A class on the history of the bathroom. Well now. This was proving to be interesting so far. So now Scabbers wanted to know what the Chamber of Secrets was--but not what was inside of it (therefore eliminating the dead basilisk and the tunnels), who made it (eliminating Slytherin), or 'any of that' (eliminating who knew what).
You are not being very specific Scabs!
So taking out dead basilisk, tunnels, Slytherin, and whatever 'any of that' was', Sierra was only left with, "It's a formerly secret hallway under the dungeons," she said, raising her hand. Basic enough, hmm?

William, who had previously been writing down everything Professor Scabior had been saying, as well as his peers' answers, was getting tired of writing. Just as he had lowered his quill, he decided to raise his hand, which seldom ever happened.
"Professor," he said before coughing. "Wouldn't the Chamber of Secrets be just a gigantic system of pipes with large caverns included? The Basilisk was able to attack the students way back in 1993 because it could travel through the plumbing. And – ACHOO!" the poor second year was cut off by a violent series of sneezes. No matter where he went, he couldn't evade some sort of allergy. Deciding he had said enough, he remained silent and waited for the Professor to continue.

Selina rose her hand to answer her Professor's question about what the Chamber of Secrets was and still, in a way, is. It never went away, it was still there architecturely. It was just not used for what it once was, it sat in the underground workings of Hogwarts now as a testament to what it once was. And thank Merlin it was no longer used for the purposes it once was used for, "Sir it was a secret liar built by Salazar Slytherin to conceal his basilisk."

Someone seemed out of breath. Luckily the girl was not late. "Hello Miss Reyes." Scabior lowered his voice. "Just a reminder running in the halls is not acceptable." Even if she had been running late for his class.
Glenn flushed at Professor Scabior when he told her that she should not be running in the halls. Secretly, she was cursing him in her head for not forewarning them about it being in the bathroom in the first place then she wouldn't have been running to get to class. But she quenched the thoughts and sat down instead.

- Where a girl named Myrtle died
- Last place were Gilderoy Lockhart was seen sane
- Polyjuice potion made by Harry Potter and friends
"As you can see-" He jabbed his thumb at the list. "-There are loads of reasons as to why, this specific lavatory is important to Hogwarts history. The question he was asking could be answered by a five year old, and he would know. He asked one before.
Wait. So it was true that there was a ghost in this bathroom? Glenn looked over her shoulder almost comically to see if it - she - was there. She was one girl who had watched one too many horror films in her lifetime. Despite seeing her house ghost around, she really hadn't seen any on the others all too much. When she used the bathroom up here, she assumed the snivelling was the mucked up pipes or something.
"Well - It's a chamber, right? With lots of pipes because it's entrance leads from the bathroom?"

Of all the places in this massive castle, why the lavatory? It's girls lavatory, for Merlin's good! G.I.R.L.S! What in the world was this Chamber of Secrets Scabior was talking about anyway? There wasn't any entrance to any chambers in there other than the cubicles. "A chamber that holds... Many secrets??"Duhh?? It was obvious enough.

Zhenya didn't really understand the chamber of secrets, because she had only heard about it in context of who made it and what it housed, rather than what it was. She was impressed by this teacher.
She raised her hand and decided to give a plain basic answer, "Professor it is a secret area underneath us here that people didn't know about."

Hmmm..let's see, she knew about the Chamber of Secrets and who resides there and those things that happened there back in the time of the great Harry Potter. And as questions after questions were asked by Professor Scabior, she busied herself with listening to the answers given by her classmates which sounded almost the same. The only difference were how they delivered the idea. Beezus shrugged and continued on just listening. No need to add more when you were just gonna say the same thing right?
Jezabel Black
02-21-2012 11:06 AM
Jez shrugged at the question. Most basic form? "It's a chamber with a secret," she said, her hand raised, trying to hide the smile that wanted to tug at her lips. Pointing out the obvious much? Although that secret wasn't so 'secret' anymore. Her hopes of actually entering the chamber were rising considerably.

OH!
The scary professor had seen him. And had invited him inside. Okay, here we go then. He really felt as if he had needed a voiced invitation to enter this room. Maybe he was a vampire! :O Plus he REALLY didn't want to lose points. Even if this still was a girls' bathroom.
Nodding more to himself than the professor, Lewis finally entered the bathroom. His eyes immediately started to dart around anxiously but nothing happened. No, it looked like a very normal bathroom. Nothing was going to attack him for entering it seemed. Not right now anyway.

So instead he just copied down what he wrote in mid-air, a little amused by the whole Lockhart part. It WAS true though so it was probably important. What the Chamber of Secrets was? In the most basic form? He could do that, right? That wasn't too hard? Raising his hand hesitantly, Lewis answered, "Well, Sir, it's a chamber. Under the dungeons. Created by Salazar Slytherin." Was that basic enough?

