| | |  Hippogriff Hundred Yard Dash!
 As you trot out toward the marked-out track for the Hippogriff Hundred Yard Dash, your eyes are immediately drawn to the five beautiful half-bird, half-horse creatures standing proudly behind a locked paddock, each in its own stall from which it will take off for the race.
The raven-like black beauty is named Talonfingers; the chestnut one is Tailfeathers; the white one is Eagleye; the reddish one is Quickhooves; and the gray spotted one is named Winnerwings.
Pick your hippogriff and place your bets! Baskets for gambling tokens sit before each hippogriff's respective stall. Once the bets are placed, the hippogriffs will take off down the track, hopefully not flying (as that will result in disqualification) for each of the three rounds.
If your chosen hippogriff wins, everything you gambled will be doubled! If not... sorry Charlie, but the House gets your tokens.
GOOD LUCK! The Rules: - We will have three rounds, each with plenty of time in between for you to place your bets.
- You have a limit of 10 tokens to bet with. You may choose to have less based on your participation in the other activities BUT you cannot exceed 10 tokens.
- Please do NOT RP for the Hippogriffs. After the end of the three rounds you will have an opportunity to approach the hippogriffs, pet them, and RP with them.
- To place your bet, make a quality RP post of placing the amount of galleons on the ONE HIPPOGRIFF you want to win in front of its corresponding basket.
- WE will RP the outcome of the hippogriff race for you, though you are more than welcome to RP cheering them on.
- Remember all SS Site Rules.

Kurumi instantly began jumping up and down as the race began and she seriously hoped that Talonfingers didn't take too much offense to Adam butchering its name and, you know, come and charge right AT them or anything. Professor Williamson would protect them if it did, right? Right. Kurumi convinced herself of that.
"Winnerwings! Winnerwings! Winnerwings!" Kurumi said, chanting the hippogriff's name and clapping in rhythm. "Show those hippogriffs that history doesn't repeat itself!" And a few more chants and claps. "Now is the chance to redeem yourself! You can do it! Be the winner Winnerwings!"
Kurumi continued to bounce as the hippogriffs ran past them. Come on Winnerwings, don't let yourself down this time...

As everyone kept cheering for the hippogriff they bet on, Gwendolyn tried not to roll her eyes. Like it’s going to help them win. Psh, the girl thought and glimpsed at the creatures. No. She wouldn’t cheer…. Except she totally would!!! ‘GOOOOOOOO TALONFINGERS!!!!', the third year said and looked at the black hippogriff. Oh, you can do it! Come oooon! I know you can do it!, the Ravenclaw thought.

Quickhooves was not pleased to have finished neck-in-neck with Tailfeathers last round, and was determined to finish first this time around. When the cannon went off, signaling their departure, the Hippogriff was true to his name as he burst out of his gate with a flash.
Tailfeathers was hot on Quickhooves' tail, however. He tried to distract the older Hippogriff with his squawking as he kept pace with the faster, less tired creature, but as they approached the first turn he fell in step behind Talonfingers. Talonfingers eyed the chestnut hippogriff beside him and stretched his long neck out, determined to finish in a better position than he had last round.
Winnerwings made up the rear, edging just slightly ahead of even Tailfeathers as they all rounded the bend. She was kind of off in her own world though she was aware that Tailfeathers seemed to be losing a few.... tailfeathers as he fell farther and farther behind. Hmmph. Served him right for winning the last round instead of letting the lady win.

Any other time, Sierra would have just stood there and quietly watched the race while the others went mentally insane. However, this time, things were a little bit different. She'd bet actual tokens on one of these Hippogriffs, and despite the fact that she really had no idea what the value of one of these tokens was, she certainly didn't like to lose.
"GO QUICKHOOVES!" she called out. "LET'S GO!!! YOU CAN DO IT!" She yelled along with the rest of them as she clapped and jumoed for Quickhooves to take this round by a long shot.

Williamson applauded along with the students and beamed at Quickhooves. He again led the hippogriffs over to the water trough and left them there to drink while he took care of the gambling business.
"All right then, good job to all our competitors! And let's see here..... Ira wins 4 tokens, Sierra Greingoth wins a whopping 8 tokens, and Jezzebelle wins 4 tokens too. Congratulations to all! I'll be taking bets for our last and final round now!"

Kurumi frowned a bit, but still applauded the valiant effort of Winnerwings. The grey hippogriff seemed almost too prim and proper to be the racing type not to mention a somewhat snooty attitude so perhaps they weren't the right one to have placed a bet on. Meh. You win some and you lose some, and Kurumi had already won some. Juggling the remaining tokens in her hand Kurumi looked at all the hippogriffs before making her final decision.
"Professor, I would like to place 4 tokens on Talonfingers, please," she said, bowing towards the black hippogriff as she handed the coins over. He was steadily moving up in places, so Kurumi felt confident that he would give this last race his full effort and do even better.

