Rubeus Hagrid. But Scabior wasnt going to to into that because other students had explained this. Scabior looked over to the stalls, trying to rush before Myrtle decided to pop up.

Everyone had explained things great so far, so he was happy that he did not need to go in detail too much. "After that he decided it wasn't safe to be opened again while he was at school, so he created something known as a Horcrux which allowed him to put a piece of his soul into a diary." They didn't need to get into details about Horcruxes.

"That diary became a key part to the second opening of the Chamber. Why is that?"

August listened intently about Lord Voldemort, the man who almost made the Wizarding World a terrible, and horrid place for all magical folk even Muggles, and his beginnings at Hogwarts and how he opened the Chamber of Secrets for the first time. How could he do that? And then the Basalisk killed a girl and her ghost was still here? Geez, that was horrible.

The Gryffindor didn't know everything about Harry Potter, but he knew enough to get him by--but it was still far from a lot. "Sir, since Voldemort put his soul in the diary, could he use it to influence someone else to open the chamber or somehow come out of it and do it himself?" Horcruxes were confusing, he hadn't read much about them in his textbooks.

sweetpinkpixie 02-25-2012 01:11 AM

Professor Scabior seemed to be in a somewhat frightening pleasant mood. Clearly, this was because he was about to take them all down into the Chamber of Secrets for some sort of sinister reason. He had been pleasant when they had gone into the lake too...scary man, this professor was.

Jotting down more notes and filling in the blank spaces on her timeline, Kurumi looked up when the class moved on. That was...a rather BROAD question right there. It became a key part in opening it? It certainly became a key part to understanding what was going on in the Second Wizarding War as well. Thinking for a few moments, Kurumi raised her hand to offer up an answer. "As a horcrux, it was able to use magical influence to possess and force Ginny Potter to try and finish the work that Voldemort had been unable to finish before his first fall. The diary was able to do this because Ginny was able to communicate with the memory of the sixteen-year-old Tom Riddle left in the diary by writing on its pages. The closer the one came to memory the more power he had over them." Kurumi lowered her hand now and braced for impact. It was a much longer answer than she had been giving these days...

*gulp*

More notes... It seemed to Lily that almost all that she did in classes was take notes on this or on that. But at least she knew most of this information, and as the professor went on to talk about Myrtle, Lily started to wonder if Myrtle was going to make an appearance any time soon. But now was another question... Lily raised her hand to answer the question, trying to find a way to simplify the answer. "The diary became a way for Tom Riddle's soul piece to control Ginny Weasley and re-open the chamber, allowing Tom to continue the work that he had been unable to do while he was at school." There... that was simple enough, right?

FireboltAvis88 02-25-2012 01:31 AM

Alyssa sighed when the Professor addressed her answer with his regular sarcasm. But she was determined to carry on. So she thought carefully before raising her hand to answer.

"Because Tom Riddle had placed part of his soul into the diary, he was able to control the thoughts of someone who first opened it. Through this person, he was able to open the chamber again and unleash the Basilisk. The more the person, in this case Ginny Weasley, wrote in the diary, the stronger Riddle's soul became because he was basically siphoning off her life source.".

lazykitty 02-25-2012 02:24 AM

"Once Ginny Weasley opened and used the diary, Tom Riddle's soul was able to use her to open the chamber again," Sky answered. Simple enough. She waited for the next part of the lesson, jotting down a few notes.

SPOILER!!: Myrtle Answers

"Yes, Tom Riddle was the heir." But Scabior wasn't impressed, he just stared at the girl. "I just said that the Basilisk can kill people." Was she not listening or did she just need to clean out her ears?

SPOILER!!: Hagrid answers

It seemed like the Gryffindor was learning how to control her answers. "Right, good job mentioning the Gaunt family."

So much information. "Great to know that you can regurgitate your textbook Miss Potter."

Scabior nodded. "Yup. Good job mentioning that they were related as well."

Oh, good question. "Well there isn't any recorded information about the Basilisk being released before. So it may have been, but there would be no way of us knowing."