Listening to all the other answers, Lewis made a point of writing EVERYTHING down. So as it were he was of course also paying attention to a young Ravenclaw when he started to say something...which he however never got to finish seeing as he had to sneeze.
And quite loudly too. And repeatedly "Bless you." Lewis replied before he could stop himself, as he still waited expectantly for the boy to finish his sentence.

As the Professor wrote the lists of everyone's answers in mid air, Messer oulled out his notebook from his bag and copied it. He looked down to his writing and noticed that its a bit messy. Well, its rather difficult writing without a desk. When the Professor started speaking again, Messer's gaze went toward the Professor.
What the chamber is? The young badger raised his hand up in the air "Umm..Its a big room inside Hogwarts, Sir. And its hidden under under the dungeons of Hogwarts."

What did it look like? Auggie looked at Professor Scabior and raised his hand, determined to redeem himself. "Sir, the Chamber is a vast open cave-like Chamber with smooth stone walls and there is alot of water run-off in it's channels."
"Well that certain is what a chamber is. So...since the Chamber of Secrets is a chamber you are correct." Gold stars for you.

"Professor the chamber of secrets is a secret chamber created by Mr Slytherin, he decided to build it after getting in a fight with the other three creaters of Hogwarts." Laura decided to answer the question though she was still annoyed.
Oh, amazing. The Hufflepuff finally decided that she attended school to learn and listening to professors. Amazing. He simply ignored her answer though. It was not simple at all.

"You make it sound like a maze. But I figure it is a bit like that so yes, you are correct."

"Aqueduct. Tunnel. Two different things. Aqueducts are known as water bridges for a reason." The Chamber was called a chamber and not bridge of water for a reason.

Just put the HEIR OF SLYTHERIN in a bad mood why don't you...They were all going to become ghosts and haunt the girls' bathroom now. Thanks.
Slowly, Kurumi raised her hand again. No upsetting the scary man now. "The Chamber of Secrets is a really REALLY big room or space located under the dungeons of Hogwarts." He said he wanted basic and that was about as basic as she could get.
"The main chamber, right." He nodded. "Everything else...the tunnels...nothing really." The creator had built his own mini labyrinth when it came to the tunnels.

What the chamber thingy was? Well, it wasn't so secret now, was it? "They say that Salazar Slytherin built a system of tunnels under the school to get revenge on the other founders after a fight, Professor." How much of that was true, she wasn't sure.
And she lowered her hand.
He sighed. "Your answer does not tell me what the chamber is which is what I asked for. I didn't ask for anything else."

Holding class in a washroom did not help his laziness, especially when he didn't have a desk to lean against. Scabior sighed but luckily for the students that didn't affect his mood too much.

Gideon listened to his classmates answer Professor Scabior's question about the chamber. Some had even gone beyond what was being asked, but the fifth year hadn't seen anything wrong with it. However when the professor moved on it was clear the man had either not listened or heard what had already been said or was simply interested in hearing all over again. So he decided to try his hand at answering and so raised his hand to speak.
"It was created by Salazar Slytherin," he replied before pausing to collect what he thought on the other aspect of the question. "And maybe the reason for the tunnels and dead ends was for misdirection and to get people lost unless they were cunning enough to get past it all and prove themselves."

Chamber. Hallway. Same thing really. Booo, Scabior.
"It was created by Salazar Slytherin," Sierra said, raising her hand. She said her house's founder's name with pride, as if he'd been the greatest thing since...errr, was sliced bread even invented when he was alive? Anyway...
"...and he created it, so he could house a basilisk in there that would rid the school of all the Muggleborns," she added. She didn't say this part with as much pride, though. The Greingoth's held so such opinion of Muggles. They were neutral. Switzerland, if you will.
She'd answer that last question, too, because she had a few ideas, but the way it was worded seemed like it was meant only for those who didn't know the answers to the first two questions.

Evelyn looked around her, a little nervous. Class in a haunted bathroom was definitely not making her feel comfortable.
Her attention was back on the professor, when he proceeded to ask the next question. Well..she wasn't sure about the answer but she decided to answer the question. Evelyn raised her hand. "Um. Professor, the chamber was created by Salazar Slytherin. He apparently wasn't happy with the acceptance of muggleborns at Hogwarts and so he created a chamber that housed a basilisk..to get rid of the muggleborns." Stupid man. So evil and mean. "Uh..is that right?" She was happy that she got a little bit of reading done before attending class. Evelyn was really proud of herself.

