the cup closer to his lips, so Nate's lips was touching the cup and Treyen gently started to get some water sense into the boy, "This is water...just...have some. But we're going to the Hospital Wing, okay?" And he didn't care if Minnie followed or not, he'll just wait until Nate took a bit of water before moving him.

Ella watched with wide eyes as Treyen gave Nate some water and insisted on taking him to the hospital wing. She was glad that a healer was going to see the first year because he looked pretty bad. She was still quite confused as to what had happened to the poor kid but decided to stay seated, a concerned expression on her face. Never a dull moment at Hogwarts... she thought to herself with a sigh.

Okay. Awesome! Treyen seriously liked this girl. Then...just follow me." Mmmhmm. Yeah. That was an easy task, right?
Now that Nate had drank some water, Treyen took the boy in his arms and..., "Try to keep your eyes open, please," he said, whispering to the boy, before leaving the Common Room.
And, yeah, there will be blood on his robes, but he cared very little for that right now.