"Freaky snake language?" Scabior just chuckled.

"Right." He nodded.

Violet immediately raised her hand after taking down the professor's notes on her parchment. "A former deatheater named Lucious Malfoy had put Tom Riddle's Diary into Harry Potter's wife's, Ginny Weasley, bucket of books when she was in her first year. Through the diary, 16 year old self Tom was able to communicate with Ginny and sort of..hypnotized her into re-opening the chamber once more I guess. Tom was basically using her life source which had almost depleted her if Harry Potter had not saved her."

"Professor isn't the diary like a mind control device. A death eater named Lucius Malfoy put the diary into a little girl named Ginny Weasley's cauldron. Then when she poured her heart and soul into the diary, Tom Riddle or Lord Voldemort could take posession of her mind and make the chamber opened again." Annabelle asked and hoping some of her details were right.

Somnium 02-25-2012 03:31 AM

Taylor raised her hand, "Isn't it important because some Gryffindor girl got her mind taken over and got her to open the chamber and do his bidding?" She didnt remember the girl's name and didn't think it was important anyway.

Vlimia knew the answer. She knew it all too well. Speaking of this made her feel a bit... odd. She had had to know all these facts about the Chamber and the Basilisk and Horcruxes and now they were in the very place... it was just odd. "The diary controlled a vulnerable person in order to open the chamber and let people know that the chamber was going to be opened. Once Harry Potter - the person Tom Riddle most wanted to control - found the diary, Tom found a way to lure Harry into the Chamber. He did this with the vulnerable person he had under his control. Tom used her strength as his... he took it from her." Vlimia paused for breath. "Tom Riddle was dangerously close to becoming fully alive once again, but Harry Potter destroyed the diary with a basilisk fang." She said.

WhittyBitty 02-25-2012 05:12 AM

Amelia raised her hand again as another question was asked. These were all easy. "It was given to Ginny Weasley and he used it to get her to do his biding. He got her to open the Chamber and release the Basilisk."

PhoenixWizard 02-25-2012 06:04 AM

Raising her hand Angelina said, "The diary takes someone unaware of it being a Horcrux that can control them. With that the diary is able to take over the person in a like way they know they don't mean to do what they do for real, it just makes them. With Ginny Weasley the diary made her be the physical person to open the Chamber of Secret leading her incontrol on the heir of Slytherin, Tom Roddle." that was the best she would explaine the diary, she hoped she was on the right track.

2111jen 02-25-2012 06:50 AM

Raising her hand Jen said "Some witch was controlled by the memory of Voldemort to open the chamber."

Jessiqua 02-25-2012 08:40 AM

Zhenya wasn't entirely sure she could answer the question... She understood what the diary was but how did it open the chamber? She took a guess and raised her hand, "Erm Professor, because he wasn't here to actually get into the chamber himself, he had to leave some directions. Or the chamber would unlikely ever be opened. So, when he showed Ginny Weasley how to get into the chamber he was able to open it once more," she said... was that right?

Bazinga 02-25-2012 02:02 PM

Minerva put her hand up "Professor it was because the Diary was a Hora.. ummm I can't remember the word, but it was part of Riddles soul so it tricked another student into opening it. Told her what to say and what to do."

Hey Ju 02-25-2012 03:50 PM

Sophie had no idea of what a Horcr-whatever was and she had never heard about this diary thing. She frowned as the other students answered. It all sounded... spooky. The guy controled someone else with his memory that was in a diary? Heh?

The story of Salazar Slytherin and his Chamber of Secrets. It was an interesting one, maybe especially since Sierra was a pureblood Slytherin. Again, she didn't agree with ridding the school of the Muggleborns, but it was still interesting to listen to the history involving her house's founder. She found herself raising her hand even before her answer fully formed in her mind.

"The diary was a horcrux, so it had part of Riddle's soul in it," Sierra pointed out. "The diary ended up in Ginny Weasley's hands, and she communicated with Riddle through the diary." Sierra paused and made a slight face. That communication just creeped her out. "It was through this connection that Riddle, or Voldemort by then, convinced Ginny to reopen the Chamber."