Williams face flushed red with chagrin after Professor Scabior's rude response to his answer. He sat there, silent and angry, and decided to not answer the easy question Scabior had asked in an attempt to evade ridicule once more. Instead, he crossed his arms and looked down at his shoes. He didn't like having class in the lavatory. But moments later he changed his mind. He knew the answers to what Scabior had just asked. His hand rose into the air and he began talking.
"The Chamber was created after Salazar Slytherin got in a dispute with Godric Gryffindor. He didn't approve of having muggleborns get an education at Hogwarts. He wanted only those of pure blood to be taught, for he thought they were the ones truly deserving of magical education. The chamber was created to house the Basilisk, with the intent that his heir would utilize the chamber and the beast within to purge Hogwarts of all those deemed unworthy of magical education." He purposely didn't answer the last question, because he knew whatever he'd say would just end up in humiliation. He lowered his hand and resumed looking at the ground.
Oh, amazing. The Hufflepuff finally decided that she attended school to learn and listening to professors. Amazing. He simply ignored her answer though. It was not simple at all.
"So, as many if not all of you said, a chamber is underneath the school, it's a big room that has a bunch of tunnels around it. This specific chamber holds secrets." Scary. And basic, which he didn't mind at all. "Does anyone know who created the chamber, and why? And if you don't know-" He looked around down at the students. "-what do you think was the purpose in surrounding the chamber with tunnels and dead ends?"
Right. Now people could tell him who created it.
Laura stared at the Professor, had he just ignored her, oh he was going on the list of worst Professor, right at the top, he'd be going ahead of the evil Nurse, oh this Question was simple, Laura felt like yawning but decided again it, she didn't want to lose anymore points. . "Mr Slytherin created it because he was bored with the other people trying to let muggles into the school." Laura wasn't sure if the Professor would listen but she'd answer anyway.

Alyssa pondered on the question before raising her hand to answer,"Professor, they built tunnels and dead ends to confuse people so that it would be harder for them to discover the chamber. It was meant to be a secret place for Salazar Slytherin and he didn't want the other founders or anyone else finding it. So creating a maze of tunnels and dead ends would definitely create confusion and only the determined or the fool hardy would eventually find it."

Holding class in a washroom did not help his laziness, especially when he didn't have a desk to lean against. Scabior sighed but luckily for the students that didn't affect his mood too much.

The tips of Lily's ears turned pink as the professor made a face at her answer. Why did this teacher have to be so brunt and rude about responding to people's answers?... Next question... Lily raised her hand to answer. "Salazar Slytherin created the chamber as a place to house his 'monster' that would rid the school of those that he felt were unworthy to study magic, or muggleborns." Lily replied as a chill went down her back. She hated the thought that someone had attempted to get rid of all muggleborns at Hogwarts. At least now, the monster was dead...

Minerva put her hand up "Professor Mr.Slytherin made the chamber and it had many tunnels and dead ends so that no one would be able to find it."

Ooh, another question that Amelia found easy to answer. She wasliking this lesson so far even if it was all stuff she knew. She was curious to see how things here would progress.
She raised her hand now. "The chamber was created by Salazar Slytherin. He didn't really approve of the other founders accepting Muggleborns into the school, so he made it to house a Basilisk. The Basilisk was to rid the school of Muggleborns."

Daichi scratched his knee as he sat crossed legged on the floor...of a girls bathroom. Honestly, he still wondered WHY they had to sit on the floor? Was the Professor sitting? nooo... so why should they?! His hand stopped scratching his knee when the itch was gone and held his arm up to answer the question.
"The almighty...i mean Great... i mean Salazar Slytherin made the chamber of secrets, sir" He said as his eyes started to twinkle and his upper body swayed a bit back and forth in excitement.
He had read about it in the school book before and he was fascinated that his house founder had such a secret room under the castle and not many had found it in history. "I think he made the dead ends and tunnels to mislead anyone who would enter. I think most people would give up after some time and...there was something about a monster but" he bit his lip as he tried to recall what he had read but nothing came up, unless his mind went towards the duck pond like it did now . Honestly why wasn't Mr.Murdoch letting him take care of those cute ducky ducks.. ."hehehe" he giggled to himself as he imagined a duck in the bathroom right now.
OH! right class! .....what was he talking about again? O_o

Ella wasn't entirely sure who had come up with the chamber but felt she had a good idea why it was constructed the way it was."Professor, I don't know who created the chamber but I think there were so many tunnels and dead ends to firstly, keep people from finding the secrets hidden there and secondly, prevent them from finding their way out again if they did uncover a secret."

Seeing as everyone had pretty much answered the first bit about Salazar Slytherin creating, or at least designing, the Chamber of Secrets, Kurumi decided to skip over that question and focus on the latter. Why all the tunnels and and everything. Kurumi wasn't too sure that she was convinced that the reason for all the tunnels and stuff were to make it difficult to find the actual chamber. Slowly, she raised her hand. "I think there must have been more of a reason for all the tunnels and dead ends than just to make the chamber hard to find. Once you found the entrance, you have to be able to speak Parseltongue to get in and that is a very rare gift." She paused for just a moment. Of course, to keep those who COULD speak the language of snakes from getting in could be part of it. "Since the Chamber of Secrets was home to a basilisk, perhaps Salazar Slytherin built these as a means for the basilisk to get around and could use the dead ends as something to slither up to reach the pipes in the ceiling." The basilisk had been recorded in history as using pipes to get around.
