Entering the common room through the same corridor as the kitchens the kitchens, you will find a pile of large barrels stacked in the shadowy stone recess to your right. The second barrel from the bottom, middle of the second row, will open when tapped to the enunciation of 'Helga Hufflepuff'. (*Note: non-Hufflepuffs who tap the wrong barrel, or the incorrect number of times, will result in one of the lids bursting off and dousing the trespasser in vinegar)
Following a sloping, earthy passage inside the barrel, which will then travel upwards slightly, a cozy, round, low-ceilinged room comes into view. Welcome! Your common room is like your sanctuary. During your seven years here, your house will be like your family. The room is decorated in the cheerful house colors of yellow and black, enhanced by the use of highly polished honey-colored wood for the tables and then round doors which lead to the boys' and girls' dormitories.
Directly over the wooden mantelpiece, which is covered with carvings of decorative dancing badgers, is a portrait of Helga Hufflepuff, your house founder and one of the four Hogwarts founders, toasting her students with a tiny, two-handled golden cup. There are small, round windows level with the ground at the foot of the castle, showing a pleasant view of grass and flowers, occasionally people. As a result of the low windows, the room has a year-round sunny feel to it.

"Dunno" Glenn said, "She seemed pretty ticked off when I interrupted them though." The older Ravenclaw girl had glared at her when she had talked to Treyen. She hoped she wouldn't become like that when she was older.
She giggled with Sophie, "I guess it's another thing to tease him about!" Sophie and Glenn had terrorised Treyen at the entry feast and had managed to stick him with a nickname; Treyen-Mr-Head-Boy.
"You interrupted them??" Sophie busted out laughing. "Oh my gosh, what did you say??" it sounded like a funny story! It should be, since Treyen-Mr-Head-Boy was involved.

Glenn smirked, "I just said hello, asked if Treyen missed me." She laughed along with Sophie. She was playing up the story just a little bit. After the girl had glared at her and Treyen told her to go away she had left, perhaps a bit awkwardly.

"That must have been so weird!!" Sophie laughed. She could totally imagine the Head Boy's face when Glenn interrupted them. "So what have you been up to, Glenn?" once again, she changed the subject. "What else is there to do here at Hogwarts besides going to classes??" Sophie hadn't explored around as much as she should. There were probably a million of things she didn't know about Hogwarts!
She gave him a little nod. "Well I was, i'm not sure if I'll make the team again this year." There were tons of new people trying out for the team, and there was a chance that they were all better than her. She giggled at the excitement of the eleven year old. At least he was happy that she was willing to help, and it would sort of be fun. "Okay, great then I'll help you out." she gave him a small grin.
Favorite subjects? Nessie had to think a little , she knew she loved flying but she wasn't sure she could count it as a real class as it was more for the firsties. She liked CoMC, because she really did love animals and she also sort of loved Arithmancy, but she wasn't very good at it and she sort of hoped to improve. Then there was History of magic and Divination, those weren't too exciting according to Nessie. Astronomy and Muggle Studdies were okay but her ultimate favorite that was easy. "My two favorite subjects I'd say have to be Charms and Transfiguration, because I like all the wand work." Now it was he's turn to answer. "What about you?" she asked.
Did he mind or didn't he? Nessie looked at him all confused, because honestly if he did mind she'd have no problem all him by Messer it was just that if she possibly sould she would have rather called him Eddie because it suited how cute he was. "You sure you don't mind?" she asked keeping her face serious so he knew she wasn't joking.
"That make two of us." He was not pretty sure he'd make the team because he's still a first year and there are soooo many older students who were better and more experienced in Quidditch than him. "Yay!" he threw his hand up in the air. If he didn't make it to the tam at least he still has Nessie to teach him.
Charms and Transfiguration? "I like Charms and Transfiguration too. Both subjects are nice." He could use his wand in both subject but the Charm Professor seem so uptight and he didn't particularly like an uptight Professor. Then Nessie asked him about his favorite subject. Hmm..He like Herbology, its nice learning all that plants and COMC is not that bad either but.. "My all time favorite subject is Astronomy." Most people think that Astronomy is a very boring subject but he thinks differ. Its the most interesting subject he ever know.
"I don't mind really." His little sister call him Eddie too so its alright if Nessie want to call him that. As long she's not calling him Little Edvard or something horrid like that.

Salima eyed Siobian suspiciously. Then again Salima kinda wished for this to happen, the fact that she would be sent off to some bording school... But of course not a magical one. Salima just gave a warm smile to Siobian then changed the subject-
'Does things start to get hard when you get to your sixth year? You know as a muggle-born? Not to be rude when I say that.'
"Not really." She shrugged, "Then again, I'm normally stuck into my sheet music." She smiled, "That's what I plan to be, a singer."

"Aw, thanks." Siobian smiled, "It's not a problem, It's nice to talk to someone new. I'm shy, so I don't get to talk to many new people." She sighed and said sarcastically, "And you should be grateful to be a Hufflepuff, after all we're the best!"
Minerva blushed a bit. That grin of his was so cute she thought. "Well it depends on what your looking for. I read many transfiguration and potion books last year. I also read a gobstone book as well. If your not trying out for quidditch anymore would you want to play gobstones with me?"
" Sure, I mean I could try...Don't know how much help I'd be, but what the heck. I'll try most anything once. " he said as he smiled ar her blushing. It brought out the color of her eyes. " I'll check out that Gobestone book and maybe a few on charms. I think I do well in charms, like it comes a bit natural . Ya know? "
Laura walked into the common room, she couldn't believe she hadn't seen her sister around again, maybe her sister was busy in the Ravenclaw common room, well anyway Laura had decided to come back to the Hufflepuff Common Room to see if she could find anyone around.

" Justin said as he broke down into tears and buried his head into her shoulder sobbing. " It's....Alll my fault. I-I never should've ....." he trailed off as he sobbed harder. " I never wanted her to leave. I care so much about her and I feel guilty for ....well, ya know wanting to be with you. I thought she'd understand....That I needed time to sort out my feelings , but she left and wouldn't let me stop her...."

Minerva looked at Justin in shock and felt hurt. Her best friend left without telling her. "Are you kidding me? She left, she never even tried to talk to me. I think she feels this is my fault." Minerva wrapped her arms around Justin and hugged him tightly.

Minerva took her hands and pulled his face to look at her. "You are not a wimp. You were upset and she wouldn't listen. We are all so young that she shouldn't have taken it so crazy and run off." she loved Ame, but come on. "Harvey isn't changing schools because of me. You two broke up for a reason and if she couldn't stay and see what that reason was then maybe she was suppose to leave."

She nodded softly as she felt her heart tug in her chest. She was possibly going to cry, so she gave another quick glance at Justin, smiled sheepishly at Minerva and quickly roll up to her dorm.

Siobian smiled, "It's a reminder for me really," She paused, "To remind me that I'm not all witch." She pushed her hair back, "I did have a fairly normal life until this came up." She sighed.