Janice loved History. She had always thought that they is more like stories, not something that is a pain for someone like her who's memorization skills are really, really bad. She raised her hand and answered.

"Well, it's Tom's bit of soul inside the diary who possed Ginny Weasley into opening the Chamber for the second time. Harry Potter. Why does that sound so familiar? Janice thought. Right. Beatrix Potter, the famous Muggle writer.

DuckyLinJi 02-25-2012 05:15 PM

Despite having read about the history about the secret underground tunnels, that didn't mean that Daichi knew or remembered what had been written. He knew he had read it once, maybe twice and he could answer a few questions but that was it.

And as Professor Scabior explained further. He found himself staring fascinated as he listened. Was this really the Professor that had made him feel scared and angry in the first lesson? Because he seemed...normal?

Shaking his head, Daichi quickly took out his notebook and pen to write in.

SPOILER!!: notes

Tom Riddle= Folduhmod Folduhmort!
Students were petrified
Girl died , lives in this lavatory now
Horkruks can split soul which is creepy
diary became key part in opening the chamber.

Looking up from taking notes, the third year wanted to raise his hand to answer but couldn't come up with one.

pundantic 02-25-2012 06:21 PM

This lesson reminded Selina of her childhood. Every question that Scabior asked was a sudden flash of her childhood when her father and mother told her stories of the Great War. Harry Potter's life as well as his companions was something of legend in the wizarding world and all magical children learned the tales.

So when he asked about the Chamber of Secrets and the diary that opened it, Selina's hand rose in the air, "Sir, the diary held a piece of Tom Riddle's soul in it, which manipulated Ginny Potter to open the Chamber of Secrets. The diary was hers, so every time she wrote in the piece of Tom Riddle would instruct her on things to do to open the Chamber." Kind of creepy actually.

------------

Almost done the learning part of the lesson. Great. "So," Scabior looked around the class "Ginny Potter possessed by Tom Riddles soul, via the diary was able to open the chamber and release the Basilisk once more. It caused a lot of harm petrifying students and even Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington and once again almost resulted in the closing of Hogwarts."

He took a large breath. The students had basically said it all for him. "Harry Potter came and was able to do his hero thing at twelve years old, and destroying the diary and the Basilisk, rendering both the diary and the chamber useless." With no giant monster the Chamber of Secrets wasn't anything dangerous.

"Now lets say between the first and second opening, that someone was actually able to find the entrance to the Chamber. Why would it have been nearly impossible to open it?" This was the 'you had to read your textbooks for this' type of question.

Weasley174 02-25-2012 10:59 PM

Laura looked at the Professor and smiled. "Because they aren't related to Mr Slytherin so they couldn't speak his language, Harry only could because Mr Riddle accidently transfered some of his power to him.

Why would it have been nearly impossible to open it?" This was the 'you had to read your textbooks for this' type of question.[/color]

Taylor raised her hand, "Professor wasn't the entrance hard to find and even if you did find it you would have to know that you need to use parseltongue and then you would need to know how to speak in parseltongue and isn't there a certain pharse in parseltongue you need to use?" She took a breath and stopped there. Tay started braiding her hair, waiting on the professor to reply back and for the other students to talk.

Yeah...Gideon was busy writing stuff down, especially stuff that he wasn't aware of or hadn't necessarily come to his mind or memory. And what Kurumi had said about horocruxes was certainly going into his notes even before Professor Scabior had mentioned it, and most definantly after he did. No doubt if it caught the man's attention for the better it might be used by him. At the next question, the 5th year thought about it, trying to remember what made the openers special explaining one of the reasons of the several decade gap between openings. Finally it came to him, a connection to Slytherin and the house's model creature.

"It could only be opened by someone who was a parselmouth," he answered after raising his hand. "Someone who spoke to snakes."

Angelina thought for a moment and said after raising her heand, "You can only open the chamber if you speak parsemouth, and the only way to understand and speak it where you know whats goig on is if you are related to the founder of Slytherin."