Isabelle looked at all of the pretty Hippogriffs and admired them. But, which one would be the one to win. She looked at the board and saw that Talonfingers won third the first round and second the second round. So he was moving up. And Quickhooves who won the previous round was second in the first round. The odds were most likely on Talonfingers.
Izzy walked up to Professor...Smexyness...Williamson and took out four tokens from her bag. "Hello Professor," insert Smexyness here. "I would like to place a bet of four tokens on Talonfingers," Izzy said holding the four tokens out in her outstretched hand toward the professor.

Yipee! Quickhooves had won the race!! And Ira got 4 tokens! That was great!
She looked forwards to next and the last game. Now who should she bet on? Lets see.. she didn't like grey color that much, so no Winnerwings for her, though the name sounded good enough to win! But no, she won't bet on Winnerwings. Then how about the chestnut colored Tailfeathers? Nope. She would go with her very first choice, Talonfingers..
"Professor, I would like to place a bet of 4 tokens on Talonfingers." Then thinking about it, she said, "No, no! Not 4 tokens! I'd like to place a bet of 5 tokens please?" She hoped that her favorite colored hippogriff would win the race..

More bets more bets! Williamson whipped out his little black book and quickly jotted down everything the students said, his messy chicken scratch legible only to him. "Right, three bets for Talonfingers, one on Winnerwings and.... nobody for Tailfeathers or Quickhooves so far?"
He looked up from his book and gave all the kids a look of mock shock. "What, nobody believes in a winner going 2-1? Come on guys, it happens all the time!"
He chuckled to himself and tucked his bookie book away, cupping his hands around his mouth then. "LAST CALL for HIPPOGRIFF BETS! Come one, come all! LAST CALL to DOUBLE YOUR TOKENS!"
Really, if he had been a student, he would have wagered everything in the final round. They were redeemable for a replica ALBUS DUMBLEDORE BEARD! You didn't just win one of THOSE every day. Or house points. But Willy would rather have the beard.

William finished jotting down the last bets and then nodded to all the kids. "All right, stay back now. Round three is about to begin!" He got the hippogriffs ready then also jogged away from the enclosure, shooting off his wand with a cannon sound once he was in the clear.
The hippogriffs, pumped for this third race, all took off like feather cannons of their own. They raced around the track, passing the first bend with all neck-in-neck for first. As they neared the finish line, however, the hippogriffs' personalities came into play.
Prissy ol' Winnerwings, who always thought she was better than the other hippogriffs, started to edge ahead of Quickhooves and the rest in a small attempt to avoid their stinkiness. Quickhooves nipped at her but remained in a solid second, while Tailfeathers and Talonfingers battled it out for third and fourth.
William whooped for them all as Winnerwings edged ahead by an entire stride an crossed the finish line first, with Quickhooves taking second and Tailfeathers and Talonfingers taking third and fourth, respectively.
He collected the hippogriffs and rubbed them all down, leaving them by their water troughs as he went to dole out the winnings. "Congratulations, Jezzabelle and Oakey!" He beamed and handed the Gryffindor a whopping twelve galleons and the Hufflepuff two galleons. "Congratulations to ALL who gambled! You may now bow to the hippogriffs and approach them respectfully, so long as they're finished drinking."
Williamson smiled around at them all and then made up a completed list of the winners and how many galleons they had collected at this event.

Jezzabelle smiled, "Thanks. I guess it was just a lucky guess." She took her twelve galleons and approached Winnerwings. With a nice steady bow to the beautiful girl, she smiled, "Thank you." If it wasn't for her, Jezz wouldn't have fifteen galleons to her name. Way more than the ten galleon limit.

Kurumi sort of stood there blankly looking at the hippogriffs. She must have just had a case of beginner's luck, having won 6 tokens on the first race. But, at least she had won those six and Jezz had come out a very big winner have bet on the right hippogriff twice. Kurumi cocked an eyebrow at Winnerwings. Sure, she chose the time Kurumi didn't bet on het to come out on top.
Oh well. The important thing was that now she could get up close to the hippogriffs! Kurumi waited a few minutes while she waited for the creatures to finish drinking and then bowed to them, waiting for them to return the favor and then approaching the closest one, which just so happened to be Tailfeathers. "You ran some good races," she smiled, softly petting his beak. "Congratulations, Jezz," she called over to the girl. "I hope you put those tokens to good use." Wink.

She finally stepped forward to pet Winnerwings. Such a pretty Hippogriff. She smiled over at Kurumi. "Thanks!" She then laughed, "Don't worry. I know exactly what I'm going to do with all my tokens." Hmm, now that she though about it, she had technically one two out of three bets. Two in a row at that. Her shock set in a little but she was still cheerful none the less as she pet the Hippogriff in front of her.

Looking at the list of winners Jezzabelle felt shock color her face. She was off by three points. She hadn't won fifteen tokens, she had won eighteen....wow. She bowed to Winnerwings again and moved over to pet Quickhooves. She bowed to him and then went forward to bet his beak. They were all so wonderful and she had a hard time choosing a favorite, not that she was big on favoritism. Looking at the token winnings again she began to wonder....did she get to ride on a Hippogriff?
